Hi guys
I'm writing a thesis about usability of mobile phones, especially Touch/Physical Keyboard.
For that, I'm doing an experiment with people operating the mobile phone (HTC Touch Pro2). To collect my data I have to capture everything they do.
My question now is, is there a software out there, which log every move they do on the phone like texting? Or at least counting clicks and time?
Do you understand what I mean? This is kinda important for me
I appreciate your help !

never heard about it think it would seriously impact the performance of the device
as IO is not that fast on these devices
and if one look at how many cpu legs connect directly to the screen
well there are programms out where you can control your device via bluetooth or usb from your computer. you see on your computer the exact device and what moves you are doing and you can record it. so i thought it could be possible to log this on the computer (not the device). so there wouldnt be any performance decreases right?

Hi guys, im fairly new to the WM scene, but have finally customized my Xperia X1 to be just how I want it.
This brings me to this question about security.
At the moment what worries me, is if I lose my phone or someone steals it. They would have access to all my information, my contacts, my software, my emails, passwords and other such personal information that I would rather not give out. Obviously the safest solution would be to leave it in the house, but that's something none of us want to do!
Now I was thinking about encrypting the Internal memory and the memory card so that the files could not be hacked or looked at by prying eyes when connected to a computer for instance. But I couldn't seem to find any software which would do such a thing. I currently use TrueCrypt on my PC which stops nearly everything.
What I really want to do is the following:
1. Password the device.
2. Encrypt it, so that the files cannot be taken off or read.
3. Automatic password lock after 1 minute.
4. Stop files being accessed through a PC (by others of course but not myself).
5. Any other methods people could access the phone with a computer, flashing and such tools to get into them.
I know the memory card has encryption to stop anything other than the device reading the card. But this doesn't work on mine for some reason as I can plonk the card in a reader and get access to all my files in various computers I have tried.
I realize it will never be truly secure but let's be honest. The average thief wouldn't exactly know how to hack into a phone and access it's files.
Now im not fussed if say for instance it was stolen, the thief flashed the phone and used it for themselves. At the end of the day, they've got the phone, wether they are using it or not isn't going to make a difference, but making sure they can't access the files is a top priority.
One of the main programs I worry about is these "Wallet" programs that you can get. They are very handy for storing all your card details and such on, but are they truly safe? That is what I wonder.
Any replies would be really appreciated as I always worry about losing my phone at the moment due to it having no protection!
Are there any suggestions anyone can make to me?
Anyone got an opinons on this? I was hoping for a reply.
Hi vmrmic,
I know that Check Point has a encryption solution for Windows mobile since I work there
http://www.checkpoint.com/products/datasecurity/mobile/index.html
Check supported devices:
www.checkpoint.com/supportedhandhelds
X1 is not up there but it works fine. I have tried it. Officially supported in a couple of weeks
Note that this solution is intended for business and not a one by one installation
If you have more questions find the forum on checkpoint.com since I don't always check this forums.

Not every thing your asking for but a great solution

At least I think it must be a resource leak. I have multiple WM6 devices that all behave the same way when my application is run. After a while, maybe 15 hours, they gradually deteriorate and refuse to start other applications. At first, it will just be an application like Opera that will not start. Eventually, things like File Explorer will also not start. When I say they won't start, I mean that I get the "not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found" message.
My first thought was that there was a memory leak, but according to the output of GlobalMemoryStatus, the system's memory use is not increasing over time. Then I thought that it might be storage space since I'm generating a big log file. But the storage space still sits above 60MB when this happens.
Restarting the device gets everything back to normal. So far, this is what I know:
1. I'm using the RIL. I noticed today that after about 12 hours, I stop getting RIL notifications.
2. I'm monitoring memory with GlobalMemoryStatus, but the available physical memory doesn't seem to be decreasing over time
3. The thread count remains constant for the life of the application
4. My storage space is decreasing, but there is still over 60MB available when everything starts to go wrong
5. In the end, the device winds up with the screen lock on, even though it is not configured.
It seems that there must be some kind of resource leak. The only other thing I can think of are kernel resources. I tried to rule out things like event handles through static code inspection, but maybe there's something I'm missing.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I would troubleshoot this further? I'm using VS2008 and a Tilt2 and an HTC Imagio (it happens on other devices as well).
I tracked this down to a registry handle leak. What bothers me is that I had to do it by static code inspection. I just looked for things like CreateEvent, RegOpenKeyEx, etc.
Since this didn't seem to show up as consumed physical memory, does anyone have any methods for inspecting kernel resource consumption on Windows Mobile? Do I have to rely on KITL and Platform Builder with the emulator? I'm hoping that there's some way I diagnose this kind of problem with a real device. From my perspective, the device just started to fail and there were no external indicators to warn me of the impending failure.

My question or rather my pleed for answers does not just pertain to android os but I have relied on this site for many answers and have always found a solution just from searching around on here so I know there are very capable members on this site that can help. My problem began over 4 months ago when my home computers were compromised. I assumed it was just a simple virus but soon learned that someone had actually hacked into my home network for what I believe is or was an attempt to retrieve trade secrets. Shortly after i realized that data was being sent to someone through the fax system on my pc and data distribution software had been installed along with a large amount of .dll and legacy items, The admin rights were taken from me and the registry was completely modified which disabled me from having any permissions and kept me from doing anything on the pc. I went out and purchased a new router, got out an older pc, and I put a password of around 20 mixed numbers and letters. 5 minutes after I had set up the new router and pc I noticed through the network map that there was someone else on what I assumed was a secured network. The router was a netgear. First thing I done was change the default password and block any remote access in the network wizard. My next step was to pay the so-called experts (Geek Squad) to solve the security issue. I purchased their 1 month special that entitled me to 1 month of tech support and 3 free pc fixes. after purchasing a windows 7 restore disk I took 3 pc's to a local Geek Squad location to have them restore the Pc's and install what was suppose to be a hack proof software. They only fixed 1 pc, told me the software would keep the hacker out. 5 minutes after i logged into my network here comes all the windows updates (around 50) along with numerous programs. Needless to say I lost my admin rights within an hr. Here we are now, only using cell phones on my network and I am sure the hacker is retrieving my data off of my g vista d6301. My new email that I set up and have only used from the vista has been compromised and although no logins appear in the history but my vista, someone had enabled POP on Dec 28th. I have enabled the developer mode on my phone which allows me to view the process stats. It states that google play service runs 100% and Google Cloud Messaging runs 100%...I have never used any cloud service on this phone. Another thing is that certain system apps that I have never activated are accumulating a decent amount of data. This phone is used only for wifi and has no service plan attached. bluetooth, email, qrtunnel, near field communication all turn on from time to time. Google play also shows something called clearcutlogger running but was unable to find any info on that. I also installed a mic block that has a "spying app catcher" that logs when a app uses your phones mic while the phone is in sleep or idle mode. when the app is on block mic then there are no problems but when I unblock the mic I get countless log entries that an app with net access has gained access to my mic. Its always the same few apps that show up as a potential culprit so I cant pinpoint exactly what app is using the mic. not sure if any of this has anything to do with someone messing around with my phone, just trying to think of some of the things that could help. There is no doubt that this phone along with a pile of now useless computers have indeed been compromised. What I really need help with is how to get this bastard out of my life and secure my network before the new semester begans b/c there is no way I can have my daughter use her new pc on the network knowing its just going to end up like the rest of computers in my new pc graveyard. I know there are quite a few other sites I could have reached out to but there is something about the comradery on this site that has always drawn me to it. 1 more thing fellas, how bout that one touch root for the LG G Vista D6301's? that sure would come in handy right now lol. My apologies for the long read. Any details you need to know to try and help me figure things out, I would gladly assist as long as my knowledge permits.
I understand that the question or article that I posted is quite vast so I will start off with this simple question. Is there a server that I can disable in the LG hidden menu to stop unauthorized use of my GCM, or any other way than simply just disabling Google Play? I have read a couple of recent articles on how hackers are utilizing gcm to gain access to personal info. I just was curious about the server b/c I see many different server acc in the hidden menu such as ATTLABa, Cingular, Mformation, and Funambol. I wasnt sure if these servers or acc could possibly help or be a potential threat.

First thing you have to be sure that no one has physical access to your gadgets. Second, find a router suitable to be modified with new firmware from http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index or https://openwrt.org/.
In case you can buy a hardware network firewall and with proper installation and settings you should be able to keep away any threat.
A good idea would be to use a good VPN service, that way you can add a layer of security on your networking habits.
Lastly, check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/security/tuto-how-to-secure-phone-t2960077 and if you have any question, ask there.
Good luck
Hi,
I am looking for some help with a problem I am experiencing with a recently purchased Lenovo A936, (Golden Warrior). I hope this is the right place to post.
I bought this smart phone from China and have been SO impressed with its performance, it is fast and has a great camera. However, I kept getting unwanted programs popping up so I installed AVG antivirus. It initially identified some 8 threats about 3 of these threats were apps that were installed by the vendor and were not able to be uninstalled, It was possible to remove the remaining threats apart from one which it stated “1 setting is not secure, the device is running in high privilege mode, it has been rooted”
I think Lenovo are responsible manufacturers so I guess the retailer has put some nasty stuff on this phone, I have been able to use the phone for a few months by regularly deleting unwanted programs flagged up by AVG but it has got progressively worse to the point when there are now 10 threats that cannot be removed and there are some pop ups that seem to have hijacked the AVG as they come up on top when I open AVG making it impossible for me to access AVG. I usually switch off at this point!
Sorry about the rather lengthy description above but my question is can I recover this phone? Is it possible to wipe everything off, (rather like formatting a computer hard drive), and reinstall the proper android operating system – is the operating system available as a down load? If it is possible to down load, how would this be done, get it on a computer and then connect the phone to the computer? I have android 4.4.4 could I put a later version on? If this is done, can I be sure that al the functions will work – for example does it need drivers for the camera etc. I dont really want to reduce this phone to an expensive paper weight but it looks like I have little to loose now as it is not usable apart from the camera.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could offer some advice, (suitable for a not-too-techy).
Thanks in anticipation,
john.
Hello, have no idea where to post this so here it is, if its wrong please inform me.
I know about screen sharing, and mirroring but it has input and response lag, and I'm wondering, is it possible to use a mobile phone as a processing unit for an emulator? This was probably worded wrong, but let me tell you what I had in mind.
My case, lets say I want to play PUBG mobile, there's a way to play it on an emulator, but my CPU is not good enough so I get low fps. I can get a strong phone that can play it easily, and it doesn't have a screen. Is it possible to use the phone and hook it up to a PC and use it as a hardware to drive the emulator, or some similar software?
I can get an S7 edge with a busted screen for ~30$ (man just doesn't know what he's doing), I checked the phone quickly on a PC and its responding fine. I don't need a new phone and I don't want to pay 250$ for a new screen, so this came to my mind.
tl;dr : I want to use a phone hooked up to a PC and play games via it in the best way possible.
I have no idea if this is even possible, that's why I'm asking, "If you don't know something, ask".
Thank you.
