For those just using those generic universal car mounts, which ones are you using and how do you like it?
I just bought one at a local store for $20 and it works very good. It has variable width and openings on the bottom for the USB-port, it also doesn't press on the volume buttons at all.
Here's a picture:

Seeing as I upgraded from a 3gs I had an arkon iphone mount already, and it fits the nexus perfectly, very slight interferance with the power button when you first put it in, but on long journies its been perfect for me, no problems whatsoever
Several years ago I bought a RAM mount system that still proves useful today. It's a great option because I go through new gadgets quite often. RAM has a system where you only need to buy the holder once you have purchase the mount and mount arm. It's not expensive and it's rock solid in construction. I have holders for my Garmin 60CSx, my UMPC, and one that fits my smartphones. One twist and I can swap in any one of those three.

Hi all,
Thinking of picking up a used phone to replace my girlfriend's battered and bruised handset, she is on Verizon.
Here's the usage...
- Heavy texting so needs a HW qwerty Keyboard.
- Tough - she can kill technology from 30ft with mind bullets
- Web browser, something actually usable like Opera would be great
- Camera
- Storage & player for music and 3.5mm jack for headphones
Thanks for any suggestions.
Go for Touch Pro 2
no 3.5mm jack but an adapter can be used

She'll kill that thing in seconds, I have a Touch Pro and I have to keep it away from her lol. She drops her phone on average once a day I think he he he.

maybe then something without a touchscreen as dropping touchscreen phones is a big killer

I dont think the Rose is available in the US
so i can charge overnight but use Kaloer Clock? leaving it upright wouldn't look as nice
If it had some kind of stand and was slanted back a bit and had no finger prints it would look nice standing up
There's a desk holder, what can hold phones like that.
it's called Desk Genie Non-Slip Charging Desk Stand
Check it out here :

I don't think there's a special dock for the Desire, because the USB connector is on the bottom, not on the side like on the moto droid...
will check that out, ta
just want to either have kaoler clock going, or maybe that fishy background with some ocean sounds from white noise while asleep
My friend has a similar dock to the above shown one, its not too bad but I remember he told me that he has to keep cleaning it every week otherwise the dust/dirt that collects on it will reduce the "non-slippiness" and basically the phone will slide off it.
Or maybe this one off the bay for £10.50? Not tried it myself am wondering which one to buy....

Have you tried using a Crabble stand
I find it really useful and it does the job fine

I saw those, but didn't like the flap bit at the top. So i got one of these, doesn't have the flappy bit, but only used it the once.
nice will have a look
I had one of these, very cheap quality. I also wouldn't recommend this case because of the magnet, it made my screen flicker for no reason. took ages for it to go away after i stopped using the case.
Ugly!
Well, it's a matter of person taste in the end. But still. Urgh.
looks very bold
my 2 cents on the cases
I have purchased both cases from dx. I like model 2 better as it has a bit more internal foam in it to protect the phone. I've dropped mine from 4 feet onto concrete and the phone was undamaged. I've never seen the magnets cause any problems on my phone i9000m. For the price I really like the case.
I was wondering if anyone knows the surface mount part number for the power button on the TF101. My kids not only broke the plastic but also knocked off the surface mount switch.
I've downloaded volume on/off apps but sometimes you need a real power button when flashing and what not.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Have a look through these parts, you might find it here
http://www.asusparts.eu/en/partfinder/Asus/Pad/Eee pad/TF101
I saw that on another thread but they replace the entire unit i think. I'm sure there has to be a digikey equivalent or something for just the switch right?
I mean I can short the two pins and it powers on/off so i'm sure the the module is fine. I just need the switch.
That site is just a parts site, they just send you out whatever you ask for, I just linked to it because they list the part number on the items
It's just a micro switch really, you could probably find one on ebay, it's only job is to press to connect and release to disconnect, any micro switch that you can find to fit should work
Few here

EDIT - Something like the smallest here

Yeah this is more like what I was thinking....Thanks a ton man!
No probs, give us an update if you get it fixed
In another thread someone asked me to take a picture of my setup so here it is, its a Brodit phone cradle that is custom made for specifically the LG V10 and is mounted to the car using a Kuda leather mount that matches my E550's interior.
Up until recently I have always used CarComm cradles because they use a modular design where you don't need to rewire the car every time you get a new phone but since they didn't make one yet for the V10 I switched to Brodit mount and is hard wired to constant power. The converted box is a 2A charger and is SUPER fast at charging the phone. On my 30 minute commute I get a good 35-40% charge with the GPS running..

In my previous E-Class (years ago) I used the CarComm cradle and as you can see with this one you only replace the phone holder part and dont have to re-wire the whole thing when you get a new phone:
