Looking to get a new bluetooth headset. Got the Jawbone ICON and volume is really low, so I'm looking for another one... Any ideas? Thanks

Seems to get the best overall reviews of any headset... Though it isn't "stylish" -.-... I prefer function over form though. Google searches + review sites generally give good overall reviews of different devices. I research EVERYTHING before I buy... If I was buying a headset, this is what I'd own.
For now though, the only time I use my phone with bluetooth is while in the car... And for that, I use the Kenwood KDC-x993 . (Now THAT, is a wonderful device )
I have a few, Blue Ant Z9, Z9i, and a Jawbone (using the jawbone now). While the Jawbone is the most aesthetically pleasing, I find it pretty damn uncomfortable. :-\ Haven't really had a problem volume wise though, and it's range is quite a bit better than the Z9's.
I have the Sennheiser mm200. They sound just as good as the cx300's in terms of sound quality. Call quality is good also.

Do you have any problem with your Z9 and your rooted N1? My N1 cannot see the Z9. Maybe I need to update the Z9 firmware?
I've been using my Moto S9 and although the quality is good I'm looking to buy a regular headset for just calls. I've seen some talk about Jawbone's Icon. For those of you that do have it how good is it?

I've read several positive reviews of the Jawbone Icon, but that's about it.
I have the Jawbone Ace. I also use myTalk as well. The only negative is that the N1 does not support voice dialing from the BT headset. I mean come on, voice commander for WinMo can do it...wtf? hehe
But I have used the Icon a few times and being a longtime Jawbone fan, I can say its worth the price. The noise assassin is actually better IMO than the prior Jawbone I have and I thought that kicked a$$. I use my plantronics 590 to stream music and answer calls too if needed.
And the other negative is the lack of volume control on the headset itself. The only way to adjust it is on the phone, which is odd, but he technology methods change every day.
OT: Any comments on my custom signature logo? LOL

I'm a bit disappointed in the face that it doesn't have a volume rocker ... Does it display the battery meter on the N1 or is that just for the iPhone?
The batt icon is only for iPhone
i have the Plantronics Discovery 975 and i LOVE it. its loud, comfortable, great charge, and it has an awesome case wich has a battery in it for on the go charging which is awesome for me.

Great. Now I want one.
I have two my main one is a plantronics voyager pro which i absolutly love, and when it dies i have some jabra one.
I have motorola h17 and works great with n1 and the good is that h17 is not always on with the phone only when you need it ....
I have had zero issues with my Icon. I've used it in the car and turned the volume up pretty loud on the radio while talking and didn't have any issues, and neither did the person I was talking to...
The Icon is much much better than all prior Jawbones...
I'm not sure why you're having an issue with the volume? Maybe try different ear pieces to make it fit better so the sound will enter your ear better?
motorola H 790 crystal talk
stereo bt headset
I've had my ht820 for about 3 years. Still working great with every phone I've had, from win-mo to android. Calls come in clear, and you can be heard pretty well, even outside, although the wind does bother at times, but that should be true of most headsets.
After an hour or so the back of your ear starts to bother. Other than that they work pretty well. I usually use it for excercise or around the house (when its not connected to the laptop or ps3)
I have the Motorola S9 and Jabra BT620s... and both work brilliantly with the N1... no connection issues... full A2DP audio streaming... clear in-call voice... Though I like the S9 better since it's easier to carry and is sweat-proof!
Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys use a bluetooth stereo headset for your G2's because I've been looking for a certain kind. I'm looking for one that is wireless(duh) and it connected by the buds with a wire that's small and similar to the one that came with our phones. So pretty much our stock headphones, just without the cord connecting to the phone. I saw one the other day on a website but I can't find it at all.
Thanks for your time

I have had great success with Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 and they can be had fairly cheaply. While mine are 1+ years old, Plantronics offers an updated BackBeat 903+. Altec Lansing is owned by Plantronics or vice versa.

I second that recommendation. Those are great headphones especially for working out. If you don't really need bluetooth I've gone to the zagg smartbuds after getting tired of charging my backbeats and my phone from constant Bluetooth use. These just stay around my neck all day and offer everything the backbeats do, just not wireless and better sound quality.
I'm waiting on Bluetooth 3.0 to really make Bluetooth headphones really take off, with better performance overall (sound quality, outdoor performance, and 3.0 is a higher number than 2.1 duh). Have trouble at times outdoors (nothing to bounce off of). So my recommendation is the backbeats or the Cardozo s2's I believe if you aren't married to that form factor.

dont get the zagg smartbuds.... they are a ripoff. just like the rest of their products.
the best buds under $100 are the klipsch image s4's
I use Motorola s305
Got em off of amazon for less that $35 and they are very nice...

I actually use a Sony Bluetooth unit that has a standard 1/8" jack and plug my Shure's into that. The little controllers are hard to find now as everyone seems to want to bundle their earphones in with them.

I just found this and it looks really nice, not so sure about the clip though, but I can adapt. It meets the requirements I was looking for. The bluetooth is actually in the small device and the headphones are interchangeable with any one with a 3.5mm jack. I hope that it would come with its own set of headphones because they look really short and that's what I'm looking for. I don't want the hassle of having to untangle headphones after every usage, so I think this might be what I'm looking for. Has anybody else tried this before? I also wonder if it's completely compatible with Android.

These are the MW600 that Wolek76 is talking about in his post above. They are known to work with the Desire Z though some functionality like trackId is not working. I should be getting these for my Desire Z today/tomorrow.
I have been to frys electronics and best buy, and have bought every single one they offer at least once.
Ive tryed at least 20+ and every single one cuts off very often if I am jogging and the phone is in my side pocket.
If anyone has any suggestions be my guest and lmk please haha. Maybe something that makes you hold your phone higher or closer to your ears so the bluetooth connection doesnt break so often.

Yes these are the MW600 which wolek76 recommends, and so do I. Been using them with my Nexus One and now Galaxy S, and love them. The ear buds are very comfortable and have great sound quality, and if you still dont like em you can use any 3.5mm headphones with the unit. You can save 3 devices to use the Bluetooth with (either phone OR your BT-enabled laptop), and switch between them with press of a button. Good battery life and and the controls work with alternative Android music applications like Poweramp as well as Google Listen.
The unit did get stuck on me 3-4 times during my 6-7 months of use, by stuck I mean nothing works and you have to wait till the battery drains and it shuts itself off lol. Its ridiculous that this thing doesnt have a Reset button.
Highly recommend this headset, and cant wait to start using it with my G2 when it arrives next week.

hello everyone
just thought I'd put a link to another thread (used to be Desire Z only, before the merge), but thats where I've left the most information about this bluetooth stuff

Another happy MW600 user
Hi all,
Just wanted to second wolek76's recommendation for the MW600. I've been using them with my Desire Z.
The performance of the bluetooth headset is excellent - especially you you replace the supplied earphones with your own favourites (Denon AH-751s for me )
Only downsides:
No contact name on display (though the callers phone number is displayed)
No track name on display
Other than that they are excellent.
Cheers
Ash

Have you guys used the headphones that came with the bluetooth set? Is the quality of it good, or does it not come with short corded headphones?
Merry xmass everyone
Yes, these come with in-ear buds with three different rubber sizes. Headphones themselves are on a short lead and asymmetric (so that the cable for one ear is shorter, and the other one goes behind the neck)
As someone mentioned earlier, these are removable, so you can use any earfones u wish.
Quality of sound is fine for me, although I'm no expert on that matter....

How would you say the headphones that come with the mw600 compare to the one that comes with the desire z? Better?
Definately better!!!
Original htc ones dont stay in my ears whatsoever. Maybe I got weird ears but never managed to to get any htc earphones make stay in my ears (s740, touchpro2, DZ).
the SE ones actually go 'into' your ear blocking any external noise. Im very happy with that solution, but I know it isnt to everybodys taste/preference.
btw. I got MW600 for my sister...
she's got SE X10 and wanted a FM radio....
will check if these work any better with Android on SE fone (track ID, caller ID)
merry x-mass
Well, even though mw600 and X10 are made by same manufacturer, there is still no caller ID, and no track ID.
This must be definitely android issue then.
Just hope that ginger update with its new 'BlueZ' will help, when it finally lands in our Desires...
Fingers crossed

Whatever you do don't get the Sony V110. Battery life is abysmal and often when I use it the person I'm talking to complains they can hear themselves (bluetooth mic is picking up what they say).
I personally have the Blue Ant X5 stereo headphones... They're too awesome. Fantastic battery life, superb sound quality, right ear controls for volume, pause, answer, and next/previous track, and a usb Mic dongle if you're also gonna use it for calls. Found on occasion on ebay for $30-$50 when you're lucky, package include the headset, dongle, 2 batteries, and a bluetooth stereo adapter for sound systems etc.
netimes.com has a lot and their very high quality and very cheap also so you could order about 3 so you can try them out and fing the one that you like the most but they are from china
oh btw.... while riding a motorcycle, fits perfect with the helmet too
Nice.. thanks for the responses. I'll probably pick one of these up in the next month or two off amazon with those valued opinions gift cards ( I'm cheap haha)

I have the same. I love them. Been using them for a year. I get two days of 9 hour listening before I have to charge.
Since someone brought it up... Parrot SK4000 is awesome if you are riding a motorcycle...
i highly recommend the Jawbone icone headset, its perfect and has great battery life and also work well with all phones even this one
I just pciked up a Morotola HK210, and it's been great for me so far.
The thing that drew me to it was its size (smallest at the store I was at), as well as the fact that its color matches the Inspire.
Syncing was painless, call quality is well, about what I'd expect from a bluetooth headset.
I haven't had it for very long though, so I can't say much more about it.
Jawbone + custom earpiece = awesome
I use the Jawbone Era (sounds great with the phone and absolutely no static). To hold it in place, I had a custom fit earpiece made at Avery Sound. They send a mold you place in the appropriate ear, you send it back to them and in a week or two you get a rubber earpiece custom fitted to your ear and your Bluetooth device.
Yes, it is pricey - it runs about $80 for the earpiece. But I need nothing else - this just stays put in my ear and it is hands-down the most comfortable headset I have ever owned. I have been to the gym a number of times with it, and no issues whatsoever. Plus, with the sound directed into your ear canal better than the stock earpiece, I hear much better with this.

Jawbone icon headset.. its real awesome i highly recommend it
jawbone. only way to fly.
I would be careful though as the inspire has iffey bluetooth performance. Many times putting the phone in your pocket can make the audio break up. Had it happen on 4 different inspires on more headsets than I care to think about. I can even make it break up if I hold the phone in front of me and cover the side cover where the volume rocker is. The point being, dont go out and spend a ton of cash only to be disappointed in the performance. I use my bluetooth every day with a jvc head unit in the car, but it was unusable with the headset as I always put my phone in my pocket
so im not the only one who things the bluetooth on this phone is oddly bad... I thought it was just my imagination
I recently got a Jawbone Icon Thinker and like it so far. It is shorter than the older models and fits securely in my ear. The battery life isn't the best but it works well for me.
I've got several bluetooth headsets (I keep losing them and buying a new one and then finding them again). Here are three I can find right now and one I have no idea where it is:
Samsung WEP 870 - This is a really good performer. It seems to have optimal range, sounds good, has A2DP and the volume rocker has both up and down. Micro SD charging slot so you don't have to use a special charger.
Samsung HM 1000. This is a decent performer, the range doesn't seem as good as it might be but it's reasonable. The volume rocker has both up and down. Micro SD charging slot. It does NOT have A2DP so it's my "backup" for just phone calls.
Jabra Extreme2. This is a great performer. It has optimal range, sounds great, has A2DP and a volume rocker with up and down. Micro SD charging slot. Right now this is my favorite.
Plantronics Savor M1100. I can't find this one right now<G>. A nice unit, has reasonable range, sounds good, has A2DP and a micro SD charging slot. However, the volume rocker only goes one direction so you have to go by increments to the maximum level then to the lowest level to change it. It does have a pretty good voice command recognition feature.
All of these have various "voice command" or other features that I never use. The Savor voice command feature was particularly easy to use though, it had to be to get me to use that feature.
As far as staying in your ear goes, I find that's more dependent on the form of the gel that goes into your ear. I like the ones with a loop above and below the ear, they fit in well and don't make the ear hurt so much if you wear it for a long time (if you get a good fit). One of these (I think the Jabra) had one that was kind of a "hook shape" on the top of the gel and that worked best of all.
My plantronics headset constantly drops out since the GB update.
I know most here root but can anyone point me to a headset that works properly
with this phone and the stock rom.. Have asked the question elsewhere but cant get an answer.. VZW says known problem w/ fix coming but reps never seem to have accurate info. Thanks
should I take the lack of response to indicate no one has a bt earpiece they are happy with ?
I'm quite happy with my Jawbone Era. Never had any issues with it. It's crystal clear and nice and loud, and I've never had it drop connection unless I went out of range.
BlueAnt headsets have always been the best for me. Tried Jawbones and they sounded tinny and weird. Never have a problem syncing with my Charge.
Blue parrot. 18 hrs talk time. Been using it for years. Just bigger than most. But clarity and volume is unbeatable.

im VERY happy with my Motorola S305. Got it from a Vzw.com firesale for $25 like they do every year around christmas. it's a Stereo wrap-around style which lets you listen to music or talk while you jog/walk the dog/work in the yard etc. Good size, battery life is killer even after 2 years, good controls, good sound, pairs reliabily with SCH-510 and others..

I have to agree.
appreciate the feedback
I liked my Jawbone Era until one of our dogs decided it was a chew toy.
My Plantronics was nice, but it fell apart pretty fast.
Now I have the Motorola HX550 and it has been fantastic. Very comfortable, easy to turn on and off, and the sound quality is great.
Rocketfish RF-MAB2
I've had excellent luck with the BestBuy Rocketfish RF-MAB2 stereo headset. Solid phone calls, and pretty darn good music playback. I've used it with the Charge on every ROM I've tried, including stock.
YEZZIR
+1 for the Jawbone Era. Thing is absolutely brilliant, plus its got multi-point or whatever so it links to multiple things.
I'm looking for a new bluetooth earpiece and a few people have recommended the Jawbone Era. While browsing through their site I also came across the Jawbone Icon HD. Does anyone out there have any experience with them and the call quality? Are they overly large or uncomfortable?
Yep, I have the Jawbone Icon HD. Simple answer.... Best BT earpiece I have ever bought or used ( and I have had about a dozen). Ditch the over the ear wire thingy and buy an UMBO tapered rubber earpiece... http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Headphones-/112529/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=Umbo&LH_PrefLoc=2 and you'll be good to go.
YMMV, but I am very happy with it and use it exclusively.
I had one of the first jawbone and thought it was brilliant. I recently got the latest one (whichever is the bigger one between icon and era) and it was crap. Sound for me was spot on but everyone I spoke to reported dalek like voice.
Now on a plantronics legend that is much better and to be honest is a nicer fit for my ear, although that's obviously a more personal thing.
