What Exactly does SPL Mean? - General Topics

Forgive a noob for asking a dumb question, but can someone please tell me exactly what the acronym SPL actually stands for? I understand what it is and all that, but I'm just interested in knowing what the letters stand for.

Thanks for that, Stylez. Apologies for not acknowledging your reply before but I clean forgot that I had posted this question until I stumbled on a link to this thread in my Favorites just now.
Thanks again.

Don't start new topics for the same questions!! You asked this question in two other related topics already, that's more than enough..
Nobody's gonna answer your question any faster if you keep starting new threads for every question you have.. damn.
excuse me.. but if you dont have any helpful info, better dont reply. we're posting topic because we seek help of those who have the answers.

What the f*** is wrong with people? DO NOT open a new thread just to post the same damn information you've already posted in another thread.
Read the rules of XDA and follow them please - reported.

I would suggest trying Google to make sure you are using the correct software or just don't do it. A smart phone as a paper weight ain't cool
As has been stated, double posting is not allowed. I'll leave this one open, but your other identical thread has been closed. In the future, please search before posting and only create one thread. Thanks for your cooperation.

Actually I don't understand. I do understand the rules, that's why I didn't ask this question myself, but I don't understand why somebody would impose such a rule. I mean a guy who asks silly questions will ask a silly question even in his 11th post, while someone who doesn't usually ask silly questions will probably not do so from the first post.
...
A few weeks ago I managed to S-OFF, root and then install a lot of custom ROMs on my old Desire S, all that without asking any questions, just by reading the forum. In fact I didn't even feel the need to register.
But after that, I registered on the forum not to ask something, but to answer a question, I think it was about a broken link for an ENG S-OFF HBOOT, which I had found in another place and had successfully flashed.
Then I was shown the rules. The thread I was trying to reply to was in a "development-related forum", so as a new user I couldn't post a reply. I thought it would be kind of silly to post, as you put it, 10 "random posts", for the sole purpose of being able to post a useful one. So I gave up.
Maybe I am wrong, but I think this rule is doing more bad than good, at least in this particular case it certainly did. To avoid cluttering the forum with useless posts and silly questions, maybe a voting system would have been better? Something like the opposite of the "Thanks" button, allowing other users to vote down a post as inappropriate, then when it got a number of negative votes, it would be automatically deleted, or hidden as spam.
Just an idea...
