Who's us? Are you from Opera? Ok, here is a thought: what about pinch-to-zoom support
Still no pinch-to-zoom in this release?
What would be the point of pinch-to-zoom support? Opera 10 only supports two levels of zoom - zoomed in and zoomed out. Why would switching between them using a pinch instead of a tap be in any way preferable? Possibly what people actually want is not just to have two levels of zoom, but to have smooth zooming as in 9.7 - but that's a far bigger change than simply detecting a pinch gesture, what with deciding how to handle text-reflow, etc.
OK, but it does support plugins like flash, wmplayer. Well done Opera!!
(activate it via settings/advanced/plug-in)
For dutch users: head over to uitzendinggemist.nl
Multiple levels of zoom can be really handy with a huge WVGA display.
When I talk about pinch-to-zoom support I exactly mean what you said: being able to choose between different levels of zoom and use multi touch gestures to easily switch between them.
The point is that I'm kinda surprised that O10b doesn't have this feature enabled since in the previous one (9.7) it's already built-in
P.S. Thanks for the heads up xenept
nice... though it didn't inherit existing bookmarks?

I totally agree. But I think that the market for a general release is just to early. I suppose we have to wait a bit longer (till WM 7?).
BTW I don't like opera 10 on the hd2. The screen is much to sensitive for it. Reading a column is very difficult. The page constantly moves to the right or to the left when you're scrolling donw.
I do like the new plug-in support though!

dont know what you guys are seeing but even enabling plugins doesnt seem to make flash work. Just puts a big play button on flash movies that doesnt work.

Auto rotate working for anyone? Also, unable to watch Youtube videos directly.
No auto rotate here, but it did happen at least once unexpectedly!
What is the site you are trying to test the plugins?
Youtube shoots off into the youtube app.
Those who claim that this supports Flash, can you post a link to a page that contains some Flash content which works correctly? It doesn't seem to play the videos on the BBC News site (which play quite happily in IE).
yeah, it definetely support flash, i just saw a video on pocketnow
for autorotation use bsb tweaks, works like a charm

Being that we have Auto rotate for the web Browser via JF 1.41 and System Auto rotate via DroidSans ......... is it possible to make the Picture Album Auto rotate as well, because even thought the DroidSans Tweak tool allows some instance of Auto rotate it seems to be leaving out the Photo Album......... is there a way to make this Happen.
Yeh Mon ... One Love.... Irie ... In other words Thank You
I second this request. Every other app seems to handle the autorotation automatically, and the picture app could be one of the most useful ways to use autorotation, given that pictures are often taken in both landscape and portrait mode.
Thank you to any who can pull this off.
It would be nice to add the multi-touch zooming to the picture app too...
Lol yes that would be cool. Hope some skillful person sees this
and add the *patented* iphone swipe across to move to the next picture (instead of having to hit the buttons...)
i just use the photo album in astro it auto rotates by itslef

This is really what i want, and of course auto-rotate would be a nice add on as well.
WOw, with this much interest I wonder why this was never addressed before ...... and we dont have to do anything like the iPhone there is a lot more was to do Gestures, such as double tapping making a clockwise circle on the area of the pic you might want to zoom in one and a Counter Clock wise circle to Zoom out etc etc .....

Has anyone else seen the HP touchscreen computers? Or that microsoft tabletop one? And we swipe to move our Google maps. Giving Apple a patent on that seems really strange, especially since someone, I don't remember who, was demonstrating multi touch two or three years ago on a device which wasn't related to Apple in any way. (I wish I could remember where I saw that).
Anyway, I agree, I'd love to see multitouch and autorotate for our photos!

Apple patented it on mobile devices i think.
Another nice thing on the iPhone photo app is a double tap to automatically make it fill the screen. Heck, pinch zoom would be nice but barring that I'd just like the double-tap feature.
I add myself at the list of this requester... I love to see multitouch zoom and autorotate on the Photo gallery application!
I add this request and will be working on a basic photo application as well. I don't really care about Apple. These features are so easy to implement.
I think a lot people are confused on what apple has patented. Engadget has a good analysis here:

look up the gizmodo articles. they've had a bunch on apple patents and the palm pre recently.
the one i read about said that you only infringe on one of apple's patents if you had BOTH the swipe-to-zoom and the browser lock-to-x or y axis scrolling together.
right now the g1 has (oficially) the scrolling where if you only move it down it locks to the y axis and moves down only. same with left right. and if u start moving diagonal ur free to do whatever. the g1 doesnt infringe on THAT patent because it DOESNT also have the swipe-to-get to next picture.
I read one of those articles this morning. I wonder what will happen between Apple and Palm? I expect they will work it out between themselves, or it will be a mess.
Ill throw my hat in here too
I understand, though, that work here isnt paid for, so I understand if a dev decides NOT to work on it... I just hope one does
The important bit - get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551119
Note - this is a link to the corresponding thread on the Dream forum. All new versions and change log info can be found there (because I'm getting fed up with maintaining two threads )
What is this?
This is a new build of the stock browser, that incorporates the multitouch code from Cyan's build, along with some additional code of my own, primarily intended to make zooming less painful, and looking to gradually move towards an experience as rich as the Hero browser.
What does it do that's new, then?
* option in settings to disable the obnoxious on-screen zoom buttons that usually appear whenever you so much as breathe on the screen (turn off "Visual Zoom Controls" in the menu to get rid of them - off by default).
* when Visual Zoom Controls is disabled, option in settings to add zoom in and zoom out to the menu (although this will bump over options that are normally on the main menu to the "More..." list)
* NEW! Double tap to zoom! Double-tap the screen to zoom in. When it gets too ginormous (about four zooms) a subsequent double-tap will zoom all the way out. (Feedback request: I'm interested in what people think of the double-tap to zoom. Does it go one zoom too far before zooming all the way out?)
* As requested by fastludeh22, there is now an option for "Mobile Web View". Enabled by default. Turn it off and you'll get the full desktop version of website such as YouTube etc that autodetect mobile devices.
What do I need to run it?
It was written to run on Cyanogen builds, originally. Others have tried it on JACxROM and other ROMs with multitouch in the kernel. I personally see no reason why it wouldn't run on pretty much any Cupcake ROM, although I haven't tried it, and obviously Cyan's multitouch stuff wouldn't work without the kernel mods.
Is this the same browser that's been doing the rounds on this board lately? What's with the version 1 stuff
Yes. I've reset the version numbering and given it a name (i.e. BetterBrowser). So this is BetterBrowser v1 (which comes after Loccy's Browser v5 ). Next versions will be 1.1, 1.2, etc. It was getting a bit silly going up a version number every time I added a single menu option!
Future improvements I'm hoping to do:
* Full screen option
* Hero-style lairy Mac-type bookmarks
* Maintain zoom level across pages on same site (so it doesn't suddenly zoom back to 1:1 level when you browse to the next page).
* tidy up what behind the scenes is, unfortunately, some really kludgey code!
Thanks go to:
* Cyan, obviously, without whom none of this would have been possible, and whose ROMs continue to break new levels of awesomeness
* makethetick, who pointed me in the right direction for the code in the first places
Raspberries go to certain individuals in this thread.
*sigh* if only we had multitouch on 32A. I dream of the day
PS for asking a stupid question =x.. but how do i push this browser into the rom? i love cm roms and having an additional feature like tis 1 is always superb!
Something like this from your PC should do the trick:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app
mv Browser.apk Browser.original
exit
adb push Browser-cyan-pn-mod2.apk /system/sd/app_s/Browser.apk
okay thnx! will get back to you once i try it out
OKay so I've try it out.. the zoom is gone! Nice and Thank you.. So this browser doesn't have zoom functions?
it does have the zoom function but you zoom by pinching the screen verticly, like the iphone.
btw works ok so far just flashed it.
Oh, but mine can't seem to zoom tho, even with the pinching method did you follow the steps given by Loccy also?

Afraid not - that's an Android thing not a browser. When it refreshes, it's because Android has let the browser drop out of memory to use it for another app. So when you go back to the browser it's as if you're loading it from scratch all over again. At that point if it didn't refresh all you'd have would be a blank page.

That, I could probably do.
Is there no way this browser can be used on 32A? Even with the new kernel and all? Really LOVE the functions listed down

I've built a new version from Cyan's source that adds a menu item so that you can turn off the (in my opinion) obnoxious zoom controls that jump up in your face whenever you so much as breathe on the screen. Obviously, if you're running a Cyan ROM, you'll still have his multitouch zoom in and out. If you're not running a Cyan ROM, you zoom in and out from the menu options.

Nope. Not yet. That's the next thing I'm planning, though, although if I get time today I might quickly add another settings option so you can enable/disable the zoom buttons in the menu (some people in the Dream forums like them, others not, so it makes sense to make it a user config option). Multitap to zoom is a bit less trivial though and will have to wait until later on in the week when I'm not doing my day job!
Bounce for new version (see edited first post for details).

You Can Download Morphgear Here:
http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Download.aspx
You need to download the top one which is "Morphgear" and install it on the device.
Then
Download "Marat Fayzullin MorphModule Package" and install that.
Once these two steps are done, download the landscape skin here:
http://www.baskuipers.com/Overig/Morphgear skins.rar
Then move the two landscape part's into Games\Morphgear\Skins
if there is no skins folder make one.
Thats it. Then all you need to do is get some GBA roms and set the settings in morphgear to use the landscape pad. There is a video here showing how to do this:

How did you manage to do like in the video, i.e. load the game, switch orientation to north to make the pad appear and then back to west to play fullscreen?
Changing options is very difficult but doable without a game being loaded, but as soon as I load a game I cannot manage to change any of the settings....
Also, which are your settings for optimal performance? Even without fullscreen I cannot achieve playing Advance Wars at that speed (unless you disabled sound...)

Good day all,
i have searched the forums thoroughly and have been unable to find an answer.
I was looking for the best reader and after seeing allreader and mobipocket, i actually dont mind adobe pdf and using my finger to pull the pages down.
however, my query is if there is a hack/fix to allow true fullscreen for viewing, removing the bottom bar as well (as this bar is still there in fullscreen mode)
What would also be useful is if it were able to program the vol up and vol down buttons for scrolling
Now what are the odds?? Half an hour ago I was looking for absolutely the same thing with a friend of mine. We weren't able to find anything similar. I would appreciate some help as well!
I am looking the same thing
Yeah, me too.
We all are, lol
i gave up searching for a working pdf reader, i just convert them to .txt files and open them with alreader...
but if someody finds a real pdf reader I'll kiss his shoes
comicreader mobi has real fullscreen support but it doesn't support pdf yet. you have to convert them to cbz or cbr files (make images from each pdf page, add them to a zip and rename to cbz or to a rar and rename to cbr).
You can disable the toolbar in full screen mode via registry. It looks really good once disabled. I am on the train now, so cannot remember the keys but will reply again with the keys unless somebody else posts before me.
i will begin my search again tonight to find one.
i tried the allreader way before posting, and the tap bottom of the screen to turn pages is very nice. I will play with font size etc and see ho wi feel about that.
however it would be so easy to read pdf's from emails etc without converting if i could get the full screen reader.
don't get me wrong, its very usable as is, but such a waste of screen real estate while reading the pdf

Yes this is the right version. I installed this one (german version) and it didn't work on my HD2. After a longer search I found a version recompiled for ARM processors and that version worked fine. I recommend you try this one first and I will look if I find a link to the other version.^^

so i sort of know what im doing when it comes to rotation =)
im thinking this may be rom dependent? cant think of any other reason it didnt work if it does for you?!?! any ideas?

ahhh, fair enough
Only thing I can think of is the registry entry in your whitelist?
in mine its set as, YouTube with string of HTCYOUTUBE
Maybe, maybe not.
Are you talking about different versions of YouTube? Remember that there's the nice looking but limited HTC version that came with the phone, and then the ugly but with better functionality version that Google released a while back.
Edit:
Actually, scratch that because I can get both versions to rotate, so it's obviously nothing to do with that.

its all there... first thing i checked after adding it in with bsb.
maybe theres another class that needs to be added?
what is really weird here is after enabling rotate with your little reg tweak it should have worked straight away as i use gyrator 2 nowadays to rotate EVERY screen on the device regardless.
It doesnt even matter if i cant get it going... its not the end of the world... but now im simply curious as to why it works for others and not me?
maybe the rom has to be manila landscape enabled!?!?! that the only thing i can think of as i use a stock rom.

ah... i was replying before you edited.
Your edit has dashed my hopes for glory in this conquest.
oh well... such is life!
Thanks!
Got it to work and it works great.
Used all your registry tweaks:
Check: HKLM/Software/HTC/YouTube/EnableRotate
Set that entry to 1.
Check: HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\Gsensor\ModuleName
Add a new STRING Value:
Name: YouTube
Value: \Windows\Youtube.exe
Check: HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\Gsensor\Whitelist
Add a new STRING Value:
Name: YouTube
Value: HTCYOUTUBE
I am happy with it.
PS: I have Artemis V8.0 NLD Rom running in case it won't work on stock rom.
youtube landscape
Try Gyrator works on almost every app.
I have it rotating great....but anyone find that when youre watching a video you cant touch the screen...it wont respond?
And you need to flip back to portrait when the video is playing to be able to touch the screen?
Yes, that's true. Eitherway, it's a choice to have YT in landscape mode, and because the playing of the video was already set in landscape mode, it flips another 90 degrees. Therefore you cant select stop, pauze, back buttons etc.
So it's not that it doesn't respond, it does, but it cannot comply having a landscape view set to landscape mode.
The YT app just simple doesn;t understand.
Therefore you have to flip the phone back upright, for the buttons to re-appear.
Like I said, it's a choice wanting the YT menus be visible in landscape mode... this is what ya get if you need to hack, rather than having a newer version...
We just have to wait until YT themselves come up with a better version which include the option of having a landscape mode or not.
Bye now.
