I would like to upgrade my 32A sense UI'ed Magic.. But I'm lost. - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Ok last summer, I bought a Magic and have it upgraded to HTC sense interface.
I forgot how I did that and what I should do next.
In fastboot, what I see is:
--------------------------------------------------------
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.76.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.07.29
And Clear data, Yes/No option. That's ALL about the fastboot.
--------------------------------------------------------
In Settings, it shows:
--------------------------------------------------------
* Firmware version: 1.5
* Baseband version: 63.18.55.06HU_6.35.07.29
* Kernel version: 2.6.27-5469d459 [email protected] #901
* Build number: 3.03.707.5 CL#75968 release-keys
--------------------------------------------------------
What I know:
* The Magic was upgraded by myself more than half a year ago, I forgot how I did that already
* Recently I have a new Nexus One and had it unlocked, rooted, RA-nexus-v1.5.3, and upgraded it with CyanMOD 5.0 Beta 5 (newest)
--------------------------------------------------------
Now what I want is:
* Android 1.6 or higher (2.0 or even 2.1 is preferred)
* to get it even faster
* HTC sense UI is preferred (esp its smart dialer)
* the system has to be very stable
* more ROM/RAM can be used, if possible
---------------------------------------------------------
Can anyone please tell me what I should do now?
Thank you very much for your help...!

Looks like you updated using the official update utility. If so, you are stuck for now.
edit - But you say you did it more than half a year ago? The official update only came out in the last few weeks...

The Hong Kong Sense UI update many people used was released mid-November. Not half a year ago, yes, but still.

1.76.0007 is a perfected spl but you can get rid of it. Where is your phone from? If it's from Europe then run this RUU http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625108, it contains a modified SU binary that can let you flash a new recovery and engineering spl found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239. Follow the instructions posted by this member, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239, and then follow the take me back steps in cursordroid's thread because most Eclair ROMs use the old radio and spl ,but there is one or two that work with new radio. If you're phone isn't from Europe, run the RUU find the rom.zip temporary folder (search the forums), flash it with a goldcard (again search the forums) and follow all the instructions after flashing the ROM. Good luck.

Thanks guys. Yes I'm in Hong Kong. I'm not sure whether the phone is from Singapore or Europe. I'll need to check it out with the method mentioned in the reply above.
Just a quick question, would it make a huge improvement in speed after I got the phone further upgraded? If not, maybe i'd just keep it as it is now...
Thanks again.

Well, the stock Sense UI rom is slower than Cursorsense (modded Sense ROM), but I don't know how much faster the android 1.6,2.01,2.1 ROMs are, but most likely all of them are faster.

Newst Android Version for the ChaCha?

Hi Guys,
as you see in the topic, i want to know which is the newest Version of Android for the HTC ChaCha.
I bought it from o2 Germany and i will get it in some days.
Is there any further Update like Android 3.x or 4.x?
Thanks
Greetz
Seb.
just 2.x.x. please change your title as a question, which just misleads us
Sent from my HTC A810e

the newest one is 2.3.7 from cm7 for chacha
Sense??
Hey, guys
has anyone come across a sense rom for the Chacha which has at least Android 2.3.4?
My brother is unsatisfied with his phone but does not what to miss the sense features.
thanks for any hint
Newst Android Version for the ChaCha is 2.3.5 (stock rom EU). build 1.52
Hi,
got my ChaCha yesterday and i checked all the important things out...
so here are my infos:
S-On
Android 2.3.3
HTC Sense 2.1
Software 1.19.206.1
HBOOT 1.04.000
MICROP-0557
RADIO-7.47.35.17
Brand: o2_uk (important?)
OTA Update sais, there is nothing new ...
i'm not sure, if this is the latest Stock-ROM ... i don't think so ... is there any possibility to update to a newer *stock* rom?
# edit #
now i downloaded the updates from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255107
Stock ROMs 1.18 Europe and 1.33 Europe: http://www.swtesting.ro/alex/downloads/
The new OTA update 1.33 to 1.52 is also there.
but i'm not quite sure what to do ... (my first android phone!)
# edit 2 #
not i tries the RUU Updater "RUU_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.33.401.1_Radio_47.17.35.3033H_7.48.35.14_2_release_204385_signed.exe" but it didn't work ... got an Error Code 131 i think .... something didn't match ... "wrong ruu updater" or something ... don't know what to do, to get a newer Firmware now?!
With s-on all you can do is to update your rom to 1.33
If you are windows user - it's quiet easy. You have to prepare gold card. You'll find info on xda and google how to do that. Than just run RUU, and software should be updated in a while. Then you can get TempRoot. What it does and more importantly what it does NOT is all written in TempRoot topic.
If you want to install higher updates/custom roms and use Apps2SD (I'm sure you would like to do that, as after some days of using stock chacha you'll run out of mem), you will have to get s-off.
By now the only possibility is to use XTC-clip. You can either buy one or find phone service that has it and will do it for you for some small charge. Here in Poland it was 10E for me. When you get s-off you can install CWM recovery, and then do anything you like. You can install CM7, other roms, gain permroot etc etc
Hope I helped
Thank you.
i used "GoldCard Tool 0.0.5" and i think it will work now ... it's updating at the moment ...
but how can i install the OTA Air Update from 1.33 to 1.52?
i downloaded the zip file from the "everything for chacha thread", renamed it to PH06IMG.zip and put it in the root-folder and launched the bootloader but nothing happend ...?!
#edit 2#
i tried to rename it to update.zip and use the "recovery" tool and press vol-up and home at the screen with the red "!"
i get to a blue screen with yellow text and i choose "apply update from sd.card" but then i get "invalid operation" and the phone reboots ...
and i get the message: E: can't open /cache/recovery/command ??
i tried all options in the recovery-menu and i don't know how to go on?!
# edit 3#
well i think i understood ... i have to get s-off to continue to 1.52 right?
In German, how much to S-Off chacha?
We have a german Android-Discussion Board where peoeple offer it for free or up to about 10 EUR (about 14-15 USD) but there are no xtc clip owners in my area so i have to send it via mail to the xtc owner and let them do the work and they send it back to me

[Q] HTC Desire S OTA Update

I have a HTC Desire S (branded by Virgin Mobile) and I like to play with (break) the software so I can debrand and run custom ROM's. The only reason I do this is that I hate waiting on the mobile networks to test new builds with all their bloatware before rolling them out to us lowly customers. Next time I'm only buying an unbranded device!!!
I did this successfully with my old HTC Desire which my wife now uses. So bare with me and I'll give you the background to my HTC Desire S woes.
I used the Revolutionary hack to replace the HBOOT (6.98.1002) and make the phone S-OFF. I also replaced the recovery partition with Clockworkmod recovery. So all was good. However, I did this in 2 stages, I replaced the HBOOT a few months back and only got round to finishing by replacing the recovery partition this week.
My next step was to start thinking about flashing some ROM's. Okay so the very day (10 Jan 2012) I finally replaced the recovery partition with Clockworkmod I received an OTA Update. Brilliant I thought, that'll save me installing a custom ROM! So I tried to install the OTA Update, fail!
My first thought was, now that Virgin have released Android 2.3 and Sense 3.0 for the HTC Desire S. I'll just put my phone back to how it was and run the update. My contract is up soon and I'll be getting a new phone so I'll make this as standard as possible before handing it down to my wife.
Great, so I replaced the HBOOT back to a stock image (0.98.0000) and ran the RUU for the branded Virgin Mobile (RUU_Saga_Virgin_Mobile_1.31.351.1_Radio_20.28b.30 .0805U_38.03.02.15_M_release_178933_signed.exe). That replaced the Clockworkmod recovery partition with the stock recovery and reset my phone back to how it was.
I now have my phone back to what it was when I bought it (roughly as I think it was 1.47 before I flashed the branded ROM again). The only problem now is that I am no longer being offered the OTA Update (I've tried Settings > About Phone > Software Updates > Check Now).
I did save the OTA update file (OTA_Saga_S_Virgin_Mobile_2.13.351.6-1.47.351.2_release_231143vunyigsoxclccanj.zip) before I wiped my phone again. Can I/Should I run it manually?
Is anyone else running build 1.31 on a HTC Desire S? If not what version are you running? I'm wondering if by flashing the 1.31 version (as it was the only one I could find) I'll no longer get the 2.13 OTA Update.
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Baseband Version: 20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.15_M

Upgrade stock Desire S to FOTA update

I have a HTC Desire S I bought via grey import into Australia. It's still running Android 2.3.3 and has never received a FOTA update.
Should have it received one? Is there any other way of getting an update? I'd like to avoid rooting it, I'd just like to install a signed update with the least hassle.
The details of the phone are:
CID: HTC__001
ro.carrier: HTC-WWE
ro.product.version: 1.31.950.2
ro.build.version.incremental: 27073
ro.product.brand: fet_tw
ro.htc.checkin.url: http://andchin.htc.com/android/checkin
ro.htc.checkin.url_CN: http://andchin.htccomm.com.cn/android/checkin
Are any other details needed? I guess it appears to be a China/Taiwan rom.
Why would you stay to a stock rom ?
You've probably got a phone with hboot 0.98.0000 or 0.98.0002, it would be easy to s-off & root it and there are plenty of good roms in the development sub-forum, better than stock.
If you really want to stay on an official release, create a goldcard and flash the latest RUU. Here's the RUU collection: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
Absolutely Agree to the above.
No issues Rooting & S-OFF using Revolutionary.
Also, some good stable custom ROMs available e.g.: Endymion, Reaper , CM7 to name a few.
Plus, with the Kernel Source for One V available, we will probably see some stable and Mostly functional ICS builds as well...
If it were my own phone I'd install custom ROMs, I have already on my HTC Desire.
However this phone is for someone else and I'd like to upgrade it "officially" with the proper upgrade. HTC themselves have/will released a gingerbread/ICS(?) upgrade for this phone, but it is up to the carrier to upgrade and deploy it I guess?
I'm just not sure why it hasn't received an upgrade, or whether it ever will. Or if there is some way of performing it manually.
Is a gold-card really necessary? If HTC has released official upgrades, and this is an unlocked phone, can't I just install the provided upgrade some how?
To receive the OTA update , u need to be on the Stock ROM , Unrooted & S-ON.
> To receive the OTA update , u need to be on the Stock ROM , Unrooted & S-ON.
This phone has all that. It is in the original condition that it was bought. But for some reason can't receive the update.

[Q] Wifi and Bluetooth and battery problem

Hi there,
I have a couple of problems with my htc desire S:
1. The wifi won't work -> I get a message: "unable to scan for wifi networks
Ï did many factory resets, one time it did work, until i walked out of reach, the phone crashed
2. The bluetooth wont work
My old nokia can find it when i turned bluetooth on, but it can't connect
when im looking in "hardware information" it tells me for wifi and bluetooth adress: unavailible
3. The desire S turns off when i leave it with a full battery after a few hours.
to start it up again I need to plug it in the charger and charge it for one minute (after 5 minutes, its full again)
First, I updated the htc, but the problems where still there...
after that I tried the following things:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525100
that worked, I used flashed this rom couple of times:
Nik_Project_X_v4.1_By_Nikhil007_DesireS -> won't change anything about the problems
I currently use this rom: HTC_EUROPE_2.10.401.9_DEODEXED_PREROOTED -> won't change anything about the problems
So I thougt, maybe it's the radio... In the boot menu it says: "S-ON" and Hboot2.00.002 so i tried to downgrade it, to unlock the NAND via:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399331
but I keep getting the message from the RUU
"image fail [155]"
try the right RUU version... I tried this versions:
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed

I'm stuck here...
Boot menu info:

Android version
2.3.5
HTC sense version
3.0
Software number
2.10.401.9
As far as i know it's not branded... I can use any simcard
I want to make it 100% stock again before I moddify something again, I hope to solve the error's that way.
Am I doing this in the right order, or do I need to do something else?
thanks in advance!
3 options:
1. Follow the downgrade guide by making the phone "think" that your software version is lower than the actual one (can be done through ADB utility and the "misc_version" command in the console (if you are on Windows) or through Termina (if you are on Linux or MacOS), which will allow you to downgrade through the RUU file, and then upgrade to latest version by using OTA updates
2. Gain S-OFF on the current software, and then try to flash newer and newer radios one at a time, until the problem is resolved
3. Something inside the phone itself broke/fried, and you can only hope that service center will help you with repairing your DS
Well, I was able to "downgrade" to:
RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed
but I still got HBoot-2.00.0002, so I can't gain S-off.
so I tried:
RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed
what resulted in the same result.
Are there somt thing's I forget?
(Radio is also still the same version...)
I've update'd the htc to ics with the ruu
I got a WIFI MAC adress now, it found my network once, but after it did it once, it still does not work, same for the BT..
so it does work but it also does not...

[Q] OTA update flashing

Hi,
I am a brand new member and have come in search of some help here.
I recently purchased HTC One XL from ebay and this was from a Hong Kong seller. I was very happy receive this phone and started to play around with the device. This device is 2 weeks old now.
When I checked the software version details on this phone, I found that it is the old firmware on the device and I encountered 2 problems already:
1. Sound is very feable even if I put the volume to its maximum level. It feels as a distant sound in a quiet room.
2. Whenever I use any app and come out of it, the home screen takes a long time to load (5-7 seconds! That feels eternity!!)
Now I tried contacting the HTC Folks over in Australia as well as in Hong Kong and they asked me to Hard Reset the phone. This resolved one of the issue of the home screen taking a long to load. But the sound issue still persists.
The fella from Hong Kong then told me to check the software version on the phone, and when I checked, he/she said that I am running on a old version of the software. And I cannot update the phone.
Can anyone please help me with this?
The details about my phone software:
1.77.708.2

adsp: 25.1.0.32.0405
This matches exactly in the description in the thread here in XDA-Developers forum here
I also see that the latest version listed here matches with what the HTC Hong Kong person told me:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10:26:04 [Yan Chung] :
I see. But the offical version should be Android™4.1 with HTC Sense 4+, software version:3.17.708.5. So you phone is not an offical version.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I tried to go to the recovery screen by pressing the Volume Down key and the Power key and here is what I see:

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, You can install a RUU.
Noteworthy you are supetcid with soff. As already said flash a ruu.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
Note, if you have a custom recovery installed, OTA will fail.
If the phone is rooted and S-off, why install OTA at all? There are newer and better stock-ish ROMs that you can just flash from custom recovery.
In any case, I don't think firmware will fix your sound issue. Its worth a try to install a different ROM. But it may also be a hardware problem.
Hi,
Wow what a wonderful place. Thank you all, you wonderful people out here.
@redpoint73- can you please help me with the link of where to get better ROM for my device? And the procedure to install.
PS: I have a prior experience of flashing a custom ROM from Cyanogenmod for my Motorola Cliq XT. So that should essentially be same.
Also, to mention here, when I reboot to recovery mode, I could see Clockwork Mod Recovery already present. And using the Backup option of the recovery, I have already taken a full backup of the device, just in case..
I am looking forward to a better ROM for this device. Hope someone helps with some options.
Also, there were some few terms those are new to me like S-Off, SuperCID, don't bother to explain but one help- Is my phone ready to be flashed with a custom ROM or RUU ?
Do let me know?
To all wonderful people out here.
Best Regards,
Saabir

I sure can: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
If you used Clockworkmod on your previous phone, its no different on the One XL. Just download the ROM either direct to the phone, or transfer from your PC to the phone. Then boot into recovery. Factory reset (in recovery only, not in bootloader) wipe cache, wipe Dalvik, select the ROM, and flash it. Reboot and enjoy.
But I would also look at the CWM version, and post it here. There was an older, unofficial port that caused some serious issues for some folks. But the "official" supported version is just great.
