Cannot install either from adb of from the sd card.
pkg: /data/local/tmp/HelixLauncher_1.0.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]

what ROM are you using?

Thanks, this works like a charm on my Droid w/ ESE53 now! I do have a noobish question, though -- I was trying to theme this launcher a bit, but after I did, it wouldn't install anymore. I tried doing it throug ADB and get the following error:
Code:
INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE
And LogCat throws the error:
Code:
Package com.helixprogect.launcher has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.shared; ignoring!
I did have to re-sign the package using testsign.jar, but I'm guessing that I need to use different keys, but have no idea about how to do that. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks
I have an q: is it possible to lift up the app bar icons few pixels?
The seem to be a bit low.

I am using stock nexus.

@btdownloads7
what command did you used? adb install? the reason is because user data of that app already exists on /data/data and hence adb detects the conflict of different apk being used.
try adb install -r
or if that doesn't work. delete the user data first before installing.
oh and also, mine spreading to the droids forums? thanks!
EDIT: worst case: http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/3f084d78a15f6d3d
@DocRambone
i think i need a better solution for that. it has always been that low right? as in the handle view.. the icons alignment are made to follow handle view.. if not, it'll look messy.. imagine floating icons with sinking handle bar. :S
@htcmagic
if i dont mind, i'll need a logcat of after you try running that command..

I did use "adb install -r", and I didn't think that I'd need to wipe data because I used a Nandroid backup before I ever installed your original app. I'm using Pete's Bugless Beast rom right now, and will do a full system wipe and install it from scratch. Will let you know shortly if that works.
P.S. I just posted a link to this thread on AllDroid.

no no... not talking about wipe data.. do this:
adb shell rm -r /data/data/com.helixproject.launcher

Ahh, I misunderstood -- I already did this, but no luck. I'm going to wipe data anyway, just to see if the problem gets fixed.
And I was looking in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529124
It's talking about a totally different ROM, but I figured that the same principles would apply. And it looks like the people there didn't find an adequate solution. It sounded like the signature in the launches has to match the signature in framework-res.apk, but I'm pretty much a noob at this, so I couldn't figure out how to make that work.

wait dont! lol.
edit /data/system/packages.xml
remove any traces of com.helixproject.launcher

Quick theme for this launcher

OMG yes. I got so depressed when I found your Launcher2 mod and I couldn't get it to work on my Droid. This is PERFECT! I had tried Home++ before and loved the shortcuts on the bottom but H++ was buggy/unstable and I wished that I could drag my own icons down there. You took care of that and this thing seems fast and stable so far.
I hope to eventually get your Launcher2 but this will definitely keep me happy until someone with more Droid knowledge makes it work!
Thanks!

Btw, how difficult is it to change the tab on this launcher? I'd like to customize mine to match the smoked glass theme that I am using. Can I open the apk, modify the pngs, and then reinstall it?

LOL. Did that already as well. I should have mentioned all this in the op. There were no traces, and I made a Nandroid backup before wiping, so it's no big deal.
Still got the error message after full wipe and new ROM re-fash. Could you possibly modify the theme if I send you the PNG files? I'm trying to make it look like the Smoked Glass theme that I use in my stock launcher:
I don't know how good it'll look, but I modified the images to match the smaller app drawer handle, so I wanna give it a shot.

logcat after adb install HelixLauncher_1.0.apk
03-12 20:35:38.278: ERROR/PackageManager(74): Package com.helixproject.launcher has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.shared; ignoring!
03-12 20:35:38.358: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4336): ERROR: thread attach failed

@DocRambone
COOL! nice work man! i love your simplistic taste!
maybe i should use your menu icon instead of droid's.
@gardobus
Ask DocRambone
EDIT:
@htcmagic
have you allowed install on non-market apps? (settings->applications) if you have and it still doesn't work, i'm sorry, i guess unrooted phones needs to have valid signatures which can only be obtained through market.
@btdownloads7
hmm.. i think you encountering a similar problem with htcmagic. ask DocRambone how he did it. I have zero knowledge on theming. Heh.

Many thanks for this i always wanted 7 Screens.
edit: working. 7 Screens!
So what did you mean with "'Prettier' Animations & more 'Friendly' feeling"? I cant see a difference.
For me, its just like the Stock-Launcher but with 7 Screens and that is everything i want
Again, many thanks for this!
edit2: not sure, but i think i just saw the prettier animation. the little slide while changing the screens?
Its a nice addition!
I find the changing of screens by dragging a little harsh hence I modified it. If you used iPhone/iTouch you know what I mean by harsh.
Glad you like it!
hi,
thanks but how can I changed widgets, shortcut...?
Very nice,
Have you found a way to eliminate the 3d app drawer?. Its way to slow.

More like standard popup. The animation make it slow to use. open an app take much longer than with old style launcher
nice!
What font are you using ?
The perfect Launcher to me would have:
1. Auto-rotate - entering text into the search box would be much easier in landscape.
2. 7 screens - you got it!
3. Things that are disabled to become an option for the user, ie. long press to add to desktop. I only say this because I like to long press (as opposed to menu-add) so that I dictate where the item is added. Otherwise, you have to add it and then drag it to the desired location.
I believe you are on the right path here. I for one like the new app-tray vs. the old one (coming from a G1), so I say keep that.
I don't remember the name of the font. But, its from a theme called elegance. See Android theme forum.
I too like the new app launcher. Though it isn't flexible like the old launcher. Yes, I have landscape on my new build. Everything works except the app menu. Well, it does work, just glitchy. Can live with it though. I now have a 360 launcher!
I wanted to mod Launcher2 during my coming holidays, but since you're already at it, may I suggest the following:
1. Make the number of screens customizable. I still prefer 5 personally.
2. Make long-pressing on the Drawer/"Menu" (the thing you press to start the launcher) activate the overview of all the screens as well.
3. Remove the dots indicators at the size, and replace them with icons to launch apps. The best will be to make it user configurable. That is, I can choose Browser for left icon and say, Twidroid for right icon. (I know there is a mod that does this already but it's fixed to the 2 apps that can be launched)
4. Fix the FCs . It still FCs quite consistently if you have a lot of large widgets (4x3 or 4x4).
Also, I believe app menu is glitchy due to lack of drawables (or maybe the 9-patches are done properly?). Should be able to fix it easily .
I know it's a long list, but you're asking for comments ! Keep up the good work!
Can you delete the wallpaer the girls
Thanks
1. I'm still wondering how to dynamically change the screens. I'm not used to storing preferences in Android either.
2. Yeah, I was thinking of the same thing too!
3. Hmm.. I was thinking the same for this too.. but.. putting the app icon itself will not match the launcher theme somewhat.. I mean.. it'll look ugly.. ideas?
4. This.. I haven't experienced yet. Hmm.
5. The app drawer glitch isn't because of the drawable. It's utilizing a surface.. perhaps a GL surface. That's why it isn't flexible. Kinda sucks.
As for the wallpapers, I'll delete and leave only one so that the filesize is lower.
Great job!
I really wanted 7 home screens. I love to keep some blank to enjoy a live wallpaper.
But like all great things there must be a critic. Is there anyway to add 360 auto rotation? I love this feature.
Thank you very much
I'm waiting for your new version
Looking at Apps Grid for landscape now. I think I can make it work. ^_^

Having FUN with ADW.Launcher v1.2.0 + ADW.Elegant theme
I'm a bit confused, why is it that you need to install this through the SD card? Why doesn't it work like helix or the launcher pro where you can just install an apk?
why doesnt mine look like the far left screen shot?
I think this should be made a standalone home replacement so we could install just like any other app from the market. Not everybody has root.

I am currently in need of testers or developers to work with me to expand my testing abilities and content since I only have a few testers and am using my primary phone to develop and test on. If you would like to test or help in development, please email me at [email protected].
As always, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone and all mods, including this theme and all others, have the possibility of damaging your phone. I will do my best to support my theme and assist with any errors that may be caused by this theme. Please read all instructions and entire thread before installing. Important information can be within the thread in user posts. Please remember that I do this as a hobby after my full time job so please allow adequate time for me to respond to a question or issue. Also, if you like my work and would like to help me continue my work, please donate.
To install Dark Android, download the package and follow the below instructions:
You should always backup your system before installing any ROM or theme.
Copy DarkAndroid.zip to your sdcard
Reboot into Bootstrap Recovery
Install zip from sdcard
Choose zip
Browse and select zip
Install zip
When complete, use back button or power button to back up
Reboot phone
There is also a goodies pack that contains lots of icons, wallpapers, LP docks, and alternate fonts as well as various themed market apps. To use the extra content in the goodies pack and market apps, download them into a folder on your sdcard.
The goodies pack should be extracted onto you sdcard
The icons can be applied using Launcher Pro, Desktop Visualizer, Folder Organizer, or one of the many other choices for icon customization.
The docks can be used with Launcher Pro.
The fonts are in flashable zips so once extracted, they can be flashed.
Of course, the wallpapers are applied the normal way using the gallery selection or other tool.
To install the market apps from your sdcard, remove the .zip extension and install like any other app. (You must remove any existing version of the app prior to installing)
For more information about how to use Launcher Pro to modify your dock and icons, check out their user guide here.

Took a chance and applied over a "clean" install of Fission 2.3.1. on a DX.
For me I so far see no major issues.
This not stating that it ok to do this but I just wanted you to know.
Thank You

Better get ready to re-load tranq. Tranq (I believe) is still based off the Blur base (with most of the blur removed - but the framework remains).
Fission is built off of the AOSP-Like Framework from the DroidX/Droid2 SDK. It doesn't have Blur, and hence the framework is very different.
I'd be very surprised if phone calls/contacts, etc continue to work right.

Like the theme but only kept it for 1/2 day .
Decided to SBF and clean house . I like to start over about every two weeks.
My old eyes were having a issue with the font style but I really like the page flipping and phasing .
Hey I installed this theme and I decided to change the way my drop down notification background to the pic I made. My problem is. I made it and its transparent but once I push the framework back to the phone. Its not transparent at all. The picture itself is there but not transparent. I've redone it a couple of time. Im using cs5 photoshop and saved it as png and I don't know what am doing wrong. I've done this with other themes but im having problems with this one. Help please lol. Thx.

Not trying to thread jack, but how do I use these docks and fonts with launcher pro? Is there a certain folder I ned to put them in for lp to see them?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
If you extract the goodies folder to the root of your sdcard lp will see it no problem. Just gotta extract it. Then you go to the menu for lp and choose custom dock and should bring you to your pic gallery and that's that.

Tranquility does not include the mods to the services.jar that are required for a transparent notification shade. I have updated the DarkAndroid version in the OP to include this so if you flash it now, it will work be transparent. The included image was transparent as well, but I just got the time to go back and mod the services.jar. Download the new version and your image should work as well.

All of your answers are in the Launcher Pro manual. That is the easiest way to explain it I have found.

3. Navigate to where you have Minimalist_Lockscreen_Icons.zip located
4. Select the file
5. Press close on the on the pop up that appears
6. Press Apply all!
7. It WILL force close com.android.phone when it applies the Phone.apk, I do not know of any way around this.
8. While the force close pop up is on the screen, another pop up menu will appear behind the force close pop up and the buttons will say either Continue? or Stop; you must quickly press Force close on the force close pop up, then press Continue? on the other pop up menu; it will then start applying the framework-res.apk
9. The device may freeze up at this point, if it does freeze up (mine did), then wait about 30 seconds, then pull the battery and boot your phone
10. Everything should be applied now

For some odd reason, when you use apktool on the LatinIME.apk, it causes that. It has happened to everyone I know that has tried it.

Allow me to help:
Pretty sure its because you've changed the system font color to white.
Also, this happens in other applications as well. And it sorta kills any app that uses white backgrounds.

I've fixed the facebook text by making the xml's look for a different line that was already white instead of editing other lines to be white. It will be in the next release along with the facebook app being themed.
Can you give me specific examples of text not being visible in other apps because I haven't edited any other apps besides Calendar.apk in a way similar to how I messed up Facebook.apk, and I haven't noticed any text errors anywhere.

ApeX V1.4.1 for Droid X & Droid 2 - As Blurry or Stock as you'd like. The power is in your hands!
For Droid X users, you must be on system 2.3.340 already. I think it is safe to assume the overwhelming majority of you already are. There are no additional requirements for Droid 2 users.
Many common questions about Apex have answers that can now be found at the official Wiki. Please take a look below, thanks!
Main Page - FabDroid Wiki
Changes in V1.4.1
updated busybox to 1.18.0
switched from install-recovery.sh to init.d startup scripts (won't butt heads with apps anymore!)
integrated Marius/Imoseyon's startup/cron scripts into my init.d scripts (well, basically kanged them!)
Almost 100% certain I fixed nasty startup FC's!
Apex mountain wallpaper is now reaccessible through 'Wallpaper Gallery'
THX Certified sound is working ;-)
Swype is fixed for D2 Version
Toolbox update 1.0.6 (cleaner menu drawing, more themes)
Changes in V1.4.0
New Apex Toolbox (Terminal Based) to customize the ROM to the max
New Boot Animation (thanks tntdroid!)
New Background, Ringtone, Notification Tone (change of pace!)
Taller GB Keyboard, same size as MT Keyboard (thanks kejar31!)
Removed Data Throttling (thanks droidxchat for an awesome utility!)
Core Apps all updated to latest versions (Gmail, ADW Launcher, Market, Search, etc.)
Blacked out Google Talk app (ty kejar31!)
Fixed Mms.apk w/ Android 2.3.2 routing fixes (won't send to the wrong person!)
MusicMod back by default, supports lock screen controls (ty kejar31!)
FC @ Startup fixed (no more wait, power, reboot cycle!)
Updated JRummy overclocking script (ty JRummy16!)
Option to install leaked Motorola "Connected Player" in Toolbox
A LOT of new features in the Toolbox (services.jar tweaks, goodies downloader, etc.)
Credits to P3Droid, TBH, Team DeFuse, Xeudoxus, Beesley, Cyanogen, Pete, and many more. Without all the contributions of the devs to the Android community, this would not be possible. Thanks!
I especially want to thank kejar31 and JRummy16! They've both been very helpful to me to help make ApeX better!
Features:
Optimized & Zipaligned framework and applications
Combination of AOSP and Blur apps (customize with Toolbox!)
Build.prop and sysctl.conf mods (ty Beesley, nenolod, drod!)
Gingerbread Android 2.3 Theme from SDK image
Transparent Notification Shade
ADW.Launcher with up to 7 homescreens (5 by default)
Customizable Neural Network Live Wallpaper from CyanogenMod
Built-in ad blocking (toggle with Toolbox!)
Google-fixed 2.3.2 MMS app w/ black background (switchable to Blur via Toolbox!)
Yahoo! email and corporate sync working (requires switching to Motorola Messaging Suite)
Custom window animations and transitions
Spare Parts, Terminal Emulator, Wireless Tether preinstalled
Many options to customize and make this ROM yours via Toolbox!
Droid 2 Users - Your Swype apk is preinstalled onto your sdcard in the 'ApeX' folder. Use the included Files app to install it.
Screenshots
Toolbox:
You can access the toolbox by following these three steps - open terminal emulator, type su and hit enter, type apextoolbox and hit enter.
You can then navigate the toolbox using the corresponding numbers from the menus!
Comprehensive guide to the Toolbox will be up in the Wiki within a few days!
Scripts: There are still a few scripts left. They are as follows:
apextoolbox : this launches the Toolbox script
overclock : this launches the overclocking script
sys : this mounts/unmounts system as read/write
updatetb : this updates the toolbox against my server
Installation Instructions: Please have a nandroid of your current setup in case this is not for you
Users coming from 1.3.1 may be safe to keep data and cache. If there are problems, then factory reset. - Uninstall updates to Market, Gmail, ADW Launcher, & Search if they're there under Settings->Applications->Manage Applications first.
-Place file on your sdcard. Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery
-Select Factory Reset (delete data/cache)
-Return to previous menu and install .zip from sd card
-Choose ApeX and install!

QUIRKS
- If you're using another launcher besides ADW, do not use the 'Search' widget. That's for ADW only. It'll get stuck at the top of your screen if you use it on LauncherPro. Use the 'Google Search' widget instead.
- If you add Yahoo! account through the My Accounts app, you will need to use the Toolbox to switch to the Motorola Messaging Suite (MMS & Email)

I especially need some feedback from Droid 2 users. The feedback from DX users has been good.
I'm curious as to how well the overclocking script works for D2, if it does, and the keyboard.
Toolbox functionality should be identical to the DX.
Thanks!

OK, it's fixed now. Sorry about that!
Okay every things been running fine except one thing. From the second I started up i kept getting failure reports for swype. Every four seconds it was saying it needed to be force closed. I had to uninstall it and reinstalling didnt help. Im guessing it has to do with the keyboard size change? Not sure really.
yup i tried to install swype and it just force closes
Apparently if you move this to system/lib swype will work

that worked! Im starting to getting general force closing issues though thats separate from swype.
this rom is running great nice work
I'm a Liberty convert, and I absolutely LOVE this ROM.
Not all of us like pure vanilla and being able to take our favorite parts of Blur and mixing them with stock. Personally I like having the Blur widgets/messaging/gallery with the stock Car Home.
Kudos!
So far so good. Coming from gummy jar, had issues with data throttling. Aggravated me so I'm trying this for a bit
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
So just flashed back to 2.5 gummy jar. My dialer would not work. Would reset my radio connection every time i tried to pull it up to make a phone call.
Im just kinda irritated at that.
Other than that great rom. Wish i could stay with it, but gotta have the phone functioning.
So this is basically a 2.2 build for DX/D2 that is vanilla, or as Moto Blurry as you'd like. With that powerful ApexToolbox that lets the user customize whatever he wants or liked? Right?
I'm coming from Fission just to try something different on my droid 2. It inst bad the only issues Ive had is that theirs no prediction for the hardware keyboard. I do enjoy some blur and I do like the balance. I just hate the whole issue with Facebook contact sync and blur contacts but other than that its a nice rom.
How do I get the 'Vega' notification ringer. If I ever move to another ROM is there anyway I can keep that ringer?

Also, I hope to have an incremental release out soon that will fix the Swype issues, as well as modify the startup script a bit.
1.4.1 is up now. Swype is fixed for D2 users.
Also, some changes under the hood. No need to wipe data coming from 1.4.0, just wipe cache.
------------------------------------------
Unrelated, the Blur dialer I use in this ROM only works at 240DPI, so that is why it crashes to desktop -- only if you change the LCD density. This will not change, and only affects the very small percentage of users who choose to mod their LCD density.
In the case you do use the LCD density mod, Dialer One is a great alternative in the market.
Forgive the n00bish sound of this question
But the THX Certified sound... Works on D2 as well as X???
Thinking about giving this a try, but pulled from ROM Manager?
Huge SMS issues with Liberty. This fixed it.
