Apps need to be developed with multi-touch ability. You can't retro-fit it as everything uses default windows methods for detecting touch. To detect multi-touch requires you to detect a second touch in a completely different way, so applications would need a recode in order to do this.
All you can do is add pinch-to-zoom, but only the "system" style, not embedded in the app, like Opera for example.

I read that Windows Mobile 6.6 will bring real multitouch and it will come next month

the multitouch function is a bit confusing. if i use one finger and put the another finger down, the software don't recognise the other finger, only if i put both finger down at once.
i hope it is a software problem not a hardware problem....

Yes, it is just a driver Problem

"just"....

i've heard of that, too. but in order to support real multitouch, i guess the apps have to be coded to do so. that means that apps which don't do multitouch at the moment won't do it with wm 6.6 too.

Supporting Multitouch is the same Problem like MultiCPU: Apps must be coded for it.
But I think it will get more easily hacking in Multitouch in several apps if wm6.6 supports it natively

Dude, fantastic work with the DLL! But I'm having some problems
I did the reg-fix as specified, but I'm not quite sure about the keyname ("yourapp"). Does this need to be anything special, or is it only the name of the exe that is important?
I suspect that is the problem, since it doesn't register any touches whatsoever

Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\TouchGL\Pinch\WhiteList\Whatever]
"ProcName"="YouAppProcessName.exe"
that should be logical
I hope you have softreseted your device afterwards? and the ProcessName is right and all other steps are like in the tutorial?!

Yeah, and doublechecked, and softreset again....
I noticed though that in your readme.txt, you write
myMultiTouch.CatchWndProc(this);
Although in the version I downloaded (today from your site) accepts only
myMultiTouch.CatchWndProc(Form, PositionFixX, PositionFixY);
I've basically copy/pasted your example, and try adding breakpoints, or populating labels, but nothing happens...

The fixes can be 0 for testing, they should be optional :/
You use the HD2?
Post all you code you have written for it please and continue in that thread please:

Do you have any alternatives for these programs?

Its author says that copy/paste in wm6 will work in version 4, I've try it and it is not working, so I have to wait for version 4.
I've tried SmartToolKit but it is changing all menu and I find it little confusing.
Thanks for answers!
I really liked SmartToolKit but does it support S730 LANDSCAPE mode?

hi there....probably u r using the latest version of Smart Toolkit. the rc09 version i mean. my advice is use rc08version. its quite stable and nice. u dont get the global skinning options though. otherwise its damn good. i frankly never use my phone without smart toolkit.....its got a hibernate and taskbar option too which are pretty handy.
and yes if u use rc08 it will work in s730 landscape mode

Using cracked software is a calculated risk according to me. Since cyber laws are not very strict in many countries, people get away with it. However, when free alternatives are available, why not make full use of them.
Smarttoolkit is an awesome software. just play around with it for a day or two, and you will easily get the hang of it. Also, its inbuilt task manager, cut-paste,profile manager, plugin manager, windows like start menu, set it apart. Its almost like having a new OS. I'd personally recommend downloading rco8 since rc09 has some bugs. I don't know if they have fixed it or not.
For changing appearances, you get various softwares like chome configurator(which gives the sliding panel look), and various themes free of cost.
search this forum. I am sure you will find free and in almost all cases, better alternatives for your needs.
Cheers,
Akshay

Actually its a compatibility issue. some times the device hangs and have to reboot. I also used rc08 back then. and also it was reported by most chefs back then. But may be its conflicting with certain software.
BTW I think smart toolkit is dead. its nearly one year since RC09

i have to agree with u man. but i think the conflict is not with smart toolkit but with photocontacts pro. if im not mistaken, u too run it on ur vox right?
still the functionality with photocontacts pro is so great that i run it, despite my phone losing ram and/ or hanging once in 3 days!
i am running fireburned lite rom now. find that it drains battery quite significantly. how is the mona lisa rom compared to this in terms of stability and battery use? can u get back regarding this?

Need info to make my own Custom ROMs for X7510

Hi people,
I come from the other side of the fence "Palm"
I just upgraded to the X7510, sweet piece of hardware and beautiful 5" display
So i'm very familiar in the Palm Treo world on customizing my own ROMs.
After reading & searching A LOT in here and other PPC forums, i still have a few utilities i can't seem to find.
So i read there is also a BootLoader screen in the PPC world, very typical of the HTC devices, makes custom ROMing very simple.
However, i still haven't come across the name of the applications you guys use to Dump (backup) the current ROM, and the Upload the new ROM into the device.
Or it seems like the only way is via ActiveSync 4.5 ?
Another doubt i have is about the Unlocked part.
My device is straight from HTC unlocked, does it mean it is fully SIM and CID unlocked, or it's only SIM unlocked?
By that i want to figure out if i need to run the CID unlock before doing the Custom ROMs etc.
And last but not least...
I'd like to contribute with the 7510 ROM original dump, seems like the Wiki doesn't have it yet,
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Athena_Upgrades
so i'll probably need the same whatever tool you guys use, as asked in my first question, to backup the old ROM.
which will also help us fill the empty space in the Wiki left for the very same question
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Athena
"How to dump the ROM"
Thanks
Cheers!
well... since i got no response from anybody
Thanks to myself

and to top it off i finally found the ROM backup topic

now beats me on the mobile 6 subsection, and something that is totally on another area for another phone... oh well...
Good on you allgamer for taking a lead here. Some of us have been pushing for a separate 7510 forum under the Athena section. Without that we 7510 owners are continuously looking for "needles in haystacks".
cktlcmd and eaglesteve have been burning the 7510 candle for us. With your input we'll get this device on the map yet.
Hey i also just got a x7510, and id love see a x7510 rom!
hell yeah, you can say that again.... it was so hard to find anything, some times stuff like this the Search engine did not pick it up
like the rom dump, on another phone, i understand it is all PPC, but still it might have been different for some models
at least that was true in the Palm world, so i guess in the PPC world we'll have it easy, since it looks like all models dump appears to be the same.
as for the utility, never would have guessed it would have been found mentioned within a thread about something completely different.
anyways, now that i know, i'll be writing more about it, once i start working on it.

well, i don't mind sharing my custom ROMs, once i start cooking them.
but don't expect too much since, what i usually like to do is simply clean up all the junk that i don't need
then replace them with Freebies, or registered software, which if that is the case, i wont be able to share it here.
x7510 owners - forward march!
Something several of us are keen to see is a work around to make RealVGA work with Spb Mobile Shell. AllGamer, you mentioned in a post under "SPB Mobile Shell incompatible with Real VGA 96 dpi on the X7510" that you got a solution posted elsewhere working. Can you share with us how you did that?
Also, my devise is definately not running as smooth and quick as I would like it (or expect it to given its processor). As a prelude to getting some cooking going (and I'm not a chef) could we start to identify some tweaks that will make the stock ROM more efficient? For example I always ramp up the siz of cache etc. via MemMaid but to be honest I'm never sure whether it does any good or not.
Hi robjhellis,
Are you saying the performance in x7510 is not as smooth as it should be ? Can you please tell during what operations ie. Video etc it becomes sluggish. That would be a good place to start with.
Thanks,
Srini
Just guess, but i think that is the so much talked about behaviour of the video drivers issue on all HTC products
Videos are great no lag (well when i play them in coreplayer full screen, with specs up full). Only one "problem" lol...the audio is exactly -0.512milli seconds behind (when you hear it). So stupid tried all kinds of videos same result lol so thankfully coreplayer has an option were you just put "-0.512" in and ill kinda sync up the audio.. windows media player is pretty much pointless to play video now since you can't put -512 anywhere and the audio lags big time.
the audio in general is really bad, put on real expensive headphones and you can hear ssshhhhh hissss - the background noise.
Note: i was so shocked/surprised that i did a hard reset thinking maybe its something that i might of installed, but nope problem still there

Hi Guys, my issue isn't playing video - I haven't got to that stage yet on my 7510. Rather its just slow moving around menus, reloading after a soft reset, opening programs etc. I can sometimes count up to 3 and even 5 after selecting a tab before the tab appears e.g. Settings-System. I've also now started to see the start icon in the top left corner not redraw after a soft reset. There is much more lag than I see on my TyTN which, of course, is running a custom ROM

By any chance, do you know how to exlude Biotouch from starting list? It is not started from startup links, or at least not directly. I was browsing the regs also, but could not find anything. I use FTouchSL and UL for cube effect on Today screan, so Biotuch seems to be useless.
Also, do you now what a wt5portm or something like that is for ?

its in advance - > near the bottom "manual A/V offset +/-"
but it still dosn't work...anyone got a solution plz....i don't know what to do the audio is always out of sync for any video..
I've found the same lag on audio and it is SO annoying! Nothing seems to fix it!!
I've created a quick "how-to" on dumping the x7510 ROM, which may be found here: http://htcathena.freeforums.org/dumping-your-x7510-s-rom-t6.html#p7
I will follow up with a "how-to" on re-constructing the ROM (unless somebody else feels inclined to do so instead). [Edit - found this how-to] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066
However, we still need HardSPL or similar. CMONEX told me she and Olipro are working on an unlocker with that functionality, so we'll need to wait a tad! Once we have that we can start cooking some ROM's.

[Poll] - Multi-touch or Normal touch

Please read after vote !!!!!!!!!!
If you use FW JF version with multi-touch (JF1.4x) you will see these bug :
If you play some game, when you touch 2 fingers to the screen, the device understand that you touch 1 finger between 2 fingers
Because of it, when you use chompSMS, you will take mistake easily, sometime when using chompSMS soft keyboard, the screen vibrate longer and very inconvenience . I tried chompSMS on other phone use original FW of Google (without multi-touch) and chompSMS work perfect.
I sent some email to REM and JF to request an update without multi-touch, but they said it's not really need.
The multi-touch driver of lukehutch is not perfect. Thank for multi-touch and root phone, JF. But the multi-touch is not perfect and you should make an option to enable/disable it or make 2 update files : one comes with multi-touch and one without multi-touch.

Are you seriously telling someone who dedicates his time on a volunteer basis what they should do? He is doing us all a favor, and he should do whatever he wants to, if you don't appreciate his work - don't use it.
Honestly, if you want a different ROM for your phone, because you aren't happy with the stock ROM or JF's ROM, either develop your own or find someone else to do it. But don't demand that JF does what you want him to.
Btw - the only onscreen keyboard I have used is in Steel, and it is just as accurate with the multi touch as it was before.
And, I for one love imperfect things, the world is full of them and life wouldn't exist as we know it if it were not for imperfections. So bring them on!

I agree. I have used ChompSMS and I don't have a problem. I also have played some of the free version of the games (from glu) and I don't have any problems with the multi-touch. There are a lot of things that we would certainly want improved upon with the G1 however the multi-touch is one of the enhancements that we want to KEEP not to lose. I would personally like to see MT on Map and in pictures. Even if someone was to disable it why would he/she go through the trouble? I can see if several people urged him/her to do so and perhaps that's your point and goal of this thread but at the moment all of us are working on making it BETTER... not original. Multi-touch is in fact something that makes it better and sets it apart from stock. Bottom line... there really is no need.

Applications that do not work on Diamond 2

These are a few non-working apps I discovered when trying to customise my TD2 on day one.

As I've seen coreplayer showing video on the Diamond2 in one of the reviews I'd say that something has gone wrong during your customisation.
Core player 1.3 work perfectly on my Diamond 2 !!!!
A problem has occurred with player.exe
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
That's what happens when I run the program. It installs and appears in the program list but just won't run. I can't tell you what version it was either.
Maybe I should try a different version.
After a hard reset and direct install onto the device from a cab file I can now confirm that Coreplayer 1.3 does work very well on the D2. I have amended my original post. Thanks.

There is a new updated version of Co-Pilot specifically for the Diamond2, phone technical support on 0871 6412 540 (in the UK) and ask them for the download link, I did and my Co-Pilot is working ok.
If you try and load the D1 version you wont see many of the graphics on the screen, to get round this you can try using a non HTC old version and use the cab file from that, you should be able to find one floating around somewhere. The graphics are still not correct using the old generic cab but its usable.
Thanks for the reply and I did contact them and was given a link to the Diamond 2 program and it works ok.

Can you let me know what that version is? Im running 7.7.0.134 (full version with SD card etc, not Diamond version - which I think is the same but just comes without SD card and CoPilot Central PC app) but thats been the "latest" for nearly a year. Does this "new" version support the 480x800 resolution correctly.
It runs fine, just that the onscreen keys etc appear squashed.
Be grateful if you could let me know.
I just got the latest download v7.8.0.162 from them two days ago and was told by there sales person that the only thing that does not work is the TD2 Zoom Bar.
I have tested the program and it runs very smooth
How does this compare feature-wise to the TomTom mentioned in other threads for the TD2?
Co-Pilot
The version I am running is 7.8.0.162 Data NAVTEQ.EU 07Q3. v7.1.13.1.5, my understanding is that it has a higher screen resolution than the old Diamond 1 version, the menu system is a bit different. I think this version new will also run on the Touch HD.
I was told by Co-Pilot technical support that version 8 is on the horizon and will be out later this year.

In my opinion Co-Pilot is the better choice, for example you can specify the sort of road preferences you would normally drive on for each sort of road and enter the average speed you drive at to create a user profile that is normally quite accurate, there is a better zooming facility on Co P and I usually drive with the screen zoomed out so i can see all the small roads and villages around my route.

[APP] Snex9x for Windows RT

All,
Please find the attached Windows RT native binaries for Snes9x 1.53. Snes9x is a SNES emulator.

I've had to disable a few features, such as OpenGL support and AVI recording. Direct 3D support is still there and I've included the D3D9 runtime in the package. Please don't ask me for ROMs - google is your friend. I've tried a couple roms, seems to be working just fine, but there could be issues lurking as there were lots of compilation warnings.
Also, I don't have an Xbox controller handy so I'm not sure how well that will work.
Cheers!
EDIT: before anyone slams me for the port.. yes I'm aware of "Snes8x" in the app store

It's funny, because when you first posted this port I had that thought, but I downloaded it anyway. I have since discovered I cannot freaking play Super Mario with the store version's touch controller... it's just to imprecise (and no feedback) for me to actually have fun playing Mario (i.e. not dying constantly), and unless I'm just missing something, it doesn't seem to support keyboard input. So your port of Snes9x to the rescue! Thank you! I am curious what your motivation was to port it...

open charms bar, settings, there's something in there to enable and disable hardware or touch controls etc.
I guess some people prefer desktop apps to modern UI, that and its always a nice exercise.

Works for me... the longer I've had my Surface, the more I prefer the desktop for many things. So thanks again!!
Yeah there Is no Xbox controller support, unfortunately. Very solid port otherwise, thanks for the effort,
Having issues running this on 8.1.
Any suggestions? Just pops up a Windows error.

*facepalm* there are many threads and posts saying how there is no jailbreak for 8.1, this requires the jailbreak, therefore you cant use it. Snes8x is on the windows store though.

Sorry, it doesn't say anywhere that it requires jailbreak, so I didn't think about it.
I'll start assuming it requires jailbreak if it's not in the Store. Safe enough assumption?

yes. the idea of the jailbreak is that windows RT will only run apps if they have a digital signature from microsoft, which is not something they are issuing for desktop apps so our apps ports do not have a signature and will not run on windows RT. The jailbreak removed that restriction so it will run desktop apps developed by us (internet explorer, microsoft office and the other apps already on the device being microsoft apps are signed so will run on non jailbroken systems). Only microsoft can sign the apps.
There are a few exceptions, bat scripts can run on RT without a jailbreak, I think powershell scripts are fine too. You can coerce it into playing .swf files too (in metro too actually). Anything else, jailbreak required.
Sadly the exploit the jailbreak used was patched by microsoft in 8.1, why? we don't know. It serves no purpose to lock the desktop in this way and they went right out of their way to change the signature enforcement seemingly just to prevent the jailbreak. I think a few people have hinted at ways to jailbreak 8.1, but so far the idea has been to keep your mouth shut if you have an idea and only share via private means so that microsoft can't patch it until its too late (october when 8.1 goes fully public), as a result I have no idea if there is any progress, officially there is not.
Since the whole point of the jailbreak is to enable running non-"app" software, yes, that's a pretty safe assumption (not perfect - sideloaded apps don't need a jailbreak - but anything that tells you to run an EXE will).

This is only kind of true. The kernel exploit itself, the lack of validation on the object pointer on NtUserSetInformationThread subfunction 7, was not fixed. Getting to it was fixed and/or made much harder.

Do you happen to have the sources and project files available? I'd like to build upon yours and try to integrate with XInput as done by snes8x, specifically CBoxController.c/h, ControllerInput.c/h, etc.
How about buld new 1.55 release for WinRT?
https://github.com/snes9xgit/snes9x
I miss also DMGBoy latest 2.0 version build.
