voice dialer for htc hd2 - General Questions and Answers

Just wondered if anyone knows of a good voice dialer thats compatible with the HD2, I think this is the only real failing on an excellent phone and it would make it so much easier when using hands free ie in car.
Any ideas?
Dave

Welcome to the forums!
This question has been asked before, see this link for more information.
It is called Microsoft Voice Command; which is cooked in some of the ROMs out there for the HD2.
If you're not familiar with ROMs and flashing stuff, I suggest you spend some more time reading here on the forum.
Cheers,
EC

Smartphone Newb Question

So I just got my tilt today. This is my first smartphone and I just had a couple questions before I start flashing roms and such.
If I flash the HTC factory ROM, is this a completely different operating system than wm6?
Do wm programs work on the HTC ROM?
I know I sound stupid but I have to start somewhere.

ey, man, wellcome...
The right place to start is "reading"... there are a lot of ussefull info in the Wiki ... take time to read and to understand what you are reading... when you'll be familiarized with terms and concepts, then you'll have many questions to do, and someone take time to help you, but for now you need read
Cheers.
Start Here
A good place to start is the Kaiser Wiki. Located right here on XDA.
As far as flashing different roms go, every rom currently available for the Kaiser (Tilt) are Windows Mobile 6 roms.
The only issues I have run into with installing programs is when the install CAB file is locked down to a particular device. This was common with the original installer of TomTom GPS floating around the site.
Since you are new to the game, as I was just 18 months ago, the biggest piece of advice I can give is this: Search the forum before asking questions. This is not to avoid flaming, although that may happen from time to time, but due to the high volume of posting on the site, it may take longer to get a response if you create a new topic as opposed to adding your question to an existing one.

Awww, you beat me to it...
Thanks
Thanks for the response, I have been reading a lot lately but sometimes it is really hard to move on because people used advanced terms which are hard to find the meaning to without reading for hours through forums.
Just flashed on the HTC ROM, works perfectly.
I have really been looking to get the TouchFLO working on my Tilt, is this a setting or a button? Or do I need to install something?

Go to the wiki (its at the top of every page, its called "XDA-Wiki" and go to the kaiser section and read up. Also, go to my Tilt thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341024
I would also like to take this time to say "I told you so" to all the people who didn't think the majority of people with newbie questions would be Tilt users, and chastised me for making a "Tilt-only" thread.
defense
well in defense of myself.... a tilt was only $300 with new service where if I bought the "TyTn II" which is the same thing without a camera on the front, which I dont need, I would have to pay upwards of $800.
also thanks a lot for the threads very helpful
Now with the HTC rom there of course is no telenav, now do I have to pay for the GPS service through AT&T and Pay $9.99 for the telenav, or could I just purchase tom tom6 and be done with it and not pay at&t $9.99 a month for the gps service? thanks in advance for the response

If you purchase TomTom, then you are done. No monthly fees associated with it.
As far as your TouchFLO question, you need to flash your Tilt to a rom that supports it. As you will learn from browsing this site, cooked roms are still very new for the Kaiser/Tilt, so there will only be a few available.
For a basic TouchFLO rom with high stability, I recommend AustinSync's BIGstorage rom. TeleNav will be missing from it, but you will be able to access all of AT&T's internal networks such as MEdia Net without issue.
just for terminology purposes, kaiser/tilt is a pocketpc, not a smartphone.

Help with new smart phone

Hello Guys,
I have coming to this forum for a while and have always been thankful for the help and advice and for making my old MDA work the way is was meant to ;-).
Alas, the thing dies and I wanted to get something new so I bought this thing on eBay;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=290268552198
They call it the hTY Touch Flo or Hantel Q5and it is pre-loaded with WM6. It says it has built in GPS and a few other goodies but the iGo software just hangs the phone and does not fit the screen width and I have no way of changing it. It is also lacking some of the previous great features that I had especially with mfrazz's cooked rom.
I've scanned the forums and tried to search for this phone without much luck and was wondering if it might be similar enough to one of the phones on this forum to piggy back off of.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance.
I couldnĀ“t find anything on this device, it seems a copy of HTC
Its actually quite cool and so far so good but, I need the little extras that were always available here.

Not sure if this model is made by HTC as we dedicate this forum to HTC devices.
Perhaps other member can point you into the rigth direction

I would be greatly appreciative of help with this matter no matter what though.

This is HTC and in general what XDA-DEVS is about:
Welcome to xda-developers.com
This site is about certain PDA-phones, made by a firm called HTC in Taiwan. Their makers named them 'Wallaby', 'Himalaya', 'Blue Angel', 'Wizard' and 'TyTN', but almost nobody knows them by those names. The mobile provider O2 sells them under the brand-name 'XDA', and that's what we had in our hands first. They're also known as Qtek, MDA, SX-56, Hermes and many, many other names.
Since we develop software for it, we need information, and nobody seemed eager or ready to give us what we needed. So we 'reverse-engineered' the devices, found a lot of information, and shared it with the world. But as our site grew we realised that lots of ordinary users were also suffering from a lack of support. They started using the xda-developers forum to communicate and before long the forum was as much a user forum as it was a developer forum.
We hope that you will enjoy this site and find it as useful as we do. We encourage you to donate or otherwise support this site. Of course absolutely all proceeds from donations will benefit this community.
You are more than welcome!
Just wanted to let you know that we are HTC devices only
Good luck,
tis there noone that can help me at least with the .net com framework stuff.
Can some one post on how to change the .net compact framework it does run windows mobile 5 the only difference between this and a phone is the phone part everything else is the same so if someone can please help me with this I would greatly be appreciative.

Port Android / WM7 for HD2???

Hi Guys,
This is my first post.... I am firstly thankful to xda team for all their efforts and also to everyone who are working to fine tune WM6 and Android. When will MS learn all this? Damn Windows....(Hope MS is listening)......
Anyway i/everyone am/are totally fed up with WM6... Hope the XDA team is launching Android or WM7 for HTC HD2 (aka LEO) soon... Any NEWS/updates guys????
In short; yes someone (as in a lot of people) is working on both. Welcome to the forums, and check the threads and search function. You will find that threads concerning your questions are quite high in their respective sub-forums. Try and read up before posting, it'll make the stay here quite pleasant. Some people here are tired of answering the same questions over and over, and it'll keep the forums tidy.
very possible but i believe the developers said around end of this year for the android/wp7 on HD2.cant wait......
Well,WP7 is just around the corner.
As for Android,I tried it before but wasn't satisfied because it is maybe interesting at first but later it becomes really boring(Anyway for me).
The HD2's hardware can easily handle WP7 and Microsoft needs to change its mind:just because the HD2 doesn't have a bing key(I think that the problem is about this hardware key.Correct me if I am wrong) this doesn't mean that it is not capable.
@ForceField
Its not just the searchbutton. There are several hardware issues against the "new" mobile concept of MS. Especially the missing sd-card support or better MS don't wan't you to have changeable memory on your device, that might interfere with their "MS marketplace only" app source. That means there has to be much more internal storage in the device itself - like on the iPhone or Palm Pre.
It's definitly easier to become Android on the HD2 since HTC is releasing the nearly similar (hardwarewise) HTC Evo on Sprint - I guess this a nobrainer for the xda-chefs to cook the needed things for that.
microsoft must give an upgrade for htc hd2 because the wm 6.5 is getting boring....some of us loved it but would be great to give a chance to port a wp7 to hd2.. the android operating system is very good too...they made such as good phone as htc hd2 but they gave it away...the next htcs phones doesnt have even sense anymore if i am not doing wrong...after hd2 with sense they throwed away the sense and android came up more famous like HTC Evo or desire..!!!its too bad for such a hi-tech phone to stay forgotten!this phone needs some love so microsoft must give love ;-p and a special gift finally... !!!but at all thanks to god that we have xda-chefs to give us some real dope stuffs to hd2 in nearby ''future''....
ps sorry for my english... ;-p

It is definitely NOT a nobrainer putting Android on the HD2... the EVO may help a little.... but it is not the same hardware as the HD2. The nexus1 is closer hardware-wise to the HD2. They are using the nexus kernel as a starting point for the kernel they've been already working on for months. But they still have alot of work ahead of them. It is not the same as cooking a new rom. They have to port a working linux kernel.
Help......
God.... i am suffering with ORD... please help.

[Q] Which phone for Android?

Hey all! I am new to the forums, this being my first post. I had a question about running android on htc phones. Through a switch of cell phone carriers I have gained access to a Pure, a Fuze, or a Tilt 2. My goal is to run Android on one of these phones, using google voice for texting and calling on wi-fi. I was wondering which of these phone options would work the best to do this on and why. Thanks for any advice ~ Kidron
Welcome to forums
Diamond 2 and Rhodium have Android running just quite good on it, have a look to the proper subsections to find out more.
Read, Search, Respect and Enjoy!
Thanks! Will do...
