Are there ways to enlarge the sms typing area?

I found the typing area (the space below the message body) becoming too small after exchanging a few messages. Wonder if there are ways to enlarge the typing space to allow seeing 3-4 lines (now I can only see 2 lines). Thanks.
This seems to be a problem only when using the threaded SMS feature. I you turn that off, you get the full screen. The other problem with the threaded SMS feature is that it take away the character count which also drives me a bit crazy. Anyone know how to fix either of these two issues while retaining the threading feature?

It doesn't take away character count. It's right there on the top bar, next to the start button...
Drop this in /windows and overwrite. Might need total commander. I cant find the post but basically you edit the thread_sms html file in windows, i have this one saved in both my wife and my phones pre-edited.
note: you need to have show hidden filed turned on to see it on your pc.
you can use the freeware "TOTAL COMMANDER" and edit the file thread_sms.html. You can do a search to easily find it...i think it's in the windows directory.
look for this part:
<inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBECT" width="98%" height=35 spell...
and play around with the number in height (in this case 35). I think I tried 70 and got 3 lines for my text replies. Just change the numbers and see what works for you.
*you need to soft reset after editing the file.
Thanks, venelar & koppee1 for your help! It works.

Hey thanks a lot. I had been looking for it at the bottom of the screen where it appears when a new message is created. You have solved a big issue for me! I can kind of live with the small typing area but the word count thing drove me crazy -- I am a wordy guy.
i have installed wisbar advanced with the original theme. After that i havent the character count which has been in top. Is there any way how to get the character count back in threaded sms, or how to get it to the postion where is in the normal SMS sending... anyone hlep?
Hi, I installed the above thread_sms.html file from venelar (copied using resco explorer and soft reset) but now my threaded sms is broken, if I select a thread and click reply then nothing happens other than a slight screen 'flash'! Have disabled threaded sms in advance config and ordinary messaging is fine. Would like to get threaded back but like an idiot did not make a copy of the original file. Don't really want to hard reset and start all my settings again. Can anybody upload an original touch pro thread_sms.html file to help me out or suggest what I have done wrong?

it worked 4 me without the soft reset!
THNX much better now! now I can actually see what I typed...
After some experimentation:
Height of 35 = One-line SMS typing area
Height of 45 = Two-line SMS typing area
Height of 70 = Three-line SMS typing area
P.S. As per Pensador, a soft-reset was not required.
Doesn't work in Landscape SMS Mode

Changing this seems to only increase the SMS text area for the screen in Portrait. When I use the keyboard (i.e. screen in Landscape). Anyone know how to increase the SMS texting area for both orientations?

This is an awesome fix. This should be placed in the wiki.
Also, you don't need a soft reset and it works for both portrait and landscape.

changing fonts wm6

i have a touch and have changed most of my fonts how do i change soft key fonts, title bar font, sms inbox font and outgoing sms font i have tried tips from all over the forums and nothing is working
Check Settings+ RC_Mod, Font Changer 1.2.. and conduct a search in the forum, you will find MANY MANY programs for this.
yea, ive checked all of those out, i have wm6 and those still dont help. i dont want to change color or nething, just font. there has to be something in the registry somewhere... adding values or something to change sms compose and incoming font and soft key font. ive already done system font, bar font, pop font, oom font. the system has to get instructions somewhere as to what font to use
sms font can be changed in Settings+ and it is included in another option.
settings+ can change everything... at least on my device.
it seems like settings+ is for wm6.1 . i have a regular sprint touch running wm6. thank you for any help
hrm.
ok.. try these.. i managed them a while ago and wrote a readme file..
hope it helps
ok im getting frustrated, i just cant seem to be able to change the sms compose or inbox font or soft key. none of these programs wrk or have what i need and all forums point to the reg keys ive already changed lol it still seems to me that the program gets its instructions from somewhere and that that can be changed. ive pretty much given up on an outside program to change them...please help, im about to give up
its cool, i downloaded a new font, went back through an re-did my key entries and it seems to be fine i know the sms problem was solved and pretty sure the soft key changed...but ive been looking at this thing for so long its all starting to look the same anyway, thanks for the help, i appreciate it
lol. i forgot to attach the registry files to the previous post.. i wanted to help.
now, you might have already changed these.. but since one of them changed the sms font on my phone, i see no reason why it shouldn't do the same on yours.

Changing the font color in pocket outlook

I like using black for my window background, but as a result I can't view text in inbox messages since outlook defaults to a black font.
Is there any way to change the font color of received messages? Thanks
you can use SmilySMS.. it would box your sms and you would be able to read it.
you can also change font colors using RC_Mod

Thanks a lot for those suggestions! Just searching for those apps brings up some interesting Outlook plugins. I'll give them a shot now.
I found out how, in my version the default mail font settings were coming from windows/iframe_style.css (and not the ReadBody entry from read_style.css, which works for sms)
Under "Body {...", adding the line "color: XXX" fixed it
Thanks all

This does work for received emails, but does anyone know how to change for SENT emails as well?
Unable to change pocket outlook inbox font
I am running Win Mobile 6.5 and for the life of me I have been unable to locate the keys in the registry allowing me to change the large font that is so annoying when looking at the list of new emails that arrived. All registry suggestions I found seem not to apply to 6.5. Any help is very much appreciated! TIA

Changing default SMS/MMS program

Ok, I have a T*Mobile HTC Touch Pro2. From the home screen you see a slider bar at the bottom. One of the tabs available is for the SMS/MMS program which if I understand correctly is Manilla. This program is nice but I'm very annoyed that I have to input ONE CONTACT AT A TIME when I send a mass message...which I do very often. So here is what I wanna do...
I want to change the tab so that it pulls up a new SMS/MMS program instead of manilla. Let's call it EXAMPLE_PROG as the app I just installed SMS-CHAT doesn't do MMS as well, so I need to find a different app that includes both AND lets me do some sort of checklist to add multiple contacts at once. If you know of one, lemmie know.
Anywho, I have a registry editor and I have edited my laptop registry before so I know a little of what I am doing and I know that changing things I shouldn't COULD brick my phone. Therefore, I'm asking for help. What do I change so that choosing the MESSAGES tab brings up EXAMPLE_PROG instead?
Thanks in advance for your help.

please I need too a solution for these

[Q] changing default call icon/g3 specific

Hello,
I ve been trying to change my default call icon (for unknown contacts) when receiving a call with ninjamorph... I opened phone.apk and found icon, changed it and nothing happens... It does change when I open preview in Ninjamorph... I think I probably changed the wrong icon because there are hundreds of them, most of them I never saw on my phone...
Can somebody tell me which one to change? There are some general tutorials but I cant find the directories and filenames they are refering to...
Of course, phone is rooted, running Destiny 2.1 ROM...
I would also like to change that awful phone animation when making a call if possible...
Thank you very much
change the icons in
DialerTabActivity.apk
I tried, changed some icons in drawable-Ldpi in dialertabActivity.apk but still nothing happens, not even in dialer screen
I applied and finished Ninjamorph project, and when it is done I can see by starting the project again that icons are changed indeed but still nothing changes...
Could you please be more specific about what icons to change?
well...
to be on safe side. check all *contact*.png pictures
the icon you search may have the naming like
default_icon...
unknown_contact_icon...
or something like that
the G3 is ldpi but sometimes (dont know when or why) the icons from mdpi folders are taken
therfore to be on safe side, just exchange all pngs which may sound like that
in framework-res.apk there are also some default icons...
maybe one of them is taken? Dont know.
