IGO8 & Traffic updates UK - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Anyone managed to get it to work yet?
I could really do with it now, dont like having to keep going into googlemaps for my traffic, especially while driving along.

GPS on Raphael

Tested it out today, counted from when I opened OCN8 and it took exactly 30 seconds to get a fix. Perfectly acceptable if you ask me, especially seeing as I'll only use it for long drives.
great to know man
Thx for sharing
Did you try any button mapping software?
With or with out A-GPS??

With A-GPS, I don't think you can turn it off.
Only one GPS setting: Enable AGPS: Checkbox.
No, I haven't done any button mapping to the other person who asked.
Is the device as fast as shown in unwired videos?

Yep, 26 seconds for me using Garmin.
And yes, mine is as fast as the videos. Definitely an improvement over the Diamond, despite the Diamond's speed improvements with recent cooked ROM's.
Amazing what a bit of extra RAM will do...
Great, thanks for the info
Since you're using Garmin
I've always found it's notifications to be quite lower than other GPS s/w even when placing an attention tone prior
Is it any louder on the Raph speakers in comparison with Kaiser?

You know what, I've not managed to get a GPS fix using Copilot 7 or Google Maps.
Strange. Very quick for me too.

Make sure to download QuickGPS before you use those programs, that may be your issue.

Fast like, TF3D being fast? Check this video out, AT&T model, 100% out of the box and not 1 tweak applied:

Now with tweaks, it's unreal.
Nope, still not working.
Have you tried GpsTest?

Oh, no...what's that? Is it something built in or is it an app I have to install?
EDIT:
Copilot has a GPS Status thing built in. Looks like I can only see one satellite. Kind of weird.

Are you outside or inside some building?
GPS works fine for me in both Google Maps and TomTom Navigator. Indoors is not so great, but whilst in a car it was fine all the way home on a 30 minute journey!

I'm in my house, my Kaiser right next to it is working fine.
GPS isn't supposed to work indoors... If you need it indoors, you may also need to be living in a psychiatric ward. :\
I got full signal in front of my house according to OCN8's little GPS status bar, for those who care.
As mentioned earlier, QuickGPS will help (hopefully as it has been useless for me since Kaiser WM6.1 ROMs started to be cooked)
BUT
You need to give it time first to aquire GPS fix alone THEN go back to your PC to download the QuickGPS data
To make sure you have everything afterwards successful,
reboot your PDA and see if you can aquire a faster fix.
You can test with GPSTest attached here.
If it didn't solve your problem, check with other fellow Raph holder their Radio versions and yours.
If you are to flash, do not forget to HardSPL your device.
Good luck and give us more feedback

@fireblade63
I'd say the notification volume in Garmin is about the same as it is in the Kaiser, so I agree - it's certainly not the loudest, but I'm someone who likes the Sat-Nav turned down a bit anyway. I hate having the things shouting at me, especially if there are other people in the car who I'm trying to talk to.
My father-in-law, on the other hand, could never cope with the Garmin / Raphael combination because he turns his TomTom XL up to full volume, which drives me mental on the odd occasion I have to experience it!
So, no, the Raphael is no louder as far as I can tell.

how to STOP tomtom resetting system clock

Hi, I have a HTC Touch 3G, aka HTC Jade running WM6.1.
I am running Tomtom Navigator 7.9 which works fine.
I always like to set my clocks a few minutes faster than the official time (as a habit to stop me running late...)
However every time I use Tomtom, it acquires the GPS official time, and resets my HTC's system time without asking! It's quite annoying for me. Is there any way I can avoid this? Apart from manually changing the time every time after I've used TomTom?
as a fix, can I run some sort of auto script so I can run a shortcut to make system clock go forward by 5 minutes?
any suggestions would be great. thanks!
how about configuring your brain to think your a couple minutes ahead?

Hmmmm,
Even if u don't like his answer, u'll have to live with it... u can't stop TT from resetting ur clock. Navigation is all about timing. If u have ur clock ahead, u can't get a fix cos TT will see the signal from the GPS as 'too late' and ignore them.

here you go my friend
TomTom resetting my clock! HTC - Touch HD
I notice from other people's comments that this may not be a possibility but I am in the UK and therefore in BST, now, when I load TomTom it sets my clock back one hour... this is not something that I can make my brain tell me it's an hour difference - especially when doing a several hour trip and I feel like i'm an hour late! any ideas?

[NO ROOT][DEV] IncredibleTorch

I've been working on a flashlight app for non-rooted phones. I have been able to recreate the one that costs $0.99 (I think? I'm not exactly sure, I don't own it.). Sadly, I have the same flaw. I can't get it to exit correctly, so you have to reboot. I'm still working on it, and haven't quite given up (although I think I have concluded this exploits a higher level bug that I just can't control).
6/17/10 - I think I've concluded there is no way to shut it off. I believe this is a bug in the camera software that allows this to happen. A method just hangs forever. (All of this is I think ) Sorry guys, you probably wont see anything better (w/o root).

Wow. Good job dude. I know its finicky but you usually only need the flash light to stay on. Oh well on the reboot to turn off. You'll figure it out. Really good job man.

Woo hoo, at least one person likes it! I've only gotten put down or no replies elsewhere. haha
I know this isn't fantastic or anything, but it's better than nothing in my eyes.
anything that helps the community is always appreciated. So ty very mucho
Yea I tried the same thing. Stuck at the exact same problem.
I am by no means an expert Android dev, but I have tons of .NET experience. I used the example in the SDK, then just added the parameters to turn on the LED when taking a picture. Then it freezes and it goes to hell from there.
I tried threading/etc. No luck, I stopped working on it. Plus now there is the root, so why not just do that and use the Lamppu Application.
Thanks for trying anyways
That's exactly where I am! takePicture just freezes after a few pictures I believe. I also tried threading, no luck.
But I don't have .NET experience, I'm just a noob.
Yeah, I know now there's root Lamppu is better, but I'm personally not rooted. I figured I'd just release it because no one else has except the guy who is trying to sell it... which is just rude lol.
werd ~!~ 10 more
thanks for trying on the app though! it just confirms that I need to get root on me phone! I dont know why ppl would bash your for contributing..fail/succeed..we all benefit. It's only from attempts that we learn how things work..im sure anyone in root dev can confirm that!

Google Skymaps Update = awesome!!!

I dont really use the app that much but i noticed that google skymaps was updated recently. upon entering the app and going into settings i noticed under other a sensor setting that has sensor speed and damping. i changed the speed to fast and have left damper as normal and i cant believe it but its SMOOTH the way it should be
dont know if anyone else was aware but just wanted to give a general heads up
This should be in Captivate Themes and Apps, but I downloaded this yesterday too and it does, in fact, kick butt.
I was afraid that because GPS is shoddy on the Captivate, it would not know where you were pointing the phone, but it does a great job! I guess it only needs a general location, then uses the compass/orientation sensors to determine what you're 'looking at'.
Mine seems to be broke
I downloaded it yesterday and tried it today... the display is jittery and jumps around. The prior version was just fine. I wonder if I can go back to it.
I love skymaps, now I don't need my 70 year old mother to tell me what is what.

It can translate some text but it is not detecting anything (Books, DVDs, Barcodes...) as seen in that promovideo with Belfiore (Video).
Btw, it seems this Mango Beta2 is different from the one MS used at Mix11 etc, because some features are missing.
I think Mango is cool but not THAT suuuper big milestone from a customers point of view. As a developer it's a lot better (APIs).
yeah i managed to get it to translate some stuff which is damn impressive!
But boo for not being able to detect anything else yet!
My guess is someone hasn't flicked the switch yet to turn it all on haha, prob still doing work on it!

I'm not having any issues with it not finding a barcode, or looking up specific things. Seem to be working fine for me.
Whether Bing vision is able to find things or lookup anything may be region specific.

Nope, it can't. The only thing about Bing Vision working flawlessly fine is text scanning.
I can't seem to get mine to work AT ALL either!!
Bing Vision for me picks up QR codes really well, but on the limited barcodes I have tried it on it has not found matches.
Sounds like it's very region specific. In the US, it's working flawlessly for me. It picks up bar codes, QR codes, it can even determine movies and music just by looking at the cover (and it's surprisingly accurate). My phone is only picking up about 20% of the text I throw at it, but it's probably because the Trophy doesn't have the best camera.
I live in indonesia and all these are useless hahaha... even local scout gives me nothing.... oh well, at least I can search my contact by company name now which is very important to me
Yep seems to be region specific. From settings /region+language change "Browser & Search Language" to English(United States) and Bing Vision works. If set to English (United Kindom) it does not.
It is working great for me! (USA) I show it a book and it finds it for me. I don't even have to scan the barcode.
Bing Visio
I cant scan any book in germany all other things works^^
