Boobies Boot Animation (Kinda SFW, no nudity) - Nexus One Themes and Apps

This isn't mine, all credit goes to @WootRoot, but he came up with a more attractive boot animation to say the least.

Mods, if you feel this isn't acceptable I guess you can pull it down, but it's not really all that bad. Show some love

Oh, for those that don't know how to add a boot animation:
adb shell mount data
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local/
adb shell reboot

keep it zipped.
you can try putting it in the /system/media directory, also. (that's where I put my replacements at least and it works just fine)

Maybe a stupid (stock) question but for all us Android / Linux noobs...
Do we need root for this?
Thanks in advance.

i get an error ... data failed device or resource busy....what am i doing wrong?

I dont know why I want to put this on my phone, but I do.
Could someone upload it somewhere else, I have exceeded my limit from rapid share.

This is about when you wish your phone is stuck in an endless reboot cycle...
I know I would!

Any chance we can get a non Rapidshare mirror for these files??

Do NOT push it to system media, push it to data local... that is how you replace the boot animation on a nexus on
e, plain and simple
For those who asked if you need root, of course you do
Anyone having issues with it is doing it wrong or the file is becoming corrupted during download. The instructions are clear follow them and it works
And once again, its data/local... don't push it to system/media

does anyone want to be kind enough to upload this to mediafire.

Wanted to add my sexy boot animation =P

[GUIDE] How to customize a ROM

I've been getting a lot of messages asking, 'How do you create ROM's?' Well, I got so many I decided to make this. This process is called cooking a ROM.
The first thing you have to do is get a ROM that's already been created and signed that you'd like to change around. Make sure it's a signed update.zip. Then, you unzip the rom, and you should see directories, like data/ and system/. If you want to add/remove applications in the ROM, you would goto data/app/. In there you will find the apk's of files that will be pre-installed on the ROM. You can add or remove the apk's there. Another place for the apk's is in /system/app. You really shouldn't put new apk's in here, but you can remove the system apk's. So, if you wanted to remove Sprint TV, delete Sprint_tv.apk. Also, the apk's can be treated as zip's; you can unzip them and look inside, and if you wanted to, change around the icon's and stuff like that. After you are done changing around the ROM, you might want to edit the build.prop (This part is optional!) You would find it in system/build.prop. Look for a line that says 'ro.build.description='. You can edit that with the name of your ROM. When your all done, you would zip it all back up, and sign the update.zip. On windows, this is pretty easy. Download flipz pre-kitchen, and use a setting in tools called something like sign apk/update.zip. Navigate to where you put your rom, and sign it. Then, your rom should be ready to flash.
This is also a good post to read:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551711
Notes:
*DO NOT* TRY TO FLASH A GSM ROM TO A CDMA HERO!
If you edited a apk, make sure to sign it before zipping it and signing the update.zip.
If you have any problems, I created a IRC channel for this, so I can give live support:
server: irc.bikcmp.info port 6667 (port 6670 for SSL)
channel #hero-cdma
If you don't have a IRC client, use mibbit:

What's even better is it's being DDoSed. . Anyone got a spare server? LOL.
But seriously, DDoS'es ARE NOT COOL.
Alright, I've got my ROM made and everything -- signed it as well. I put it on my SD Card, and its flashes successfully -- but now I'm stuck at the HTC Screen?
I took the battery out; went back into recovery and Wiped and formatted my SD Card, and flashed again (successful), but still stuck on HTC screen?
Any ideas?

I think this is crazy awesome to give a small how to on 'cooking' ROMS....I've always been interested! However what are DDoS'es....if it's all good to ask?
I don't have linux on my windows laptop...but do I need to get a dual boot/OS on my laptop to get this running. Last I knew, Linux and Windows were not friends...?

What ROM did you start with...? Did you do all kinds of crazy stuff to it? I found a ROM, downloaded it and opened it....saw a bunch of stuff in there that the OP described. Not quite sure what is game to pull and what is cool to add...?

Alright -- this is what I did.
1. I made a new folder called Penguin
2. Took Gumbo1.5c and unzipped it
3. Moved all the stuff from Gumbo to Penguin
4. Began removing apps I didn't want in /system/app
5. Added some apps in /data/app
6. Added a white taskbar to its respective dir
7. Added Espresso -- again to its respective dir
8. Added the 2.1 Icons
9. SIGNED the new zipped folder (Penguin) successfully
10. Copied to SD Card
11. Flashed successfully
12. When I reboot, I stuck at the HTC Screen (I waited about 2 and half minutes)
Steps I've taken to solve:
1. Removed battery
2. Wiped
3. Formatted card
4. Flashed again
5. Stuck again at HTC (again 2 minutes or so, until removing battery again)
5. Stuck again

DDoS is a denial of service attack. They are attacking my server and also my home network. I've got a lot of it cleared out, but still a lot of IP's doing it. Also, try Wubi for that Linux and windows issue.
Should you have waited longer than 2 and a half mins? I flashed Godzson Dialer and rebooted and it took 5 or 6 mins to boot, and when it did...I was happy.
Not sure if you took too much out or added something you shouldn't have, or just perhaps didn't wait long enough for it to boot.
...OH Wait, you mean that HTC symbol at the very begining..........gotcha now! I at least was on the nexus bootscreen when I waited.
Hope you get an awnser soon, I am looking forward to playing around and perhaps cooking up something good of my own

The directory that the 2.1 icons should go in is /system/app/
Lets say I want to change the Browser.apk icon. I would pull it, open it as a zip file, look for ic_laucher.png (or something of this sort) -- and replace this file with the newly created icon (has to be the SAME name as the original file), you'll copy this new "icon" into the original dir, overwriting the changes -- and that's it.

What files exactly are you saying I should edit? I'm up for any ideas -- I'm definitely going to get this to work, I want to contribute damn it!!
I just downloaded a ROM and took some apks that were on the "SAFE" list to remove from the link in the above post. Replaced some apk files with the 2.1 icons....using the same name as the ones I replaces (so I'm not 'adding' anything new)
Renaming my ROM and then zipping it up to flash. (doing it now, and if that works....then I will play with it a little more and see how far I can get until it does not boot)
HOPEFULLY this boot with what I've just done....lol. I should, I've done nothing really...

[MOD] Spinning-X Boot Animation UPDATED w/Shiny Version!!

Had a little bit of free time today, so I decided to see about making a nice professional-looking boot animation. What you'll find here is the result... This is my first attempt at making any sort of animation of any kind, so I'm quite open to comments/suggestions/feedback.
"So what happens in this animation?" you ask.
I'll tell you.
The quad-color X logo smoothly fades in on top of a black background, and it gradually falls backward to take its rightful position inside the phrase "nexus one" as the letters fade in one at a time. The colorful X then spins in place for the remainder of the loading process.
To install:
Code:
adb remount
adb push xspin_bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
or flash the xspin_bootanimation-update.zip from your favorite recovery - installs to /data/local/bootanimation.zip
Enjoy
edit: thanks to gIMpSTa for the update.zip to flash from recovery!
UPDATE: Added ShinyX, a shinier version of the spinning X (00167.png is a shot of this shiny mod). Install process is the same; the update-zip will stick it in /data/local.
does it work to flash via recovery?

Edit: oh yeah, this update.zip puts it in /data/local not /system/media so this will probably only work cyanogenmod based roms.

Hmm. I suppose I could... I was just pulling those letters from the logo at google.com/phone, though, and it was in lowercase there. I don't know what the font is so I'm not sure I could 100% reproduce the same letter shapes with capital letters. I'll see if I can pull that off tomorrow though.
Any chance of a gif or a youtube video? I don't have my phone at the mo (at HTC being repaired) but this sounds awesome

lol, sorry, not tonight. We'll see how much free time I have tomorrow.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get the update.zip I created to work... it works fine when I build it to install to /system/media/, but fails with a syntax error when I change the directory structure and update-script to point at /data/local/. :-/
Could actually use some help on this if anyone feels so inclined.
File structure:
Code:
-data
--local
---bootanimation.zip
-META-INF
--com
---google
----android
-----update-script
update-script contents:
Code:
show_progress 0.1 0
copy_dir PACKAGE:data DATA:
show_progress 0.1 10
I created the UNIX-format update-script file using Notepad++.
Doesn't seem to be much syntax to screw up there, but each time I try to flash the resulting zip (after signing and such) I get "E: Syntax error in update script".
This setup works fine if I change the directory structure for bootanimation.zip to "system/media", and change the copy_dir line to "copy_dir PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:".
I don't get it
edit: LOL, rebooted after pushing the update.zip to the sdcard and it worked fine. I dun get it still, but at least it works :-D
Wow.this is a very nice boot animation.. good work!

Easy way to change your bootscreen *Updated 4/11/11* Pushboot 3.0!!!

Well, people keep posting in this thread so I figured I would do a very very large update. I know its been 7 months, and for that I apologize, been very busy and this wasn't a priority.
Now, its one version of Pushboot for everyone. Load it up, follow the directions and you should be set.
Remember to start you need:
-HTC Drivers installed
-A working bootanimation.zip
-An mp3 file if you want boot sound
-Your phone plugged in to the usb port (lol)
-Only ONE .zip and/or .mp3 in the folder containing pushboot
Other than that, I included everything needed to make this work.
Any issues let me know and I can try to help you out!
And leave feedback and if you like this, press the thanks button on this post =D

Personally, I found the batch process that you created very useful. Thank you OP.
Note:
It's a moderator responsibility to exact organization, control & relocation. They are often very busy but fear not, they will manage the forum to better effective.
But for the sake of camaraderie among us phone-lovers, lets not self-deputize ourselves in a moderator capacity. Less than friendly "assistance" can and has deterred others from posting potentially very useful information. Growth excels when we help each other to become better...
Thanks OP. Helped me a lot.

Basically, upzip, put your zip file (and if you want an mp3 file) into the folder
plug in your phone
open pushboot.bat
follow the prompts
(make sure that when the phone goes into recovery that you wait till it connects to your pc before continuing)
and you should have a custom boot animation and boot sound!
Any problems, let me know
I also included the dancing android bootscreen and the nexus one bootscreen.

[Boot Animation] Metal Gear Solid

Ok, so I got bored one day and decided to make a boot animation of my namesake. Its really simple and looks kinda stupid now, but I'm still workin on it. I'm probably going to put Andy in there with a bandanna and fix the way the letters fly in, probably going to stagnate them.
http://www.droidbin.com/index.php/files/get/2BGoEHODHu/bootanimation.zip
Thats the link. Thanks to Stericson for droidbin.com
Let me know how you guys like it. I'll post screens in a bit. Listening to the AndroidGuys Thursday night podcast lol.
I'll post instructions on how to flash it later as well for those of you that don't know. (also you can just download it and look in the zip at the images)
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/
adb reboot

Thats the code for flashing it via adb. Using root explorer, you'd just drop it there.
If that doesn't work try placing it in /data/local/

[Req] Boot animation- PS 1 startup - Success! Request fulfilled

Edit 4-3-2011: Request has been fulfilled by kpkimmel. See this thread for his ps1 and Sega boot screens.
preview of ps1 boot screen below.
I saw someone made a boot animation with the PS3 startup screen and it made me really nostalgic for the playstation 1 startup (both bios and os screens). In my opinion, the PS1 startup was the best ever! Can anyone make the PS1 startup below into a boot animation? Preferably with sound? To me the sound is the best part!
Thanks in advance to anyone who would indulge a hopeless girl geek!
lmao OMG!!!! ... :,) that was a blast yea i'd love that
give this a try, push to your phone, should work, didnt' test it just kinda rushed it...so hopefully you enjoy. Thanks.
Also i uploaded two different ones, they are the same boot animation just tweaked a little bit because some evos boot slower or faster than others..so try one and if it works great, if not, try the other one.
Also included flashable.zip so you can flash from recovery.
gahhh this just reminded of FFVIII
Thanks KP! This is exactly what I was looking for! That was really fast and I really appreciate it. Enjoy that beer!

Thank you, your donation is much appreciated as i am attempting to start development for Sprint Android devices fulltime.
So im running CM7 #33 and just tried flashing the third down "PS1_flashable.zip" that didnt work. So I tried just using root explorer and moving the first lnk into the system->media and deleting my other boot animation and that didnt work either any body can point me in the right direction?
None of these attachments work.
Matt, what part failed? Did you get an error message while flashing? I think if you are doing this manually you have to move both the SPC_animation_final.mp3 sound file and the bootanimation.zip included in the ps1_bootanimation.zip file into /system/customize/resource/. That's where they are on my system and it works fine.

Odd. I tried both of the flashables and they both worked. AmonRa complained that the zip wasn't signed but I just turned the signature check off and it flashed without a problem.
Thanks for the files.... brings back the great games that came along with PS

I was always under the impression that the bootanimation.zip went in,\system\media
I hot it working now, just without sound.
the sound should work just fine, not sure if your putting in the /system/media part if the spc_animation_final.mp3 has a different name or not, i'll look it up and get back

Yea I tried flashing it first and it did give me a weird message appeared but it did say it installed fine. However that didn't work so I tried manually putting it in my System->Media section and that was no go.
I did unzip one of the files and put both the SPC.mp3 file and the boot animation.zip in my System-media and it worked this time only without the sound
^
But that could be because im running CM7 and I don't think it can play sounds while booting up, But I could be wrong?
Also it was pretty short loading up and was black screen for the better part of it rebooting any way to get it to repeat or load up slower so it stay's on the scrren longer.
Whew...I do love it though! So thanks
to slow the boot seq just go into the bootanimation.zip open the desc.txt and change the 60p to a lower number.
