I'm researching batteries with a view to getting the best life possible out of an XDA2 between recharges.
What replacement/spare batteries do people use and what is their power (mAh) rating?
What other things can people tell me on this?
I'm not averse to back-packs etc.
TIA
I have one of the batteries available on eBay. Seems the same as the original battery. I carry the spare in my belt case.
I got mine from www.pdamods.com and have been using it for three months now, must say better than the original and in fact looks like an original !!!
I have three batteries. One came with the unit, I bought another from the same shop, the third I bought 2nd hand. All appear identical and all 1200mah. I swap them through my XDA II every week or so so that they each get drained and recharged regularly. When not in use one is on charge in my desktop cradle in the office, other in my briefcase.
All seem to last about the same amount of time.
Must admit though since buying an integrated car kit for my XDA II (plus GPS) I do not have to swap batteries as often.
Ed
You can find batteries at 1400mAh, same size as the original and officially 20-30% increased autonomy.
Battery question
Thanks everyone for all the help you've given to me in the past. I have a couple battery related questions:
1. I just got a new battery from PCPockettechs. It is rated 3.8VDC 1200 mAh. The current battery in my XDA II is rated 3.7VDC 1200mAh. I have not tried the new battery yet and am worried that the extra 0.1VDC might cause it some harm. Does anyone know or have experience with this difference? Am i worrying for nothing?
2. The extra battery charger that is in the cradle - it does not appear to be working (the light does not come on). Does the XDA II battery have to be fully charged before it starts charging the extra battery? Does the cradle need to be plugged in to the AC (I have the EU cable which I cannot use) before it will charge or can it just be connected via USB as I do now?
Thanks again,
Sean
Hi,
When I purchased mine from www.pdamods.com it worked straight out of the box. Unless it is completely flat it should work even if charged for a short while, however you should charge it for 18 hours on the first charge.

As far a I know you have to use the AC adapter. USB won't work.
Not true, I charge it with the USB, however NOTE it does take longer
The MDAII charges on USB only too.
Not sure about charging an extra battery (that is what the question is about I think)
thanks guys. Yes, the MDA II or XDA II both charge in the cradle just on USB... however, will it also charge the extra battery just on USB? I don't think it will unfortunately.
On my other question: does anyone know if the 0.1VDC difference will make a difference? The battery appears to be the right size, shape, same connectors, etc. as the original battery - the only difference being this 0.1VDC.
Anyone with some good electrical/technical info that they could share would be great. It would put my mind at ease - or stop me from making a big mistake!
The MDA II charges on USB (in the cradle).
But for the extra battery to charge in the cradle you need to plug in the power (and then the light will turn on!).
I buy a new battery for my Qtek 2020 from http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8464
I receive the battery today and I put on the PDA and then connect to AC adapter...
the battery stops charging in 96% and I disconnect AC adapter, but the phone turns off and only works connected to the AC adapter.
If I use the old battery it works well, but with the new one, only work connected to the AC adapter.
now I have it connected to the cradle, and seems to be charging and says that it is 100%, but after a while it restarts and I don't know why
It's possible that the battery is not charged and windows mobile shows 100%?
my old battery is same model but as only 1200mAh, the new as 1600mAh.
sorry for my english, any help will be appreciated.
thanks.
Sounds as though the new batery is either not connecting correctly in the XDA or is a fauty unit that wont hold a charge. Given thatthe phone turns off immediately you disconnect the AC i would suspect the former.
Check there isn't stick stuff / tarnish over the battery connecters on the new battery - and that the pins are making contact.
Is it a genuine-looking battery?

it's the battery from the link, it's not genuine, but seems equal to my other battery.
the new battery says Made in Taiwan and the old says Made in Japan.
apparently the new battery is full charged, but PDA don't use the charge...
thanks for the advice, the connetors and the pins are clean.

I don't think so, I got a 1300mAh (which is a genuine 02 product) for my xda2 and use the original as a back up battery.
Dear Sir,
I bought a new HTC Touch pro 2 and I need to have the right advice regarding the first time charging the battery since in the manual theu said 3 hours and one of my friends advised me to leave it on the charges for 8 hours.
my question to the experts is as follows:
1-how many hours you advice to keep the new battery on the charge?
2- For next time charging, do i need to keep it till it lights green ?
3- when I am supposed to re-charge it ( till the battery reaches 0 % or 30% )?
Please advice
Regards,
ZongoL
On my experience no matter if you charge it all night or charge only a few while, after 3 or 4 years you will have to replace your battery
So use it as normal in the way you want and enjoy!
Charging - need some technical help
Hello everybody,
Since the best phone ever died (or better: drown) on me (HTC Universal OFCOURSE!). I had to look for a replacement and TP2 seemed like the best of bad things. LOL!
I noticed that the wall charger had a 5V -1A(mpere) output. My (standard) car charger has a 5V - 0,5 A output. So I got the notice "your current power supply... not enough ...close some ...."
Besides the fact that e.g. tomtom uses more than the charger can give, i was wondering :
is it BAD for my battery charging at 0,5A instead of 1A ?
how much A does a laptop give when charging my TP2 trough USB port?
HAs this got sth to do with the fact that in some programs there is an option like "do not charge while connected to PC?"
I know this is more of an offtopic question, but I hope there is somebody with enough electrical knowledge to help me out!
THX!

hello,
I have recently bought an htc desire battery charger and an extra battery from ebay , both are suppose to be genuine products.
well, the situation goes like this:
the battery charger charge only my original battery (blinks with a white led)
but doesn't charge the second battery (lights a red led).
however, when I charge the batteries with my phone , both get charged just fine.
I'm not sure if the problem is with the charger or the battery , but I think it's the battery fault.
does the htc C410 battery charger can identify and charge only genuine htc batteries? did some one got that same issue?
is there a way to find out if a battery is genuine or not?
and is there something I can do with the charger so it can charge both batteries ? because right now it's pretty lame....
thx, Nitzan
Hello,
My Toshiba AT270 bought in January 2013. The tablet does not load and remains on the screen with the red battery without recharging.
Even powered on, the tablet does not charge.
I am looking for a replacement battery, but the one I found on the web are more than 50€ would you have a better price?
Thank you in advance.
I encounter a battery problem with my AT270 tablet, the battery is at 0% is impossible to recharge.
When I plug the wall charger (when off) the Battery relaod icon appears but remains red and the battery does not charge.
Like when the tablet is started (connected with the AC adaptater), the battery icon appears with a flash as if she was going to charge but it did nothing.
Do you have a solution. If not where can I am looking for a replacement battery, but the one I found on the web are more than 40€ would you have a better price?
Exemple on Ali Express
Thank you in advance.
