hi folks..but sms chat is only one? any other softwarehouse develop any sms program?
thx in advance
You want 3rd party sms software? I know that vito makes a sms program and there's another free app called smileysms. Hope this is what you needed.
yes..i want a 3rd part software..for sms because wm is horrible..but i don't like so much smschat..and isn't possible this is the only one ç___ç
I'm not sure why everyon suggests SmileySMS. I installed it, and the **** was horrible. Beyond not looking all that great (yeah, I know... which is debatable), but it was causing... yes CAUSING random soft resets from time to when I got a new SMS and tried to open it.
So yeah, damn that one for me.

is there anyway to make the trackball light up for txt messages
Yes, but it would require the creator of an sms app to make it happen.
About a week ago I found what command needs to be sent to our phone to control the trackball, but the creator of handcent or chomp would need to add that command in to their app.
I was wondering that just the other day - not so much a toggle in the system, but I was hoping someone would make an app that would utilize the trackball light. It would be cool if it would blink with a txt message.
Handcent SMS has a option for this

I see an update for handcent in the market that states it works on the hero now. Will test and report back.
UPDATE: Yeah, its a no go with this version. I thought maybe someone sent the developer the commands that would make it work. The timing seemed perfect for this scenario.
Ive been wondering the same thing. Thanks ill check out that app now. Ive had a nokia 6300 for a while and the LED's oni the side flash when i have a txt or a missed call. Id like an app that does something similar to this
Well, I have that version of Handcent installed, set the tackball to light up every 5 seconds and still no luck it doens't work

Hey flipz first of all thanks for the AMAZING work you are doing around here, I really apreciate it.
Second of all, would it be possible for you to get in contact with the developer of Handcent and tell him about this commands? Or even if I can be the messenger and let him know one way or the other? I think this would be a nice add to any Message app.
Thanks in advance!

I just sent an email to the dev with how to do it. I'll let you all know if I hear back from him/her.
Tried out the new version today, still a no go with lighting the trackball on our CDMA heros.
When I was researching the Hero prior to Sprint getting it i saw on a Youtube video that the trackball would blink for some alerts. Guess Sprint thought it was frivolous.

Yea. The option is built in and can be trigger manually. We just don't have any apps that currently use it or trigger it properly. The location of the trigger has changed slightly from the GSM Hero which is why apps that currently do support it for that phone don't work on ours.
honestly, just uninstalled handcent. I could not deal with the slowness of the scrolling plus the frequent issues with MMS downloading.
trying out sms popup along with picsay to see if this is a good workaround.
why can't everything just work and work fast!? oy!!
Hey guys,
Flipz sent me some code yesterday to tinker with. I was planning on working on this tonight. I will let you know tommorow if I actually have any luck getting it to come on in a test app.
Has anyone tried the new version of handcent? To see if the developer included the trackball suport? It was release today i think. Version 2.9.22
That sucks! The Eris's track ball pulses when i get messages of any type or phone call. I think it has to do with the carrier. But i don't know alot so don't quote that.
Just to update you guys I was working directly with the developer. He sent me 5 different test builds but couldn't get the trackball working. He seemed a bit distracted while we were talking though because I kept having to tell him stuff that I had already said. heh.
kcarpenter and I are still working on a work-around, but I haven't been able to help him out much between being out of town and now working on the kitchen.
Thanks for the update flipz!! Maybe the Eris configuration for the trackball can help?
@Daveli, maybe you are familiar enough with the phone to pull the LED directory of the Eris. Post it up here with a zip?
Hey everyone.
Does the "feature" where the sms one pressed is selected after all the other sms's are loaded, suddenly interrupting the writing, ever bother you guys?
I wonder if it's possible, as per the image below, "move out" the reply button from the menu list as a shortcut.
My programming skills lack here but I'd gladly make a reply icon if any of you geniuses would be able to do this.

I'm surprised not more people are bothered by this
Do the programmers think this is doable?

no its going to the message thread and you have to press on that box where you can type text before you can start with ur reply.. wich costs a tremendous ammount of time. *sarcastic mode*
I dont get the idea of fix behidn this?? Isnt that just moving the reply shortcut, it would still open the same messaging window loading all the messages still...?

On mine [Artemis], this goes in reply's mode [I'm in conversation's mode].

Remember you have to take the version of your language ROM. [the .dll of that topic is for ENG version].
Very good idea I think I don't want in that hole conversation mode. It is slow and it takes time.

I don't really follow what you're talking about.
I am using the latest Messaging.
Let me try to explain again.
When one presses the actual message, the conversation mode comes up and the sms's start loading. As soon as all the sms's finish loading, the message you had pressed becomes highlighted.
If you are writing meanwhile the messages are loading, as soon as the messages finish loading you won't see what you're writing anymore.
I've tried Artemis v14 and it was the same there.
I don't think there is a ROM that doesn't have this "feature", but if there is, please enlighten me.
If it's still unclear I could try to make a video, but I am sure that the latest HTC Messaging does not solve this, since I am using the latest one.
This is why I want the reply button out there. When pressing the reply button, no sms will be highlighted and you can write your text easily.
It is not a matter of being lazy, as I saw someone else mention earlier, but if you encounter this I don't know, maybe 20-30 times a day I ensure you it will get to your nerves!
Let me repeat myself, the thing bugging me is not that it doesn't go directly to the reply box, but that when the text you just pressed becomes highlighted, you don't see what you write anymore!
I have a similar problem.
When replying to a SMS, the messaging client loades all SMS you have in your contact box [and lagged the client] and when it finished, the keyboard comes over the typing SMS. So you can't see what you were writing.
But I merely remember a ROM |WinMo 6.5] where the messages are in the same mail client, just like on WinMo 6.1 [where mail and SMS where in the same messaging client].

Yeah, I don't like its design, but it works better, quicker and without lags.
It can be really usefull
Before the upgrade to Lollipop the email application would predict destinations based on emails received, even if I didn't have them in my contacts.
For instance If I received a mail from someone new called "John Doe" even if I didn't have it in my contacts. If I started a new mail and started typing in the To: "Joh... I would get a suggestion for this guy address or similar ones, including the matching contacts in my contact list.
Is there any way to retrieve this behaviour? Why has Sony/Google remove such thing? In a day to day work environment is very annoying to have to add every single person I receive emails from to my contact list.
Thanks in advance!
It is not removed. And always after a major upgrade it is best to do a factory reset.
Seriously that's the only option?
We have several cases in the office, including boss, and I'd like to keep android, but if what you say is true... sounds very unreliable for work.

Give it a try, crossing from KK to L is a major firmware upgrade. A factory reset is necessary.
My email app works great, all the functions.
It is not unreliable, it's a must, after that it will be ok.
So I recommend a clean install.
P.S.
You can try to go to Settings : Apps : All : Email - and clear data, before you follow my first advice.
Thanks for the advice, if it works for you, certainly worth a try, at lease clearing data, even if I have to configure all the accounts again )

sorry for the delay, as I had the testing mobile getting fixed. As you say it works, or so it does with a mobile recently reset to factory status.
Thanks again for your time.
Now I'm into trying to find how to make whatsapp not using the lolillpop semi-drop down notifications, just to show with the icon in the notification bar as it did in kitkat (lollipop changed many things indeed).

About the notification, try a third party app from PlayStore.

It's really the new "heads-up" notification method in lollipop, that is mandatory with no way to disable it unless you use a modded solution.
Problem is our phone has little modding yet. Will keep an eye for options.
Hey all - been working on this off and on for a while but I've finally got it in a place where it works to how I envisioned it so I'm super excited to share it with you all!
These days people expect instant replies to their instant messages & it's not always possible to oblige.
Texting & driving is dangerous, your boss probably isn't keen on your messaging at work, you might be in a meeting, you might have left your phone to go workout.. Fortunately, in any given situation, Can't Talk will respond for you.
Let people know you're busy, you're driving, you're in a meeting, you'll get back to them later.. You set the message, you set who & via which apps to respond to & Can't Talk does the rest.
It's "out of office" but not just limited to email. Whatsapp, Slack, SMS, missed calls, Telegram, Hangouts, Allo.. any app that let's you send a quick reply via it's notification - Can't Talk can respond to.
Features of note:
- You can auto reply to sms & missed calls as well as app notifications
- You can specify which apps can be replied to
- You can specific which contacts can be auto-replied to (this includes across apps like Whatsapp etc..)
- You get to specify the message that gets sent.
Features of note to come:
- Multiple profiles - so you can create a "work profile" or a "home profile" or a "driving profile" with specific responses/settings
- Contextual Switching - the ability to automatically turn profiles on & off depending on whether you're driving, in the office, at home etc..
- Contact specific responses
At this stage I'd really love your feedback on the app so far (this is a beta so there may be bugs) & more specifically what more would you want from an app like this?
Any and all feedback/suggestions would be hugely appreciated!
Beta on the Play Store here
Huge update now on the Play Store
Added support for messaging apps such as Whatsapp, Hangouts etc..
Fixed a number of bugs
Added support for contact specific replies
Would love ANY feedback on the app! Happy Friday everyone!!
New update will be on the Play Store shortly, lots of bug fixes & a much tidier UI ??
Nice app but second reply time is 12 min after the first reply to the same person that not good. it should be the frequent reply. or is it work without the internet?

Thanks for the feedback! Was it a reply to the same message, & which app was it replying too (whatsapp, sms, etc)? There is a setting under Advanced Settings to change the reply frequency, it defaults to 15 minutes meaning it'll auto reply to any NEW messages you receive from the same contact or app after 15 minutes.
If you have a better idea about how reply frequency should work I'm all ears Maybe people want the option to reply to 1 contact 1 time ever, until the app is switched off?
New beta is up! Ton of bug fixes, some layout improvements.. Feedback as always is encourage
Messenger?
Does this (can this) work with Facebook Messenger?
Finally an extremely useful app thank you...

Interesting application buddy. Love the opening animations.
One thing I found annoying, is that for almost anything I changed, there was no "Save" button. Thus I had to first click "Back" arrow and then a prompt would ask if I want to save or discard. Could have used only a single click if there was a "Save" button.
Also, there needs to be some modification for the secondary text field, e.g. Apps Secondary or Advanced Secondary.

Hi
This looks a very interesting app but I don't seem to be able to download it. There is no Install button on the app page.
Sounds nice, gonna give it a whirl
I joined the beta program through the app in the store instead of the link in the op, is it ok? Since that was a browser redirect and sign in page, so i just took a shortcut.

That's an excellent point - tbh the app actually left beta yesterday & I'd actually forgot to remove that caption from the OP ?
However since it was mentioned in the Portal post more people have downloaded & I'm guessing that's a big part of the reason so I'll honour that commitment.
Let's say.. anyone who's commented on the thread or liked the OP I'll send a promo code to. Anyone left hanging in 2 weeks (when the trial expires) will hopefully email me & they'll get one too. Unless anyone has a better way to go about it? ?

Tbh mate I've not looked at RAM usage at all seeing as the app does nothing in the background whatsoever - until you receive a notification/SMS etc.. although judging by my other app ReadItToMe that sounds about right.
I'll do some testing but unless it's causing you an issue I wouldn't worry
