General Idea: Enable your phone to React to sms messages and missed calls. Running rules you set up for contacts and showing custom notifications or by running scripts.
Use Cases:
* Sleeping through late-night pages from work? Set the phone to just keep vibrating for work sms.
* Don’t hear missed call messages? Set them to repeat..
* Phone stolen? Send it an sms to run a script to retrieve gps location.
* Phone lost at the house and ringer on silent? Send it an sms to run a script to turn on ringer.
* Family emergency? Let them text you 911 to have the phone vibrate like crazy.

How about repeat notifications for email as well? I've been looking for an app that does it all, similar to AlarmPal for WM but for Android. Just got the Droid X today and looking for a solution.
please do it for email! An make a option for different alarms based on special words in the mail.
It shouldt run with htc email client because of exchange email!

Yeah I'm using Gmail Notifier atm, but you can't do filters like this app can for SMS/missed called. That additional option would be pretty awesome.

Hi everyone
new to the site. i have been searching for this for a week now and i have not found a solution as of yet, i hope someone from here can help
i just got HP ipaq HW6955 WM5 device, the device allow for sounds to be played when new emails arrive but its not as per individual bases, is there a way to make it send tone alerts based on the individuals?? I'm surprised that it does not allow for this for emails or SMS.
also i be happy if i can get the different tone to work based on category as well as a work around.
thanks in advance
For SMS, you can use Mort Ring - maybe this even works for eMail, Mort didn't reply to my question in his forum yet.
[EDIT]
Just got a reply - for SMS no problem, for eMail not implemented.
[/EDIT]

Hello,
I am currently using the Mobile Secretary as my program to auto-respond to missed calls. As viewed here:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/...secretary.aspx
As you can tell it is quite outdated and need something a few more features. (excluding international texts being the primary concern)
Can anyone recommend any applications?
Also I think it's worth mentioning I have a Samsung Ace i325 with windows mobile 6 standard.
OK, the source is available, so you're on. Be specific about what you'd like to have changed.

The most important feature I need is the ability to:
-exclude international callers. (and SMS if that feature is added)
-ability to automatically reply to SMS/text as well.
Some features that would be a bonus: (in order of importance)
-Ability to have 6 saved messages I can switch between
-Number of rings before the phone auto hangs up
-Max number of SMS that can be sent to one person
-Log of amount of SMS sent per session
-Log of phone numbers that SMS were sent
If I can get a program like this working on my current phone I will definitely pay for it.
When you say "exclude international callers", you mean don't automatically send back the SMS when you miss a call from an international caller? Why don't you just leave international callers out of the group?
As for automatically replying to SMS, how would you like the reply to be handled? Would you put a message in for each group, and SMS from people in that group would get that group's reply?
When you say "exclude international callers", you mean don't automatically send back the SMS when you miss a call from an international caller? Yes.
Why don't you just leave international callers out of the group?
I only really need the "Default" and "Unknown Caller" groups with both sending the same message. I don't plan on using the groups to send specific messages to certain people. I want to send the same SMS to all missed calls. Unless I am missing something but I don't see how to filter out all Int Calls?
As for automatically replying to SMS, how would you like the reply to be handled? Would you put a message in for each group, and SMS from people in that group would get that group's reply?
That would be a nice feature, but all since I am only using two groups with the same message, it probably isn't necessary. I just need it to auto-reply one SMS to all received SMS.
If all you're looking for is a quick little app to auto-SMS any missed calls (excluding international calls) with the same message, that'd be really quick to whip up.

As long as it doesn't attempt to send SMS to numbers that come up as "Blocked ID" (could cause errors) ...then even what your suggesting would be improvement.
That plus auto-SMS to all texts would be great.
I would also need a manual filter for a few numbers that I know don't want any SMS sent. (paycard numbers in particular)
(I currently use a "third group" on mobile secretary to "filter" out those auto-SMS, forgot to mention that earlier)
I definitely don't need an intricate program =)
My wife is replacing her Samsung Highlight with a new MT4G, which we can all appreciate is a significant upgrade. One feature her Highlight did, was remind her that she had unread SMS text every 5 minutes or so. For her, phone in purse, car, whatever, it's rather helpful. Can I set something similar on her ny MT4G? The LED blinking isn't gonna cut it for her. And I don't want to tell her the Highlight can do something better than the MT4G! Thanks

Not sure about the built-in app, but Handcent SMS can do this and has some pretty nice other features as well.
ChompSMS also has the feature but that program's buggy. It causes the mms service to crash on my mt4g when I receive a picture mms and also causes the laucher to go all black on my wife's vibrant.

I'm confused how handcent would integrate with how MT4G handles messages...it seems like MT4G integrates SMS with facebook/twitter and your contacts. Would handcent mess with this???
It doesn't completely replace the built in messenger, texts are still accessible from the builtin app as well as from handcent. You just install handcent and then configure the builtin one to stop notifying on new messages. All the account links remain in place.
How about something for email? I don't SMS but I would like reminders about email received.
And calls missed, how about for that? I used to have reminders on a older non-smart phone and miss it.
I checked for other programs by those who did Handcent SMS, but nothing there. What can be recommended for (reliable and hopefully very configurable) reminders?

ive seen tons of SMS notifier apps but is there anyone out there who knows how to get something like that for google voice?
Use SMS Unread Count.
I set it up on my phone, by forwarding my GV message to gmail, with a filter to label and skip the inbox so I don't get double notifications (one for gmail and one for the vm)
Here's the set up:

It seems Google makes it easy from within the app itself:

I believe that is just in the notification bar.
I inferred from the OP's question that he was looking for something similar to the SMS notifiers that show the number badge on the icon.
I could be wrong.
Hey fellow xda-ers!
I love and use the LightFlowLITE app from rageconsulting found on the Google Play store, i absolutely love it!
However, if i were to receive more than one SMS, i would reply to the one SMS but not the other, my notification light would turn off. So i modded the apk to check if ALL the SMS are read before turning off the light.
i have tested this with GO SMS and it works perfectly. I do use the Accessibility service option, as if i don't it won't shut off my light. This being said, it should work with Stock SMS apps. If not, just reply with the SMS app you are using, ROM, and device information and i will see what i can do. Thanks everyone!

I do plan to add this into the main app (really old versions v1.x actually did this, but it went with contact specific notifications to being based on what was viewed instead of what was read as many people leave conversations as unread and got confused to why it wouldn't clear.

Thanks for planning on adding it! Really love this, keeps me from forgetting to reply. And im not sure what you mean by "people leave conversations as unread" if you open the conversation, it marks the message as read.. and by default, i think if you have an unread SMS it still keeps the LED on. Anyway, can't wait to see the update!
