VLC Player for HTC Touch 2 - Touch2 Themes and Apps

Hi all,
I got my new HTC touch 2. Its awsome and i like it a lot.
I copied a movie(700 MB)(.avi/.mp4) file and tried opening in WMedia Player. I was able to hear the sound but there was no picture display.
Do i need to convert the (.avi/mp4) files to HTC Touch 2 format.
Pls provide me some VLC Palyer which an run .avi and .mp4 files.
Thanks
Ganesh

You need something like core player 1.3.6
Version 0.72RC1 was last free but doesn´t work on mega.
You need something like PocketDivXEncoder_0.3.96.exe on your PC to convert the movie to PPC

I conver videos to avi/divx . Audio 128 kbps and video 360 kbps. I dont tried bigger quality. Tried someone bigger quality ?

What resolution?
Think that touch2 have 320x240pixel only

I've notice that 640x480 resolution is better

Please post it dude
Hope i can play big movie files(700MB)(AVI Format)

Thanks a lot dude

tcmpc doesn´t work in touch mega.
640x480 is better resolution but touch mega ONLY have 320x240.
Why you want more resolution if you cannot see better because the best resolution to mega is 320x240.
Movies in 320x240 are 200mb more or less

How you can see movies on HTC
Hy people,
I use Acala 3GP converter (acala-3gp-movies-free.en.softonic.com) to convert the movies in 3GP format, witch can be watched on HTC.
After you install the software on your PC, you can convert any movies from AVI/other format to 3GP.
Then you can simply copy these 3GP movies to your HTC and you can see it with DivX Player (labs.divx.com/Mobile).
For me it works fine!
Bye

Hi,
To convert movies and get a high end quality I use videora HTC converter for the conversion of the movies, and core player to see them in the htc. The result is perfect.

Super
Hi,
I agree with you kings1204. There are many way to convert videos and watch on HTC. Also you can use Core Player or Tcpmp for watch after conversion.
Like this one.

Movies
Hi All
The Mega actually has it's own built in video player but will only play MP4 or AVI files.
To get this to work just open up your video list from the SD card and tap on the movie and enjoy. Do not use the WMP. This may seem like sucking eggs but I have owned my Mega for three months and only just worked this out
TCPMP does work on the Mega but it can be a bit jerky and sometimes the movie can only be viewed in landscape making control a bit awkward, it will play in portrait but you may only have audio.
The DIVX player for windows mobile is absolute pants and should be avoided at all costs, unless you can lip read as the audio lags about 1 -2 seconds making viewing virtually impossible.
If you want a good convertor then go for DVD CATALYST FREE. This will convert to windows TCPMP, MP4 and many others. If you want your film to play perfectly on the Mega convert it using the (please forgive me for saying this) Ipod touch option and you should get an average size of 400Mb still big but a lot but better than 700Mb.

how to watch long movies on the vox

Maybe this is a really dumb question,
but i have this problem with longer movies, say 50 movies. If i watch them on my phone they hang and lag terribly! i dont know what the problem is... short movies arent the problem! plz help
which player do u use?
try tcpmp.
i watch much longer movies using that and no lag.
tried tmcp but same result! could it be that my memory card is too slow?

maybe the video you are watching is too big to handle for the vox's cpu ? if thats the case.. then use PocketDivXEncoder to scale down the file and qulity, which you can't see on the phone.. This allways works and you won't have any lag at all .. ! Try it, its free.. Not only that but your video files will get much smaller in size!
It usually is a memory problem. You should reencode them to lower bitrates and/or resolution and use a codec that doesn't need much processing power!
EDIT: Ups you were faster!

Hehe well then it just got confirmed..
But my suggestion would be that you use TCMP and then encode your videoes with PocketDivXEncoder.. It encodes the movies in divx format which TCPMP supports fully..
Good TIPS Friends... I convert all movies to MP4 format and plau using my default 710 (Windows Media Player). No issue for me. I will also have a try of TCPMP player and compare it Hope this will be much light for phone memory
Q: What format is best for pocket pc (MP4 or Divx converted by PocketDivXEncoder) ?

Video Recoding Tutorial - Video Settings
I worked on this pretty long and finally I do it this way:
Convert my videos with "Any Video Converter" (Freeware, google for it).
Use the following setting and the video will flow easily and the quality remains good:
Profile (defines the format): Mobile Phone MPEG-4 Movie
Codec: mpeg4
Size: 320x240 or 220x176, in this case size doesn´t really matter and does not effect the filesize that much.
Videobitrate: 96 kb/s is enough and gives u a good videoquality, the audioquality is more important, especially when u listen on the build in speakers.
video framerate: 15 fps (frames per second) are enough for fluid playback.
Audio Bitrate at least 128kbs, lower bitrate will sound like a tin.
Samplerate: 48000, sothat the audio is synch to the video.
So finally u will get a 90min. movie with about 130-150MB. That sounds little, but believe me, the quality is as good as a 300MB movie. If the quality is bad, the original movie itself has alot of pixelfractures in it.
U can watch the movie in win-mediaplayer without any codec-problems.
I got about 30 full length movies on my 4GB storagecard on VOX.
Here are my tips:
U can batch-encode them, just load the movies in the prog an check all boxes, do the settings once and let the prog recode all movies.
U can merge 2 files into 1. if u got the movie in 2 parts for example. just check the 2 files and rightclick merge down.
Check the aspectratio of your movies. in most cases it´s no problem with 320x240 size, but if u haven´t got a 16:9 movie, for example a 4:3 or widescreen without letterboxes, the movie will not be shown correctly, concerning the ratio. in this case set the size to "original", and probably change the settings in win mediaplayer not to fit the video automatically on screen.
What increases or decreases filesize the most are the video and audio bitrates.
Tried it a million times, the settings here are the best. otherwise u will get a huge filesize with almost no better video quality. But don´t get lower than the settings I mentioned above.
so thats my way, works best!!
PS: It´s actually not a matter of what player u use, it´s just that videoplayback in general uses the cpu heavily. But even if u got a better phone with better cpu u can use this settings, as I mentioned, u cannot see alot of diffrence to an 300MB movie, but u will be able to store the doubled amount of movies on your sd-card.

Lower the bitrate of movie when encoding, use a portable format like .mp4, lower the quality of audio.
You will find the settings that you can encode every video @ with trial and error.
"Please in future post in the correct sub forum as this is a question"
Also, some players play some formats faster than others
you can try the free TCPMP player (you can find it in the DEV&HACK section)

Core Player

On my HD I could play AVI files using Core Player, on the HD2 the same files play the audio but the viseo is:
1. In small screen very "liney" and doubled, 2 images side by side.
2. In full screen the screen is blank.
Any ideas?
maybe u have to set "directdraw" instead "qtv" in video settings
Actually, I do not understand why people want to keep on using Core Player.
The best movie player is already embedded in the HD2 itself in Photos/Videos album, because it has hardware acceleration.
CorePlayer is now a very old-fashioned software (2007) and the latest versions (1.35 and 1.36 are quite buggy).
Play your mp4 with the HTC video player and you will really see the difference.

While we're talking about CorePlayer, can it show subs? If so how?
Have searched through every settings now but i can't find any settings for subs.
If not, is there a player that plays DivX Xvid's with subs in srt or sub format?
CorePlayer plays almoast everything i can think of, and are working fine on HD2 here to.. Is CorePlayer dead now or what?
i don't think coreplayer can play subs , but tcpmp can...however i didn't try it on my hd2 and don't know if it works
tcpmp works fine set to either gdi or rawframebuffer
not tried subs but they should work too
biggest benefit of tcpmp over coreplayer is the price

Tcpmp works, you can use srt (and I think smi) subtitles. You have to use GDI as video driver to see them.
Colors
Do you like the colors of coreplayer (or tcpmp) out of the box?
I had to change them to custom, raise the contrast a bit and lower the brightness.
I find HTC album images a bit too dark instead (but I can't change)

For those who might be desirous to buy CorePlayer 1.36 I strongly recommand to be patient.
Indeed CorePlayer 1.36 is a dying software. CoreCodec is currently finalizing a version 2.0.
It would be useless to waste €30 on v1.36 now and probably have to pay later for v2.0.

+1 for coreplayer or TCPMP. Why take the time to convert videos when you can simply play them?
I bought coreplayer ... It's the one for me and a good prize too
Tried coreplayer and it's having problem in my unit, the video will be messed up and has to restart don't know why.
This video converter is very good, with the ability to re-sync audio (not that I have needed to yet). It was developed for the HD by an xda member. But yeah, TCPMP or Coreplayer will work if you don't want to convert it.
Thanks gotta give it another try.

Switch your video codec to DirectDraw then it will work like charm. Look for more tweaks in coreplayer forum.

Oh thanks but please let me know how to change video codec.
COREPLAYER: Menu > Tools > Settings > Select Page > Video > Video Output - change to DirectDraw
TCPMP: Options > Video > DirectDraw
In coreplayer, just make sure that a video is NOT playing when you do this....it tends to crash and forces you to do a soft reset (at least it does for me!)
I have no probs playing flv with coreplayer or TCPMP, I just prefer Coreplayer.
Thanks so much, actually GDI codec works for me but there's still very slight sync issue for some videos.
You may also want to try Chainfire's 3d drivers (if you haven't already)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663 (not the beta drivers - yet!)
Some people have said it improves DirectDraw performance in Coreplayer, but I never had any problems before, so I can't really say yes or no to that! The drivers do help with other apps too, so I would say they are worth installing anyway.
I think there is a known problem with the HD2 and video/audio sync, but again (lucky me), I've never noticed it.

With Rockplayer from the Android Market you woun't ever have to convert a video again. It plays all formats including mkv out of the box!
Sent from my X10i using Tapatalk
I use SUPER ©
Yes use Rockplayer
After second "Rockplayer" - it really does away with having to spend hours converting "most" movies
somebody really still converting?
Yes, I still do it, because movies take less space on my SD card once they are in MP4 (with the right format) instead of original format.
I cannot change movies every nigth, I have to store 6 or 7 for the week... (and music, and pictures, and...)
thank you
thank you guys
i will try it all..
and yaa instead of direct copy i prefer to convert it becoz it take less memory on my SD card thats why
but you can save much time with bigger sd-card an the rockplayer...

So which media player is good to play HD video in MP4 format? Rockplayer or Super?
Guys,
I have tried handbrake to encode and Rockplayer, realplayer beta to playback the below video clip :

With no success and the video become stuck when it reached : 2:44
Let me know if anyone can overcome this problem, thanks.

SUPER is NOT a media player, its a video converter to use in your PC.
on my X10i (unbranded) the SE Mediascape video player plays better than Rock player, the sound is in sync more than Rock player for example.
I have also used "IM TOO" but found it very slow. (1.5 hours to encode a 30 minute episode of Alan Partridge.
I now use WinX DVD Ripper winxdvd d0t c0m (no I dont work for them).
If this is spyware or whatever please let me know, but in encodes a DVD film in 45 mins (even a Disney one with all that special encoding)
My question is....
"what is the ultimate setting for encoding a DVD to MP4 for the X10i?
Please do not reply if you are just guessing, the X10i does not like frame rate 30 for example..
thanks
x2 on using Super as the video convertor. It's free and it offers more features than most other video convertors.
but with RockPlayer (and yxplayer for some files) I no longer need to convert. my 16gb only stores documents, some pictures, and videos but no mp3 since i'd rather listen to streaming internet radio than download mp3s.
the "best" video setting will depend on how you rate video quality. imo, for smoothness and when you are watching movies, i'd go with 23 fps or less, and have high bitrate but reduced resolution (above half the resolution of the lcd display).
video conversion speeds depends mainly on your video converting settings (format, bitrate, resolution, etc.) and your CPU power, not the software.. just fyi.
I am currently using xmedia recode.
I use the settings for the Motorola Milestone when converting, as for some reason the X10 settings mess the audio up.
Pretty quick, and audio/visual sync is spot on
It doesn't matter what to use.
for example, I convert films from my 720p/1080p hd collection, using parameters, such as 854x480 resolution, 160 kbit audio bitrate and 1000-1200 kbit video bitrate.
And it looks like I watch a real hd video! The picture is perfect! Enjoy
Oh, and I noticed, that it's better to use h264 codecs with *.mkv container than mpeg4 with .mp4 and .avi
RockPlayer is the best for my monster-like videos Avatar with 1200 video bitrate and near 2gb file size works without any lags. This is the power of nice program code (thx for RockPlayer devs) with the connection of Snapdragon processor
