please do a decent search (this is one of the most important rules of this forum) before asking this kind of question/starting a new thread. There are lots of threads about this subject (SlideIT, Swype, SPB Keyboard, etc, etc, etc).

I found it hard to use because its so sensitiv type my name in the serch aaron2112 look at my posts you will no which one it is then go to the link that the second person posted it will make the keyboard alot better

SPB keyboard, FingerBoard2, Swype, Touchpal, Resco Keyboard, but I prefer the standard keyboard.

Different default keyboard for different applications

Hi,
Does anyone know if there's a way in WM5 to use a different default SIP keyboard for different applications?
EG, for SMS messaging, I'd like the HTC Phone Pad to come up automatically, but for, say, Pocket Internet Explorer or Word Mobile I want the normal stylus Keyboard to pop up.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cheers,
Ben
Perhaps you could use Mortscript.
write a batch script that will change the default keyboard depending on what active program is running. Plenty of information on Mortscript in this forum.

Looking for 2 Applications

I just got a Touch Cruise this weekend and love it so far.
But I find that I would really like to get 2 things for it:
1. a better keyboard. I know there is a learning curve, but I am not sold on any of the keyboards that came with the device. I heard there is a freeware keyboard that is much better. Anyone know of it?
2. is there an application like google maps or google mail that you all use to track stocks and see how your portfolios are doing? Something like this would make the device even more useful.
thanks,
Try out this keyboard: It's a little bit bigger than the standard one. I use it and it works great.
pocketcm keyboard
Google Maps can be found here: Google Maps Mobile v2.0.1.17
for the second one you can search for google2go... it's a hotlink collection for the IE. It launches as a normall app, and does include the mobile google finance
PocketCM keyboard is great. a lot of good skins for it too.
For a maps program Windows Live Search Mobile is by far the best. Seriously one of the best apps from Microsoft and it's for free. It includes movie times, gas prices, maps with gps, speech recognition for addresses and business locations. I think it's only available in the US & UK though, so really depends on where you're at.
As for stocks I use Pocket StockCenter. You can setup your portfolio, number of shares for each symbol, amount paid, etc.
or you could try Vitos' Zoomboard which is quite good
While I agree PCM is a great keyboard, I have been using TouchPAL and have been happier.

I just installed PocketCM keyboard but my Polaris continues to use the Old Keyboard. When I select PocketPC keyboard and then options, it says PocketPC keyboard must be the SIP inorder to Configure it.
What is SIP and how do I get the PocketCM keyboard to work?
I've seen that as a bug sometimes, when you hit the small arrow by the keyboard icon and select PocketCM and it gives you that standard keyboard with the really small keys. Try resetting and selecting the pocket CM keyboard. Then you should be able to go into options and modify it.
Also search for SIP changer, there are tons of threads and the file is floating around. Allows you to set the default SIP on startup.
By the way SIP is "soft input panel" or something like that, it's basically the app that pops up that allows you to input characters whether it be the default HTC ones, default Windows ones, or something like PocketCM.

Modular Keyboard Possible?

I've been looking for a SIP keyboard for my new Omnia...
It looks like most of the applications available have problems running in wqvga.
For me at least, that was a pain.
Searching google I found this:

If that article is correct, it means I could create a keyboard with big keys by myself.
I wonder how difficult is to configure it. Any help?

Best touch screen keyboard with learning feature?

I have the Verizon version of the HTC Touch (VX6900). I have tried many keyboards including Zoomboard, HTC Diamond keyboard, Spb Full Screen Keyboard, PCM Keyboard, etc.
Can you suggest a keyboard that "learns" frequent words that you type and suggests them in the future so you can just hit the space bar to type out the word for you? For me I use the same words a lot and I would really benefit from that.
I know there are keyboards that suggest a word as you're typing it like if you start typing "thi" it will show you "thing" or something like that. I actually want a keyboard that will learn words that I type frequently and will suggest that word in future context.
For example if I type "I love that game", the next time I type "I", it will suggest "love" for my next word, then "that" after, etc. Before I updated to Windows Mobile 6.1, my keyboard actually used to do this, and I don't know which one installed that triggered this.
If I would type a word that I typed in the past then it would show the next word that I typed in the past next to it in a shadow color and I would just be able to hit the space bar to autocomplete that word. Does anybody know which keyboard that is? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Resco Keyboard - Touchpal 3.0
It will suggest words if you want and you can turn it off. It also allows you to change the format from one with multiple letters on one key to one letter per key.
Pretty good software.

Thanks for the reply but unfortunately I have tried both of those and they don't do what I am looking for. I am looking for a keyboard that will not only suggest words but will learn words and sequences of words that I've used in the past.
Before I updated to Windows Mobile 6.1 it was doing this. I have a feeling it was from a keyboard that I installed but I can't identify which one it was.
For example, let's say I sent a text message to a friend that said "Dude, did you see that Chargers game on Sunday?". Then if I forgot to send it to another friend I can start a new text message and as soon as I type "Dude", it will suggest "did" as my next word, then "you" as the next word after that, then "see" after that and so forth. The next word in line would show up as shadowed grey text and I would just keep pressing the space bar to add those words to my text message automatically.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!
Touchpal does this, you can even set the priority of new words it learns. Best SIP IMO.

Hmm, it still isn't doing what I want it to do unless I'm doing something wrong. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
It was installing the extra keyboards which removed this feature. I use block recognizer, and before I tried out a load of different SIP's, WM6.1 did this. I seem to recall that WM5 and WM6 did as well.
The TouchPAL DOES do that I dont know whats wrong with your phone. It is absolutely everything anyone would want or need in a keyboard IMO lol
I think what you asked is just the standard function from the simplest default microsoft keyboard comes with the original OS. Maybe you need to enable & customize it on Start >> Settings >> Personal >> Input.
By the way, the 'Gesture' function is another very useful character of the default ms keyboard. The gesture is used in this way: You need to silde your stylus, starting from the key you want and ending at the nabourgh key. Example: Slide stylus from s to w key, it will come up with capital S, s to a = backspace, s to d = space, s to x = enter, while only tap on s is just an letter s. Very useful function.

Best English Input Method Needed (i780)

Hi there,
I am new to Samsung i780, what is the best English input method on it? Some intellegent input method can try to derive the word by what you have entered. For example, if you have inputted "inp", it will prompt something like "input". Where can I find them? Better it is free
Thanks a lot!
Hi. For me, the best input method so far, is Cootek Touchpal. As you have mentioned, it predicts what you're trying to type, making corrections and adding words to dictionary extremely easy, no switching layouts if trying to enter anything not on the main keyboard, it even tries to predict the next word you might want to use, and many many more features. But it's not free. But not expensive either.
If really looking for free, check out HTC Easy Input, available on this website...
If you want querty layout with individual keys, then you also might want to check out pcm keyboard (free, google it), or (not free) SPB keyboard or resco keyboard.
Hope this helps.
BR
Hi Damac,
Thank you for so detail introduction!
If my phone(i780) has a real qwerty keyborad already, which input method might fit best?
