Anyone her about new google maps with turn by turn directions for droid
Yes. The Droid has been out for some time now.
it wasnt released for our version of os... only if we flash to one of the custom 2.0+ roms will we have it until sprint or verizon releases it
The ASOP 1.6 rom that's available here has Google Navigation.....from what I've heard though Google navigation isn't exactly all that accurate right now. Probably better off staying with Sprint Navigation imo it does the job really well anyway.
PS: Just to agree with what was said before, it doesn't work for 1.5.

Hey all. I got my Roger's Magic in route from Canada to the US and should get it in the next few days. I am excited to finally ditch this devil iPhone.
The #1 thing I use my phone for is web surfing, so I need the surfing experience to be top quality and better than what I already have. I have used a stock G1 and it is certainly not up-to-par. However, from the videos I have seen of the Magics and Heros with MultiTouch and Flash, that is obviously the way to go for me.
Q: Is there a non-Hero rom out that has both MultiTouch and Flash for the Roger's Magic?
I say non-Hero rom because I see that there are a variety of bugs with the Hero rom, including bluetooth headsets. If there are not any roms out then I will try whatever the latest/greatest Hero rom is.
Q: Is there any roms out since the release of the 2.0 Doughnut OS to developers a couple days ago?
I noticed that the release notes for 2.0 include multitouch, but I do not know about flash. If I can get Android + Multitouch + Flash and keep all functionality of the phone working, that will be perfect. I can probably live without Sense UI till they get the kinks worked out.
Sorry for the long post!
side note: if you order a rogers magic and you are on tmobile you will not get 3g, just edge... and if you are on at&t then you will get 3g.
Q1: no, atleast not yet because multitouch on g1 roms is all done thru the kernel, we have to wait will htc releases the kernel sources... which is soon(or never). or for someone to figure out how to compile the kernel.
Q1: don't think so.
You'll have to go with one of the Hero builds, the only "bug" for bluetooth is file transfer which isn't a bug it's to do with the kernel.
Doughnut is not 2.0, and it is not multitouch someone jumped the gun on that. The only multitouch we have as of right now is through the Sense UI builds.

Excuse me for being stupid but I can't, for the love of God, figure out how the multitouch works on the Hero ROMs. I have the JACHeroski ROM on a 32A Magic.
I am used with the multitouch on the iPhone where you zoom in and zoom out with 2 fingers. Is this supposed to work the same? I tried it in the Browser and Google maps and nothing happened.

Works the same, in maps though. Browser and pictures work perfect, back to Finality 1.2.

In the maps it doesn't work for me. In Pictures it does. Browser works as well.
google maps doesn't use multitouch... yet

I can certainly live with no file transfer, since I don't use that anyways. I was going by the information on the wiki to determine that Bluetooth headsets didn't work. I guess that the wiki is quickly outdated.
How does one sort through these threads to find one that is the best working Hero - Rogers - Magic rom? It seems like there may be several available.
Thanks again!
Which Hero rom supports BT headsets? Finality 1.4 does not and that is my current rom.
Sorry I miss typed, browser and pictures work with multi touch nothing else.

Finality 1.2 works for bluetooth headsets for me, 1.4 did not so I reinstalled the 1.2 ROM. It's a bit buggy compared to 1.4 but I like to use the Bluetooth in my car.

Oh no, so the wiki is right after all about BT Headsets not working

Probably.
But not yet. Trust that Cyanogen and his army of coders will crack the secrets and port the ROM.
But not yet.
On a related note, hooray for the 6.1 Stable release!
That is all.
which is more stable and fast, CM6.1 or MTtest3 ??

Think they're about the same. The MTTest3 is good but I prefer CM6.1 for all the extra goodies that come it it. CMParts etc.
Okey, I will try CM6.1.
I don't think android 2.3 will run fast as 2.2:
2.2 is a port of official froyo from mytouch3G, so it's very optimized.
I hope in android 2.3 on G1, I would try to develop something to port 2.3 but I don't know how can I do.. I think by the official sdk but.. mmh
(I'm a programmer but I never developed roms for phones)
Cyanogen said on Twitter that he currently has no plan to port 2.3, as the OS will most likely be GPU-driven.
Honestly, his 6.1.0 release is pretty great.

yeah but now our device is really going to be out of date. :/
Well I think it's about time to upgrade to G2 or Nexus S. There's lot of great phones out there. G1 is rocking long enough I think, it stopped to be fast and responsive from Donut update or so...

congratz. wrong thread and wrong section.
flash cm6.1
flash gapps
flash latest pershoot kernel
next time go to the right section and provide logs etc
I think we must try to port android 2.3 to our g1!
BTW if 2.3 is too slow for our phones, I'll stay on 2.2, no problems!
I'm waiting for a perfect phone:
slide qwerty
800x480px amoled/superAmoled/superLCD
ram>512
rom>1gb
slot SDXC rolleyes: )
cpu>1ghz (and good performance.. the number isn't sufficient )
possible cpu with dual core
excellent gpu
5mpx camera with flash and 720p 60fps recording (also 1080p 30fps would be perfect ) with good optic and NO HTC PINK HALO
google experience or sense
I ask too much?
Do you think I'll keep G1 for the rest of my life?
It can probably be adapted from the AOSP source, but since it has some new gui thingy w/e that is, it will never be the same on our devices, whats the point in downgrading from something that works quite well atm, 2.2.1
Cyanogen's cm6 isn't one of those roms which have the myTouch base of T-mobile. It's pretty much coded from the Nexus Rom and ASOP.

Point of updating to 2.3
Well, for me there's one big reason why I'd like to upgrade to 2.3 - Native SIP.
What I don't understand is why Native SIP hasn't been built-in from 1.0! Now there's a flood of poor and mediocre SIP apps on the market, none of which are very good.
I sure hope 2.3 comes to the G1!

But for now I can't see any developer works on 2.3..
When froyo and other old android upgrade has been released a lot of people began to develop test roms (in the beginning unusable roms )
Now I can't see nothing

Having just switched from MT3G-test3 to Cyanogen 6.1, I would have to say they're pretty comparable. If you put my feet to the fire, I'd say MT3g-test3 is slightly faster, especially in regards to installing apps from the market. But the goodies available in Cyanogen are so good that...
Aargh, it's hard to decide. I have a nandroid+ext of both, so I can swap back and forth at will. I might spend a few days with each to see which one I enjoy using more, and report back. One thing making it harder... I have a white G1, which historically has had problems with Cyanogen. But the latest seems to be working a lot better than previous releases.

Yesterday was the first time I used Google Navigation on my recently acquired Skyrocket, and was surprised to hear a very good sounding human voice talk to me instead of the obviously computer generated voice I had previously experienced on my Captivate. The difference was striking. I was wondering where this much improved voice came from. I'm running total stock ICS right now, and I was running Slim ICS on my Captivate, so I am thinking it's not necessarily an ICS thing. Anybody know anything about this? Is this perhaps because I still have the AT&T Navigation installed (never used it) on my Skyrocket? I want to flash a custom ROM on this phone, but I'd love to keep this much improved voice.

I believe it a part stock ICS running the latest Google Navigation. You should have it on the other ROMs.

I assume so. I used wallet v1.6 on Synergy v1.7 and it worked fine. Don't take my word for it though.

Yeah, I was rather curious about this as well. I have really grown to love Google wallet and Google now in this rom and although i have been following the synergy thread closely, i haven't seen anything further posted about the lifespan of regular Google wallet updates to match nighties (which seems insane) .

honestly i don't think it's that much work, i think he just has to update a build.prop file or something like that and repackage it. if i knew how to do it i would take over for him since he said he started school again and will have less time for dev work

thanks for the replies fellas. its worth a try but i think ill wait another day or so cause ive heard that in the r20 build, people are having horrible battery life and they are trying to track down the problem.
I recently got my phone S-off'd and I flashed LineageOS 14.1 on it. Everything seems to work except my mobile data says "No Service" most of the time (even though it still works all of the time) and the GPS has become terrible.
When I try using Google Maps, it rarely updates my position and it always says im facing north. Waze straight up tells me I have no GPS reception.
So what did I do wrong? I'm fairly new to the whole flashing scene but I did at least try to search my problem. I came up with a bunch of "radio" version problems but that was tough to google because it kept linking me to actual FM radio apps.
specs:
Verizon HTC One M8
ROM: LineageOS 14.1
Android version 7.1.1
Radio version: 1.14.20.0930
Any help is appreciated

i havent taken the N plunge yet, so i am not sure if this applies. for the gps issue, try flashing a sense rom, let it fully boot then use maps or a gps tool like gps test. give it a few mins to lock on. then flash your aosp rom, or restore a nand maybe. ive had to do that in the past with mine. while its on the sense rom, compare signal, aosp seems to get lower readings, but i honestly think its just the way the oem and carriers code their s/w. if the signal seems a lot better it may just be something in the rom, could try a diff N one or even MM for better comparison

Do I have to full wipe my phone if I want to switch between roms? I will try switching back to N after flashing a sense rom but if that doesn't work I may as well just stay on a sense based MM rom. Speaking of which, know any good ones? It's kind of heard to like Sense imo.

It's been a while but I finally got around to doing this. I flashed to a sense rom where the GPS and service was working. I opened Google Maps to turn on the gps then shut the phone off with the app in the foreground. Now I reflashed back to Android Nougat and everything works as it is supposed to!
Although I did flash an entirely new ROM for nougat so that also might be the reason. It's still CM based and not Sense, so I don't think that was the reason.

its a htc thing actually. ive had this happen on m8s and a few other htc devices
