Changing just one icon in the slider bar - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Is there a way to change one icon on the slider bar at the bottom of the HD2 screen without changing all of the icons? I have an icon installed on my phone that I like alot and would like to replace the existing icon in my slider with that icon. Can it be done? Thanks a million for any response.

Generally it is changing either a dll or image file, so you need to specify which one it is. If you are using a cooked rom then the chef of the rom might be able to assist you.

Thanks sakiin, for yor rapid reply, I am using a stock ROM with only the basic tweaks. I want to change the "Photos & Videos" and "Music".

would be interested in doing this, too
have a nice pic for the Music Tab (the big one presented on screen when "scrolling") How can I do this or which manila file I have to change to operate this?

search for CFC GUI in the forum...
with that you can decode (and encode) manila files to edit them.
hope it helps

but WHICH files I have to change? I'm throug all files now (loaded from device) with CFC GUI but couldn't find them - are they all in one file and I simply rush besides them or are there specific files I have to load otherwise?

If someone knows the name of the different manila files for the slider and its icon it would be great to post them.
Then just modify each manila file using Manila Editor.
...

Okay thinking of having found some files under unknown:
17ac5803_manila = 256x256 share/stock (don't know the right english word, but German one is "Aktie")
17ef70ed_manila = 128x128 of the image above
1d7b29c4_manila = 256x256 contact image
2577a407_manila = 256x256 mail image
33afebf1_manila = 128x128 mail image (small one) (=C16)
44db898d_manila = 128x128 mail image (small one) (same one???) (=C8)
278db717_manila = 256x256 SMS image
28601361_manila = 128x128 FootPrint image (small one)
299e5ef2_manila = 128x128 Home image (small one)
2b1c2bb3_manila = 128x128 Browser image (small one)
2edb8f1b_manila = 128x128 Settings image (small one)
3c8cc224_manila = 128x128 Calendar image (small one)
3ca89548_manila = 256x256 Picture & Video image
472f33c0_manila = 256x256 Music image
maybe I'll exptent the list, when I have more time tomorrow, maybe such a list still exists!?

Ok, there are all the files (thanks to laskarface)

Hi!
Been reading around alot lately because I have found some nice icons i'd like to replace the original ones with.
I have downloaded CFC GUI and imported from phone so now I have a whole list on the left hand side of the screen.
I then tried to find the specific ones that is listed in the post above me, and replaced it with the icon file that I would like, but when I tried to export to phone, it stops manila, FAILS, and starts manila back again.
Tried different ones but can't get it to work, what am I doing wrong ?
Been trying to change the slider bar as well but couldn't get it to work, been at it for days and only managed to change the slider on the lock screen as I found a nice cab that I liked, can anyone out there help ?

Tell us which files you want to change, and we'll help you out
For exporting the files to your device, have you tried with sense disabled?
If this still doesn't work, just copy the files to your device manually (activesync, or disk-mode (and then copy from storage card to main memory). Just don't forget to copy into \Windows and click "yes" for overriding original files.
Or just make a .cab: select right installation folder, add the files, copy .cab to device, install and... that's it

Hi Degake and thanks alot for your reply!
The icons I wanted to change were the slider bar icons and also some of the quick shortcuts on the front Today screen.
I didn't try to disable sense as the software did it before it tried to transfer the files
So basically your saying I just have to copy the .png files (icon images) to \windows on the phone ? Don't I have to edit some registry values or paths ?
I tried to make a cab with HDwall software but without any luck, one thing is that when I open the background picture in the software it has 3G Orange written on the top left corner, and that stays even when I install the file on my phone which is very very annoying and can't seem to find a way to avoid it ?!
I also tried the slider editor, but after searching around I found something about it not working well with sense 2.5+, something with the allignment or something.
I have installed Cookies HQ wallpaper patch and Xda_Developers HDwallS on my phone and made sure that Microsoft framework something something is actually on the phone, but still can't get it to work.
I followed the mini guide that someone put in a different thread, and it kinda works (the background picture on today screen) except that damn 3G Orange that I can't get rid of (I live in Denmark and we don't even have Orange lol )
Thanks

If the files you edited are .png files, you could just copy them back to your \Windows folder
If the files are png's you exported from manila files with cfc, you first have to import them back to manila files, and then copy them to your \Windows folder
Just don't forget to make a backup of the files you're going to change

I'm thinking that the files I downloaded have different file names vs the ones in the \windows folder ?

So basically if I send you the image I would like as background and the .png icon files, you could make a cab for me ? That would be fantastic!! But the curious side of me would also like to do it myself, you know ?
I'll try to copy the files when I get back home, but I might need your assitance on how to get the Today screen picture changed

Here goes...
Ok so i'm back home and have tried to copy the icon files to \windows, all ok except one which was youtube one, not sure why.
Restarted the phone and no change
Was it really important that I first copy files to storage card before copying to phone memory ?
The icons which I would like to have on the slider bar and quick links are these:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603496
I have downloaded the zip file and extracted it to my pc, just having a hard time getting them onto my phone, or least getting them to show up
The picture i'd like for my background is this:
http://www.newvistawallpaper.com/sports/manchester-united/burning-manchester-united.html
Now I already tried with HDwall but it turned out like the picture that I attached, as you can see it has that annoying 3G Orange on the top left corner and can't figure out how to remove it, it's like it's there no matter what picture I try to do ?!
Would really appreciate your help, and even if I could somehow find out what i'm doing wrong
Thanks again!

Only the manila files (and the .png's or .bmp's that came originally from \Windows) should be copied to your \Windows folder
If you want to edit the icon of programs (and by this, also the icons in the quicklinks) you'll have to use either CSMI or JWMD.
Just copy the icons you want to use into an easy to remember folder (e.g. \MyDocuments\icons), open CSMI or JWMD, select the program you want the icon to be changed, specify the correct icon in your icons folder and apply Soft reset, and everything should be fine
As for the background: I think the screenshot you posted is the preview you get in HDWall? (looking at the "mai 29,2009" date on the screen )
The "3G Orange" text you see is just the operator name (which happens to be "3G Orange" in the preview of HDWall ). This won't be showing on your device (unless you're on Orange 3G ), but will show your operator name
You should try to click on the preview in HDWall it will then only show the background and task/softkeybars
If you want the operator name gone, you'll have to use View attachment Personalizer_2.0.cab (install to internal memory!!) and change your operator name to an empty one
And for the background image, here you go: View attachment 288345.
Don't forget to install co0kie's HQ Patch for this background .cab: View attachment HQWallpaperPatch_v1.2_forManila2.5.1920.cab

Hi,
I know it's a bit late but I had this problem too and the workaround that I use is to force each quick link to pick up a png image as the icon.
* To do this you need to go to HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila/Home using a reg editor
* Change "IconPath". Set the location to any image you want for each slot (they are numbered from 0-8)
* Restart manila and your new icons will be displayed. For high resolution, use 128px PNGs.
Hope that was helpful.

[Req] How to move Autolock Slider to bottom in WinMo6.5

Hi, is there any programs to move the autolock\unlock slider from top of the screen to bottom of the screen in win6.5 (Manila 2.1). Maybe a theme or something. (I've search and cant seem to find anything so far.)
Thanks for your time.
Regrds,
Schiff
I use HeartofWolf Lockscreen fix v4, with Duttys R8 it works great!
Its an XML type language if you fancy making your own. I've moved mine to the middle, with the clock in the top quarter of the screen and removed the calendar events.
Try it (usual applies.. try at your own risk, backup your system)
Copy the cpr file to \Windows\LockScreen
i have manila 2.1
works perfect and like his one muchbetter
Cheers, will give it a go.

Overwrite both stwater_???_??? in \Windows with the picture of choice. this also changes start menu wallpapers etc.. ??? being 480 and 800 (one for portrait, landscape)
Craig
and also, the clock can be bigger? what should we change inside of LS_LockScene_480x800.cpr?
As in the clock on the lock screen? If so yes, open the .cpr file in a text editor and find a key with a large text size somewhere towards the bottom. You may have to move things around, and certainly increase the size of the background window. I'm not near my pc to have a look for you.

Beyond Frustrated!!! Transparency Cabs!!!

I was told that if I copied over the Manila File 4f914e0d with one that was edited to make the text on my home screen, "CALENDAR" go away but it does not. Does anyone have a cab file for this. When I use cookie's tab to "show when relevant" the date and alarm pops up with a grayish background. Also my clock has clear borders around it!!! I'm trying to get rid of this crap so I can have and enjoy the background I like. I've been up since 9AM EST reading through several posts and installing and uninstalling cabs and manila files to no avail. I NEED HELP!!!!

Yea those two threads do nothing for me. There isn't a cab that removes the "text" 'Calendar' from the homescreen. There is one that removes it from the lockscreen. And there isn't a Cab that removes the "clear frames" from under my digital clock. Also I've noticed where people can edit the word "start" on the top curtain...how can I do this?

Clear frames from under the clock??? Are you talking about the background for the calendar/alarm on the home screen? That would be the first cab.
and the no start text cab is the 2nd one.
If this isnt what you are looking for, please give us a screen shot pointing to what you need.
OK do you
see how this image has frames around the digital clock
Also you see the text "calendar" right below the date and alarm.
I want to remove calendar and I want to remove those "clear" frames around the digital clock. Also its not about removing the text "start" in the top curtain...I want to edit it. See the other picture...
EDIT: I removed the text/word "Calendar" from my homescreen by selecting menu/Edit Home Layout: Then I held pressed "Calendar" and it prompted me if I wanted to remove it and there it went.. Now the only thing ...those darn eyeglass frames around my digital clock and editing the top curtain.
That should remove the clock background fully. It is in one of or both posts I posted in post 3.

Didn't work. Most of the Touch X's i've used do not work. I'm running the new TmoUS ROM on my HD2. Also I do not want to remove that "start" in the top curtain as so much as to edit it. Also do you know of a way besides HDWALL and B4ALL to get the homescreen wallpaper to show on the top and bottom curtains as well...?
Are those "frames" not part of the clock itself and not a background. I think you need to look for another completely transparent clock. I'm not sure which one to suggest, but that's where I'd be looking rather than cabs for transparent backgrounds
Interesting

Try these, unzip and copy files to \Windows (backup the originals first ) and then overwrite the originals. You may need to use Total Commander or Resco File Explorer to do so.
For editing the name on the top I use CHT Editor, but you can also try MaxTTM (look in the Blackstone aka Touch HD section) if you don't use the Co0kie Home tabs mod.
EDIT: I see you also use the CHT Editor - so to change the operator name is very easy, go to - Menu\CHT Editor\Miscellaneous settings> and scroll down to Custom Operator text and edit to whatever you wish
I agree with Clyde. That cab should remove the BG of the clock all together.
I have a stock rom T-MoUS as well, and 90% of the Touch X cabs work for me. so they should work for you no probs. Maybe you have something installed that
does not get along with the cabs.
As for the start text thing.. I dont know if you can edit it. I know it can be removed. Not seen it edited to say something ells. CHT will allow you to change the operator text, just below the start text.
After looking at the second pic again. I *THINK* that is a personal rom that Antonio uses. If that is the case, he has that cooked into the rom like that.
You can also try this to edit the Operator name - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359563&highlight=personalizer

You can try this clock and then just use the Touch X cab to remove the clock frame/background - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=261685&d=1262103604 (Courtesy of Antoniomistretta)
Yea I like the basic clock...i'm just trying to find one without those clear borders. And I already edited the Carrier name right below the top curtain...I just didn't know that was built inside a ROM within the Top Curtain...I thought that was a cab...
Now just to be clear

That zip file contains files that will make my home tab top and bottom bars/curtains transparent so my wallpaper will show the entire length of my display?

No. it will only take away the shaded areas behind the Operator name and behind the sliders. To skin the taskbar and softkey bar you need to use something like HD Wall, or alternatively the volDeus tweak (link in my signature) but HD Wall is a little easier to use. You can also skin the bars using MaxTTM referred to earlier.
I do not

Shortcut/Start Menu pictures on installed app

Where do add-on apps I install store there shortcut pictures? I have one app who's quicklink picture looks way old and out of place, but I can't seem to find the picture on my phone so I can change it and make it look more modern.
Anyone know?
well, to answer you question, i don't know where they are stored.
but to change them, i use Change Start Menu Icon. works perfectly and does the grunt work for ya.
cheers.
I found the problem. The app is hard coded the start menu icon into it's code somewhere (like exe files on your pc sometimes do).
Anyway, I found where programs point to their start menu icons in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\ProgramName.lnk
This app didn't have a Icon entry like some of the others, so I added one and pointed it to a Icon.png file I had made for it and placed in the same directory the program was installed in.
Powered off the phone and then back on and it's using the new icon.
The only problem I'm having now is making a png file with transparency that works as a start menu icon in sense quicklinks. The icon has it's transparency in the windows start menu and when I click to add a quicklink in the program list. But once added to the homepage quicklinks, the transparency section is visible. I don't understand it. viewing it in the HTC's picture viewer also correctly handles the transparent part.
Anyone have any ideas? Here's three screens showing what I mean. The WM screen, the add-program-to-quicklinks screen and the Sense home screen (running CHT 1.7.1):
BTW, here's the icon image if anyone want to take a look.

delete finch.png file: Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher\finch.png
Change icon. Add Quicklink!! OK?
There's no finch.png in that directory. There is a program launch file "FinchSync_SP.bmg" in that directory.
The actual program and icon file are stored on my storage card at
\Storage Card\Program Files\FinchSyncSP
album.cache
finch.png
finchconfig.txt
FinchSync_Core.dll
FinchSync_SP.exe
InTheHand.Interop.dll
InTheHand.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.dll
syncinfo.txt
The default install of FinchSync has the program's icon hard coded, not a separate icon (png) file. If I delete the finch.png file, after a power cycle it goes back to using the default hard coded icon. Put the icon back and it does as I posted above, showing transparency everywhere except as a Quicklink. I've tried renaming the filename and then changing the reg entry outlined above to the new name and same thing.
FinchSynch is an older WM app, but I use it because I can sync my contacts and calendar with Mozilla Thunderbird, Calendar and Address book. I do not have or use Outlook to sync too, so I use FinchSync for this.
I found it. It's not a png file from that directory, but the bmg file.
So it was Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher\finch.bmg
Once I deleted that, it picked up the new icon with transparency.

Ok!! del *.bmg!! Sorry!!
I thought I had posted the screen, but here it is with transparency. Thanks again.

[CHT2 Lockscreen] I SPY

I SPY
I'm sure most of you have heard of the book when you were kids. For those of you who don't know, you basically have a large picture where you have to find specific things. Now it can be your lockscreen
[Look in attachments for image of the lockscreen]
BTW for those who cant find it - the car is on the bottom in the middle
Note: You must have CHT windows lockscreen set up.
Ok there's two cab files and an image file (image = background, cab = lock + remove arrows from lockscreen)
Enjoy!
