Manilla and Sense = same thing? - General Questions and Answers

Stupid question maybe but is Manilla and sense the same thing?
I know htc first created touch flo for their touch devices
And then later the new one Touch flo 3d was introduced with the touch diamond
But after that im getting a bit confused.
I know the newer color versions of touchflo 3d is called sense
but alot of people also seems to refer to them as manilla.
are they just different names for the same thing?

Yes, TouchFlo 3D (Manila) got renamed to Sense. Maybe to make distance to TouchWiz etc???

It gets confusing when people use different names for same thing. Sense 2.5 and manilla 2.1 etc
Anyway thanks

[SOLVED] Best Kinetic Scrolling app?

Hello all,
I'm recently returning to touch screen WM devices after having a 6.1 smartphone for a few months.
I can't live without finger scrolling so i must ask, which is the best add on for finger scrolling? I used to use ftouchflo, it was ok, but it wasn't kinetic. Then i upgraded to ftouchsl, but it was quite buggy.
Now I see the touch diamond and touch pro/fuze as well as the lg incite with nice, built in kinetic scrolling. Is there any way to port such an add on to the Tilt? (The phone i'm using) or are there any good alternatives?
Thanks!
does anyone have any input on this or is this sub forum just dead?
I've tried all different types of add ons and i'm really just looking for some users' opinions.
it's christmas lol wait and see what people say later on today
I don't think there's anything better to use than the FtouchSL...
use HTC Touchflo instead of ftouchflo, or ftouchsl,. it have so many option anyway,.
I beleive that if you install TF2D found on the development and hacking forum it will include HTC Touchflo, which works great as far as I am concerned.
htc touchflo is far more superior than ftouchflo or ftouchfloSL. I have tried both on my Polaris. The kinetic scrilling in HTC is very good.
You have a HTC Tilt yes? If so, is touch scrolling enabled? (Settings->System->TouchFlo, if that doesn't exist, I suggest you flash a cooked ROM, most of which contain TouchFlo built in).

The only and big advantage ftouchflo/ftouchsl has over HTC touchflo is that it is cofigurable. while using the handwritten notes (I use PhatPad) the touch scrolling can be switched off while using ftouchSL/ftouchflo whereas it remains a pain in thw [email protected]# using it with HTC touchflo.
Thanks everyone. I had a hermes a couple months ago and when i put m2d on it, it didn't include touchflo for the whole system. Apparently it does now? I'll try an m2d rom on my tilt when it comes in a day or two and see what happens.

TF3D or TF2D on NON-HTC Devices, WVGA

I've search the threads for these two, and even tried using the forum search, but there's just so much chaff amongst the threads that after hours of looking, I gave up.
So, a simple question. Is there a version of either TouchFlo 3D or 2D (The Manilla interface) available that runs on NON HTC devices, and has preferably been sized to WVGA resolutions?
If so, please throw me a bone (or better yet, a link!).
Ta
So I guess that's a no then?
I would like to know also
I'm currently reading up on the non htc patch,,,
it looks like manila runs on the Samsung i760
looks like the answer is in this 500 page thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173
Manila 2d WVGA here:
http://www.4winmobile.com/forums/e-...a-2d-tf2d-m900-f900-x960-wvga.html#post237210
I haven't tried it myself.
I'm looking for a definitive list of what would be needed to get manila 3D 2.1 or 2.5 up and running on a non-HTC device too. I know there will be lots of other packages to install in addition to manila itself, but it's hard to work out exactly what is needed.....

Confused: Manila, Sense, TouchFlo 2.0, 2.1, 2.5, 2.6

Could someone please help me to make some order out of HTC's user interfaces? Which one is newest? Which is fastest? What is the naming and numbering convention? Thank you!
Manila = TF3D (touch flo 3D)
within manila, there are two versions; 2.0 and 2.1
then there is the newer manila called sense, that is manila 2.5 and the latest version of sense is 2.6
hope its a little more clearer now for you
Thank you!
Is Sense Manila 2.5 or 2.6

The terms are so puzzling.
My HD2 has Sense, but how do I tell whether it is manila 2.5 or 2.6? About Phone says Manila version is 1.0.19211620.0, so what does it mean?

That is incorrect.
Manila = all versions of TFLO3D and Sense.
There is TouchFlo3D2.0 and 2.1.
There are newer builds of TouchFlo2.1 called HTC Sense.
There is also manila 2.5, which is also called HTC Sense.
Manila 2.6 is the exact same as Manila 2.5 but it is for a different type of processor and it will not run on any of HTC's current devices that use Quallcomm processors.
Hope this clears things up. The HTC Leo comes with Sense 2.5.

Thanks. It is even more complicated that I supposed. But it is good enough now that I know what mine is.
Here we go lol, Manila is the working name for HTC's 3D user interface, this comes in 2 types, TouchFlo 3D and Sence, TouchFlo 3D is the oldest version of manilla it Starts at v1.0 and goes up to v2.1, Sence is the newer version of Manila It starts at v2.1 and goes up to v2.6.
so in short imagine sence as an upgrade to the touchFlo 3D, where TouchFlo Finishes at 2.1 then it goes to sence 2.1, 2.5, 2.6 ect

You are correct sence 2.6 uses PVR for the gfx and quallcomm chipsets dont support this, this manila was developed for the HTC Qilin wich uses OMAP3
Can i get a little more info on sence 2.6? I've got diamond 2 phone, and i saw video of 2.6 running on d2.

WM6.5/Touchflo ROM with Flip-Clock & Weather ?

Hey Guys - I've poured over these threads and am a bit confused about the versions of HTC touchflo. What are my options, if any, that allow running WM6.5 and getting the flip-clock with weather beneath it? Is this possible? Or is this only touchflo 3d, which hasn't been cooked into a wizard rom?
Or maybe I should be able to change the look of the clock for this touchflo but I haven't been able to find it?
Thanks for any info.

I think what you mean is the HTC home plugin, right? I would say that you could use any 6.5 ROM and install the HTC home plugin to get the features you want (by the way, I just found this in a German ROM somewhere here, check out the "SKYNET ROM v6", post #7- Seems it's working there and should of course work for any English version, too). Good luck
Andreas
I think it's called "HTC Sense" ?
Thanks for replying Andreas. I did some more searching and I think the name associated with the look I want is "sense" ... i don't see a wizard ROM for that yet. But maybe i'm missing something? I've attached a pic.

hm... well, I don't know this one. But guess what- I'd be interested in this too Sorry I couldn't help. Personally, I don't like the 6.5 default look either and I keep always changing to even the 'old' 6.1 home screen, simply because I have all the information I need on one screen. I prefer this over a fancy look. But the thing you are looking for seems to do the job, too. Let's hope someone can jump in and solve the issue
Good luck,
Andreas
Once i ask cracing why dont use this on a rom.
1- this new touchflo is to big
2- our processor is to slow to process the flip clock, you can imagine...there is a lot of deferents images all the time change.
3- there is still bugs on ported version (maybe now this is not more valid)
Just one more thing, the picture is the 3d version, this one is IMPOSSIBLE to get in a non 3d acceleration device, but there something like that in 2d.
I've run this (the 2D version anyway) on a Wizard, by installing cabs onto a fairly naked 6.5 rom. It's slow, and takes too much memory and storage. It sure is pretty, though.
I think I used an "MSD-Series" rom as the base. I can't remember for sure.
I often try 6.5 but my favorite roms are 6.1. Even there, Manila2D is a hog.
RoryB's latest ExtROM-based Angel rom and TechTeamup's NSN rom are pretty evenly matched as my favorites right now. Both come with M2D. NSN loses points for using an older version, but Angel loses points for requiring tweaks to get the album view and music tabs to work properly.

I also need the same. Anybody there can suggest something
Its New HTC Manila from HTC Mega having Flip-Clock and Weather on home screen. It can be found here.
As it has many images ( for making animation like flip clock ), it makes the device slower. So its only good for newer qvga devices having 400+ mhz CPU speed and 128+ MB RAM or users how use there device rearly.
Best Regards
You can see pictures of a Wizard running Manila2D v2 here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4016314#post4016314
It realy looks great but as Cracing and n2rjt and boto said: It needs to much RAM and CPU power! And is has no real landscape mode wich is a problem if you use it on a phone with a slide-out-keyboard like the Wizard. I did not only installed the CABs but cooked it into my ROM. I flashed it, tested it and 2 days later I already flashed an other ROM again because it is not usefull at all.

CHT maxsense or sens?

Hi
What means with
CHT?
maxsense
and
sens
in ROMS?
Don't know witch to download :S
HTC Sense on Windows Mobile world is an evolution of HTC TouchFLO 3D. Originally made for newer HTC devices, like HD2 or HD Mini. It also available as an official ROM update for older WVGA HTC devices (except Touch HD), like Touch Diamond2 or Touch Pro2. However, it's not available for VGA HTC Devices like our HTC Raphael (Touch Pro or Fuze). But, thanks to our friend here (at XDA-Developers), we can get the HTC Sense on our HTC Raphael. Unlike Sense 2.1 or older TouchFLO 3D which you can install by CAB, HTC Sense 2.5 is cook-only, because it's very large (in file size), so, if you have a ROM without HTC Sense 2.5, the only way to get it is use another ROM that has HTC Sense 2.5.
CHT : Co0kie Home Tab. Modifies the HTC Sense 2.5. Shortly, you have customizeable Home Tab. For the details, open the CHT XDA thread on the link above. If you don't have CHT cooked in your ROM, but the ROM has HTC Sense 2.5, you can install the CAB, so, don't worry.
MaxSense : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687153. It tooks customization of HTC Sense even further. Shortly, you will have Android-like homescreen, widgets. For the details, open the MaxSense XDA tread on the link above. If you don't have MaxSense cooked in your ROM, you CANNOT install CAB, you have to get another ROM that has MaxSense.
