How to control Volume with RC-E160 - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi everybody,
I had an idea how it should be possible to control the HD2 with the standard remotecontrol (RC-E160). Not only play/stop foreward/back but also the Volume up/down. Since there's the program "AudioManager_HeadsetTool" I thought that it actually should be possible to write a program with which the user could instead of fastforwarding the song (also fastrewind) turn up the volume (and also turn down the volume). Unfortunately i havent found the right registry entries yet.
Can somebody write a Program as described in my idea?
Once again to make it clear:
Replace the command "Fastforward" by the command "Volume up"
Replace the command "Fastrewind" by the command "Volume down"
Would be realy great if somebody could do this!
Thanks!!!

Nobody?
Am I the only one with this idea?

Would be cool to have that feature. Also i think it would be possible to give a diferent action to redial (double click play button) - just create an application called redial.exe and replace with original one. E.g. that extended redial.exe could be some kind of switch between volume up/down and fastrewind/fastforward.
Does anyone has any ideas how to rewrite those commands?

Mute via Hardware button?

For the last few days I've been trying to figure out how to mute the sounds on my Magician via a hardware button. Mapping to buttons isn't the the issue, it's finding out what command to run. I can't find any logical volume control executables in the Windows folder. The only thing I could think of is VJKeyPress, but that has no effect with the relivant key codes.
Any ideas, anyone?

anyone know the Reg key to remap the voice tag button ?

its the hardwear button under the earpiece volume control and i want to change it to open the HTC actionsceen application.
am using Dr Gonzo New Guava ROM but can't see anyway of re-mapping it in the settings.
Does anyone know the reg key to change?
This button is not recognised by smarttoolkit hotkey function, too bad cause that would be the easiest way..
You can use this method : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355141 (I don't see the earpiece button listed though, maybe it is POC ? What is POC anyway ?)
I know it is also possible to map keys via registry but I can't remember. Somewhere in \rai or something..
Please keep us updated if you find any solution as I'm also interested to change the function of this button.
Yes Dr, the POC button is the Voice Tag one.

Customize headset button

Hello everyone!
I personally use these m jays instead of the htc headset but as I understand it that doesnt really matter in this case.
When I press the button on my headset twice it calls the last contact I spoke with. After accidently pressing the button too many times I wish to disable this. While searching for information about this I only came across how to disable the action when you press the button once and hold it a little. Change the value of path in the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path
I'm assuming there is a key for pressing twice aswell but which is it?
Hi gaaah,
Thanks for the tip. Which value did you put?
Thanks.

Change Volume buttons to scroll buttons

Hi all,
Been looking around for a way to change my volume buttons so that i can use it to scroll up and down (using goodlink and everytime i click on a item it goes into that item and not do a show preview on the preview panel)
Does anyone know of a bit of kit that would do this job? Have looked at "advanced config" but cant seem to find a way to change/map the volume buttons to make them scroll up and down a list.
Thanks
Sorry all...looks like i answered myy own question. Finally found the below to sort out what i need and it works with the topaz!.
Sorry for the same and FYI the thread is below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409243&highlight=remap+volume
"What works for me is AEButton Plus (payware, no affiliation). I have reconfigured my volume buttons to single press = arrow up/down and long press to volume. The program has a nice function: you can choose to let the volume buttons have their default behavior during a phonecall.."
Fine, thank u. And it works on your Touch Diamond 2 Topaz?
yep works a treat on my Diamond 2 topaz
...i do have netcf 3.5 installed before i installed AE buttons aswell for other programs (not sure if that will matter for AE buttons)
im not really getting along with it.
cant see the optino for changing what the volume keys do etc.
Also, would it be possible to set a longer hold of the End Key that would launch the camera application and be used as shutter button?
Thanks
Hmm, interesting thoughts! Especially if the remap is done automatically, and only when the camera is launched.

I believe this issue with scrolling will be resolved with WM6.5 when you can slide the bar up/down to do a selection. In the meantime I use a simple method to scroll/select - say a SMS message. I open the abc phone pad (icon at bottom of screen) and then use the up/down keys (at the bottom) to scroll.
AE Button Plus
Just to confirm.. AE Button Plus DOES allow you to remap the volume buttons to up/down arrows. Just installed it on mine (Touch Diamond 2) and it works perfect.
The setting-up routine isn't obvious though.
When you see your list of keys in AEBP, pres and HOLD on the "Volume up" item. Takes a few seconds for the config menu to pop up.
I then used the following options from the config screen:-
3. Handle by AEBPlus
1. Single Press
5. Press Up arrow key
Then do the same for the Volume Down key, obviously changing the last option to 6. Press Down arrow key.
Then File/Save & Exit, and off you go.

Try this...

This program can assign any of the hardware buttons to do what you want...
I've set the back button Launch the 'camera' app if it is held for a while and to act as the capture button when taking a picture. It also acts like a normal 'back' button when in other apps such as file explorer, opera, etc.

Using the software provided in this thread it's possible:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555821
See this thread where I explain how to do that:

Works like a charm!!
You can remap all your hardware buttons.
Cheers

About long.. and short.lnk on HD2

Hi,
I want to configure my HD2 like this:
Short press on End = Default
Long press on End = Power off
Short press on Back = Default
Long press on Back = Start HTC Flashlight
..and so on for all the hard buttons, Green, Red (End), Back, Home, Windows, Vol Up, Vol Down.
I have read several (and I mean several) threads about creating own shortcuts, but I still haven't found the answer..
Long_Power.lnk/Short_Power.lnk/Long_Send.lnk/Short_Send.lnk etc.
Does anyone know if this method works on HD2 and if so, exactly which buttons that are configurable and which names the shortcuts shall have?
Thanks in advance!
AEB Plus
try to search themes and apps for "AEB Plus". It's an app that makes you be able to configure all the hardware buttons with short press and long presses. Good luck!

Thanks for your tip, but I'd prefer own shortcuts/registry hacks if possbile as I try to minimize the number of applications to install/maintain/buy for a very specific reason.
Rename the INK file of the preferred program to LONG_SEND and copy this INK file to WINDOWS root directly. Press and hold the SEND hardkey will execute that preferred program. But the SEND key may not work when there is an incoming call.
Tried AE Button Plus but fail to work with the BACK button.

Thanks, but do you know any other shortcuts that work?
I hope someone else may find method to override the default function of the keys other than SEND. Currently I am using Touchx long press send key for connmanager and you may select other installed program for the long press send key. I have also tried AE Button Plus but the Windows, Home and Back key all cannot be controlled by AE Button no matter double, triple nor long tap.
