HELP Needed - Wifi don't work on Magic 32A - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hello,
few days ago i got Magic with stock 1.5 firmware. The unit was performing flawlessly with Wifi and everything was perfect but one big thing missing in Cupcake was PPTP VPN support - I require this to be able to grab my corporate Exchange emails, synchronise calendar and contacts etc.
So i started looking around for some ROMS that are Donut based (or even higher) since they have proper VPN support.
I searched through the XDA developers forums, learned a lot about ROMs, Radios, SPLs, Recoveries etc, but in the process of learning I also did few mistakes (putting 32B ROM on my 32A Magic, have corrupted Radio (during Radio downgrade screen would simply get some dark blue color and freeze indefinitely etc.)), on of them led to the point in which I had to create Gold Card in order to revive the unit.
Anyhow, during all these trials and errors I somehow managed to return to working 1.5 (Cupcake) firmware that has fully functional WiFi.
However, after one ROM install (My guess is that it happened after MarsDroid SPL7 1.8 D (and erasing Ad Hoc from wireless settings) I seem to have lost proper WiFi functionality, my home WLAN (SSID broadcast disabled, no other protection) would be visible (after I manually entered SSID) but it would either have "remembered, open network" status or "Out of range, remembered" (even though I was just few feet away from it). When it is on "remembered, open network" I can select it, it says Signal strength: Excellent, and Security: Open, but pressing Connect just doesn't do anything ?!?!?
On the other side my mobile broadband connection is working OK (but who wants to use expensive mobile broadband if You have free WiFi access ??).
WLAN scanning works flawlessly (WiFi scanning shows surrounding Access Points) but it simply will not connect. I even tried making my SSID visible and putting some WPA/WPA2 encryption but again the same result (remembered, wpa2 protected network).
What is wrong with my HTC Magic? It behaves same way regardless what ROM i put onto it?
My flashing procedure allways was:
- check in fastboot if radio and SPL and correct for rom
- check if I have adequate recovery
- go into recovery
- make wipe data/factory, Dalvik cache, sometimes even SD: ext
- enable USB MS
- transfer zip files to SD card
- flash zipfile(s)
- reboot
Currently I have firmware version 1.5 with:
CursorSense32A-1.2.6
Kernel version: 2.6.27-CCR32A-0.6a
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06KU_6.35.10.18
My fastboot:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.10.18
Recovery is RA-hero-v1.5.3.1
Furthermore, once this is solved (and I know for sure that someone on this forum will be able to help me I would like to know if it is possible on Android to install MS Exchange certificates (ISA and SBS certificates (*.cer)) and how?
Many thanks in advance for help, i really appreciate it )

Anyone got a clue? :-(

Wipe system
Reflash with Defanged base
Reflash Cursor sense

Thanks for the hint. OK, this is what I did:
- reboot to recovery
- wipe data /factory reset
- install DRC83_base_defanged.zip
- install CursorSense32A-1.2.4-signed.zip
- install CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1-signed.zip
- reboot from recovery
And... again the same, Magic sees my Access Point with visible SSID (completelly open) saying "open network", i select it, press connect, Magic is trying to connect but after 15 seconds nothing is connected...
My guess is that i am missing some wifi process ? Any other idea? :-(

Anyone knows what might be causing it and how to solve it???

can u revert back to old radio 3.something
and try pay's rom
bcoz while flashing radio it might hav caused problem

Of course I could, would you just please be so kind and specify exactly which radio, spl, recovery and rom?
I could downgrade to following via fastboot:
fastboot flash radio Radio_HTC_PVT_32A_3.22.20.17.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.2010.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot reboot-bootloader
but which rom afetrwards? This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=629905 but this is 32B as far as I see (i have 32A) :-(

You can install the EBI1/32A port by bcrook for CM if you are on a 3 series radio.
Find a rom that says EBI1 if you are on the 3 series radio

OK, You mean file "bc-4.2.14.1-ebi1-signed.zip"?
OK, I should first do a wipe in recovery, then istall rom from zip, and immediatelly after rom istall this "bc-4.2.14.1-ebi1-signed.zip" file?
result: not booting, stuck at HTC Magic wallpaper :-((

flash older recovery now

OK, I installed Cyanogen's ROM (http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream/Magic32A_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod) step by step following procedure under "Full Install from custom recovery (from other ROM or older CM versions)" and after inserting PIN i get message:
"Sorry! The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
So, quick Google says that this is due to inapropriate ROM and that I should go with "defanged" one, so i wiped again everything and start with procedure for "Rooting 32A".
End result, again no WLAN connection, I am attaching complete ADB logcat if someone could take a look at it and point me in the right direction I would be gratefull... ))))))

My 32A developed the same wifi problem ("remembered, open network" status or "Out of range, remembered") when I was using the Cursorsense ROM. I suspect it was a problem with the "new" 6.35 radio code. A few hours ago, I reverted to the "old" 3.22 radio code and a ROM that works with it. So far, wifi connects quickly every time.
Here are some instructions for reverting to the old radio, etc:
Look in the first post for the section titled "Downgrade (Revert back to) 32A 3.22 Radio and SPL".
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
Once that is done, install a ROM that doesn't require the 6.35 radio code. I've had good luck with the DRC83_base_defanged ROM and Cyanogen mod (with a 32A kernel). Don't forget to do a full wipe in recovery mode before installing a new ROM.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592377

Hi foresto,
I did this (reverting to lower radio and SPL and then different ROM) and back few times, but every time result is the same, i presume that one of the radio upgrades/downgrades did some permanent damage and afterwards it all went into fritz :-( no wlan connectivity :-(
I was constantly switching between radios 6.35.10.18 and 3.22.20.17 and this didn't provide any results, so i acquired radio 6.35.08.29 as a zip and tried to install it via SD card, first time it went well, for some reason i had to redo the installation and after that my phone was completely bricked (upon booting 5-10 seconds shown image of phone in front of the box, and after it the screen would either go black or into some strange color). :-(((

flash original sappimg.zip if that dont work you have a faulty wifi module ... or have somehow deleted some MISC files donno how
Adhoc :you simply have to setup your ip on android when connecting to a private local network that is not shared "internet connection shared" or configurated to provide the client "android" a ip with dhcp ! OR the other way setup your pc manually with a good ip ... im guessing your running win7 that lags prober ip sharing configurating or i just HATE the permissions on that sys... i cannot help you more !

But no scan results. I tried it with 3 different routers.
It was working a week ago, but suddenly stopped. I did reflash to RC29, then RC30. I am with ADP1 now.
Can I do something to get it working? Is it a hardware problem?
Thanks a lot!

So you're running the straight ADP build from HTC's website?
Oh nevermind, I see the original post was back whiles ago.
The only time I've seen this occur is when some things get messed up on the build.prop. Specifically these (2) settings ...
wifi.interface=tiwlan0
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval=45
If the symptoms are the same under different builds, it def sounds like a hardware problem to me (if you wiped that is, which it sounds like you did since you said you flashed RC29).
I assume you've tried different environments w/ different AP's etc...right?

[Q] So what's keeping my EeePad awake???

I can't figure out what the heck is keeping my device from going into deep sleep mode. Not sure if it was because I installed Clemsyn's kernel v16 or an app that wont allow it to sleep. I've been checking CpuSpy every morning to find the culprit. Even in airplane mode it still stays "awake" according to the battery usage thingy on settings.
Running Prime 1.4.
Can anyone else replicate this?? Any suggestions?

Same issue here using stock 3.1 - not as bad as on the Xoom but can't figure out what's keeping my transformer awake. Any idea how to find the culprit? I wouldn't be surprised if the Map app was one, as its always used more battery than it should on various devices, from froyo to HC. Even forcing Map to stop doesn't solve the problem - a few mins later Map is back running in the background.
with or without dock?
With the dock the pad acts as if it's in the charger, atleast according to other posts i have read.
Do you have any widgets? I have Prime and the same kernel but my transformer is going to deep sleep.

this is without the dock
It might be the springpad widget I just installed...
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I was just installing an update to TapaTalk and noticed it wanted permission to prevent the system from going to sleep.
I had the same problem with the transformer staying awake even with the dock closed. After a lot of trial and error I narrowed it down to the Gallery app using a service constantly. Killing the gallery app temporarily fixed it but a couple of hours later the same service was running again.
Further investigation showed it to be a problem with the picasa web sync constantly running. You can turn the sync off without having to resort to any drastic measures, go to Settings > Accounts & Sync, go into your google profile there and de-select Sync Picasa Web Albums, that fixed it for me and my idle battery life has doubled!

It is... when you don't use Picasa and leave Picasa sync on.
Like really, which would you prefer? Having your battery being drained... or disabling syncing for Picasa? Remember.. this syncing is ONLY for Picasa (Gallery). It doesn't disable syncing for Gmail, Books, Music, etc. ONLY Picasa (Gallery)
I had an issue with this - it seemed to resolve itself when I turned off the location options....I don't have my TF with me and I can't remember what it's called - something like "allow google to determine my location" or suchlike! It's now sleeping like a baby! Overnight battery drop went from >40% to around 5%!
And here's a screen shot of my battery performance - you can see where I turned the "Use location for Google Search" option off....

I have been having the same problems as above.
I grabbed a logcat during its awake-but-not-on time. It just loops on and on about wifi and somthing about ioctl siocgifflags. Hopefully the below can help.

Tehehe I think it was specific to PRIME. My Transformer tends to like it a lot more.
http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p163/gbd270/P20110720102955.png is a screenshot of me using Revolver and ugh. it was a disaster for me in terms of battery life. It was because for some reason the tablet was trying to interact with 3G data or something? I was pretty upset about that coming from PRIME 1.5 but all is good now
Actually.....my battery performance is now very similar to the Prime graph.....I'll post a pic soon....can't seem to upload images from my TF.....have to do it from my PC.....

True, but the device still seems to be awake when it shouldn't, according to your pic... so whats keeping it awake?

Froyo O3D suddenly won't connect to wifi modem

Last night my Froyo O3D (waiting for gb update) disconnected from my wireless router and every time I click the wifi tab to connect it connects then says authentication error (sometimes says nothing) then disconnects despite not having installed any new apps recently.

[Q] Wireless-N not work

Have faced a problem that my HTC One S don't connect to wi-fi N access point. It stucks at authentication. If I disable N-mode at AP - the phone connects normally. Does anybody have such problem? In both cases WPA2 is used.
bump.... so no one have such problems? or no one is using wifi-n?
have you try the advanced option of wi-fi?
option ---> wi-fi ----> advanced ----> better wi-fi performance?

Does your router have the option for WPA+WPA2 not just one or the other? If so try enabling the setting to use both.

Currently I configure it to use only WPA2 (CCMP/AES cipher) but also tryed with WPA (TKIP cipher) and already tryed to use both WPA+WPA2 - no luck.
P.S.
I'm also have HTC Incredible S and it connects to AP normally in all possible modes while One S won't.

Have checked with 3 different roms including official. What AP do you have and which speed it suppors (150/300mbps)?
i had a similar issue but my phone would reboot after failed attempts to connect.
what is your baseband? i was on 0.15 and the phone finally connected when i used the TMOUS RUU to update to 0.16.

radio is 0.16.31501S.17_2_10.23.31501S.10L and the rom is 1.78.401.2, previously was on official T-Mobile DE rom, but currently on LeeDroid. With both roms wifi won't auth with AP in N-mode
Solved by compiling latest compat-wireless for AP.
