heres a question for yall.... my fuze has a keyboard issue. for awhile i was not able to use the t9 when it came to txt entery but then it progressed into an issue were i can no longer use the alpha part of the keyboard. for example lets say the user is going to type in an address all that would come out are numbers. so personally i am kinda lost i have never had this happen before so i am open to all suggestions

Hello Rastlin,
I had the same issue. Do you have "Diamond Tweak" installed on your device? For me, I had that program installed and had "T9 always on" checked. This is when I started to experience your issue. After turning things on and off and tweaking settings, I found that checking/unchecking that mode affected the keyboard. If this program doesn't apply to you then I don't know of any other solution.

Hey, this is only my second post here. I kinda feel like a leech since all I ever do is look around and try to gain some knowledge for myself.
But I was hoping nobody would mind and maybe try for some help.
Anyways, I tried doing some searching through the forums but couldn't find anything on this.
About a week or two ago I just updated my fuze to the htc 5.11.502.2 rom.
Besides the stupid problem of texts not getting marked read I have found another weird little problem.
My on screen keyboards are a little messed up.
When I goto "Phone Keypad" (whether it be for SMS or anything else) it brings up the keypad and looks how it is supposed to. Although whenever I click a button to try and spell something out... well it does not give me a letter at all, just the number associated with that button.
Then if I goto select my "compact qwerty" keyboard it does the same thing. brings up the keyboard and i see the letters, but whenever I hit a letter it types a number instead.
then sometimes it will actually show the numbers... but the "ABC" box will be greyed out and i wont be able to select it.
yeah i know i suck for using the htc roms, but i never really wanted to put the effort into looking for a custom rom, there are so many choices i didn't even bother looking. i would have gone crazy because there are so many choices and i am a very indecisive person.
so anyways. do i have to hard reset? or is there some quick fix i can do?
Hello,
I was using Mighty Rom 5 and my hardware keyboard just stopped working totally.. I did a hard reset and had the same issue.. Re-flashed the phone and its working good again, no more keyboard issues.
Now the problem is when I type in a name in the TO: feild, it won't auto populate the perons i'm trying to get to any more.
For example I would type out Der and at the bottom of my scree it would say derek s., i could click on that name and it would fill out his number. Now i have to click the to field and select the name that way.
i've tired turning on the predictive text, auto-correct, suggest new words (none of them will work even in texts).. I've messed with other options as well, nothing works.
The odd thing is I used to be able to hit FN-spacebar and get T9 menu, doesn't work anymore either. Maybe part of the new rom update.
suggestions?
On thing I noticed is that when I go to settings and personal, input options, I only have 4 options, Keyboard, block recognizer, fingerkeyb(i installed that one) and letter recognizer.. I don't have the full qwerty option or the others..
well after flashing the phone, going back to stock and trying everthing else I can think of, I found a fix.
Take a hammer, smash the phone, get the new palm.
Thats the last HTC phone I will evey buy.. I replaced my mogul 3 times, and i'm on my 4th HTC Touch Pro (all hardware keybaord issues, or this software crap).
HTC can suck my D***
Is there any way to totally disable the on-screen keyboards? They come up by default in some programs and they are annoying as ... especially if you have a hardware keyboard.
get nullkb
and sipchange
and make nullkb default
Somebody with a more solid answer will probably be along shortly. I don't believe you can actually remove ALL the SIPs, but I DO believe you can keep the keyboard from ever popping up by default (although I believe a few individual programs will still pop it up).
edit: or somebody with a better answer will be along before I actually hit "post."
I had the same problem when my wireless keyboard stopped working and somehow that on screen keyboard appeared. I posted here and a MS person helped me. Spend some time in Ease of Access and you'll find out how to turn it off.
I don't know if this has been solved before, i'll post it just for the sake of it.
One of the major issue i've ever encountered on any rom is actually htc dialer, which may sometimes show a bar which hides "end call" and "key pad" keys. Now, i've been wanting to solve this for a long time, so i kinda looked into it myself, since i couldn't seem to find any solution. One of the solution i came with was that the htc dialer isn't ported completely into VGA version, and i kinda left it to that. But school got me thinkin' (yeah, i usually attend school to think to problems of my own, lol.) Even though it's not completely ported to VGA, it makes little sense that, out of the blue, it shows this damn annoying bar. So here i go.
I noticed that everytime you use "Fondamental Purge" on cleanRAM, this damn bar approaches. Thus, the solution is very simple:
Freely install CleanRAM, which i find SERIOUSLY USEFULL, especially with roms such as Energy's and many others. It speeds up your phone. But, here comes the solution to the problem: Tap OPTIONS, then "exception list", enable it, and find a process named "phcanvga.exe", port it to the left column, and voilĂ ! u're done. Exit the exception list, and feel free to use cleanram anytime you want
Hope i was helpfull, keep on developing touch pro roms n programs!!!!
Hi,
Just got my unlocked Pixel 4a today. No custom roms or anything. Android 11. Build RQ1A.201205.008.
I'm a bit of a minimalist, and I went through the keyboard settings for messages (it had this little emoji bar thing that also did the predictive words I wanted to get rid of). Also in that bar was the microphone for voice to txt. When I shut off those unneeded options and turned the dedicated numerical row on, the microphone disappeared. I've tried resetting the options to the best of my memory, but it still isn't back to where it was, and the microphone is still gone.
There is another microphone in the preview box, but that is a tap-and-hold-to-send-a-recording microphone. Not what I'm looking for. That works.
I checked permissions, Gboard has permissions. I checked the keyboard settings, voice to text is enabled. Anyone know the 'magic combination' of options to get this back? I use it frequently!! I'd hate to have to reset-to-factory just to restore this one feature.
Thanks!
I finally found it after much headaches. It seems the voice to text microphone is part of the "suggestion strip" that is under "Text Correction". No idea why this isn't integrated into the keyboard as it's own icon as it's been in earlier versions of Android.
If anyone has any recommendations on how I can potentially make that integration and get rid of the suggestion strip, please let me know.
I tried to reproduce the missing voice2text mic that you reported and failed.
I went to Gboard settings > text correction then:
Disabled show suggestion strip
Disabled next-word suggestions
Disabled emoji suggestions
Disabled sticker suggestions
Going back to the keyboard, the suggestion strip/stickers/GIF/clipboard/settings and the mic were all gone.
I re-enabled all the above and the mic reappeared, along with the other stuff.
One thing you could try short of factory reset is to go to the App Info for the Gboard, force stop, and clear the cache. Relaunch the keyboard to see if it brought the mic back.

Looks like you resolved it. I think this design change was made a few cycles ago and am not aware of any way to re-integrate it. You could try SwiftKey to see if that has the feature you want.
I think installing a different keyboard can be helpful here. Have you tried to do it? To be honest, it was one of the most significant problems that made me change a model of my phone. I did have a Samsung Note, and the problem with the Gboard was repeating very often. I have been browsing different sites to find a solution, but was never successful in it. One day, one of my sisters visited me and took my phone while I was in the kitchen. She fixed the problem instantly, would you believe it? I came to the room and was surprised after she showed me it. She said she visited https://techplugged.com/5-best-solutions-to-fix-the-gboard-not-working-error/ and followed all the instructions given there. I have forgotten about the problems with Gboard for a long time, but there were other reasons for me to change my phone to the latest iPhone.
