I know many others asked for it, and I finally got around to trying it myself. All credit goes to bbuchacher and cyanogen for this...
CM 4.2.14.1 kernel for Super D!!! NO RAM HACK!
I built this using the boot.img from Super D 1.9.2 . I'm still using Super D 1.8, and this worked with no problems so far. I would imagine this would work with pretty much any Super D rom, but I know for sure it works on 1.8 and up. 3d games are working great! There is some slowdown on screen transitions (as was expected), but Super D is still running super fast. I've had no FC's and seen no problems with any of my regularly used apps.
As like any other mod posted here, I am not responsible for any damage, bricking, etc etc, that may occur to your device. Use at your own risk.
EASIEST WAY TO FLASH:
- Unzip boot.zip
- Place boot.img on your sdcard
- Open a terminal emulator on your phone, su yourself
- flash_image boot /sdcard/boot.img
- reboot
There is no startup animation. You'll just see a white rectangle in the middle of your screen during boot.
I love you. Too bad there's no boot up animation =P oh well I'll live with it, usually keep my phone on anyways....
you can metamorph the second screen so its not just a white rectangle.
man, wow you are da bomb~! Thank you for making the best rom better!

Ahh, too bad I don't know how to do that =3
works with FastTest2.6.1
Works on HtcClay's FastTest 2.6.1
Probably because they are very similar. I actually built it in instead of updating.
***Update: Wifi not working either, and I tried pushing CM's 4.2.12.2 wlan.ko
Had a strange issue where volume buttons were only controlling media volume. This was after trying a few 3d games, but a reboot fixed it.
Actually, everything seems a little quicker after the reboot.
wifi broken
after installing the boot.img and rebooting twice wifi is now broken anyone else with this issue?
i'm running 1.9.2 nexus black

You need the wlan.ko that was compiled with the kernel you are using.
This is awesome.
Too bad I don't play games on my g1 though =\ I feel like my battery would die in seconds if I tried any 3d games
Eh yeah on 1.9.2 the wifi breaks. I am sad.
After I get home later tonight, I'll see if I can get wifi working. If all it needs is the wlan.ko from cm, that should be extremely easy.
Thanks mate, tempted me to smash my G1 on the ground =D
wlan fix
tested and working
*** The attached file is NOT a zip file. Rename the file wlan.ko . I'm on a PowerPC iBook, and I hate it.***
- Download the file
- Rename it wlan.ko
- Copy it to your sd card
- Boot into recovery mode
- Go into Console
- mount -a
- mv /sdcard/wlan.ko /system/lib/modules
- reboot
You could also do all this with adb.
Congratulations, wifi works.
Finally no RAM-Hack!
I love you alongenemylines
Gonna post an update.zip including wifi.ko in a second
/edit1: here is the update.zip... just flash as normal.
not tried yet, so don't flash it without nandroid... hope it works. gonna try it out in just another sec...
/edit2: did something wrong. wait a second
Glad someone decided to dissect Ben's kernel and revert the 10MB hack, I personally dont use it at all, but at least people will stop complaining about it. Thanks again!
Thank you for this!Cannot stand the ramhack in the ROMS.
Working Update.Zip
So here it is:
Just flash this .zip file over your existing installation of superD/fastTest and enjoy your 3d games..
COMPCACHE from spare parts is not working. :/ (Maybe need the spare parts from cyan? trying out now) (nope it doesn't)
Swap partition (via DroidSwap for example) works fluently. currently enjoying armageddon squadron on superD (maybe the first person on earth? epic )
All work has been done by alongenemylines. He is also the one that messed up the boot animation. White square instead of png
boot animation is working fine on fasttest. (For superd you can include cyans boot animation or just install any theme.)
32 mb of swap recommended!
Have Fun!
/edit: 3d framerate feels high enough.
/Edit: again, just to clarify: I din't do anything to make this possible.all credits go to alongenemylines who included cyans kernel.
/edit: seems to be not working for everyone.
Thanks for making an update.zip for the masses.
For everyone wanting compcache / swap control, just learn how to edit your custom_init. There's a good amount of info on it in the Super D thread

Back your apps up as an update in case you do a wipe using this:
Download Incremental.zip above. Back all the apps up you want.
Open the archive and replace the apps in the data/app directory.
Sign the archive like a regular update and place in root of SD card.
Flash the update you want. When finished, flash Incremental.zip
Reboot the phone and both the update and apps will be installed.
User.conf file can be found as system/bin/hero.conf on any device.
No command needed for device identification. Faster boot (hopefully).
A reboot is no longer needed to use either device. This is all integrated.
Recommended not to overclock below 256, due to the black screen issue.
Compcache is enabled by default, current values were EXTENSIVELY tested.
Please do not contact me asking what values work or giving me others.
I spent 2 weeks changing values, testing, changing, testing. Both devices.
Abreviated Changelog, Full Changelog linked below:
Optimized the entire system app folder using the automated method.
Changed some animations. A lot of new stuff in use from Cyanogen.
This is a very unthemed build. The lock screen and such are generic.
The boot animation is customized and will not port to other builds.

So much to do so little time, I do feel like the "white rabbit"
Now includes dynamic swap. Rewrote the method of apps to sd for myTouch.
Build will move system apps, user apps, and dalvik to sd on a g1 device.
Build will install completely internal if using the T-Mobile myTouch.
This is a completely new method of doing a merge build so bear with me.
Based on the System Image from Haykuro
Using the Kernel and modules from JacSki
Try rm system/sd/app_s if you feel new apps are not installing.

Housekeeping:
Back everything up. This means run some sort of data backup if you want to keep your settings

Warnings:
You MUST have the newest SPL
You MUST have a Class 6 SD Card
You MUST know how to read
You MUST have 3 partitions
You MUST have at least 256MB EXT
You MUST have Recovery1.4 or above

He most likely got the idea on his own. I just think since ZeroXd didn't get any real response he didn't notice it had LED support about a week before the 1.3 refresh was even posted. Ask the kids on twitter about back when I came up with the looney idea and how it killed auto-rotate. I threw in an old version of the codes before someone asked if I had seen the thread. I was still using ones ported from my GScript from months ago. Haha, whatever makes a better build. I'm glad to see both Drizzy and JAC getting SOME use out of something I had a part in. Hell, Shafty figured out the commands, I just got lucky figuring out where to place them.
wow, this is kinda when jac and drizzy was working together and it seemed like jac took all the credit in the built. well thats good we still got devs that supprt each other and not use ones idea and run away with it.

Thanks man. I was telling you before, all about the INVERT. Haha. Make it all black, hit invert, all white. Kinda had to go a bit grey though for visibility. I would have left Champion the way it is but I couldn't help it when I figured out that boot animation trick. Anyway, both downloads are live.
Im running it, it seems to run very nice its real smooth think this might be my main rom, Nice work mate.

my bad for not being clear. I did.
mount -o rw /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd
rm -rf /system/sd/*
to clear the ext4 from recovery console.
I would suggest doing a Nandroid backup - just in case
Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?umznkzjtgdz
Someone mentioned a bug for a couple app crashes
All right, screw it. I am going to remove the CM stuff and just push the nav/fb, ram hack, etc as just an incremental update
To-Do:
Music.apk - Rewrite to ignore music less than 30sec long (aka voicemails)
BFS 310 Kernel with 10mb RAM hack (BFS 310 hasn't been tested by anyone else yet, why not try)
Add Fix_Permissions v2.03 (running the default 1.31 right now)
ZipAlign all apps (including Google apps)
[Suggest more!]
Converting from Cliq/Hero/1.5 - see below for instructions
Need Google Apps - see below for instructions
Includes:
10mb hack - working on adding bfs310 (seriously if you can help PLEASE DO)
Google Navigation works
Facebook included
Includes HTC IME
Clears cache of old files
Installs RA Recovery
MANY MANY TWEAKS
Adjusted a2sd (mt3g: one time copy from /system/sd to data for apps)
Note: this discontinues A2SD from then on for better performance after apps have been copied, am making script to copy back to SD
For fastest possible speed: have a swap partition on your SD card
The ROM will load a2sd for G1's
If you don't have /system/sd (and just swap partition), it will swapon to that
Trick is it utilises both Cyanogen's compcache plus the swap
Then with 10mb hack - hell this is a perfectly fast ROM
See at the bottom if you need Google Apps (starting on clean build or converting from any 1.5 ROM (Hero/Cliq) OR if you are starting with a blank phone lol (aka no system partition at all))
Hero/Cliq/1.5: Yyou will have to run the thing at the bottom for your phone to convert to 1.6 Donut - run that first, then run main zip).. if you still have probs see the bottom of this post
If you are switching from Hero or Cliq see the bottom
This rom does NOT include Google Apps
Install this first for Google Apps:
http://www.mediafire.com/?z3ozzmyzrad
If coming from Hero/Cliq
Run recovery mode
Hit console
Type these commands:
mount /data
cd /data/data
rm -r com.google.*
rm -r com.htc.*
rm -r com.android.*
Thanks to Cyanogen, Maxisma(for my base on a2sd), daproy (RAM hack),
Amon_RA (recovery image)

I remember reading somewhere that this will lead to problems, and should not be done. From my understanding you should use one or the other, not both.
(otherwise wouldn't we see alot more Devs using that trick?)
can a no wipe update be done from cm 4.2.5?
Thanks for you~
hey guys Good work
Only thing ive ever had come out of the 10mb hack was random reboots, random ringtones. phone ringing when noone was calling. crashing getting texts...
But thanks for the effort lol
Didn't work. Caused me to get stuck on G1 boot screen for an hour. Then totally wiped and again sat there on the G1 boot screen. What is odd is that for some reason my recovery image disappeared and went to JF 1.42 so I couldn't even use recovery. Now I am trying to get my phone back to the way it was.
Fortunately, I still had all the files I needed on my SD card to get me back to where I was. i reinstalled the recovery image and then was able to load my recovery image again. How it got to JF 1.42 (which hasn't been on the phone is many months) is beyond me. I have been doing phone mods for many years and this is the first one that didn't work out.
So, no go?
Unexpected end of Archive......
I tried to do the same thing (cm 2.4.5 + ramhack + swap) but got nowhere, system became sluggish. This should work very well in theory (this should be fast as dwang but with all cm goodies) but I haven't been able to make it work so I'm following this thread and see how it works.

Yea I am about to test on my G1 to look around for the bug - my main phone is my myTouch so I didn't test before I posted LOL - my bad on that (it is just in this recent version since worked fine on a friend's G1 before this post)
If you have wave, could you get on there if you want to help debug?
If you have a logcat, just post it here or on pastebin and shoot me the link on Twitter (@wesgarner)
One big thing I am trying to work on here is going through and doing some things Cyanogen couldn't do
Next version I am going to do zipalign on the Google Apps to post that (on a sep update zip for people who prefer to stay legal, hope I don't get a D&S - don't think anyone else has)
I am thinking about doing a choose your kernel like Cyrowski did here - good idea?
Please give any suggestions, this just seems a good way to do some playing around and experimenting that is a project by everybody - developers and users
Also, next project: Write a test into Music.apk to ignore files less than 30sec (I have my voicemails through Visual Voicemail and Google Voice)
It is annoying as crap! Going to get the GIT for Music.apk later today
Can someone mirror this or create a torrent? media fire is so slow today
Ok im seeding but warning if you go from 4.2.5 like me you may get a boot loop like i am right now good thing i backed up
Torrent link: http://bit.ly/blah234
guys this rom is ****. i flashed a number of times, then i wiped all partitions and tried again. dosent work just g1 boot loops, im going to stop seeding. dont trust this guy this rom is bad
LOL, dude, why are people keep thinking any Rom based on the same rom works better? Wake up people. If you use Cyanogen, use Cyanogen, If you use Dwang, use Dwang. any other so call hack does not make it better. Wake up, wake Up. Wake Up. LOL.
I have been using the so call Ram hack, it does NOT make it better after long hour of usage. It slows it down. At least on my G1. I reverted back to Stock boot img, it just WORKS.
hey guys...
Congrats on Hero_over on the retirement, but you didnt have to mention my name in your post. I dont even consider myself a ROM developer, I just made a nice rom thats fast and stable for me, and I wanted to share. I dont want nor expect donations. I just love this community and I figure maybe someone out there would like this ROM. Its all love though.
i have this rom that i've made and have been using for the past two-three weeks. as i've been going along i've been tweaking it to my liking, and its very fast for me and i have no force closes. i wasn't even going to post this rom, but i thought maybe somebody out there would like it.
First off: G1 (HTC Dream) ONLY!!!! They say it works for mt3g, so you can try but I made it for the G1.
its based on dwangs 1.17.1 rom.
i edited the boot.img to include cyanogen's 4.2.12.2 kernel ( NO ramhack, so you can enjoy 3D games and apps)
i added the black statusbar
added nano so you can edit scripts in terminal on-the-fly
ext 2 through 4 supported
automatic a2sd!
added meltus audio hack v2r2
edited alot of pngs.. themed STOCK launcher with nexus tray
eclair contacts.apk
youtube 1.5.08
eclair calculator
compcache working...
userinit.sh support in /system/sd/
updated market
like i said i wasnt going to post it, but i thought maybe somone would like it...so if u flash it. let me know how it works for you.
REQUIREMENTS
DANGER SPL and UPDATED RADIO (THE NORM)
ext 2-4 partition
swap partition if you want.
PLEASE WIPE DATA BEFORE YOU FLASH!!!
Sidenote:I never usually wipe my entire ext partition before I flash any ROM. If you have access to a linux box and sd card reader I usually just delete the DALVIK-CACHE folder and APP-PRIVATE... although my APP-PRIVATE is always empty. I think what causes the crashing at boot when you don't erase the ext is the dalvik-cache. I leave my APP folder and my userinit.sh there, and when I reboot and it dexopts all of my apps and when it finally starts up all my apps are there from the beginning. NOW! You might have to reinstall some apps which might FC when you try to run it, but you can easily with a file manager and browsing to /system/sd/app/ and reinstalling.
But that's just me, I find that more convenient that reinstalling 111 apps one-by-one. If thats too much...
WIPE EXT PARTITION BEFORE FLASH.
ChangeLog-
Boogiedonut.5
Davilk-cache on sd card
Added latest WiredTether and WirelessTether, and the newer Terminal
Added transparent notification drop down
Fixed A2SD script to correctly run e2fsck
/system/sd/userinit.sh support, if not, then linux-swap if you have swap partition, or compcache if you don't
Reverted to stock Android bootsplash
boogiedonut.2
changed boot.img to use /etc/init.d as custom_init
turned on compcache by default ( 32mb disklimit ), if no /system/sd/userinit.sh present
changed status bar battery icon with default hero one
reverted back to nexus themed launcher, changed launcher background to darker png
edited phone.apk to replace all in-call screens with stock 1.6, (still eclair dialer)
added WIRED tether. works great, trust!
keep dalvik-cache on internal memory... ( i have over 100 applications on my sd, and have 29.50 mb free internal) - apps still on sd
BOOGIEDONUT.1
Added LatinIME.apk and reverted to working alarm clock
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ifr7oa
mirror: http://www.mediafire.com/?madu0lqmuyw
I'll also add the userinit.sh that I use for me it's makes it pretty fast, it just sets cpu max to 528, min to 384 Mhz. Compcache with 24 MB dize size, without swap partition. Backing swap with 16 MB mem limit, with swap partition, 30 swappiness. Just unzip then, adb push to /system/sd/.
Eclair STOCK theme'd launcher... I dont use advanced launcher, I'm pretty sure you can just "rm -r /system/app/Launcher" and then adb push advanced launcher to /system/app/ if you want to use that.

Very Cool. I had done something similar myself when I got tired of 3d apps not working cuz of the ramhack except mine was too buggy for my liking. I will try it out and see how the speed compares with dwangs/cyan's (came from dwang to cyan and not diggin it ). I'll post back with some results!
EDIT: Just installed and started playing around with it. Everything seems good so far. One thing is that i got FC on installation. I figured out that eventually when i got past the FC and activated that either there was a problem during setup that the keyboard IME did not get installed or you forgot to include them. No worries. I just pulled them from another rom and installed and all is dandy. Gonna restore some apps and see how that goes and give another update when I can.

If you had a backup, just restore from that and then you can check your radio version. Aside from that just make sure you wiped before installing.
It hangs on G1 screen, I have the latest radio and SPL installed.

you are right i did not include a keyboard IME. Myself I perfer the HTC_IME and it can only be adb installed to the phone, instead of being build into the ROM. If you want I can include a new version with LatinIME.apk included.

i fixed it in the boogiedonut.1 update as well as missing keyboard
Extremely fast.
But... I have a couple of problems
My Pro's and Con's
Pros:
1.Extremely fast, no lag on the launcher at all.
2. It even speeds up dolphin broswer for some reason.
3. Fast, fast, fast.
Cons:
1. Did notice only three homescreens, had gotten used to 5 but no biggie. Maybe an update if demanded by enough members?
2. Some of my widgets (Including Paid:Weather Flip clock) get stuck on updating. All Mippin mobile widgets get stuck on updating too. Edit: fixed with a reboot, sorry about that mate.
3. Missing spare parts, can I just add that in myself?
I'm running on 96mb swap, did a full wipe, came from Latest Cyan .12 I think.

Would like to see a 5-screens-launcher too.
Maybe you could integrate the Advanced Launcher (user can select the number of screens)
I'm for 5 screens, but against AdvancedLauncher. It has not been updated for a long time and seems to be slowing down the phone quite a bit.
I want to try this Rom but I cant download from sendspace. Plz upload it in mediafire.

Most people have 3rd Party apps they use.
If options you need were removed,
this ROM may not be for you.
::: SD Setup :::
Swap
Fat
ext - optional - only has Froyo app2sd
::: TO INSTALL :::
- Do whatever you do for backing up, example: nandroid
- Wipe with this method:
---- While USB plugged to the computer,
---- run the bat in this post and format this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6855422&postcount=3
---- to ensure full format, I also use AmonRa recovery wipe options
---- just to be safe
---- If you are comfortable in ADB, then just use it to run this command:
adb shell mount -a; rm -rf /system/*; rm -rf /data/*; rm -rf /cache/*;
---- You can skip the bat file if you do this
- Flash ROM ONLY
- Reboot Device
- After that, change whatever settings you would like. DO NOT INSTALL ANYTHING.
- Just Setup CM settings, wifi, etc (optional)
---- I like to enable wifi and put in my network key
---- so my wifi is going when the market begins
---- to sync my apps
- Reboot Recovey
- Flash GAPPS
- Reboot
- Unlock after reboot and you will be prompted with the Google sign in.
---- After unlock, I usually plug it in, have wifi enabled,
---- set it up under 'USB Debugging' to "stay awake when plugged in"
---- and leave it alone for a bit. This way, you aren't stressing out your system
---- while the market is downloading 100 apps at once lol
---- This is also why I reboot and setup PRIOR to installing gapps.
---- A reboot or three may be needed to ensure everything is settled in nicely
---- If you are wondering where your responsiveness is, look at your downloads
---- in the market, see if you are still syncing. If you reboot during some downloads,
---- you may need to cancel and restart them.
Fully Tested on my G1.
Current Phone Specs:
- Danger SPL
- G1-radio-2_22_23_02
- Dithering OFF (CM Options)
- 96mb Swap
- 512mb ext3 - just in case, this way, if I need an ext partition, I dont
-------------- have to re-format the entire card.

Like I said, I use 3rd party apps for that.
I use Camera Zoom FX and mAPPn360
Those apps are much slower than the stock camera app imo. What's wrong with the camera app included in CM6? Snappy for me

I knew I wasn't the only one who didn't want all the other junk!
Hey marlo, I have a problem. I've never modded my g1 before and decided to do this rom first off. I went back and rooted it and then installed amon ra recovery and did radio update to 2.22 and danger spl.
I flashed your rom through recovery and it booted up fine the first three times but for some reason now it wont stop rebooting. It gets to the home screen, "press menu(my bad) 'swipe' to unlock", for about a second or two and then screen fades as if I did a battery pull. Then boots right back up.
I'm going to try some things when i get home, in recovery, when I wipe before install, am I suppossed to wipe all options in that sub menu? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you and all others in advance.
Alright still having the same problem. I loaded in recovery and wiped everything except the sdcard partition, which I dont have my sdcard partitioned, so I didnt want to do it and wipe my rom zip.
After wiping everything else I reflashed the rom from sd. And rebooted from recovery. Rom loaded up great and worked perfect on first boot for about an hour until I decided to reboot it to make sure everything was working great and it started again.
Will load up to "swipe to unlock" and once its done preparing sd card it fades like I did a batt pull. Help, please?
Ok, sorry I wasn't following forum rules. I didn't know the meaning of the term "search". I spent a good 45 straight minutes searching just now as well as searching earlier today, but you guys are right, it pays off. I had wifi on, and only after a reboot would it go into the wifi reboot bug because on first launch with no wifi on it would connect without rebooting.
Hey marlo, I have some questions about this build and about a stripped down version of android to run games. Answer on here if you like, but I'll PM you about it.
Sorry for the delay. Your bug may have something to do with cyanogen, or what I removed. CM has been known to do similar things.
I never experienced your scenario, but I'm not saying I doubt you.
Games ran fine for me, I played robo defense all the time.
Thanks for trying my version of CM.

Great job Marlo. I like what you did with the Mod. Without all other stuff on there my battery last longer. Now i can add the .apk that i want.

This will not wipe your data, ALthough always best to start fresh!
- [Kernel] [GPL] Sense 2.6.32.21 OC/UV 1.51GHZ (CFS-Smartass-TUN) Thanks to bcnice20
- Default CPU clock will be 1.0ghz with ondemand , changable thru setcpu or if you want to edit the kernel directly. I have never been a fan of the overclocking apps as once the system is boot they need to wait for the SU to grant permissions for the settings. this way it is from boot.
Remove the script below to use setcpu
If you would like to change the defaults in the kernel just look in system/etc/init.d/ 80screenstate_scaling
echo 245760 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq
echo 1209600 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq
System Currently boot at 1.2 ghz with the script. if you have issues with this speed remove the sript and reboot. This will allow for the settings in the kernel to boot at 1ghz.
- Unlocked 3G USB tethering & Sprint Hotspot - no need for any other apks aka wired or wireless tether
- Read ahead fixed to 256k for the SDcard (speed fix) - should increase the read times from sdcard
- 5meg limit on the mms
- Tweaks for the system to increase overall performance
- 4 in 1 menu w/hibernation (photo at bottom of post)

good deal nand welcome to the shift. ha ha. bout to test this out know. ive tried out some of your hero stuff and seen the good work you've done.
I did a full wipe before flashing, and it booted up, but does not seem to have a functioning launcher. If I turn the screen off, and back on, I see the lock screen, but swiping down results in a black screen.
Make sure you have cache wiped too, sounds like maybe a corupt download.
I've been running this for four days and have not had a single hiccup.

if you can could you get me a ddms or logcat while booting so I can see what may be causing this issue for you.
As I said previously I dont have amy shift yet so I can only possibly track down the issue if you can grab a logcat or ddms report of the issue.
Thanks

I apologize, I already did a nandroid recover. Everything went through fine on the logcat, but after boot it kept giving me an error in regard to wakelock not responding. I probably had a bad download. I will try again this weekend (have to go meet the wife right now) and let you know the results. I am really excited to run this, so I am sure I can get it to work eventually. Thanks a lot for your work on this.
Running well for me, and I'm using bcnice20's oc-uv sense kernel with it ... albeit according to quadrant a little slower than the stock odex rom with the same kernel.

Well that is great then considering odex vs deodexed, cause we all now that there is about a 15 to 20% loss with deodexing a rom. Once I get my shift I will odex and really get into slimlineing the rom, just like the HeroC
Man it is great to see you here!! When I sold my hero, the guy wanted to keep your ROM that I was running on it. Paypal is about to see some action once I try this out.

Any way to add the power widgets like CM6 had on the pull down menu? I loved having all my stuff soo easy to turn on/off. Usually I didnt like Sense because it slowed down the phone but the shift is super fast with it. I'm looking forward to the odex version your planning on making. Thanks for your hard work!

I am new to all this rooting and installing new roms, so please bare with me. I have downloaded this rom twice to my computer, but can not get it to install on my phone. I have extracted the file to my sd card, did a data wipe on phone, went to install zip from sd, but cannot "find" and install new rom. Any suggestions? At least I have found out how to do recovery.
