I have a ORANGE SPV M5000 with an SD card 2GB.I'm byuing a new card with 4 GB.How do i transfer the data from the old to the new card,in order to keep all the software i have installed on the storage card ? Can i simply copy the content to the new one via computer or card reader,or do i have to "clone" it,with some kind of backup software ?
A simple copy should do the trick just fine.
The only time there is a problem transferring something from one card to another is when you have a program that is locked on the cards serial number (like a nav program).
Although as far as I know such programs always come on their own SD so it is unlikely you installed anything like that.
No,i didn't install anything like that. Thanks for your help, would be bad if i had to install everything all over again
Thanx again
hi i just got my sensation yesterday and im thinking of upgrading my micro sd card to 16 or 32gb ... question is if i changed the card, what happens to the installed apps on my previous card? do i need to install the apps again? is there a way to port the installed apps to the new card?
anyone? ..thanks in advance for your help
Kumusta Pare! Just copy everything from your old sd card to your computer then transfer it to your new sd card.

thanks for the reply! so i would assume if everything is copied from the old sd card...there would be no problems putting in the new one so long as the files/folders remain the same. thanks.
That is correct! I think.
I really doubt that!!!
Your data should be fine (pics, music etc)
but if you have installed apps on your SD, I would recommend re-installing them on the new SD
So the step would be..
1- Copy all data from old sd to pc
2- put the new sd in and copy the data to the new sd from pc
3- Re-install apps.
usually, just copying the whole SD card to the new one is enough, as said above, that's what I did from a 16Go to a 32go, that's what I did from 08 to 16 on my former phone.
Maybe one or two apps will require reinstalling (I doubt, all of my downloaded apps were working when I went from 16 to 32Go with my Sensation) but you won't lose any data.
Thanks for the replies!

I have been unable to fix my titanium backup pro app and am not sure about deleting and re installing. Probably should restore everything but that is a weeks work.
The problem is that the app does not show the option to move to sd card in batch actions, Under the Move/Intergrate option it shows one listing, updates of system apps into ROM.
I have rooted and have this Titanium Pro and superuserSU installed. Also installed the sd card fix
to change the line of code to the 4.3 version where you could move apps (next app sd card fix). Also have the SElinux mode changer running.
The write to folder in Titanium was emulated storade at the install but 2 days ago I got the new folder named and it is using the sd card for backups anyway
It seems weird because I have not seen one listing on any web forums or in google about it not being shown under move/intergrate.
A few days ago I ran across a work around changing the android sofware to fix this but I am not up to that. Thanks for any help on this.
Oh I also bought a samsung brand 70'ms read 64gb micro sd card just in case and put it in.
Hi everyone
This may seem like a stupid question, but when new OS upgrades come out, do they replace the old one entirely or does it sit alongside the old OS? Additionally when apps update do they replace the old app files or does it mount on top of the already existing app? The reason I'm asking this is because my old HTC Wildfire S (which I had to root soon after using Link2SD to improve storage) had poor internal storage by default and the only for me to get an app to update was to uninstall it and install the latest update straight from the Play Store.
My current Motorola Moto G 4G only has an advertised 8GB internal storage and I can no longer update any more apps because it is full.
I've moved several apps already to my SD card (the ones I rarely use) leaving the apps I use daily on the internal storage for better performance.
Relating to SD cards, if I have apps installed on my SD card and I backup that SD card on NTFS external HDD for example, wipe my SD card and transfer the backup to the SD card, will the apps installed continue to work?
Many thanks
Will

So regarding your first question, when your internal storage is full, you can't update apps because android first download the complete apk file and then updates it. If you don't have space then it can't be updated which means to update a 30 MB app, you need more 30 MB free.
Then regarding your second question, yes, if your apps have data installed on your SD card, they will work when you backup and put the SD card back hence giving them the data back. But make sure its completely installed on your SD card.
Hope I helped.
I'm getting a new Shield Portable and wanted to know what is the best and easiest way to move all of my installed apps, emulators and such over to the new one? I was just going to copy the folders over to the new one but I'm sure there will be problems. Also I am not rooted.
I have apps installed on the device, but I've also had the OS move some of the installs over to the external SD card to save storage, so I was certain just copying them will cause issues with updates and stuff, but I don't know for sure.
Also I have emulators installed as well and then moved them over to the external SD card.
I know the roms will be ok as they're not installed and just sitting on the external SD card.
Is there an easy way to move all of this stuff over? Any apps that would help with this? Anything?
any help would be appreciated
