so far ROOT is needed for every screen shot/grabber app ive come across. Is there one for non-ROOTED devices? More specifiacally one that can take a screen shot of a text sms conversation?
-SEARCH!!! yes i know, but im at work and comp time is limited, if you can point me in the right direction id really appreciate it.
-Thanks
I don't think it is possible on non-rooted devices to get an image screenshot. But you might try seeing if a sms backup program would work for you, then you could try to get a text copy of the conversation that way
Edit: first result in Google for 'android sms backup' http://code.google.com/p/android-sms/
it backs them up in gmail

You can use ddms, the sdk debugger, to take a screenshot without root. Select your device, go to Device -> Screen Capture

Okay guys I just got the HTC Touch Pro today from 3 and this will be my first ever Win mobile so I am all kinds of lost and confused.
In the sms inbox how do i change it so it doesn't display what I replied to them. I hate reading a new sms in my inbox and it looks like a bloody msn convo. I just want to see their messages not what I sent. I already have the'save sent items' thing switched off but why is it still displaying my sent messages in the sms inbox this essentially kills the whole purpose of it?
Thank you for your time.
Bump. Any help? I hate this message threading thing, we can't they just make the inbox like a normal phone. I don't want to read what I wrote or let my friends go through my private convos when they get their hands on it.

Sorry but I can't get that program to work. Something about .net framework or something I am not good with this thing .
without reading into it too much, it sounds like you need to update .NET on the computer you are installing from. Alternatively you can try this, taken from the tweaks thread:
Disable SMS Conversation in WM 6.X
In Registry Editor: Create a folder named "OEM" in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Se ttin gs"
In the new "OEM" folder, make a new DWORD key called "SMSInboxThreadingDisabled" and give it a value of "1"
OEM folder already exists, and adding the key to this folder works a treat, although any messages already in the system are lost. Back them up using something like PIM backup first.

youll need to install PHM registery editor to your phone first. Though, you may run into the same .NET situation...I couldnt say for sure. If thats the case, just update .NET on your computer...a quick Google serach for ".NET framework 3.5" should get you to the appropriate page on M$'s site.
NET Framework 3.5

Install on device.
mavs_man, the reason people are being blumt with their responses is probably due to their annoyance with the way you have named the thread. WTF is "something annoying"!!!
Please learn to use forums correctly, not just the benefit of this forum but for all forums and the internet in general.
Something more along the lines of "Don't wish to use threaded messaging view" or "MSN like sms conversations"

I recently found the photobucket mobile http://m.photobucket.com and thought it would be nice to have a shortcut or an app that makes it quick to send a photo to my account.
So far I created a shortcut on start menu that leads to ":MSINBOX -service "Gmail" -to "myaccountaddress" -subject "New Pictures"". I would like to find the right parameters to lead to "Menu,Insert,Picture". So it takes me straight to choosing my photos. Is this possible with a command line? Or do I need something like mortscript to get to that point?
EDIT:I tried these commmands so far plus some others(just added to end of above): -insert; -attach; -picture
Any help would be appreciated. I did search (which is how I got to this point), but couln't find what I needed. THANKS in advance. I will share what I come up, as I would like to also link to a photobucket icon to make it look like an app.
I see that there is an uploading app for Verizon and some other carriers. This is not what I'm interested in. I dont use data, and dont want to pay an extra 2.99 a month for the uploading service. I would like to either select my shortcut and select photos, or somehow add send to...photobucket to the default Pictures & Videos app(pimg.exe).

Thats a no then
Anyway did you ever get anywhere with this?
hello,
i've probably spent more than an hour now searching for the answer to my question:
is it possible to directly send a photo via email with my i780? if i press the send button in the camera app it automatically creates an mms, which is not what i want.
if this is not possible with the builtin app, is there any other way?
i'm really disappointed, even my 2+ year old nokia phone could do this out of the box...
thank you!
silly question i know... but you have setup an email account on your phone yes?
yes i did
i'm pretty sure it's the samsung camera app which is causing this. i spent my morning reading the msdn library and have since put together a quick and dirty solution... although i still can't believe that this can't be done with the standard application.
create new email, add your photo as an attachment. (or you can just send the "mms" to the email address)
sending mms to e-mail addresses is 30cents each here, so this is not an option
and of course i can just add my picture as an attachment after: closing the camera, going through the start menu to open messaging, create a new e-mail, select the right picture after selecting the right folder, add text. but this will take a(t least a) minute and is not what i wanted
directly mailing pics should be a standard feature on every phone with a camera...
anyway, if anyone is interested in what i wrote, i'd be glad to give out the source code (there's much room for improvement) on request.
Hi bocki! Can you please tell me how to do your quick and dirty solution. I have the same problem and I want to send a photo taken staright from the camera application. Thanks for letting me know how this works! Can you maybe even post it here? Thank you very much!!!
hey,
i attached the binary i'm currently using to this post. it needs the .net compact framework 3.5 (because i suck at everything else than c# and has currently no error handling at all, so if your device is not supported (which unfortunately i can't try out, it worked on my i780 and on the device emulator, so i guess that's a good sign!) you might even have to softreset...(but probably the app will just crash and nothing else will happen)
on first use, you will have to select the right e-mail account - it gets saved when you close the app and will be chosen automatically on subsequent starts.
if you have any problems, please let me know (it's best if you drop me a pm), i might be able to help!
[edit]new version on the next page, you'll probably want to get the newer one.[/edit]
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful!!!!
Any way I can change the size of the picture I am sending? I believe I can only choose 640. I would love to send a different size, too.
Also: The pictures gets saved into "Eigene Bilder". Anyway I can change the folder name in the registry?
Excellent work!!!! Thank you so much!
hey
glad my program is of use to others as well...
the "eigene bilder" destination is due to me hardcoding the german path, i will think of a better solution
the same goes for the resolution, as i said, this was quick and dirty (and by dirty i mean really really really ugly. ) - but i will fix this.
if you have any knowledge of c#, you may be able to fix this yourself, let me know if you need the sourcecode
i will address these issues as soon as possible and keep you posted!
skipping university in favour of coding was a good idea!
i implemented very basic error handling - if your camera is not supported, you will now get a very generic and vague error message
the same goes for invalid resolutions and folders, which can now be configured after the first start. (the first start will reset the path to \my documents\my pictures and the resolution to 640x480) sorry, no fancy dialogs, you'll have to enter the full path yourself (but you only have to do this once, so i hope this is okay).
any problems or other feature requests? let me know, i'm currently in the right mood
Hi Bocki! Thanks for looking at these issues. I am not too worried about the any of them, the folder is fine with me. But resolution would be very nice. Unfortunately, I cannot program it myself. :-( Thanks again for sharing!
please see the post directly above yours and try out the new version
Oops! I must have missed that, sorry! Great application, Thank you! I found out that if I put in 800*600, the camera starts with 1600 and I can choose my desired resolution. If I put in 1024*768 I don't get a choice. Would be great if one could also determine fine, normal etc...
Dont miss too much Uni, hehe.
Are you currently in Germany?

I deleted the linkify stuff with root explorer and now youtube runs as an app and phone number links bring up the dialer. If you don't want to pay for RE, try Estrong File Manager, but it's root access is a bit tricky to figure out...you need to go into the settings to enable each time, I found.

I can't help you fix the issue. But as for your last question... HTC was forced to remove it due to Apple patent litigation.

I am wondering the same thing. There are obviously more threads related to HTClinkifydispatcher, and the build.prop changes that are supposed to return functionality that HTC removed to comply with Apple patent requirements. However, this is what I have found. I am able to click links, Youtube links, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses in emails, texts, etc. from my bone stock Evo LTE. However, these links will only launch in the default application selected in the HTC App Association Settings menu. After rooting and making changes to build.prop (using Build Prop Editor eliminates issues with multiple entries of the same property), I am able to get selection option menus for certain linkable items. For example, Youtube links give options for browsers, or Youtube app. Email addresses, let me choose to send email using any of the email accounts I have set-up. HTML links let me choose between stock browser or Chrome. And addreses let me select to open in browsers or Google Maps. However, clicking on a phone number simply launches the phone dialer (just like stock), and does not give me the option to send a text message. Also, email addresses and phone numbers do not give an option to add a contact.
I have discovered that options are only provided if there are options that can be selected in the app associations menu. For example, the options I have in the app associations menu match exactly with the options I am presented when clicking linkable data as per above. However, if the app associations menu does not have options (in my menu the only association I can make to phone numbers is to the phone dialer) then the default (only) option will be launched when that data is selected. Does anyone else have send SMS or MMS text message as an option for phone numbers in the app association menu, or when clicking phone numbers in text after making the build.prop changes?
I think these workarounds are close, but IMHO we still do not have the true functionality that was removed due to the apple patent.
I've just switched from iPhone and I must say the android world is a little less intuitive. I cannot find a way to select the image and copy to the clipboard to paste in the email application. Am I missing an option to enable it somehow.
much appreciated. Its the AT&T galaxy s6 edge.
sorry for such a question.
Welcome to the android world.
Android is more intuitive than ios though there is a learning curve to it.
Coming back to your issue, if you want to attach 1 picture then you can click that picture and then click share and select your email app. If you want to send more than 1 picture then long press the picture in the current folder and it will have a checkbox, select all pictures you want then again click share and select your email app. Sharing is one if the biggest feature of Android. You can share information very easily between various apps. Enjoy.

Hemant, Agreed that the sharing is an option, however if I have already composed an email and just want to paste an image form the gallery, there is no option to "Copy to clipboard". That is a big miss. in iOS that just works naturally. Is there a workaround besides sharing.?

A friend showed that he gets the copy menu when he presses the options menu button on the left however on the S6 it beings up the apps list vs the menu that shows copy to keyboard option. Is there a way to add the copy from picture to clipboard?
Just press the "attach" button, that's what its there for. To attach things. A little less "intuitive" means not meant for old people and children lol

You can open up multi-window both the gallery app and email app then simply drag the image from one window to the other.

thanks for the tip. I'll try this out. but I can't believe there isin't a copy to clipboard or a simple copy highlight like the iOS. I'm not trying to point out but there are lots of these nifty things that lack when move to the android platform. I finally landed up with a good email client called Nine. However nine does not do anything besides exchange.
Copy to clipbaord is a big miss. On positives, I do like the wireless charging and the curved display and the integration of whatsapp calling as a regular call vs iOs.

Which email app do you use? Not all apps support copy/paste of images (since this is purely a Samsung Touchwiz function and not an Android one).
Try to force copy/paste: with both multi-windows open click on the middle white circle which opens up the multi-windows options. The second option from left is a force copy/paste (the icon looks like 2 windows, a black one in front of a white one, then a black finger icon at the front). Click that icon then click and drag a image.
See if that works.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm using Nine email. I'll try out the force copy/paste.
I just moved from a moto x gen 1 with 5.0 to galaxy s6 5.1.1.
Copy and pasting images on the internet used to be so easy, now I can not do it to save my life. What am I doing wrong?
Still searching for a way to copy and paste images. There must be a way. Teach me, I'm a sponge.

I just came across this post while looking something else up. However, I know it’s over a year old and it’s actually easy to accomplish this so I am assuming you figured it out. But just in case, if you still want to know how to do this let me know and I will send you back a couple of ways to accomplish this. Also, IMO, Android is way more intuitive. I am typing this on an iPad and using the clipboard (not necessarily adding pics to an email (they’re actually the same on Android or iOS), but using the actual clipboard) on this device I actually think is a pain. I find it much easier on Android. So if you still need help, please post back. I’m sorry I didn’t notice this sooner. Take care.
it is not possible to copy images to the clipboard using a Samsung phone. This seems like a huge miss because it is. i used to hate Apple, but this one feature is enough... never again will i purchase an android device.
