Nexus One Launcher in the Market - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

If you want the nexus one launcher and you are running 2.1
Look for "Helix Launcher" in the market....it is free and can have up to seven screens. Just hit menu, and configure up to seven screens. I just downloaded and it looks pretty sweet so far.
I’ve heard from both 2.0.1 rooted and nonrooted users as being able to see this in the market. Please let me know if you can’t. If you have a rooted Android 2.0.1 device and can’t see this app, there is a simple hack you can do to make 2.1 apps viewable and then downloadable in the market. *
Most of my information was found in TechBuzz
If you double tap on the screen, it will pull I all seven of your screens!

WOW this is amazing makes my phone perfect!

That's what I was thinking.....with DamageControl it is ridiculously amazing!!!!!!

has anyone else played with this yet? i like it alot... very good idea imo, it also goes sideways at the homescreen and still looks good (unlike GDE)

I am assuming this has to be ran on the standard home, not Sense UI?

i would commit to running this 100% of the time if i could get my htc widgets from Sense, including the clock (yes i know about beautiful widgets and i dont like it)... i really would like the widget to disable mobile network as well

No I just realized that it does not use the clock or bookmark Widgets that I like.....but I might be able to find replacement Widgets in the market that would suffice.
Being able to have seven screens, rotate sideways on the home screen, and have five icons going up and down....is a huge plus.
I'm loving this so far and its free...LOL.

and now im eating my words with beautiful widgets... but i cant get the version i have (the one before thy changed it to not look like sense) to download weather animations...

so the newest "weather widgets (yr.no)" in the market is awesome... it looks like the sense clock and when you tap the clock it takes you to the default (sense) clock application...
ps: it's free in the market
Edit: but the weather widgets one wont go sideways without screwing up (unlike Beautiful widgets)... damn
Edit: #2 i now have the old beautiful widgets clock (like sense) and the weather animations working... if anyone wants to know how shoot me a PM since i dont want to post Warez

wow this is perfect i hate sense now i can have the nexus launcher on 2.1 perfect!!!
has anyone gotten the live wallpapers to work?

i highly doubt LWP will work with this for the same reasons it wont work with sense (wasnt designed for seven screens)

odd.. it says 7 screens and LWP supported..
EDIT: on home screen.. press menu and configure.. you can adjust the screen amount up to 7.. I still cant get LWP to load..

i guess i didnt read that part...
I stand corrected, but untill a dev gets LWP working correctly with our hacked up 2.1 roms (or the official 2.1 comes out) then we wont have LWP anyways, even if it's supported

iono i still think sense is just to feature packed compared to the standard home for me to wanna give up sense

have you tried this? it deff isnt like "standard home"
and the only thing that sense has on this is special widgets...

Yea, this is pretty feature packed as well....def not like plain Jane vanilla HOME.
I am finding things to replace the "special widgets" and gaining more space. Its pretty hot.
Either witch way....its fun to check out, and best of all free!!!!

the only widget id love to keep is the full calendar.... i dont use everything else... maybe the bookmark one thats about it...

got a good widget to replace the sense clock/weather yet?

Im digging this launcher. I just found out about the extra icon slots next to the launcher button. Allows more Icons on the home page and the four on the bottom follow from screen to screen. Very nice. Thanks.

[POLL] Beautiful Widgets or Weather Widget Donate

Just trying to get a general concensus of which is preferred...if you could post a brief reason it would be helpful also.
weather donate
More like the HTC weather UI minus the different cities options.
Never tried beautiful widgets though!
I have both and I prefer beautiful widgets better.
Tho it was diffrent before.
When beautiful widgets was forced to change its skin I choose to use Weather Widget Donate, but once beautiful widgets got skins, it was far better.
I also have both and prefer Beautiful Widgets. I believe there's an HTC like flip clock available as a skin, although I wouldn't know for sure since I've been unable to get the app to download the forecast animations it says it needs as well as it force closing every time I hit the "skins" button in the settings. Anyone else had this problem?
voted for Weather Widget Donate. I have bought both of them but the Weather Widget one just seems better after you click it. I do like the beautiful one as well since you have it skinned.
Beautiful widget, it shows the weather in landscape mode, weather widget doesn't.
I like beautiful widgets better, but weather widgets looks better in my opinion. Most if not all of the beautiful widget skins for the full flip clock hug the top of the screen and sit right underneath the notification bar... the weather widget htc skin sits a bit removed and it looks much better that way in my opinion.
I prefer beautiful widgets skins and it's landscape look.
Here's the SenseUI Style skin... this is as close as you are going to get to the original (however I drew each resource myself instead of porting the ones directly from Sense).
I cant send it to the dev since HTC is already on his case about similarities...

Can you take a screenshot of it applied to your n1? I already got a refund for beautiful widgets... if it looks good, I'd probably switch
i actually have it on my Droid...don't have an N1 yet. I'm not rooted and am on a mac so screenshots arent possible. Here's a pic i took a week or so back (this was a previous version of my sense skin, it's even more accurate now).
Is that a widget you installed, or did you install a theme/skin copying the desire?
The main reason I chose Weather Widget Donate was because I could customize the skin greatly, and also display my calendar in the same widget. I don't need to know the time...I need to know my itinerary and the weather.
Screenshot:
I prefer Beautiful widgets, weather widget just wouldn't update the time for me and it really started to annoy me so i rolled back to the old beautiful widgets
I have the old data files to make it look like the HTC widget so im all bless
To get the HTC look on beautiful widgets you need version 2.53 with the animations pack on the sd card
.apk
I think beautiful look alot better, especially before update (I still use the not updated version, I downloaded an .apk file for it. I don't remember where I got it but im sure you could find it if you google it). Although I must say weather widgets is faster at opening the forecast animation. But I don't open the animation that much so i prefer the look of beautiful widgets.

Err that skin is for beautiful widgets. At least I only have beautiful widgets.
Just unzip the folder with all the png and copy it to your sdcard\data\beautifulwidgets\skins\
You can see that all the other skin folders are inside as well.
Go back to beautiful widgets and select your new skin, it will be shown as one of your installed skins.
I will say, BW, is much better. I actually remove the htc version on my desire Rom and use it instead. I sort of like the sun to the right, not the middle. It makes it more appealing..
Buy it...by far the best purchase ive made yet for the N1.

Inquiry: Sense Desire "Phone Bar" on N1???

Hey guys,
Was looking to see if its possible to place the "Phone" bar at the bottom of the HTC Sense Desire and place it on the Nexus One, WITHOUT having to change the whole UI or rooting my phone???
Unless there is something like that as a home replacement in the market, no.
Thanks boss. Any suggestions on what to look it under?
as far as i'm aware its not possible as its part of SenseUI.
You could try HelixLauncher which allows you to drop icons next to the app drawer like iphone.
Thanks bewA. Tried it, its cool but hate that it kills the 3d effect when scrolling my apps on N1.
Thats why you use HelixLauncher2 buddy and you still have your pretty 3D scrolling

You da man. Thanks!
No, there was a replacement launcher you could use, it had the curved desire bar with phone on one side and browser on the other, but I can't remember who did it. It's somewhere in this forum though.
Thanks Kitsunisan. Sounds interesting. If you remember or come across it please let me know.
Flash Desire ROM? Heh. I know there's a SweeterHome 2 theme that does it, though.
Well
Okay i know we cant just pull parts of the sense rom onto a stock vanilla rom.
But do you guys believe that it would be worth sacrificing hours and hours of work to finally unlock this possibility? I believe so. I mean adroid is here to stay and if we could somehow create a hybrid stock vanilla rom it would be unreal!!
What do you guys think?
Kind of impossible. You need the Sense UI framework, which is deep in the ROM, and porting it to Stock is really pointless, because it would turn out to be the Desire ROM after porting it.
Totally, I mean there are some things I like about Sense but not all. Like their music player widget is a lot nicer than the stock music player on the N1. However I like the 3d effects on the N1 picture gallery and app menu which Sense doesn't have. So it be really cool to pick it apart and just install the widgets or programs or apps that really surpass the N1 without having to install the entire Sense UI.
Actually, just download the 3D Gallery apk and install it. I did it and love it.

Thats what i meant by a "hybrid" rom, as in a stock rom with the widgets also from sense or just selecting certain sense peices, just finding and working and serious trial and error to finally create one masterpiece...
This may seem impossible but i believe after hearing of working camcorder and camera on g1's with 2.1 eclair from Cyanogen, i think anything is possible from this community.

Can't for the life of me find where I put that launcher, it's going to be driving me nuts. But I'd imagine you could take the Desire launcher and copy the images for the bar into the three button launcher then resign it.
Ok so here are some of the workarounds I've done Im pretty happy:
'Helixlaunch2'- free on app store. Its not the sense desire bar but looks very cool, is actually more functional and maintains the 3d effects when scrolling through the app menu.
'Pure Music'- Provides AWESOME skins for the music player widget. Very customizable, I like the transparency manageability.
Also 'Pure Grid Calender'- Very nice looking calender widget.
I would like to give his thread a bump as it also interests me.
@kitsunisan please find the link

What widgets are those btw? Beautiful or some others? Forgive my ignorance, my EVO arrives tomorrow and it'll be my first Android device, just trying to compile a list of all the stuff I wanna try and I certainly like the overall look you've put together w/ADW and that stuff. beautiful widgets for the time/weather & the vibrate widget.
es task manager is the task killer icon on the right of the battery widget.

beautiful widgets is another good replacement for the htc clock. with many types of skins.
the bookmarks im not to sure. never use them personally. if i did i would just use the android bookmark "shortcuts"

If you have the device held horizontally its going to do that. If that is what you are talking about. Not a glitch.
I like the RAB and LAB buttons. Very useful.
I have the LAB as Phone (to make calls) and RAB as a folder.
The problem is I cannot add/remove apps from the folder.
I initially created the folder on the desktop, added about 10 apps to it then dragged it to the RAB. Excellent. I have access to those 10 apps almost 90% of the time.
Problem is I cannot add a new app shortcut to that folder.
Is there a way to undock/shift the folder from RAB back to desktop to add app shortcuts then back to RAB?
Because I tried adding an app shortcut to the folder by dragging it from desktop to RAB but that app got registered as the bew RAB and I lost the folder. Had to redo it all over.
otherwise its great.
thanks
this any different from ADW.Launcher in market?

Why can't these HTC Clock applications replicate the animation that plays when you turn the phone on and the screen is showing the clock.. to me they are worthless without it..
Don't know why.. I just love that effect..
my example in my sig

Nice, thanks!
It is quite nice but it is all out of whack in landscape view... on the Droid anyway.
i've used beautiful widgets, and weather and toggle, this is by far the closest replication i've seen, altho i really really wish it displayed the flip animation for the time. that would add so much class.

Actually that is not 100% correct. It's because the animated version is proprietary to HTC. Beautiful Widgets used to be virtually identical to the HTC weather widget until HTC hit the company with a C&D letter. Now every update by Beautiful Widgets has to be approved by HTC before they can release an update. Check out Beautiful Widget version 2.35, that was the last version before the C&D.

Nevertheless, it's a good looker in portrait.

Does anyone notice the slight banding around the numbers? You can see the numbers having a slight halo. The halos disappear when you try to slide the screens. Reminds me of the 16 bit issue of android...
While this installed without issue, I currently have no Weather Forecast showing? It reads my location fine and states 'Leeds' (UK) however no image of sunshine, or should i say rain clouds here in northern England lol! Anyone else experiencing the same? I did a google search and found others noticing the same on other phones but nothing regarding Nexus. Currently running Enom 1.9.2 and ADW Launcher.
Thanks.

Favorite clock/weather widget?

So one of the only things I find myself salivating at on my wife's HTC Incredible 2 is the Sense weather/clock widget. Thing looks badass. I've found some of the ripoffs on the appstore, and have installed Beautiful Widgets, which has some pretty cool clocks, but a lot of them look like janky crap.

Fancy Widget Pro is great. I prefer it over Beautiful Widgets and Weather Toggle & Widgets.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.anddoes.fancywidgets
I guess the new version is called just Fancy Widgets
Weather and Toggle Widgets. I use the Digital Clock skin:
Thanks for the suggestions The couple of clocks I've downloaded for Fancy Widgets(I only had free before, but just bought full version) are already way better quality than the ones on Beautiful Widgets. Will try to post a screen shortly
Beautiful Widgets is my favorite. Lots of options and skins

Second to that, plus they had it as an Amazon Free App of the day once. Woohoo!
Beautiful Widgets all the way. I've been using the destroy skin with a transparent background. Around 50% that way I can see my screen background.
DroidX Eye Clock widget
At some point in the last nine months I had a DroidX Clock widget on my OG Droid. I really was just a clock widget that used the DroidX Eye as a background, and offered a choice for the eye color (red, blue, green, yellowish). It was lost at some point in one of the many times I flashed different roms to that phone. I have looked a few times in the last couple of months, but have been unable to find it.
If anybody has seen that widget, or has it, I'd love to get it installed on my Droid Charge.
(BTW: Verizon tunred on 4G in my area today, and it is crazy fast... loving it).
Actually. Use go launcher and then get.goweather. your wife will be salivating looking at your phone. They.have an htc style clock that is better than htcs. And the coolness.of go launcher is a "see it to appreciate it" thing. Set your app drawer to have the blind effect. Its awesome lol.

Check out GS Flip Clock wallpaper. I'm running version 4.3 on my Samsung Tab and it's fantastic. It is as close as you can get to the HTC version. It had some growing pains initially, but as of version 4.3 everything seems to be working great.
I didn't pay for it, so I must have found the apk via Google. I remember searching for quite a while because HTC had been putting the smack down on any developers who used the flip clock style.
Currently it is on the market (website only, it didn't show up when I searched using the market app on my Charge) for $2.00. Since I'm a "noob" I can't post the direct link. Search for GSFlipClockWallpaper by Sergey Golovanov
