Very new on Android and I'm trying to figure out the basic stuffs. Bought 2 of these tablet so I can do video chat with my wife and kids.
People have posted that Google talk works but I don't know how to set it up. I looked in the market and didn't see any Google talk app in there so I'm assuming that it's web-based. Googled it and didn't find any link that will set it up for me. I setup my browser (Dolphin HD) as either Android or Desktop and still can't find any link that will launch the app. I Also looked on these forums but can't find a set of instructions that work, just some posts that fix the issues.
An Idiot's guide will work for me.
I believe Google Talk was already loaded on mine. The icon is a speech bubble that says "Talk" in it. It works beautifully for video chat.
Check your installed apps, it should already have been installed on the device. It's apps called 'Talk.' It's one of Googles default apps, also one that can't be found on the market.

Look on the next page if you have more than one. Just swipe your finger across the screen when looking at your Apps screen. My icon for Google talk is on the 2nd page of installed apps.

If for some reason you dont like google talk, tango is another free app in the market, and i like it quite a bit.
Tango an fring are cross platform.

They may be cross mobile platform (iOS, Android), but not on PC. With google talk you can go tablet to PC. And soon it will be available for gingerbread phones. And hopefully it will get iOS support eventually and work on all platforms. Or, maybe skype will eventually get Android support.
Don't count on getting skype video for android now. They were working on a video chat version, but now Microsoft has just bought them.
Thanks akashhhh, for pointing out the Chat app on the TF. It looks promising. As soon as I can snatch the new TF back from my wife, I'll try it out. I may have to buy another one. She has taken possession of it, and won't let loose.
R.I.P possibility of Skype Video on Android.. Google talk is nice, but no match for skype
Google talk works great for me. TF to desktop all the time.
Fring works but sound is not brilliant

You might get more hits if you post a description of the app, changelog for new versions, screenshots. Stuff like that. Can't just post a link without even saying the name of the app and expect people to download it.
why does it needs
coarse (network-based) location
fine (GPS) location
full Internet access

Seems like to much for a simple app. And op you should give some screen shots and description about your app in the post.

Hi All,
Microsoft is launched an application called on{X}.
This application is like tasker but it can do much more for novice users as it worked on Javascript and You will get the javascript code from any website so easily.
Installation Link
Type in google play : on{X}
Video Link
Type this on you Tube : on{X} - automate your life
Sorry for the links, as I'm not eligible to paste outside links in this forum.
Please comment and make me eligible

What is the benefit for microsoft? I mean, it's free, so what do they get from it?

I would assume that with a larger user base (android), it'll give a nice boost to on{X}'s "recipes" which is always a great thing as it will serve as references to other platforms running on{x} in near future
Yield is everything when it comes to such approach (on{X})
Can someone tell me the huge different to tasker oder automateit? It looks like that its the same with programming instead of klicking?
There is just one thing I don't like on this app:
Facebook login and using my private data
Why such app need to do this, and why can't I use other login possibilities?(windows live, google etc?)

you cannot do as much with one ex as with tasker. also you need to do the recepies on your pc and then push to your phone and as retsam88 said, you have to log in via facebook. so, tasker is the better solution for me.

When something looks free, it's usually because YOU are the product.

Lol, Gmail is free but you don't see us asking that But seriously, there's nothing wrong with them increasing their userbase. Thats why you see Google apps on iPhone.
I am new to the app scene. I was curious if there was a way to store apps locally, without the need of sales/Play Store/Amazon Store/etc.
I am just looking at storing it locally on a phone, or possibly a tablet, to show to potential clients. And also for portfolio purposes, down the road.
Again, I am a self-professed "noob", so all help is appreciated.
Thank you.

unless it is your personal app, you will need to get it from one of the stores at some point.
some apps can be downloaded by other means, but that is highly frowned upon, and against the rules to even discuss here (so please dont comment back on it).
if your device is rooted, you could use an app like titanium to make a backup of all the apps. then they would be saved locally, but i dont know how compatible that backup would be if you tried to restore it on other devices.
i would think if its a paid app, there is likely some entitlement verification coded into the app. so if it cant verify through one of the stores, it likely wont work properly if at all.
It would be apps that I build. So it would be for my own personal use. Like I said, it's to show potential clients. I would be using it to show how an app works, as a display to the client.
It will be my work. And it will be strictly for my clients.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks.

once you install an app on any device, from any source, you can use
1.apk extractor
2.es file explorer
to have the apk file, which can then be run on other devices as an installer.
or, you could dowbnload the apk straight from google play, search how with the search button.
Ok help me understand this.
It will be your app. One you make for your clients. which would mean your doing all the coding and building of the app, But you dont know how to store a simple apk on your device?

Yea, that was kind of confusing me too.
If you build the app, you can store and show it on any device its compatible.
I must be missing the issue here.

Yeah, like I said, I am completely new to this. I haven't even developed an app yet. I just wanted to visually, in my head, figure out how to display it to clients. I have clients. It's just a matter of developing apps, as far as coding.
I'm sorry if my questions are either dumb or easily answered. Thanks for all the help, though.
Regards.

OK man then you are getting way ahead of yourself. First your gonna need to learn a few programing languages. Like Java and C+. Hell I would even start by reading these forums for a while as you seem like you really have no idea what your getting into.
