[Q] Virtuous Inquisition 3.5.0. boot loop, help!

Hi all,
After i had problems booting into recovery, i took out the sd card, to boot into cwm.
Then i successfully flashed the virtuous rom.
But i try to boot, the phone goes into a boot loop.
Does someone have any solutions?

What were you on before, stock or a different modded rom. Ice Cream Sammich?
Have you updated your firmware?

Are you on the correct firmware? Are you SuperCID? Did you delete the PG5IMG firmware off the sd card? Did you Superwipe and then flash the rom as well?

Before i was on a stock rom (branded, swisscom switzerland), nope it was ginger.
Seems like ive to update my firmware. some infos:
s-off
hboot is 1.27.1100
radio 10.15.9035.22_2
recovery cwm 5.0.0.8
i dont really know which firmware ive to flash on my phone

For ics you need 3.24/3.25 or above.
Check the rom thread but most likely OK to flash the latest one.

[Q] Boot Loop/Wifi Error

Well I do not understand why but when i flash to certain roms I just get stuck in boot loop. I have heard there is a fix when you flash the boot file?
I seriously am a complete noob and don't understand it.
Also, when i flash to some roms i get a Wifi-Error. After reaserch I found this is due to a custom kernel. but yet again im a noob and dont know how to fix it.

are you sure you have the proper firmware for that rom? what roms are you having problems flashing, and what steps have you taken to flash them? the more information you cn provide the more help you will likely get...

Roms that get stuck in boot loop:
Blue sense 4.0
OrDroid v9.0.0
OpenSensation 12.06.12 pyramid
Rom that gets wifi error:
DarkForest Sensation XE ICS 6.3.1 (updated to 6.3.2 but niether work)
I am currently using:
Android Revolution HD (works fine but i would just like an improved UI such as the DarkForest. Its a good rom but just no what I want)

never used Dark and left ARHD long ago so i will be of no help there...

Yes i'm doing a full wipe.
I have the HTC Sensation XE in S-OFF mode which does not allow flashing to custom kernels apparently, but there is a way around it, I just don't know how.

are you using 4ext? if so you have to enable smart flash maybe...

You should read that some of those roms require 4ext to flash them... I am almost positive that will cure your problem!

Just extract the appropriate boot.img from the ROM that you have installed.

Check inside the folders.

Typically check inside the kernel folder if it is there (can't see the pic from mobile)

Just did that, didnt fix it. :/

Can you pop in irc (click on irc help channel present in my signature)

Ahh well ill give you the procedure again.. Try this if it didn't worked pop in irc
First flash the rom.. With Complete wipe..
Then extract the boot.img from the rom.zip you flashed
And flash it via fastboot
(extra 1 step mentioned by kgs1992 in his earlier post)
Then try to boot up and see

Okay so I did what I was told to do and flashed the boot.img to the phone, however I an still getting the wifi error.
Any other fixes out there or is this just a faulty ROM?
I have DarkForest XE ICS 6.3.1 flash at the moment.

same here, just flashed Dark Forest and getting wifi error. S-ON, HTC Dev unlocked, 4EXT recovery, installed from Zip using recovery. That's all I've done. I'll look for this smartflash option though.

I used a HTC desire s... HTCdev bootloader unlocked s-on and rooted ...
This morning, was checking google play when i found a FONT INSTALLER app. i decided to try it. After installation, i opened it to use a font on their server, i backed up the stock font. after applying the font, my phone freezed up so i decided to restart maybe dat would fix it.
I rebooted and my fone got stucked at the "HTC quietly brilliant" bootscreen... i tried doing factory reset. I loaded bootloader then selected factory reset. i was directed to 4ext. I didnt get the reset cos it keeps stucking up at the same screen. So i decided to wipe.. I selected the "WIPE ALL PARTITION XCEPT SD CARD" :'(

Now my Phone doesnt boot up. After the first "HTC (without the quietly brilliant)" shows up... the screen goes dark till....
....
Pls i need help on how to put my phone back on.
GURUs in the house PLEASSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

What it shall boot? You have wiped everything from it, so there are no files.
I guees you have not make a Nandroid backup, so copy some ROM to your SDcard and flash it from 4EXT.
DO NOT forget to flash the boot.img afterwards

But pls can u make it clearer. I don have any backup... The only backup i have are my apps, non for the system files.
I can also get the RUU ICS ROM i downloaded from HTCdev. Can i do something with this? Thanks,

If you was on ICS go here and skip right to B) section.
If you was on GB go here and pick the version you was before. As if you was on Sense 2.1 you would flash RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4_signed_prerooted. If you was on Sense 3.0 then your pick will be HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_deodexed_prerooted
Or just flash a custom ROM, there is plenty of choise. I would recommend Desire XS

Pls would the flashing be from 4ext or my pc using cmd? I have this pacman rom i downloaded sometimes ago, i tried "install from zip" as 4ext states it.. Its still not booting!

Copy the ROM from your Sdcard to the PC. Open it and extract the boot.img that you will find inside. Then flash it with a command from your PC (you can search the forum how exactly).
And if still does not boot then you will be one of the lucky guys with the Hitachi panel so you will have to try a Sense ROM. Download, flash through the recovery, flash the boot.img as described above

Congratulations
I am using it for some time now I had no bugs, reboots. You can read the feedback of the users in the ROM's thread and then decide.
Just remember: when you are S-ON you have to flash the boot.img separately from fastboot for ANY new ROM that you are installing!

Hello... Pls one more thing... The ICS.exe rom i got from HTCdev would not install... And was the same i used to upgrade from GB to ICS.
Any help to fix dat.. Pacman got much bugs.

It would not because you have to lock the bootloader first. Better go back to post #4 and read the first line again. It will save you the trouble to unlock and flash a recovery again.

Ok now i get the whole thing.... I cant install the RUU cos i got an Unlocked bootloader! Fine.
But can i get a Flashable/zip ICS that would work/look xactly like the main RUU w/o bugs?

If you can get into recovery, you can try reflashing the boot.img or reflashing the rom.

no need to flash boot image im on hboot 1.09 and I tried to reflash the rom and still get stuck.
never mind I did a clean install of rom instead of dirtyflash and it went thru. have to download the apps again but at least its working now. thanks again.

Best Rom for Sensation XE

Hi All,
Just want a bit of advise.
I have been using my old Sensation XE as my work phone for a while now, but would like to put a custom ROM on it.
At the moment it is standard, and think it could do with being updated.
Also do any of the ROM's allow you to use the built in buttons on the XE?
I have put the ZOMBI-X ROM on my Asus Transformer and have been impressed with that, so any advise would be appreciated.

Right, I am going to have a go - any guides anywhere?

I made a start last night, but it would not install the ROM zip file - kept coming back with an error, havent got the error to hand at the moment.
The problem I have at moment tho is it wont actually boot to recovery it kept freezing on the HTC logo screen, and I had to remove the battery to get it to boot back to normal mode.
Any ideas?
I know I am more than likely going to need to start again, but any tips would be appreciated.

R you s-on or s-off? Also make sure u have latest 4ext recovery installed, think its v1.0.0.6 RC3 and if u are s-on enable smart flash in recovery.

At the moment I dont have 4ext installed - I assume that is just a better way of installing ROM?
I had been trying to push clockworkmod recovery to phone, but that is where the problems have started.
What steps would you recommend followin?

Bit of an update, I can get the 1.0.0.5 version of 4ext to work, but cant get 1.0.0.6 to load after installing and then trying to boot to recovery it just sits on the HTC logo screen.
If I try and flash the CyanogenMod11/12 by ivanich ROM from version 1.0.0.5 version of 4ext I get an error.
Any ideas?

Thats because u need the latest recovery to flash CM 11/12 roms. U could try latest TWRP Recovery but to be honest id stay away from it coz it has been corrupting some phones partitions. R u flashing 4ext via fastboot commands?

Yes, using fastboot commands.
Will try again by downloading the image from another source, and let you know how it goes.

I have managed to install the lastest version of Ext4 and then flashed the ROM, but I keep getting errors for the Gapps.

Thanks for all your help guys - I managed to get the ROM and the GApps installed.
Phone is running superbly.
