The MT3G still has the same amount of ram as the Dream which is why its slow but has more Rom 512 instead of 256 on Dream.

Once the Fender is rooted it has the specs all official Sense UI phones have so it can run a custom version just fine.

Fender has already been rooted. At least the solution has already been posted in the Sapphire forums. However, the Fender does not have the same RAM as all other 32A phones. It has 256mb instead of the normal 288, at least that's what TmoNews said and they posted a picture of it's RAM here

Yes but we still wont have any roms for a couple weeks. The fender kernel is very tricky.
Plus its 32a which means a lot of new roms will have to be made rather then ported. Open eclair will have the drivers in it soon.

I think I would pay money for a fully functional and performance-friendly (without swap anyway) Sense ROM for the myTouch 3G DD

[32A] Which ROM with Donut and SenseUI?

Hi,
I see Cyanogen mods are using Donut. And I see MyHero and others having SenseUI (semi-official or less), but still using Cupcake. I'm little confused and no FAQ or looking on last posts helped me... There is any ROM using both Donut and SenseUI for my HTC Magic by TIM (32A)? Thank u!
Ciao
it is not written yet as far as i know.
There is a one ROM with properties: based on Donut 1.6 and has SenceUI - it is experimental port from Tattoo.
Unfortunately, it's only for 32B-device, until devs make kernel for 32A
According this news
http://www.androidguys.com/2009/10/28/european-htc-hero-skipping-1-6-update/
HTC will skip update for Hero on Donut1.6, update will be on Eclair 2.0 based
Donut 1.6 is an intermediate platform.

Ah! good to know... but now the question will change: The Kernel is one thing and the UI is a upper layer. So we can suppose it is not hard to cook a ROM with the two things together... or not?

sorry for the ot:
htc says the update 2.0 will be for htc hero.. and for the magic? think htc updates?
The HTC Tattoo uses Android 1.6 with Sense UI
It can be probed in a 32b device with this port.

I think that sense will be for donut soon.

Magic 32A is almost identical to HERO (Hardware).
Looking forward to an Eclair Sense rom in the future but eclair has mostly new UI features so it would cancel out with sense UI maybe
sense is designed for cupcake so please wait
i believe that htc will release it soon 。
sorry for my bad english。

The Tattoo rom some people are working on here is the Donut Sense UI rom I believe.
Eugene was working on it but he moved somewhere else.

If you have the stock Rogers.. you'll have 1.5 still.. HTC or Rogers haven't released any updates for their Magic.
that's why i rooted my phone, I couldn't wait for HTC/Rogers to release their updates..
rogers stock is running 1.5

Also, does Tattoo comes with Exchange at all?

I don't think both of these ROMs support Exchange.
Well, I've read that Exchange works on Amon RA's ROM but no synchronization of contacts and calendars..
I'm pretty sure Cyans ROM doesn't support Exchange as well..
Any other ROMs with 1.6 and supports Full Exchange sync? I've heard Daldroid has it. Anyone tried it yet?

2.1 SDK Released

I'm sure y'all devs already know this http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/01/android-21-sdk.html , but just in case ..If so mods please delete this
It is including the Sapphire's drivers?
Confirmed.
Downloading ...
Nice.. hope there are 2.1 roms to come that have camera, bluetooth and every thing working
Now if only HTC will release their 2.1 ROMs to Hero/Sapphire soon... Sense + 2.1, that'd be awesome.

You won't get working camera's until HTC releases the drivers, this has nothing to do with the SDK... now... to just get HTC to let us have them...

amazing!!
this should work perfectly on magic after port!!
Great. Thanks for sharing the news.
32B Dream user and unrootable 32A Magic owner here awaiting the good news
Might this mean proper drivers and more MDPI apps across the board?
The Droid Eris is 320x480 so we don't need to rely on those HDPI apps anymore! Better Eclair roms!
Does someone want to extract some of the goodies out of this thing?
WOW!!!!

้here comes the good news
ROM version 2.26.605.2
Radio 1.01.00
Hboot 1.49.0000
None of those match with Magic/Dream build numbers
Files inside zip are dated Feb 11
unpacked system.img = 167 MB
So fitting this into a Dream is more than a stretch
I'm happy and sad...
This proves that 2.1 will run on a Magic 32A, but HTC doesn't find that important enough because providers are not selling it anymore!

true that has not been released... but this a fully functional leaked version!
it would be great (if possible) to have it ported to magic 32a
Well someone could cross post this over in G1 thread to spread the news.
This should improve the performance of a lot of the Eclair bits in our ROMs, some of which are still hdpi bits.

I hope you are right. I just feel sad because HTC didn't mention the Magic at all when it came to 2.1 Sense, and now the Eris version leaks and that phone has the same memory/CPU specs as the Magic.

[SOURCE] HTC releases Aria source code

Looks like HTC released the Aria source code. HTC Aria – Froyo MR – 2.6.32 kernel source code
Just the kernel source. Not unexpected as the GPL requires it.
I've been looking through it. I suspect there'll be a FR009 soon with new kernel based on this source. I've already compiled one that is identical to the HK kernel some are using as a substitute for the kernel in FR008, only this one is overclockable.

Gene,
Any idea what the differences are between this latest release and the prior FroYo release by HTC? I'm guessing this is Aria-specific...
I've not been keeping up too much with Aria Froyo lately. I've been working with basically an FR005 with a custom kernel based on ATTN1's FR008 kernel source at github (which itself is based on the CM6 kernel with some hacks for the htc specific stuff to work) and it has been working well.
By prior Froyo releases, I guess you mean for other HTC phones? AFAIK, this is the first release by HTC of kernel source for the Froyo Aria (or more specifically the liberty since AT&T is still stalling on a Froyo release for the aria). Asian and European liberties (gratia) have been Froyo for awhile, but the kernel source for these hadn't been released until now.
I don't know if ATTN1 will get a new FRxxx ROM with this kernel out anytime soon; seems he's been working on the new AT&T Inspire lately.

Thanks for the info - makes sense to me.
I've used the FR008 release, and it's very smooth. The only reason I went with CM7 is to check out the latest Android version -
Personally, I think the Aria is a speedy phone using any ROM. I actually like the Sense UI, and the email client (which offers pinch-to-zoom) and the browser (with visual multi-windows) are very useful.

I misunderstood. I thought he said, "I've already compiled one that is identical to the HK kernel." I didn't read into this that the HTC FroYo 2.2 kernal source just released is identical to the Hong Kong kernal.
All I did was take a .config from the HK kernel and build from source. That went fine. Then I just added the higher speeds to the cpu frequency table (to allow over-clocking) and compiled again. Installed on my aria and it works fine at 806 mhz. and I'm loving sense again. Haven't fully tested everything yet, but so far, so good.

Here's what I'm running currently. Use at your own risk (nandroid first!):
http://hoxnet.com/droid/update_hoxnet-liberated_oc_kernel.zip
http://hoxnet.com/droid/update_hoxnet-liberated_oc_kernel_a2sd.zip
edit: better start naming these something useful as I may have to post more.
Update: this first one has the a2sd stuff stripped from init.rc for those like me who don't use it. If you use A2SD, use the second one.

Thanks Gene...
This is a really small zip file - can I install it right over CM7, or must I already have FR008 loaded? I'm guessing the latter...
This is just the kernel and ramdisk (commonly called the boot.img ). I don't know what it will do on a CM7 build. Maybe I'll try it. It's compiled based on the .config from the Gratia kernel (sometimes referred to as the HK kernel). It should be a drop-in replacement for the FR00x series up to FR008 (which had a CM6 based kernel). I don't run FR008, but I suspect it will work fine with that since many are using the HK kernel with FR008.
I know this is off topic but, what chances do we have of someone porting the new sense.... I would like to try myself if its possible....

HTC will not publish or release the Sense UI source code and the only devices that currently have HTC Sense 2.0 are the Desire Z and Desire HD which have a different screen resolution than the Aria, so trying to port the existing modules from those ROMs would be troublesome also.
I didn't know there was a sense 2.0. Maybe we'll see that on the Aria AT&T update supposedly out soon.
I seen it ported to the desire from the desire hd, and it looks really nice.... kinda of see thru. So your saying it has to be ported from a phone with the same screen resolution?

None of the HTC models from last year that have gotten a Froyo update have had the new Sense 2.0 (i.e. Desire, Wildfire, Aria). They have only shipped it on the new machines such as the Desire HD, Desire Z and HTC Inspire.

Yes I believe that is true. Both the Desire and the Desire HD are hdpi resolution models where as the Aria is mdpi resolution.
The Wildfire S has the same screen resolution and Hardware as the Aria. This phone will be released with HTC Sense 3.0. Any chance we could port from the Wildfire S Rom, which BTW will also have Gingerbread 2.3.3 out of the box.

TBD once the Wildfire S is actually released. It's all speculation at this point.
