Hi you all, i installed the new update for HTC HD2 – New SMS Function Update [14.01.2010], and untill know all is greath but i noticed that the size of the text in the sms conversation mode is changed, the smallest is now very big... and i would like to put is the same size is was before (really small), is it possible to tweak any reg or someting to but the size correclly?
Cheers
Well i found it out myself...
regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/HTCMESSAGING/FONTS/FontScale
Edit the value to 5.
Works like a charm
Well this change on the registry don´t work 100%, the size was ok for a moment, after the text on conversation mode simple vanish.
Any ideas?
hi, i got the same problem. i thought it was my own fault, but fortunately not so now just wait uhtil htc release the hotfix for the hotfix.
other question, when i go to conversation modus it takes about 30sec before i can reply because the phone need to load all the previous textmessages... is there any way to let the phone load about the latest 10 messages?
I need a fix for this too as I used to use the smallest font size!

Get the latest sms hotfix off the HTC site. It fixes this issue so you can type immediately.
i installed that fix yesterday and it was all wrong, big text and couldn't type while loading al the messages, i reinstalled it today and i got no problem at all... the text is smal again and you could type while your phone is loading al the messages!
unforunately, in the conversationmodus it says -GSM at the end of all messages, with longer messages it's stated trough the last sentence... not perfect at all, but much better. i wasn't using the conversation modus at all! and now i will!!

Interestingly, the font size is extremely small in the traditional view with this new hotfix.
A question: did you download it again and re-installed or did you re-install the same file? It's really strange if the same file has changed things for you.
*checked now and the file on the server today is the same as the file from yesterday
Reinstalled the hotfix and still the same - using "Smaller" or "Smallest" I can't even see the text content, just the name and date.
Anyone got any ideas?
I did a soft reset a few times and it now works. along with the registry edit
can you change the collor of the text ?

Hi
I received my XDA ORBIT 2 and have been using it for 2 days now.
Just got a few questions to ask..
1) When making a call to the device, it is normal for the phone to ring 3 times before the XDA ORBIT 2 starts ringing? I just thought it was quite a big delay.
(Yes it is normal - credit to gnick666 for the help there, thanks)
2) Does anyone have a problem with the handsfree kit - if you are listening to the radio and press any button on it, you will get a really bad signal for a few seconds. Its even worse when you press MUTE, it just gives a really loud static noise even if the signal was perfectly fine before
(Problem dissappeared with hard reset)
3) Doesn't the main camera seem very choppy and bad quality? I mean the camera is meant to be 3 Megapixels but if you compare it to other 3 Megapixel phones it is obvious that the XDA ORBIT 2's camera is crap! It looks like a 2 Megapixel!
(Fix provided, however doesn't really fix the problem - download from this linK: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2049527)
4) Is there any way to edit the Touch Cube? It has CoPilot on it but frankly CoPilot is very bad in my experience and uses really old maps - it couldnt find any of my destinations that TomTom could. Is it possible to swap the CoPilot button with a TomTom one on the cube?
(A program can edit the Touch Cube - download from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=71953&d=1203658279)
5) Also, has anyone had the problem where the phone takes forever to send a text mesage even if you have full signal? Every 30 seconds or so it will tell you your balance but it will take a long time before it actually sends the text message - could be as long as 10 minutes!
(Problem resolved - do not send any messages to 20202 or this blocks the outbox queue)

Sadly it is... I don't know about the homebrew ROMs, but in the original ROMs the delay is definitely there...

Hi
The handsfree kit is the one that came with the PDA.
can you give me a link for that fix? I looked on the HTC website and I cant find it...
Did a hard reset and ithe text messaging issue appears to be working fine now.
Thanks for your help!!!
You need to log in into the HTC e-club to download the patch.
Register, Log-in and select the Touch Cruise under software downloads.
Greetz.

Could you possibly upload the file here for me? Just thought that it would result in not needing to register because all I need is just one file..
Thanks and I know i'm asking a lot here but i'd really appreciate it.
Thanks!
The fix has actually has been posted on this forum... search the attachments...
Thanks finally found it
Eerm about the text messaging problem, I thought I fixed it but its still there..
I found the culprit, infact. Because I am a pay and go customer, I regulary check how many free text messages I have got.. this is done by texting BALANCE to 20202. But everytime I text that number to check my balance, my phone never sends the message, it gets stuck in the outbox queue and every 30 seconds it will tell me my balance. Because of this the phone cannot send any other text messages. The only way to solve this problem is to delete the text message from the outbox, soft reset the phone and never text 20202 again.
It works fine now and an alternative to check you free allowance is by calling 4444 and selecting option 2 twice. This bypasses the text problem.
Just thought I would explain it incase someone else gets the problem.
HI to prank1,
I have the same camera problem with my touch cruise. been searching the forum for hours, still cant find the fix for camera, can you help me by showing me where to look ?
THanks so much.
Hi leynos
The camera fix does not help that much, still a bit choppy. In fact it is meant to address a different issue:
If you zoom in on a captured photo and notice grainy, maze-like patterns within the image itself (this problem is caused by too much sharpness enhancement being applied in bright-light environments), please download and install this hot fix to solve the problem. Sharpness parameters within the photo will then be reduced with only a minimal loss of image sharpness
If you still want to download the patch, visit this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2049527
The choppyness of the camera is because of the drivers, the fix only helps whith some quality issues...
I installed the new official 6.1 ROM from HTC on my Touch Cruise. I is working gread, but there is one VERY annoying feature that I want to get rid off, but I can't find a way.
It is that foolish manner of showing the SMS messages as some kind of chat conversation. How can I get rid of that ? I want to use the old fashioned way of SMS being just an SMS, not a chat conversation.
Search the forum for the registry entry to turn off threaded SMS.
I have seen this new feature on the new ROM and I thought it was cool at first. It's starting to annoy me a little bit, so we'll have to see whether or not I get that annoyed I have to turn threaded SMS off.
yeah some parts are a bit annoying. like viewing the timestamp of a text was sent a couple of days ago. haven't quite figured that one yet. the other thing is the performance hit with threaded sms, as well as when the keyboard pops up combined with the area to write in, not much space is left to see the previous message anyways. maybe i should turn it off....haha...

I take this back. It's pretty annoying now!
After digging about, I found this superb fix in a .cab file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1963101&postcount=31
U cud use Mod SMS V 2.0
Maybe you could use this:
http://freewareppc.com/communication/modesms.shtml
Also an part of changeable settings in Schap's Advanced Config Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070&highlight=Schap%27s+Advanced+Config)
Again, I searched for about 30 minutes before posting this.. in both diamond and touch pro forums and all over here.. I figure this is a common issue, but still found nothing. Maybe I'm a bad searcher... (Sorry)
I get a ring sound, but no visual notification of texts or emails.
Is there anyway to make touchflo3D or something show the actual text message or email pop up when received?
I'm sure there's a small notification icon somewhere, but I can't see it... And even if I could.. I'd rather the message just pop up anyway.
Thanks-
You need to go to Start>settings>sounds & notifications>Notifications Tab>Event>Messaging: New text message> then click the "display message on screen" box.
Hope this is what you were looking for.
EDIT: Repeat same cycle for email notifications.

Im not sure if its becuase i receive a txt msg while using an app or w/e but i have 2 go through that setting like 5x a day...its gettin annoying!!! any ideas??
Having same problem here. The "display on screen" box keeps becoming unchecked on its own. Does anyone have any idea/solution to this? I recently took my phone back to O2 to upgrade to the latest firmware, and it's still happening. I'm pretty sure it happened with the previous firmware as well.

ROM 5.12.206.1 WWE

I noticed that a long time ago too and don't have the solution.
But it seems to me that the option gets unchecked automatically only when you are doing some specifics things wth your device. Otherwise it remains checked and works properly.
For example having the option checked, open some of your usual applications and send yourself an sms (my carrier allows me to send myself an sms through their webpage ) and you 'll see that sms pops up with some of them and not with others.
Luckyly the most recent version of windows mobile (the one with the thick bottom bar) has a new notification method, so when you touch the taskbar, an amplified version of that taskbar rolls out, and there you 've a "message icon". You touch that icon and it drives you directly to the pOutlook app and shows you the message. That's Cool!

Currently i recieve lots of texts, i've noticed that I can not reply straight away when my text messages are set to show like a conversation because my htc hd 2 has to load all the texts. I was wondering if someone could make a tweak where it only showed the last 5 or 10 messages so i can reply instantly
Yes. 2nd that. That is the only problem with HD2 now for me
would appreciate this too
I've had a quick look at the registry, but couldnt find anything useful.
I dunno if its set in a manila-file or in the messagingapplication itself.
Would be nice to tweak this...
+1 to this feature,
with my HTC P3600 I had sms routing and it only showed the 10 last messages,
if you wanna see older messages you could press, 'see history',
+1 . will be great that tweak
Awesome, glad to see some people agree! I have no idea how to do it so...

One way to overcome the delay until a fix comes out, is as soon as you open the conversation, click 'send' and a warning window pops up asking if you want to send a blank text, select 'no' and there you have the whole conversation loaded instantly. Plus I noticed last night when I disabled the sense ui and installed Spbmobile shell 3.5.2, the Htc messaging app will still take a while to load the conversation but at least you can type out your reply while its doing it.

Oh i see, thanks! I will try the blank text thing for now
I tend to read my sms from manila then click the "new sms" icon and basically write a new sms rather than clicking reply. Until a fix is found I have found this the quicker way to reply to sms.
Just as soon as you open the conversation, click 'tap here to compose' and you'll be able to compose. But be quick

hi there!
just wanted to let you know that, for the last 2 days now, I'm experiencing this weird issue:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-5/334621-problem-half-blank-screen-incoming-calls.html
the lower half of the screen, when I receive an incoming call, is black (this wasn't so in the first 1-2 days). even if the caller has a contact photo, it's shown only like 1/3, the rest is black. this appeared like 2-3 days ago and didn't change after the small update I've succesfully applied.
the device is an 8GB version, bought from Amazon.de.
any1 has this issue? is there a fix to it?
THX!
I have fixed it.

thanks, but I wouldn't want to root my Moto G yet. especially since I'm kinda waiting for the KitKat update.
so, is this a bug, or is it a new "feature" of the later Android versions? because if it's the latter, it kinda sucks bigtime! the example in your other thread (where only the hat can be seen from the contact picture) is a good one for how stupid this is if it's really intended like this.
btw, this changed after 1-2 days of proper usage, I remember the incoming call screen to show the complete contact picture at the beginning, I guess it changed later. would it change if I'd reset the phone, for example?
did a factory reset and unchecked the option to restore settings and apps from the previous phone -- unfortunately, this didn't fix the issue. still, when there's an incoming call, i can only see like 1/3 of the contact picture. the rest of the screen is black...grrrreat!
Man, this is a bug in Phone.apk of Android 4.3 and I fixed it. You need root though if you want to change the apk.

I have just got a Moto G (4.3) myself and noticed for the first time, this new "feature" of having have black or blank screen during an incoming call.
somewhere else I even read someone's reply rationalizing why it was necessary to have a 2/3 black screen, so that the green and red buttons can be easily visible !!
couldn't the designers just added a small black background to the red and green buttons? that would show them clearly !!
anyway,
I installed this HD caller ID app, so now a nice big picture of the contact is seen.
it does run as a service, and though I don't like this, its still better than having to see the hair of my contacts calling me !!
it has many reviews, ratings and downloads, though u might check other similar apps too. or perhaps another dialer app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.nicky.HDCallerID
works good enough for me, has some themes where u can change how the green and red buttons show up.
