Hey guys,
My question is pretty simple; has anyone been able to figure out how to clear/remove/reset the searches you do in the Android Market? I know if you wipe your phone, that clears it, but is there any other way -- or even a app? Thanks in advance!
So apparently, 92 people and counting have looked at this thread... and not ONE single answer yet -- not even a "NO"... this can't be done. Is that weird to anyone else, besides me??
Yes it can be done with an app called CacheMate

Or try this, was on another forum somewhere:
If you have root access, it appears that you can delete /data/data/com.android.vending/databases/suggestions.db. I had to reboot for this to be effective. I haven't noticed any issues after doing this. The file seems to be recreated by the market app.

try the market? Mine didnt update the first time, but the second time it was fine, same with the youtube app.
This is the first time I've ever tried to adb pull an update off my phone. I think this is the file you want. If its not, I apologize in advance. It came from /data/apps and I think thats the right place. If not if someone tells me the right place I'll get it up tomorrow.

Installed directly by tapping on the link in XDA-app, then forwarding to browser, download, install, ready, works. Thanks for sharing!
Anyway to always enable inline reply? Nice new feature, useless if I gotta press "reply inline" every time.

I like, but the new black n white notification icon is fugly.

Just passing this on, almost started a thread to ask for help before finding the answer with Google.
After using Bubbys simple root, everything has been working fine except for a couple of things. Noticed a couple of issues with the market; first, it started trying to install all of my apps at once, and none were actually finishing installing. I had to go and cancel downloads of all the ones I could, then restart the downloads; worked fine then. Everything I've tried to install has worked that way that I've tried except Angry Birds. Tried to install it, got an error and wouldn't install. Tried pushing it in, same problem. It was driving me crazy, but I just came across a suggestion that I tried. Unmount the SD card, install, remount the card; works great. Just passing it on if anyone else has a market install problem after Bubbys root.
This should probably be posted in bubbys thread for his one click simple root. So he can add it to the f.a.q. That would seem to be the most appropriate place for it.
Thank you for the info though.

Gonna post it there too, because I have another issue I haven't solved and need some answers for. Just trying to skim through to make sure it hasn't been addressed already. These threads are damn hard to read through, though, there are so many posts (2,340 right now!). It cracks me up when someone asks a question and someone else gives a snippy comback about how it was already asked and answered 30 pages back on page 43.
EDIT: Should have looked over the FAQ better to start with.
"Q: Why are my Market downloads paused/not working?
A: This is actually a Market issue, but has a fairly easy fix:
Open Settings>Applications>Manage Applications.
Select the Market app.
Click “Clear Cache” and/or “Clear Data” if either of them are able to be pressed.
Reboot your Inspire."
Works better than my way.
They need to make an app that roots the HTC inspire instantly an put it on the market.....

We know, the thread you started already makes that same "snap your fingers and it will just magically happen" suggestion.

Didn't you learn anything from your last thread?
I reset my phone today and began searching for WordUp to reinstall it and I couldn't find it anywhere in the market. I was wondering if anyone has any information on what may have happened to it? Also I'm not sure if this is or isn't allowed, but if it is allowed can someone post the .apk for it? Thanks in advance.
Yeah, I'm not finding it either for some reason when I just looked. Not sure why, but I had it backed up with Titanium.

Thanks, plainjane! I was looking into this, and according to the dev's (Anthrological) twitter, it was yanked because someone somewhere has apparently been granted a trademark for the phrase "word up" ...it'll be back soon, pending a name change.

May have been answered before but searching didn't bring anything up for me. Basically I want to clear the data backed up on my Google account regarding Android (WiFi, Market apps, Settings, etc) so I can start again.
Anyone know how to do it?
OK, managed to find somewhere that if you go into your Privacy settings and uncheck the backup option it says it'll delete everything. Is this correct?
Erm I think so eddy I used to untick it when first install and everythibk would be clear
For reference, the above doesn't work. Tried clearing the lot, wiped all data and reflashed my ROM and it still restored my apps, etc...quite annoying really. I mean, its good, but if you wanna start from a clean slate it would seem you can't!
Erm ok soz buddy

That's OK mate! I'll find a way I'm sure
Quick edit: Turning off backup DOES delete settings relating to the phone but NOT the Market. Must be a separate backup which I can't find!
EDIT: OK, sign into your Google Dashboard and you can see what's backed up and when but you CANNOT delete it. Why the hell not?!?!

Hi,
Is it one of those situations where they have you by the short and curlies, and will not let you go?
Maybe the only way is to open a new account?
I seem to remember AOL being the same...
Bloody well hope not! I've emailed Google so we'll see what comes of it but surely if you delete an app it should NOT come back the next time!
On a related note, anyone know why some apps I install are NOT listed under 'My Apps'? I'm guessing it's linked to my account somehow but, again, it's annoying!
Erm depends if they where downloaded from Google it self or if sourced from some where else they won't show up I should know
If u have titanium backup go to
Menu/more/market doctor and it will fix broken links to Google market

They're all from the Market, but I'll try the TI option, thanks
EDIT: I'm not paying for an app I'll never use, but thanks anyway. Funny how the old Market never had this issue. just the new one
Haha yes yes I agree old market was fantastic
Yes i do try before I buy if I like the app then buy

Randomly enough, it seems to have worked anyway! It said I may have to 'download any app' to get it up to scratch and, seeing as Superuser needing updating, I did it. It now shows all Market apps in My Apps!
Yh I did it I was playing around and now I have like 20 updates but can't update them.as there ermmmm not from Google

I'm just glad to have it sorted, was doing my nut in! At least now everything is cleared and setup from scratch so hopefully won't have to complain again. Still think Google should have the option
I already searched on here, and someone asked this before but got no reply.
I want to uninstall Gmail 4.7.1 from my Kyocera Rise that's running ICS, and install the older Gmail 2.3.4.1 on it. Has anyone else done this before? Any idea if it'll work?
I want to do this because 2.3.4.1 is what my old phone (was running Gingerbread) had on it. I don't like the newer Gmail app, IMO they made it harder to read and navigate. I find myself using my old phone just to check my email, because its less annoying. It'd be awesome if the older app were to work on here.

Welcome to Xda, you will see that this happens allot here and i wish everyone could get the help they deserve but most of the time they don't as for your problem, you could google Gmail 2.3.4.1 apk and might be able to find someone who mirrored that like you can try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181033 download that file from your phone or computer and find it and install it. it might not work because google sorta wants us to use newer versions of their apps but if it does you need to turn off the auto update so it wont. good luck and welcome to XDA!

Hello, thanks. I've been a lurker on here for a while, but I have no experience asking my own questions here.
Yup, I did that, I downloaded an .apk of 2.3.4.1. I was asking on here to try and find out if attempting this would even work.... in my research I can't find anything on whether something like this for Gingerbread will work correctly in ICS. It looks like I have to root to even remove Gmail 4.7.1 so that's why I was asking before getting into this.

The reason why you can't completely uninstall it is because it's a system app. So yes you would have to root to remove it
