hi all,
is there any app out there that can read (TTS) my Emails?
Thanks
Berni
refreshing
Hi.
I have set up a program to do this thing you ask.
But it requires you either have MS Voice Command or Speereo Voice app. I could rotate it into the quick release queue if there was an interest.
I forget if MS Voice command already reads emails. I know it reads text messages.
My app can have anything read back.
Thanks,
Keith
wouldnt mind getting that please
My Touch Pro (MightyRom6 + Microsoft Voice Command) will announce the subject and sender of an email, but not the actual message body. If it could announce the message body as well, that would be a very useful feature.

Does anyone know of any Windows Mobile 6 Voice SMS programs?
I drive a lot, and typing on a small keyboard while driving is not all that comfortable. So i was wondering if there is any program which would let me speak the words into a SMS message and the words would translate into text.
I don't think most PPC devices really have the muscle for accurate speech to text. It's only recently that it's quality has gotten fairly acceptable for PCs with processors a good 10-15 times faster than most PDA phones have available to them.
I use Jott (www.jott.com) semiregularly and it's a really nice service. If you're based in the USA, you find it useful for your needs.
As avatar said, I don't think PPCs have the processing power (yet).
As avatar said most software in this category is quite unreliable. If you do a google search for this software are try the first few options available you will discover this for yourself

I was looking more of a program which will allow me to speak out a text message and convert my words into text so I can send a text message to a phone number. Jott only sends out emails.

yeah ive been hunting for something like that for a while... still looking. As far as text to speech goes the best available is textspeech pro
I am searching speech to text software for a long time too. I really want to record my job meeting by my phone and it can convert the meeting converasation to a word document or PDF file, then it is easier to make a memo for the meeting. Also, I don't need to busy to drop note in the meeting.
If anyone who know that kind of Program?

Thanks for your reply, but the software you mentioned above is a text-to-speech,
software but not a speech-to-text. They are not the same kind of software.

I'll keep looking!
I know that there are apps for speech to text for the iphone and for Blackberrys. Somebody's gotta be able to do it.
Try Dial2Do
Someone above said that Jott doesn't do texts. I used to send text messages while driving with them all the time. According to their website they still do it. But I quit Jott when they went out of beta, and switched to Dial2do. Same functionality, as far as texting goes, but a free service.

Try Speereo
Well ther's a new app called tellme which uses your voice for text, searching internet and many other features... just a quick search here and it will take you to the thread but its only compatible with WM6.5, and you need to install microsoft voice command before installing tellme...

Vlingo has announced that effectively immediately, it's voice to action is now FREE
Thanks gonna try it.
I just downloaded Vlingo...but when I say the "send text" command it opens up the native Android SMS app, even though I have Google Voice as the default SMS app on my phone. How do I get Vlingo to open Google Voice when sending texts?
It may not be able to integrate to it. It's only advertised to work with the defaults after all. GV is an addition in 2.1, so I cant say.
Try "text via voice" or something similar. You could also contact the developer.
How is working with battery? Does it drain battery a lot?
Honestly? I don't know. I suppose it does no more than Google Voice Search, when in use.
Despite the cool factor, this doesn't make Captivate a KITT
Works with handcent sms fine. For sms, I prefer it. Also has a widget to turn on read aloud for sms.
Edwin seems to open apps better. Edwin has translation. You can also have search results come back as audio.
Google default dials contacts faster but this shows phone book and google results which is nice.
Overall great addition.
Also like gesture search app. Try that one out.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
The problem I'm having with this, as well as the Google Voice thingamabob, is that I have to tell it the whole name of someone in my contact list before it recognizes who I'm talking about. It misses on first names every time, even if the first name I ask it to call or text is unique on the contact list. I had hoped Vlingo would be an improvement, but, alas....
Hi,
I am looking for an application similar to voice dialing but which can write sms
I dictate and my phone write the sms. Do you know any software capable of doing this please?
Thanks
Hey there xda dudes,
I'm searching for an app or rather a feature which I can't find: I want to send voice/ audio messages like walkie talkie apps and also have voice recognition in there, so that me and friends don't have to hear the message and can also read it, even if it was recorded as a voice message and not typed. That would be awesome!
Even better if it was streaming and sending while recording and also, with the new ICS "open mic voice recognition" instant transcribing )
Looking forward to your helps and respons0rz

HeyTell can do audio messages but I dont think it can do the voice recognition part...
Hey, yes thank you, that's also what I found. There are a couple of apps which can do voice messages, but found none that transcribe to text. Which would be incredibly awesome.

I use the flexT9 keyboard and regularly use the speech to text option to enter a text msg/instant message in various programs...that seems to be what you're really looking for.

Thank you, but nah... I'm searching for BOTH voice message AND transcribed text... so I can send recorded messages without having to type what I said. But still send the voice message, because it's different from just text.
Dear all,
This application was inspired by the fact that there are great demand on editing and sending quick SMS, without much action from your hands (no keyboard typing, minimum screen touches). Unfortunately, current applications on the market do not provide an adequate handsfree experience, as they still require many clicks on the screen (search for contacts, select contacts, switch to message text box, etc.). Besides, most of them do not allow multiple sentences to be inputted at one go, as you might need to click to the listen button again and again to add new sentences. Furthermore, punctuation marks and capitalization between sentences are not well managed.
Given the aforementioned reasons, we have created this application, which provides:
Handsfree contact searching
Handsfree contact select and unselect
Handsfree message editing
Support multi-sentence message. You just need to speak sentence by sentence
Support punctuation marks. You can speak "Hello comma how are you doing question mark", the result will be "Hello, how are you doing?". You can also add punctuation marks at the end of your sentence just by saying it.
Auto capitalization at the beginning of sentence
Support sentence or message deletion with voice command
Send message to SMS application with voice command
Adding emoticon with voice commands
Let us make the SMS editing by voice a real handsfree process.

This is a good variant. I think it's better to use apps that have templates or ready-made phrases, of course you need to touch the screen, but a minimum of touches. I'm comfortable with this. You should always aim at a large number of people. I have an example of such an application for images with text like sms https://www.maxaboutsms.com/love_sms.aspx . I use them because they are cute, they can be quickly and conveniently searched for and used. It is also very easy to install. I wish you good luck, I like your approach. People like you do mobile and unique things.
Dear, thank you for your feedback . Definitely, that is also a potential approach. For our application, we target the minimization of screen touch. For now, with our application, users can search for contacts, select/unselect targeting contacts, edit message (add sentences and delete sentences), and forward the message to the default SMS application, with only ONE single touch (to start the voice recognition). With this approach, we believe that it fits various use cases in which users prefer to minimize the number of touches on screen. And last but not least, your messages will not be limited by a finite number of ready-made phrases :-D
UPDATE: Version 1.0.1
We have just released an update which:
Fixes the issue on voice recognition library visibility on Android 11 (for those who have experience with Android 11, this library visibility is no stranger to them)
Improves the flow between searching contacts and editing message. For example, if the application is currently focusing on the message editing, and you say "Drop all contacts", the application will unselect all selected targeting contacts for you, and also switch the focus to contact autocomplete box.
Allows users to re-enable the tutorial. It will be useful if you forgot how the application works and want to see the showcases again.
