Hi, Im using NrG rom latest build, and for Yahoo I opened poutlook, went to tools...new account...and Yahoo was listed. I entered the info requested and it had settings already for it. I went back in to get the settings it setup for it, here they are:
imap.mail.yahoo.com
smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing requires authent: yes
Use same password for sending: yes
SSL In: no or yes (both seem to work for me)
SSL out: no or yes (both seem to work for me)
imap4
user name= Yahoo user Id (mine does not contain '@yahoo.com', just my username.)

Just got my TC tonight and I cant put it down. I LOVE this device. Ive never had a WM phone before but have played with them without any desire to own one. Well I really like how much can be optimized and configured, and thats not even considering all the tweaks found here.
Anyway, my current issue is that I cant get my yahoo email to work. Now, it could be that Im coming from a Blackberry Curve so my phone package is the blackberry BIS. Would this inhibit me getting my email? If so, do I have to call up ATT tomorrow and get set up on the smartphone program instead?
The POP/IMAP email access requires a normal dataplan... After that the device can configure itself for the mail access (after you enter you email adrdess in the new account creation). But if you want better useability, and more security than you should configure it manually whith IMAP access... if Yahoo! supports it...

I like my BB Curve better. I guess I have way too many things against me as a Mac user also. Its a neat phone but not what I really want.
yahoo/gmail issues
I am having a weird problem. When connected over wifi, yahoo and google connect and download mail like you'd expect.
When connected to 3G or Gprs network google and yahoo fail to connect. The phone tries to make another connection, like it does not know there is already a data connection.
I know my data connection is good at 3G, because I surf the web all day...
Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks.
Figured it out...
Had to uncheck the "use proxy" setting on the connection profile under "proxy"

Let me make this more clear for you.... I recently downloaded the palringo app....that comes from palringo....I got a message from my server that says an ip address in the UK has been searching through my accounts. So I tracked them down, and it went straight to palringo. The application stole my account info
@nikko1000
Actually your explanation isn't very clear.

- ok maybe you don't get this...
1. I downloaded palringo on my android phone
2. I got a message saying that i can't log in on the app
3. I went online, and i got a message from my email, saying that there is suspicious activity on several accounts, coming from 1 ip address
4. I looked up the IP address, it went straight to palringo
5. I posted this up, and complained multiple times, and looked up other people having the same problem.

So what happens when you try to log into palringo via there desktop app?
You said you were able to check your email - so does this mean your IM accounts that palringo uses are still working?
You didn't answer most of my questions, but nevermind...
Why is it so weird and suspicious to you, that there were connections from Palringo IP, if this is exactly what Palringo should do?

you're still not getting this - they showed that they logged in with their ip address, and changed information on mine, without permission, obviously meaning that they logged in, with the info that was given to them

Yeah, but this is how Palringo works - it connects to services from Palringo servers. So if e.g. someone guessed your Palringo password, then he got access to all your connected accounts and all connections were from Palringo IP.
I mean: that may not be a guy from Palringo, but anyone who got access to your Palringo account.
this is not a random person, my password is practically un-guessable.... its a 20 letter code.... example : XAO352Fs3934HOe93kdj..... and who would have access to my account? i don't share my password, or my cellphone

1. WHICH Account? Do you mean just your palringo account, or all the IM accounts you are using with it?
Here is my guess of what's happened.
You installed Palringo on your Android device, started up and everything looks normal.
Now ONE (or maybe more?) or your IM accounts is indicating there was some weird activity.
You went to whatever IM account and noticed a bunch of connections from the palringo servers. (This is OK and actually not a problem - as that's how the palringo service works)
Thus - your handheld is probably logging you out and logging you in again over and over - which causes your IM service to think there is a problem when there is not. Either your 3G is going off or your wifi is going off - prolly when you put your phone in standby.

Good question. It *does* sound like you hacked somehow - but I seriously doubt that anyone at palringo had anything to do with it.
Either someone got your palringo username/password and then changed your passwords to gmail and facebook via that (if you even can) - or you were hacked some other way.
I would take a close look at your home computer (or any other machines you've used lately) and make sure you have no virus / trogans / mailware etc on those because odds are that's actually where the hack happened.
Have you had any luck recovering your facebook and gmail accounts? What a bummer I know how bad that sucks.
So, IP addresses usually point to ISP s... How did you track and identify this organization or individual?

I don't know how many of you guys use Yahoo Mail but here lately, there have been tons of people having issues with the stock email app constantly wanting you to re-enter your password. Well I found a fix around this and wanted to share it with everyone.
First of all, I have no idea why the stock app is having issues so please don't ask. I only know a way to stop the problem.
1. Remove your account from the stock email app
2. Exit out of the app and go back into it to setup a new account
3. Select "Others" instead of Yahoo Mail.
4. Type in your email address and password but DO NOT press "Next"
5. Press "Manual Setup"
6. Select "IMAP Account"
7. Under "Incoming Server Settings" set the IMAP Server as "imap.mail.yahoo.com"
8. Set the Port to "993"
9. Set Security Type to "SSL (Accept All Certificates)"
10. Make sure the Outgoing Server Settings look like this:
SMTP Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Security Type: SSL (Accept All Certificates)
Make sure both boxes are checked at the bottom: Require Sign-In and Use Verizon email gateway.
11. Click "Next" and it will set everything up. Click "Next" again to give your account a name and enter your name.
That's it, you're good to go and shouldn't get anymore password requests. If you do, then I have no idea what to tell you.
Please pass this info along because I know a lot of people from other devices are having issues with this as well!

So far my Yahoo seems stable, haven't gotten the sign-in error in a while, so I kind of don't want to touch it - one of those "if it ain't broke, don't break it" kind of things.
But as soon as it starts acting up again, I will do this exactly & report back.
Thanks for the tip
You sir, are a good man.
Worked like a charm. Three days and running.
I was about to abandon Yahoo altogether.

I had the same error. Mine worked for a month and stopped after a new rom flash and hasn't worked since even after i went back to stock. You have to set up your Yahoo account manually with the default email app.

jumping from the X2 forum because I've got the same problem after a nand gone wrong and a factory reset and I found this in search.
This used to work fine, I'm not satisfied setting up the email manually because I also want the contact sync functionality that previously worked.

Good luck on finding a fix.
I got the same problem, and so does my wife (who has not messed with her phone nearly as much as I)... So, I don't think it's a ROM issue. I think it's possibly the outdated Yahoo authenticator on our phones... The Yahoo Mail app from the Play Store works though..

It has nothing to do with which ROM you are on, as I am running stock 2.3.6 (rooted).
The Yahoo!Mail app does work. I had to delete it again because it eats my battery.
You're not alone. Before I rooted, I did a factory reset to quickly rid my phone of a bunch of junk apps and afterward during setup the native email client wouldn't allow my adding Yahoo! email... said same thing, "cannot add account please try again later".
Called Yahoo! tech support, Moto, etc. Nothing works. So, I'm using MailDroid from the Market. Not a bad app but I don't like how I can't change font sizes within the app like I could with the native android client.
C'es la vie, right?
well I can tell you guys that its not the conduit, because it was working native less than 1 week ago for me until a recent wipe/flash. It must just be the setup. I'm temped to SBF back a version or two someday when I have time.
I could do without the contact sync, but I liked how it showed the Y! icon notification for the yahoo acct and other notifications for other accounts.

I liked the fact you could change font sizes in compositions and replies, as well as email sigs. Resorted to MailDroid because I like black UI along with my rom/theming.
I heard that Yahoo! changed their security settings to not allow for a non SSL devices to connect to their servers, tried manual account setup and still nothing. I'm beginning to think AT&T, Motorubbish, and Yahoo! are all out to get us!

this works for me
•Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
•Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
•Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
•Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL/TLS)
•Username: full email address (for example, [email protected], not just username)
•Password: the password you login to Yahoo! with.
although I'm not entirely satisfied with the workaround. I liked the special notifier icon with the full account sync that was JUST working for me until this recent flash.

This is for the generic 'Email' option in "Add Accounts", right? I'll try this out.
Wait, just looked in Settings/Add Account, and there's no red Email stamp like with 2.3.5/6 -perhaps because I'm on Lithium v1.2.1?

FYI I've been trying to set this up again occasionally for the last two months

My Outlook is also connected by SSL but there are a couple of other settings which I don't know where to enter in Android. The settings are shown in the pic attached. Please help me out with this issue.

Hello everyone, I bought the Nexus 5 yesterday and I was trying to configure my office email in the phone. I used the same settings as in Outlook in my laptop but I don't know where to enter some of the settings which I believe is required for the mail application to work.
In the Email app I have entered the Username, Password and Server. The value of Port was 443 and the security type SSL/TLS.
My Outlook is also connected by SSL but there are a couple of other settings which I don't know where to enter in Android. The settings are shown in the pic attached. Please help me out with this issue.

Yes I did, but it doesn't work. I think I need to enter the Exchange proxy settings somewhere. But where is the question.

maybe you could try some play store apps I think there are plenty of them
Maybe this will work with SandroProxy, app tab where you can redirect traffic just for one app and transparent proxy.
