Pushing "upgrades" to a stock 1.6 rom? - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

Hello, I recently reverted to a near stock 1.6 rom (coming from a 1.5 sense rom).
I managed to install the HTC keyboard and the calibration tool... the one other thing that I really miss from the sense 1.5 rom is the additional options that you get when you long press the power button.
It gives you the vibration setting on that page as well as the silent setting... (something that I'm constantly changing).
Is there anyway to push this option to the phone (a la the htc keyboard) or is this something that's integral to the sense UI?
Sorry if this is a dumb question!

Windows Mobile 6.5 - Lock Screen is slow

Hi,
I have installed the latest WM6.5 Build 21725 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=513605) on my HTC Touch Pro.
But I have a problem (which occurs on all tested roms) with the lock screen: I lock the device. The lock screen appears fast and is immediately responsible. But when I go to suspend mode (by waiting or pressing the power key) and then let wake up the device, I have always to wait a lot of time until the lock screen is responsible to unlock the device. This is very annoying and I want to fix that "bug". Can anybody help me?
Same here. And does anyone know how to remap one of the softkeys to lock the screen? Instead of have to push start >> lock?
i had this with a 6.5 rom
what i did was after i turn backlight on i quickly press the hangup buttton and then the slide works fine
this may have to do until the rom becomes more stable

all i can do is ask youve tried this on a 6.1 based rom
this is a knowing trouble because of the beta
Hey pilot... this is a real kick on the ass cause nobody answer this many times users needs a third party app to lock their devices... i didnt lock my device... i just turn it off and disable all the buttons you see... its like a locked simply and crapy phone function.
well i know it looks good que but the problem i had was after a while in standby the buttton would shift to any side however i know the phone wasnt crashed due to the little arrow animatiuons kept going as normal all i did was tap the phone down button and then it worked as it should mind you this was davie ducks v8 on the hd
I figured out that the lock screen is immediately responsible if you set a password. But I don't want to slide AND then type a password
just slide the time bar at the below screen before slide the lock :| i got this bug after upgrading into a 6.5 rom :| now it's done by myself :">
remember at the time of the OPs question 6.5 was very buggy
a lot of the latest releases are a lot better
Laggy
I also have this laggy problem when clicking the right key to bring up unlock screen, takes a while for the unlock screen to appear.
Was looking at ThrottleLock which looks good, but not compatible with 6.5.
I hate iphones so don't want S2U2 !!
Looking forward to update
Correction
Correction, just tried an older version of throttlelock app 0.6, and it works with windows mobile 6.5
Is there some way to just turn the lock screen off? I hate how slow it is on my backup phone, an LG KS20
You may have it in settings-personal, if not, go to HKLM\software\microsoft\shell\lockscreen, and change 'enable' from 1 to 0. Then, you'll have to old-style lockscreen. If you want to see the lockscreen settings applet, then change 'ShowLockScreenPicker' from 0 to 1. You may need to soft reset (but you may not).

Thanks Ted! Works perfectly, for some reason the Lock Screen settings applet won't show, but that's not important as the first registry key solves my problem.
Yeah one way is to set back original WM5x/6/6.1 LockScreen but I have solved it another way... Maybe you have noticed that the new WM6.5 lock screen has delay ONLY on first run so what about put a shortcut to "\Windows\Startup" to lock device on startup (http://www.vijay555.com/?Releases:VJDeviceLock - working also with WM6.5)? I mostly don't need to use the device in first seconds after startup so everything necessary can load to memory and then after unlocking my device is everything relatively fast ;-) BTW you can set lockings with tool named Smart Lock (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505032).

The problem with the 6.5 lockscreen is that it kills gwes.exe (at least in my experience). Do a soft reset, open up a task manager and look at gwes.exe. With dotfred's, I'll start at maybe 15 MB, and as soon as I open the lockscreen (I get the delay, too), the gwes usage jumps by about 6 MB, and none of the ram is released. It makes my device buggy over time. Gwes.exe is bloated enough with 6.5.3 roms, you really don't need the lockscreen killing it like that.
I don't know if it's an issue on a stock rom, but the cooked ones have problems. In the 6.5 cooking thread, Da_G said a while ago that it had to do with how most kitchens compile roms. They compress all files the same way, and ignore flags in the dsm's that say whether or not a file should be compressed. He's said that cooking an uncompressed rom fixes the problem. I've tried making a cab of the lockscreen and running it that way, but I still get the initial delay and the 6 MB ram-tax on gwes.exe, so whatever is breaking the lockscreen during cooking because of the forced compression isn't in the lockscreen packages. Anyway, the lockscreen is cool, but I personally hate what it does to gwes.exe, so I don't use it.
What your saying about cooked vs. stock is likely correct, as I had briefly owned an HTC Pure (ATT branded Diamond 2), which shipped with 6.5, and there were absolutely no delays with the lock screen. On the other hand, I still haven't flashed 6.5 onto my X1, so I don't know if its just that my LG can't handle the lockscreen with its 400mhz qualcomm.

Remove all traces of TouchFlo, how?

Hi
I'm not particulary impressed with the TouchFlo interface. It seems very rough around the edges, for example when you reply to a text message you get an HTC message thread, but if you select to send a new text message the TouchFlo dumps you back to the standard SMS message screen of Windows Mobile. The HTC message thread view becomes incredibly slow when you have a lot of text messages for a single contact as it wants to load all of them, not just the most recent, which seems bad programming.
It also consumes CPU cycles constantly even when not doing anything which all adds to battery drain.
So I've started to try and get rid of it.
This is what I have done so far:
1) In the Today settings unticked TouchFlo, this gets rid of a chunk of it.
2) Disabled the notification service, this allows clicking on the individual icons for battery etc and you go straight to those settings/information dialogs.
3) Disabled the EnlargeStartMenu setting so the start menu is the normal font size.
Things still remain, and I would like to know how to get rid of them if anyone knows:
a) The TouchFlo style volume control still appears, I want the original back which allows setting individual volumes for system and ringing.
b) Dialogue boxes still have the TouchFlo styling, how do I revert back to.
I've also been able to add HTC Home and all in all the device is so much better and faster.
Regards
Phil
maybe you can try one of those "manila-free" roms that are starting to appear in the roms section.
HTC has changed a lot in the Operating system, that's why you can't simply turn off those "skins" like in volume control, I think... At least I didn't find until now a way to get rid of it.
Wait for a simple 6.1 ROM without touchflo and its touchflonettes (lol)
How did you disable the notification services?
Hi
How did you disable the notification services?

I used 'Task Manager 3.1' to edit the registry, under the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services is an entry for 'NOTIFICATION MANAGER', I changed the DLL key value to 'xNotificationManager.dll' so it wouldn't load, and this removed it.

You can disable 'single volume' and get the old style in TF Settings tab > Sound.
I'm with you buddy - see my thread on "Getting Rid of TF3D" for more info.
Loving my TD2 without TF3D - it's been a few weeks now and there's absolutely nothing I miss about TF3D. The TodayAgenda plugin is....just.....awesome.

I've sorted this out, it was some software loading when the device starts to skin the volume control.
The key is at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher\Services\HTCVolume
to stop it loading I renamed the DLL under the key 'Module' so it couldn't be loaded and this now keeps the standard volume controls.

i know this is an old thread, but htc has two volume controls as well:
change HKLM\software\HTC\VolumeOverlay\ SimpleMode to 0
Just deactivate it from the today settings and you should be fine, it doesn't take up that much space.
EDIT: I just went back to WM6.1 from a cooked WM6.5 ROM, I'm going to buy SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 because I think it's more indepth than TF3D is even tho I love TF3D.
Save yourself the trouble of MBS 3.5 - it's the most bugged piece of junk i have ever seen, and in fact i have asked for my money back under their 30 days refund policy
TF3D is WAAAY better than MBS3.5 - and MBS 3.0 is waaay better than 3.5

Use my TD2 Tools app, its in a sticky thread at the top of the topaz general forum.
It has options to disable htc notification manager and htc volume control as well as options to bring back the small start menu! you didnt look very far guys! lol

[Q] CM7 parts for non-cm rom?

There's really only 3 things that I really like from CM, and they are the notification widget, extended power controls widget, and hold volume to skip track. I know the last one requires a bit of under the hood work, so I'm ok with not getting that. Anyone know where I can find the two widgets for download for non-cm roms?
(don't think it matters, but NS4G running an AOSP rom)

[Q] Coredroid lockring gone

Hi, I just started modding my phone and after using some roms the Coredroid 2.7 seems to fit best for my Sensation XE.
But after changing some settings (Ican't remember what I've changed anymore) the lockring is gone and I have to swipe from left to right at the bottom to unlock the screen.
Can anybody help me out in telling me where I can get my lockring back?

Hi,
If it's a Sense 3.0 ROM,you could try one of the lockrings in my signature.
I believe what you are looking for is found in settings--tweeks--choose lockscreen style--HTC Sense.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
Well, I had smartkeyboard pro running and I removed it but it is only after cold booting the phone that changing the Lockscreen setting to HTC sense had an effect.
I tried already before changing the lockscreen setting but nothing happened, it most have changed by going a cold booting before.
What about the keyboard, I have settings for Android Keyboard, Gingerbread keyboard and when selecting touch input I have settings for international keyboard.
What settings will be effective when, I can switch the Android keyboard on and off but I cannot do the same for the Gingerbread keyboard.
So what if I want to add another keyboard (the smartkeyboard pro for instance) what keybaord will be effective when, do they switch immediate or do I have to do a coldboot?

[Q] Default Button Behavior CM9

I am using CM9 Alpha 9 now, and I love it, but the one thing I did like about stock (and I am most likely a minority) is the default button behaviors. I didn't really mind the menu key popping up when an app wasn't updated for ICS. I was wondering if there was a way to switch it back to the default behavior or not?
Sorry if this question has been asked, I tried searching but could not find an answer.
