Undead leaving?

Idk if you guys know., and but over on RootzWiki undead said he is leaving the device...
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
Indeed he is. It's rather unfortunate since he was a good developer for the phone, but he caused a great deal of controversy while around. All in all, I think it will have a negative impact on our phone until more people pick up development.
I just wish he'd open source his ROMs to everyone and not just one person though.
eh. He kind of wants to do what Roman did with Bulletproof. Give it to someone who can carry it on. Idk. Not our choice
Just my spare change.
well, i know he leaves, he does it kindly, trying to give advice and answers still in his rom threads.
regarding who he gives stuff to, i hope someone steps up, because i'm not planning to do any GB stuff, aside the miui port already done. i've got the ics sensation on my mind most of the time, so i hope there's some other devs around who might get his stuff in hand who he wishes to give it to.

Might be useful, not sure

http://www.androidcentral.com/android-40-ice-cream-sandwich-lg-nitro-hd-leaks-out
does LG Nitro have the same specs as O3D/Thrill?
if so then this would be very helpful
Could be useful in the right hands I suppose, unfortunately mine are too small. Thanks anyway Mr.Highway.
I was reading around the android news, saw a few roms with thrill parts, an figured this might help y'all development out.
If I see anything else, I'll post it in here. Probably make this thread a place for useful stuff, for this phone an anything close, that I see or anyone else.
I wonder if any of the new apps will be backwards compatible with gb. Like the launcher or what not...
Anybody want to port it... lol
My exams are over, going to take a bit of time to try this out, see if I can port it or anything. Might be a collaborative effort between us devs if samno, thiaiz etc don't mind
Im slowly learning deving... i might miss this team effort though
And so I have spoken it.. and so it shall be.
@pandaball count me in ill help when i gets bits of time
Panda I will gladly test for you again if u do this for us

Just a little update on why things seem slow in here

So, I have seen a few posts as of late with some frustrations of there being very little going on here in the Atrix2 forum.
I want to give those a little background right now, and I am not speaking for every dev in here either, and I am hoping that they will all jump in here and give their 2 cents as well, so that we can let everyone know what is up.
As I am sure many have seen all the hoopla over the ICS leaks. This is one reason why things are a little slow right now. I am pretty sure that I don't want to keep working on things that are for 2.3.6 when 4.04 is about to be released in next several weeks. I am just guessing, but I am sure that the other devs may be feeling some of the same thing right now.
I KNOW that once we get ICS in hand, that there will be so much going on in here, it will be hard to keep up.
I am already working on some new hacks for ICS, and working on the CM9 FULL fresh compile, so that once we have the ICS kernel on our phones this should in all theoretical ways, work. I am still working on the bootloader as well, there are 3 different things that I am currently trying out, to break into it.
I also know that I am really hitting the Moto servers pretty hard with my own scripts to try and find an AT&T ICS leak for us, to get a head start on some of these FUN things for us, but until we get at least that, there is not too much we can do.
Ok devs, jump in, I hope I am not the only one in here that is thinking like this... I just thought this might be a nice way to let everyone know what is up and what we might be attempting at the moment, just before the you know what hits the fan.
Very well spoken as usual Jim! I feel the same way, once ICS comes out my work on GB is done!
I've been playing with AOKP every chance I get trying to get a working port going, once we get these bugs out for SCV6 and I get v1.3 out for Lithium, AOKP will be my main focus until we get ICS. I just don't see a point in continuing work on something that will be obsolete very shortly.
Development isn't dead by along ways, we are just at a stand still
If you're not checking cheesecake, you're not contributing all you can !!

Agreed. I will speak for myself when saying that Knowing ics is only weeks away,i myself am not going to kill myself in the kitchen with new updates or roms that are going to be old news and outdated ,and virtually useless to you guys in a matter of weeks.
Everything is quiet for me because i myself consider this my "break time" before the countless hours i am about to spend whipping up new roms and tweaks and just tearing the ics rom apart and exploring the new posibilities i will have with it.
Think of this as the calm before the storm.
Or do what i did, once i got this phone i was a little unsatisfied seeing only one rom at the time (lfaber06's scv4). So instead of complaining and/or waiting i took it upon myself to learn how to do what devs do.
You can Either be apart of the problem, or be a part of the solution.
My two cents..

That's where I am. Though, it may be more of a learning curve for me (as likely it has for others) to get a handle on things with the limitations imposed via AT&T / Moto, I am eager and have been using my time to soak up as much info and knowledge from outside sources, as well as guys here on the forum to be -eventually- helpful.
I've said it before, and have no qualms seeming like I'm sounding like a broken record, but I envy the dev's, hackers, et al that have AND continue to inspire me to get to the place I'd like to be...
I look forward to what ICS will give you guys to work with, and what it will do for the A2 community here. You guys are all my heros! lol

If you dev guys planning to leave a2 forum, then maybe i'll leave the boat too and get razr or htc one.
You guys are the reason for me to hold on my a2.
I understand how difficult to mod this device since it locked by at&t,though it has nice spec.
I'm very grateful when a new rom coming out,and i will hit thanks as many as i can for you guys, but no need to rush to develop this device and you can take your time to rest or for family.
You guys are rocks!
Many thanks for everything all of you have done.

I just wanted to say something as a regular flasher(That sounded bad but you guys know what i mean,. I have looked into the dev work and I'm just not into it. I basically do not have the time because of work and trying to raise my kids. I do understand there is a lot of hard work that goes into being a dev. I myself do not expect anything from you guys and I'm sure some people agree. The way i see it, if you all put out something for all of us, that is great but in no way, shape or form are you expected to. If things here are slow, so be it. If people want to cry about how slow it is here then they ought to start learning how to do things themselves. Anyway, we all appreciate the work that the devs do here and I don't want you to feel like you are under pressure to put anything out because your not. Keep up the good work.

That is not why I did this. I just wanted to give all of the devs a chance to give everyone a little update as to what is currently going on. I felt that as we are awaiting the ICS leak or official release, that we could just take a few min. to give everyone a little update in good faith. The fact that others have noticed a little slow down seemed the perfect chance to do something like this.
As you said, this write up really was not for the ones with issues, but more for the faithful that are here all the time and giving their support if nothing else. I really don't care if people want to whine and such. I am here to do what I feel is more fun for me, and my "curiosity" than anything else, and if that can help someone else, or give us some great finds, then awesome.

I'm very grateful for all the dev's here and I think you guys are all doing such awesome work. You guys have also been a huge help to me as I have started tearing apart ROM's and such on my own. And let me tell ya....
IT'S TIME CONSUMING AND INFURIATING!!!!
Alter code, write code. Flash. Boot Loop. Restore. Find out what went wrong. Alter code, write code. Flash. Bootloop. Repeat. LOL.
Got major props for you guys and the patience and time you have put into devoloping for us all. For free. Thanks so much!

Source code compiling... Any takers?

I'll be straight with you guys. I don't know SQUAT about Android's innards, but I don't want to let the SK die. I heard its source was released, making AOSP compiling a possibility, albeit a farfetched one. I could kang and tweak and maybe even make the next Glorious Overdose, if I wanted to, but I'd rather push the envelope. Can somebody point me in the right direction? And does anybody want to jump on board? I figured I'd start where it all began; the ADP1. If I can get a good look at that, maybe I can get a rudimentary grasp of AOSP compiling with the phone's source code and start toying with the SK4G and eventually shoehorn AOSP froyo onto it and build from there, maybe eventually get us some Jelly Bean lovin'. I don't know about anybody else, but until a quad-core exynos with a sidekick qwerty is released, I'm not letting this little gem go and let's face it, manufacturers don't give a sloppy **** about our kind, forgive my French. That said, I do have a life, so this won't be an overnight thing. However, I'm going to take the fate of this dying phone into my own hands if I can. So... I'm gonna call out some people who I think could do us some good, as long as there's no bickering. PM me if anybody, especially the following, are interested. And of course, I'll be willing to flash test builds.
Reactivedisorder
Sduvick
Trunks
Reviewers
Ayoteddy
Jin1337... I know you all hate him, but he genuinely cares about this device and knows a little. Believe it or not, my phone is running IcyBlaze 4.6 and it's stable and screamin'.
Like I said, NO BICKERING. I'll back down and do this alone if people start fighting like grade school kids. 90 percent of the people on this board are adults and if we put our heads together and act our age, we can bring this phone back to life and maybe even surpass the HD2.
Sent from Dexter, the Amazing Sidekick 4G! He's diggin' IcyBlaze 4.6 right now.
Get a reasonable goal that makes sense for this device. Newer versions of the OS are resource hungry and won't offer much that is new or useful.
I suggest trying to simply port stock Froyo.
Anyhow, good luck. Start by setting up a 64 bit Linux machine. If you want to look at the AOSP and CM7 trainwrecks, they are on github.
Pardon me for doubting you, but all the information to get started is on xda already. Hit the search.

Ubuntu for phone & Blaze?

So the big release is tomorrow for the Ubuntu for phone release for the GNexus and N4.... Anyone planning on porting this for us? I would really love to have Ubuntu on my phone as I can run my 3d printer software on my phone instead of buying another laptop for the garage. I am real excited about the Ubuntu phone though I wish we had a x86 cpu so we could run wine. Speaking of wine...... they are developing it for Android though it seems it is about a year away.
Would it be possible to create a dual boot Android/Ubuntu like the HD2 or are we too short on internal storage?
Wow, don't want much?? I am sure when it is released and we have a chance to see it we may be able to port it.. Until then enjoy what we have...
Oh count on a nice donation if we get Ubuntu working. Double that for a dual boot. I had Ubuntu on my old Glacier but I cant seem to get it to work well with the Blaze. I should of noted it wasnt a free request
Release date's were issued today
Images and open source code for the Touch Developer Preview of Ubuntu will be published on Thursday 21st February, supporting the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 smartphones. But more important than the release of two pre-compiled images will be a mass of un-compiled code. On the same day that Nexus owners face an ‘Android of Shiny New Preview’ dilemma, the Ubuntu Phone source code will also be made available.
This ‘milestone’ will be significant for the Ubuntu Phone project as it will mark the first that developers can dive in to the code. As an open-source project, devs will able to fix, refine and add features, as well as port it to run on other devices
Great! Well my offer is still there, put me down for $20 at least for a decent working port for the first dev/team to do it. We got some great devs here, I know it wont take too long.
Honestly man, no one is going to care that you have a $20 sitting there waiting to maybe be thrown into a developer's donate box in the future. Fact of the matter is, people that do stuff for phones do it because they like to do it. Their little donation button has nothing to do with giving them incentive to do anything, it's that they would be willing to spend more time working on a device, but it really is much easier to do with the device in hand.
Then you have the simple obvious fact that porting things takes a lot of work...the donate buttons there are to help a dev recover costs, and as often jokingly said, "Buy them a beer"....that's about it.
Say what you will about the absurdity of asking if Ubuntu will be ported to the Blaze, before the OS is even available to anyone, but to say, "I got money, I got money, I got money!" probably just comes off as a little insulting.
Maybe insulting is a bit excessive, but annoying surely fits.

Dude, did you really just scold somebody for wanting to donate? Wow... Don't take it personal, but you should have let that one go. He didn't hurt or insult you or anyone for that matter. Let em spend his money where he wants. Now let's keep it clean and play nice.

Wow, man calm down. the money is just to show the developer how much they mean to community. To show the support or a way to build up hope for hard ideas to come to life. He's not waiving the money like he's trying to buy their work, just showing how much he cares.
On Friday, 22nd February we are going to take the wraps off the Ubuntu Touch Porting Guide, which will go into detail how Ubuntu Touch can be ported to other devices.
This will be a great way to get involved and get Ubuntu onto all kinds of devices.

Thanks Racing19969, I am very grateful for your enthusiasm to get this rolling. You have been such a big help here lately and I thank you a lot for it. Please PM me if you need a tester or any help. I'll make sure and send you some 3d printed stuff for your phone next month btw, do you have another phone besides the Blaze? I might be able to make something for it too....
Downloading source for ubuntu phone now ... porting guide is up and will hopefully have something to report by the end of the day... It's probably going to be an uphill battle as ubuntu phone is based off cm10.1 and we still do not have a working kernel for 10.1..

WOW holy crap you are fast! Its ok, I'm down to wait, I'm just happy someone was interested in the project. Also more good news today, my printer is set to arrive Monday or Tuesday which is about 4 weeks early!! I emailed Samsung but they wont provide me with a render of our phone I just started a new job so hopefully I have some extra time to model up our phone to put on thingiverse soon. If not I might look into hiring someone to model our phone so we can get some 3d printed accessories.
Good luck man... I hope you success

Here's some good news idk if it'll help racing but just read it maybe u can try to look at some other phones port and it'll help
!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!PLEASE click THANKS if I helped!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!¡!
If any others are interested all you have to do is go here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices to see what devices are being worked on..
porting information can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
We are going to be stuck though until we can get a working kernel for cm10.1 as ubuntu for phone is based off of it...
Until then I have left this alone.. We really need a Kernel Dev here to figure out our issue.. I have been working on it for weeks trying to figure it out.
I know it has to do with the ramdisk and how 4.2.2 stores and looks at the files...
