Hi i have a htc touch pro, i purchased the phone separately, and now i am with a cell phone provider and recently i purchased the data plan, whenever i go on the internet it says using EDGE not 3G? i was wondering in my country there is 3g as well so thats not the problem, is there anyway to switch from edge to 3g, or is there something else wrong,

some companys require one to actively sign up for 3g but most cases
if the phone show 3g or h it got 3g or 3½g
if it only show e or g it's bacuse it only recieve those signals
Or look into the Phone settings-Band ,if you have not selected GSM only.

3G doesnt work in my htc touch pro

I had the same problem in the beginning. The simple solution: I still had an "old" SIM card, which was not capable of 3G. A simple request to my provider, and he sent me a new one (same tel number, no contract change / renewal) at no cost.

thank u but my sim card is 3g , i tried it into blackberry and it shows 3g
maybe this will help
go to start > settings > phone
then click on BAND tab and make sure the network type is set to WCDMA and the second drop down box has AUTO selected.
and press ok.
The phone should now look for the 3G network. Make sure you rem that if you are not in 3G network, your phone wont auto shift to Edge network, you would have to go back to the top steps and select GSM instead of WCDMA.
Hope this helps. If this doesn't work I bel there's some prob in the hardware or sim or the damn network itself !!!

I have the same problem and i've tried radio 1.14.25.35 for at&t and with the same version for the rilphone.dll. i did find out that the version of the phone i have may be an issue. Raph100 (under the battery) EU 07/09/08 REV.EU01 (bottom left corner) under battery cover. I tried enabling hsdpa and hsupa. no help. i am using Energy.RAPHAEL.23563.Sense2.5.GTX.Themed.Apr.24 ROM. and i max at 50 kbps.

A friend of mine Purchased a Huawei U8150, and bought a carrier unlock code on ebay. When he inserts his sim card he has 2g but no 3g connectivity, in other words no internet. He already upgraded his data plan to android data plan, this is on AT&T. Just wanted to know if there is a way to enable data on this phone.

like my hd2 its doesnt support at&t 3g bands so he cant get 3g on the phone at all its hardware u cant cant so tough luck
I got a Tmobile sensation and I m using in Peru, for some reason the network line is in EDGE, or 2g it is the way we can change, the sim card work in 4g in another phone, some body can help me.
check your network settings and see if your running tmobile. maybe att?

Still under 2g, I read I need do something to activate the 850 HSPA in the cellphone.
it will recognise my sim and get the network signal,I will be able to do calls and send messages.
With one sim card after setting the apn I will get even 4g LTE ,with another carrier with the same bands and coverage on my country won't get data connection.
Any idea ??everything else works fine
