Text message notifications???

Again, I searched for about 30 minutes before posting this.. in both diamond and touch pro forums and all over here.. I figure this is a common issue, but still found nothing. Maybe I'm a bad searcher... (Sorry)
I get a ring sound, but no visual notification of texts or emails.
Is there anyway to make touchflo3D or something show the actual text message or email pop up when received?
I'm sure there's a small notification icon somewhere, but I can't see it... And even if I could.. I'd rather the message just pop up anyway.

You need to go to Start>settings>sounds & notifications>Notifications Tab>Event>Messaging: New text message> then click the "display message on screen" box.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
EDIT: Repeat same cycle for email notifications.

okay im having a problem with that. I've done that several times and it works for several minutes then my on screen notification stops showing up and the setting is unchecked. Im not sure if its becuase i receive a txt msg while using an app or w/e but i have 2 go through that setting like 5x a day...its gettin annoying!!! any ideas??

Having same problem here. The "display on screen" box keeps becoming unchecked on its own. Does anyone have any idea/solution to this? I recently took my phone back to O2 to upgrade to the latest firmware, and it's still happening. I'm pretty sure it happened with the previous firmware as well.

I noticed that a long time ago too and don't have the solution.
But it seems to me that the option gets unchecked automatically only when you are doing some specifics things wth your device. Otherwise it remains checked and works properly.
For example having the option checked, open some of your usual applications and send yourself an sms (my carrier allows me to send myself an sms through their webpage ) and you 'll see that sms pops up with some of them and not with others.
Luckyly the most recent version of windows mobile (the one with the thick bottom bar) has a new notification method, so when you touch the taskbar, an amplified version of that taskbar rolls out, and there you 've a "message icon". You touch that icon and it drives you directly to the pOutlook app and shows you the message. That's Cool!

Making a tweak so only a few messages show in conversation texts?

Currently i recieve lots of texts, i've noticed that I can not reply straight away when my text messages are set to show like a conversation because my htc hd 2 has to load all the texts. I was wondering if someone could make a tweak where it only showed the last 5 or 10 messages so i can reply instantly

Yes. 2nd that. That is the only problem with HD2 now for me

I've had a quick look at the registry, but couldnt find anything useful.
I dunno if its set in a manila-file or in the messagingapplication itself.
Would be nice to tweak this...

with my HTC P3600 I had sms routing and it only showed the 10 last messages,
if you wanna see older messages you could press, 'see history',

One way to overcome the delay until a fix comes out, is as soon as you open the conversation, click 'send' and a warning window pops up asking if you want to send a blank text, select 'no' and there you have the whole conversation loaded instantly. Plus I noticed last night when I disabled the sense ui and installed Spbmobile shell 3.5.2, the Htc messaging app will still take a while to load the conversation but at least you can type out your reply while its doing it.

Oh i see, thanks! I will try the blank text thing for now

I tend to read my sms from manila then click the "new sms" icon and basically write a new sms rather than clicking reply. Until a fix is found I have found this the quicker way to reply to sms.

OR... you can click on "Send" and then cancel and its all done. Works like a charm.

Sms sound Notification

Hi all,
Since yesterday, when i receive a sms, the sms notification sound doenst work.
I already did a soft reset, the configuration of sms notification is ok(when i test the notification sound, works well) but when i receive a sms it doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong??

suddenly stop working...now the only way that i have is to see if i have a new sms is the leed notification ...

Problem solved.
My mom was trying to use my HTC and hung me the system sounds ...
Grrrrrrr ... After turning the sound already works ...
I leave an advice ... Do not let your mothers use your HTC ... strange things happen ...

Check if the sound file appears in:
HKCU\\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D65B-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\Wave

GOSMS PRO?

Does anyone here use GO SMS PRO? Im having an issue where if a text comes in and the popup shows the message, and I dont touch the phone and the screen turns off, GOSMS PRO will mark the message as read as the notification is removed and when you go to the app, it shows that the message was read when it was not. Also if I just close the popup window it also marks the message read and there should be an option to mark it read or not. anyone know how to resolve?
If I can not, I will have to remove the program as I am missing text messags because the come in and later when I look at the phone, and go into the program, I find text messages I didnt know I had.

SPRINT LOVERS ROM. I tested it several times. I receive a text message and as soon as the screen goes off, the notification is gone and the message is market read. I switched to a program called SMS POPUP that works with the standard text messaging app that comes with the phone and it doesnt dismiss the notification or mark the message read. I think there is a GOSMS PRO error.. also if yo just close the popup, the notification goes away.. whats funny is later I went into the GO SMS APP and I saw the popup window still open in there..

Does anyone know how to email the developers so I can ask them about this issue???

Didnt even see his email
you can set the popup to not show the message if you dont want...

BTW - I just tried handcent and it doesnt have this issue and works great!

I used handcent for awhile, I really like it. I just went with gosms for a change. I like to switch it up a bit to keep my brain guessing. lol

IM trying to figure our why I need this over the STOCK app + SMS POPUP? can someone tell me??

Well because sms popup looks retarded and the stock sms app isnt better than chomp, handcent, or gosmspro. and maybe because you just wanna have your own spin on very little part of your phone

Any way to fix the SMS messages being out of order on the GB Roms?

Seems only the GB sense roms have this issue... anyone know of a fix?

Download Go SMS. Under services (or something? one of the last two options) go to the bottom and change message order from something like "time received" to "order received" the times will still be wrong but your conversation will at least be in order..
Or try Handcent I'm sure there is a similar feature

try SMS Time Fix from the market. It worked for me when I was on GB. Its free too!!

I don't see why it wouldn't work, it orders everything based on when you received it and not the time.. I tried both last night and they still worked for me..

silly question, but did you enable sms time fix and go through the settings?

I didn't think the sms time fix app worked at first since I did not run the app and turn it on lol never had an out of place text since

ummm, yes it does. I have done it and all of my messages are in order.

Yea so i made a mistake, i thought it was supposed to re-order the texts i already received. Im happy to report it does work!. Thanks for your help once again guys!
