[SKIN][Update 26 Jan 10] Morphgear Multitouch Portrait SNES Pad - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Note: This is only a mod of Hojlind's original multitouch WVGA screen gamepad. All credit should therefore go to him!
I've just been mucking about basically and quite enjoying making a nice looking screen pad that works really well.
To fit everything in the buttons are relatively small I suppose but I can get by ok on Super Mario World, Super Punch-Out, Final Fight 3 etc.
Once you have copied in the files to the skins folder on Morphgear, use wvga snes portrait pad.
I think it looks cool, hope you enjoy it too!
Update: 26 Jan 2010
Slightly tweaked pad to hopefully improve multi-touch bug with 'A' button.
Update: 22 Jan 2010
Added 'L' & 'R' buttons

Yeah the buttons are a little on the small side, really wanted to fit that graphic in though! Let me know how you got on!
Haha, yes I had left them out, though they're actually still mapped in the top left and right corners, might re-do a version with them in later

It's a skin for the games emulator called Morphgear, specifically the SNES emulator part of it.
If you head over to Hojlind's original thread it has really good instructions along with download links so you can get the emulator up running with a working multitouch gamepad skin.

Looks incredible, i'll give it a spin and hope multitouch is responsive!

The L and R buttons is really implemented nice
Unfortunately i haven't been able to test the skin, as my HD2 is currently being repaired for connection problems I hope to get it back within a week but we will see

Baaaamm
This looks awesome, its really a joy to see that the skins are getting better and better with every new release!!!
Thanks for ur effort!

Tried the skin, works great, the buttons seem slightly small (fat fingers...) but a very good looking, functional skin. Thanks for your effort with this.

multi touch doesn't work that great to be honest.
I'm playing Chrono Trigger and pressing the d-pad while pressing A doesn't always respond, however pressing the d-pad plus B to make the character run works fine.
It's probably a small bug or something.
I tried other MT controllers posted here and they all work flawlessly, except this one.

Have you tried my original controller? I am trying to figure out what it is that makes some skins better than others, and would like to get a little feedback

With this skin as with other I can't manage to get a proper image/pad ratio.
It works fine with the default skin (which I don't really like), but with every other one I have a very small game window and almost all of my screen is occupied by the left part of the controller (can't see the right part).
I'm using a Samsung Omnia/Player Addict with WM6.1

is the morphgear read the skin by color code, and your skin use very solid color for each button and white background that make it reads extractly and easier?!

That was my primary thought too But considering that Hexjibber is using my exact gamepad, but with another skin at the top, is what makes it interesting... I do not believe that the skin you see when playing, have anything to do with how good it works, but if this skin is working worse than mine, then I have no idea why, considering that the only thing changed is the layout you see when playing...

I was wondering the same thing I didn't think changing the part of the skin you see would make any difference? I've been using my mod for a few days now and I haven't come across any problems so far, perhaps it's dependent on the game?

Changing the Basic Default Green Colours on menus

Hi,
I am about to embark upon changing the menu icons and screen touches that leave the green behind. Before I do I wanted to see if anyone had already successfully changed this FULLY rather than on just one screen and also one that works on the topaz. Any I have found so far either do not work or do a partial job.
Obviously if someone has done it already I would be keen to ive their work a try as this will be my first modding task and admittedly think I am starting at the deep end.
Also any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. If my work is succesful I will of course attempt to upload it for others to use
Thanks
CFC GUI is your friend, you can extract and replace all the graphics using it.
Which one(s) have you found that worked partially?
I have spent hours trawling through the various forums to find snippets from here and there, but in all honesty I'm a bit lost.
I found a 'T-Mobile' file which looks nice, but I have yet to try it on the device (because it hasn't arrived yet )
I will definitely be wanting to change away from green, so if/when you figure it out then please do let us (me) know how. Blue or grey is my target.
Here you go, green to blue with the attached CAB.
[UPDATE]
Changed all non-TF3D green highlighting/switches/buttons to blue also!
Due to CAB size, I've put it on my RapidShare account, no need to wait for download as it's been made a TrafficShare download.
Have left original version available for download for those who only want TF3D modified.

TD2 Green to Blue v2.cab (6114.0 KB, Unlimited views)
Enjoy!
Fantastic! Thanks hoosbude.
Sadly my device didn't arrive today as expected, so I'm still waiting. However, I shall look forward to trying your CAB and seeing what type of 'blue' you've provided.
Can you explain how you did it? What tool(s) did you use, and is it easy to do? Mostly I'm quite happy with TF3D, but I'd like to learn how to mess with the colours a little.
Yes, I have read and searched, and I got as far as finding Max TF3D Theme Maker - it looks a bit too much for what I need. Is this the way to go, or is there a simpler solution?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the cab. I will give it a try. admittedly I put the project on hold due to a cosmetic issue my phone picked up similar to this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=522813
So my motivation to start any projects will be gone until I either get a replacement or repair. Hopefully your cab will do the trick

I used CFC GUI to extract the graphics then used Photoshop to change the hue, then used CFC GUI to re-implant the graphics to the original format then made the CAB. It took me about 40mins to do from start to finish (I did alter 47 files! also I made the boot picture blue too as a bonus!!)
Cab appears to work great only thing i have noticed that is not blended into the blue touch colour scheme is the communications tab of the settings menu which still has the green slide bars. If you fancy changing that it would be perfect.
To answer the question somebody asked earlier about other similar things i tried there is one made by lexirae (cant find the link now) that removes the touch coloured panel on the front screen with a transparent touch, There was also one made for the globe but think it was for a cooked rom as it made my opera browser inoperable and a hard reset was needed.

Yeah I noticed that also, the graphics for that were not shown by CFC GUI so that's why they were missed!
If anyone knows which files they are in I'd be much obliged (although I will google it later when I have the time)
Think the file you are looking for is 471b0a55_manilla
It is labelled in CFC-GUI under settings SWITCH_ON
If I am incorrect and you have already looked at this then apologies

hoosbude, I worship you...
My TD2 arrived today and I'm loving it - for a device so seemingly similar to my Xperia, the Xperience is completely transformed...slick, quick and much more user friendly.
I love what you've done with the blue highlighting, which really sets everything off nicely (well, nearly everything - there's still the odd rogue greenie around such as the HTC task manager highlights, but I'll live with that).
Thanks so much, you don't know how much happier this makes me with my new toy.

Yes, thanks. I discovered that by accident (I installed my old Xperia black theme, but then needed to delete it so I changed to HTC black in preparation and noticed that this worked as well so I don't need my Xperia them at all).
Looking good.
Really a great job !!!
I install your cab and my phone is very nice now, thanxxxxxxxxxxxxx !!!
The last "green touch", in my phone is on the screen where it ask for sim code (just after booting)... The "enter" case is still green... Could you do anything for that ?
If needed I can send you a picture of the screen, but, for the moment, I haven't any camera in my desk do that !
is there a lightgray version of this?

Android 3D icon tabs (sooner or later)

So the last few days I have been playing with a 3D program. I'm not the best that is for sure but I have ideas that I can sometimes get into the computer properly. I'm more of a true pencil and paper kind of guy. I really need to get a tablet so I can start doing something better in Photoshop. Just can't use a mouse to save my life to draw......Anyway I'll stop my rambling. I was wondering if anybody wanted the use of some 3D Android models. They can be plugged into photoshop for full 360° viewing. You should also be able to move his arms/legs/head if you want to go that far.
I posted some pictures of tabs that I have made with an earlier model in the "Post Your Today screen" thread. But I have since made a new model that is a bit cleaner.

Some of the tabs I made with the earlier model.I also have some of the objects that I made.Just to give you an idea what can be done with them. I also believe I can do some animation with them with another program,I haven't checked on it yet but it should be do able.

I'm not really into skinning right now. I'm waiting for MaxSense to really get into doing a theme. That is why I started making these but if somebody else wants to possible use them for something I'm game and can send the files to you. Just PM if you would like to use them.
Haha, pretty interesting take on the Android.
Yeah these are really nice, great job! You should look into releasing a slider set, Im sure you would get a lot of takers
The one thing I need to look into now that I have a good model I like, is the animating. I'm thinking something like..............
An unlock screen with the droid pushing the slider when you swipe it. Have his legs fully animated. maybe have him switch from pushing with his hand to his should or back. This way if you only swipe half way it looks like it's pushing him back when it returns to center or what ever?
I really don't know how involved that one would be but it would be cool.
like i said in the leo screen thread very nice and please release a slider set
and pleeeeease share your awesome clockbackground ....
i really want this!!!
...
Ya if I release a slider it will not be anytime soon. I just really don't want to make that many different models then have to put them into manila pages. I have started but as usual I'm never satisfied enough and will change it after a day or so. Since making the new model I will have to fully redo the ones I have done. Granted I have most other the object models so it will be easier then the first time bit I will still have to redo some of those now that I have more of a grasp on the 3D program.
The clock bezel might happen but that is one of the reasons I wanted the 3D program. I wanted to redo do it in a true 3D appearance so it's either the tabs come first or I drop them and start the bezel, lol.
he nice work looking real cool ( I really like the ereader tab ) keep on going .
that is awesome!!!! lol... please make this available!!! also, if its not too much to ask, can you post your wallpaper up for us to grab? thanks!!!! by the way, i think your 3d rendering looks great!!!
I told you boss...
There would be people to appreciate your work if you posted over here.

Looks good as usual.

BRAVO!
GOOOOOOOD Job!
What program are you using?! I would like to make my own Android sliders
It's a program from Nvidia called 3dvia it's free to use but it is an online program that is html based. It's pretty easy but yet annoying at the same time. Some things have to be thought out because of how you produce some shapes.
Here is another picture of the model from different view angles and different colors.
Finally made some hands that I could stand for then a few seconds.
I guess I could have resized it a bit.lol

[CHT2] The Ultimate Geek Redesign [UPD: DEC 10]

Introduction
Ok, so some of you may have seen my first clocks I've every made - know as the geek clocks. I would like to explain myself then continue this beautiful idea I have.
As many of you know, as soon as you take out your HD2 people awe over it's size but always end up asking - is that an iPhone? Then a conversation opens, and they say - so why wouldn't you just get an iPhone? Valid question for people who don't actually know how to use a cellphone. But we then show them how much better our cell really is. But truthfully, no one cares about specs - they care about looks. It's like at a bar: you don't go over to the nicest girl, you go over to the hottest girl.
So therefore, I would like to introduce to you the new Ultimate Geek Redesign! The idea is to have a funny, geeky, spiffy way to show off our cellphones just from our homescreen. I call this a redesign and not a theme is because I plan on making it a continual work in progress, as well as having multiple clocks/locks/softkeys/etc. so you can pick whatever you want without me picking your theme for you.
I am currently a beginner at all this jazz and the only thing I know how to use is photoshop. My cabs probably aren't made perfectly (although they work - I proved that on my cell) and I don't understand the coding at all... although I am currently trying to learn. Although, now that I think about it, that means my stuff's probably better for you - you know, "beginner's luck"
I will be constantly adding widgets to here (I've been working for 2 days and see how far I've gone already) so check back often.
If you have any ideas to build on what I have or new designing projects, or can help me with the programming bit, please pm me or reply to me here!
Now for the REDESIGNING!
Table of Contents:
CamoLock - The Invisible Lock Screen
InvisibleLock - I don't exist
No Entry - Do not enter! lock
The Ultimate Geek Clock - we just wanna show off
Digi-Geek Clock - For Those Digitalized Geeks
Binary Clock - It's Time to Work with Powers (pun intended)
The CamoLock- The invisible (camouflaged) lock screen
Who wants to be able to see there lock button - just just takes up room and looks, well, not so nice This is for cht's lockscreen - windows style! (When you hold it down it turns normal again - then let go and it disappears... magic!)

NEW!!! Invisible Lock
No screen shot for this - its actually invisible, only pressing on it makes it visible again!
No Entry Lock Screen
We don't anyone touching or messing around with our cell - it's time to share that!
The Ultimate Geek Clock
Link to its page is here.
Digi-Geek Clock (same link as before) [please use 24 clocks people - that's what geeks are for )
Softkeys in the pictures above (they are minimal to leave our beautiful screen more room!)
Binary Clock - the ultimate geek way to tell time without anyone every knowing!
(The time is 1:56 - I hope you could tell)
By they way, this is only for 24 hour clocks - because, of course, we are geeks!
Works in progress:
Backgrounds (although more ideas would be nice!)
Locks
Email/Messages Skins
More Softkeys
Ideas for anything would be greatly appreciated, and again, anyone who can help with the programming lua and mode9 or whatever that stuff is would be amazing!

Just as a quick guess, it's because you don't have the CHT lockscreen set or it's not set to windows style... in any case after you install you have to restart sense - but I actually currently have it installed on mine so it is possible - I would put up a screen shot but I feel like that might be a waste of room
In any case check your settings then get back to me
good luck

Well any ideas for a clock? Digital or Analog? And as far as softkeys?
It's been a while since I've seen farscape (last time was in highschool) so my knowledge of it is small at best, but I did like it. Maybe I can give some a go if we get some concrete ideas going.

Hey mrhayami! Yeah I was 19 when the came out. Am 30 now, but have been watching Farscape via netflix. Anyway, I was thinking maybe using the Moya communicator thing as maybe a sms widgit or analog clock. Some kind of wait cursor or any ideas you may have. Nordpolcamper has already made a few things for me. I also have a Farscape font but dont know hot to cab it up so the whole phone is Farscape font. Anyway, any ideas you may would be great!
Here is screen shot with the different toggles and slider that Nordpolcamper made, not all are shown.

I have seen threads on how to do it but I can honestly say I dont fully understand how to do it , nor do I have the programs to do so. I really hope someone knows how and doesnt mind cabbing it up for me.
Anyway I will post a few links to show what i am talking about along with the font file.

Thanks in advance !
I'll see if I can help any I'm just finishing up a project with rat, should be done soon.
Thanks
AWESOME! I really appreciate it.
I've created a clock out of the picture posted above in post #6.
With a couple of suggestions from darkwolfelite, I've made the hour/minute hands into Qualta Blades and it's now ready for release (cab file attached).
If you have any suggestions/criticisms, please feel free to do so - this is my first clock and first mod of any kind so all comments are welcome!
Enjoy!
Ive just made a cab for the font that darkwolfelite posted.
Im just about to test it and see what happens.........
**20 mins later.......**
ok...........
@ darkwolfelite, in response to the points you mentioned yesterday.
Ive got all the fonts within sense changed + 80% of the default Winmo menus.
The "Start" text is controlled by a .dll which is not something Ive ever tinkered with and can be notoriously difficult to get working.
Im working on getting the WM softkeys to appear in the farscape font.
The best part is......... the cab is uninstalling so no need for a hard reset.
Im gonna have a few more attempts at acheiving "total coverage"......
Ok, this is what Ive got so far. Softkeys arent happening and I dont know why. Still looking for the right reg entry I guess.
Quite a lot of the phone is covered, all sense menus, many wm menus, some apps.
The downside, the font is quite small and some things can be difficult to read.
Its possible to adjust font sizes using a registry editor.
Go to the root of the registry and search for "font".
Flick through all instances looking for entries relating to font size and adjust as required.
Cab attached. Will continue looking into this in the quest for "total coverage"....
Now I am watching Farscape season2 episode 4
Thank you.
Hey conantroutman thanks for everything you are doing! I appreciate it alot! As far as the font being to small, I have the sk tools so I think I can change the font size with it.
And as far as the "start" word I was wondering if cabs can be broken down in reverse to like see whats in it and maybe how it was done? I don't know if that's possible but if so I have a Lucidia handwriting cab from I think sarcy (Major_Sarcasm) that I know changes the "start" but can't remember if it did WM softkeys. Either way I really like the cab and am looking forward to the "Total Coverage" but am very happy with what you've done!
BTW: Your taskbar? For 6.5 or 6.5x?

Nice! I only have one episode left Well also The Peace Keeper wars movie!
No problem, happy to help.
Post that cab and ill have a look inside. I know how to do the start button in theory but I've never actually done it.
I think the soft keys are just a matter of searching for the right reg entries.
The taskbar is tacchan's dusk taskbar and I think there is a version for both 6.5 and 6.5.x
Sent from my fingers to your face...

No problem! Side note, SK Tools didn't change the font size in Sense, but its ok I will try the Reg edit thing you mentioned.
Nice. I will look into the taskbar thanks!
P.S to all. The cab file in this post is not mine nor do I claim it to be. It is by sarcy(Major_Sarcasm) I believe.
Right, so I've been working on this clock today and I think it's gone pretty well.
The clock face is Moya and the hour/minute hands are Peacekeeper Prowlers - the only thing is the hands are rather dark against Moya.
Hope you like it
nice!

Nice clock Bunglechunk! I LIKE it! I agree with the hands being dark and also noticed the minute hand might not be connected. I will post a pic! Either way everything keeps getting better and better.

Anyone want Swype Keyboard?

Alright I think alot of us know about Swype on the droid X.
The beta is now open again, for all the android phones out there. It's realy easy to apply, and there's no wait, really, to get the swype keyboard. I myself abso-f**king-lutely LOVE it, because in landscape, the layout is a bit weird but you have a whole hell of a lot more space above the keyboard(all the better for scrolling and selecting your place in the text) plus, for me, even though i blazed on Smart Keyboard, im even faster with Swype.
You can apply for the beta here: http://beta.swype.com/
I don't know how long the beta opening will last. II were you and I wanted this keyboard, I'd go grab it ASAP. It's quite easy to install, by the way. Just make sure that your browser is in Android mode, not Desktop mode.(If it was Dolphin HD. YOu know what I mean, though, right?)
Screenshots coming soon, and will be on another post.
Here are the screenshots!

Here in a little bit I'll post one with smart keyboard pro for the screen space difference.
EDITSCroll down and I have set this up to display them side by side as if you were holding them landscape. A comparison.

yes it's a nice keyboard! I am using from 1.xxx beta's! but they should provide an option to enable/disable smiley/enter and mic button! etc...
otherwise usability at its best!

You should Update it. There's still no disable Option, but when Swyping there's really no need for it, as the space is auto entered and all that, not to mention in my version(the newest, 2.29.71.20203.t100), its not all that space hogging. The engine for it doesnt pick up speech that well on the X10. At least, that's what it's shown me so far. It gets most of it, but for example i said 'be' a few time in testing, and it spat out 'the'.
Also, in my version, there's no smiley key. I think they turned it into a long press somewhere. I'll edit the post after I check.
...Is it really that boring of an input method????
Well, I have something the devs might look at. The site says the keyboard is skin/themeable by OEM's. Not sure what that stands for, but it's interesting. It'd be cool imho to skin it like the sense white letter/saymbol keys and then the delete, enter, symbol and whatnot stay the same.
For anyone who wants it, I'll soon have a video of me using the keyboard posted.
Its been done in the past.

This is a new one though. The beta is back open. Notice, my screenshots are different.
I know its a new one lol i was just saying the skinning has been done in the past and the same templates work on the new one.
I have the newest version 2.29.71.20203.t100 with the skin in the link i posted in my previous post. Just took that skin and replaced the boring blue one with it.
Mind you my version isnt from the beta link above, although i am on the beta list, its from elsewhere with the checks removed. I just added the skin and signed it as the beta from the link wouldnt work even with just images replaced and re-signed obviously.

Ah ok. Could you show me how to do that?
First of all you need a working version (not from the beta link - obv) and secondly a skin which is in one of the XDA forums (cant remember off the top of my head), you might have to google it.
After that its a doddle and i will explain.
Once you have those or i will PM it tomorrow as its late and i have work in the morning. i will show you.
Not sure how to get those.

Does anyone know of any option to move the cursor easily between words? (Like stock keyboard magnifying kind of stuff)
Not sure what you mean.

I mean; a better way to place the cursor in the desired place (you can do that with new stock keyboard; drag in the typed words and above the keyboard another magnified bar comes up to make life easy)

I agree the keys are bigger and better, but sometimes when you swype and it misses one letter in-between, you will find it very difficult to place the cursor there to key in that missing letter.
If possible, please leave a message in the forum, and let me hope it gets implemented.
Thank you.

If i remember correctly you can swype from the "swype" button to the sym button to get the arrows.
just double-tap the incorrect word and it will give you a list of alternatives.

If I remember correctly, it takes few clicks before it shows up the arrows to move the cursor. What I was looking for is something like SE implemented in the stock keyboard (new one).

What's that? I use swype obviously, though still ive never used the stock. USed anysoftkeyboard, then better keyboard, then swiftkey, then smart keyboard pro, then swype. Almost NEVER stock.
And it is possible to double tap on the misspelled word, too.
