When I recieve text messages, A message icon appears in the top status bar. Now, ideally, untill and unless I read that message, this icon should remain there, constantly reminding me to read the message. But in Windows Mobile in general, even if I just open the Inbox, and don't open the message, the icon disappears.
Is there a way to make it work the way it should?
I'm using WM6.5.3 on my HTC Elfin.
Bumping. No way to do this?

on sending an sms, the icon (envelope icon on the status bar next to the signal strength icon) stays on permanently and on clicking it, states, 'SMS, Message Sent'. I am unable to get rid of it inspite of trying everything, including opening the inbox, deleting all messages there, etc.
This has happened recently after upgrading the IMATE with the new ROM from the ClubImate site. Anyone else facing this problem? Any solution besides of course, a soft reset? Thanks.
are you using pocket plus?
Thanks for your message triparte, actually YES, am using Pocket Plus. Is it because of that? Help Please. Thanks.
YES! if you close your messaging program before the message sent notification comes out.. it will stuck there. Pocketplus will attempt to exit the program before the notification ... after that it then will stuck there
So either let the notification msg appear before closing your messaging program or dont use pocketplus "close program on exit" function.
Thank you
Thank you Tripartite, will do as you suggest.
Hi all,
I have a HTC Touch running WM6.
As I am sure you are all aware, when you recieve a new sms or email message, a popup is displayed at the bottom of the screen, which displays the beginning of the new message.
This I do not like as it obviously exposes the contents of the beginning of the message (especially in sms) which is not very private, esp. if you are doing something on the phone showing other people.
Is there a way to stop this pop up balloon? Maybe just get it to say "New message" or even just make a sound / vibrate but with no popup and the "no new messages" icon will of course just switch to indicating new messages waiting?
Many thanks,
Jon
Hi, i have a german rom, i hope ive translated the way right;
start settings, sounds, 2nd tab, choose messaging new sms, uncheck show message
I have the Touch Pro 2 running WM 6.1. The text message count that sits on the folder in the bottom scroll bar says "4" as in 4 new text messages await in my inbox. Only problem is, I don't have any unread texts. I have tried deleting all of my text messages and making the inbox empty, as well as emptying the outbox, drafts, sent, etc. folders. The count still reads "4". The number continues to go up by one and it only does that when I text the same person and sometimes I will get my own text that I sent to them in my inbox. Anyone know what the problem may be???

I was wondering what the simplest/best start menu bar replacement for wm6.5 is... i can't seem to search for the right thing.
I want to replace the entire start menu bar... w/ teh start button, the time, the sound, and notifactions (like wisbar or gigabar used to do back in teh day)
the reason why i want to replace it is because I don't like how my notifications are displayed. Currently, if I have one notification, it shows teh correct icon (missed call or email). But if I have 2 notifications, it shows the generic "notification" icon.
I'd prefer to see separate icons... i.e. a missed call icon, followed by an email icon to indicate these are my 2 notifications.
Moreover, on my phone (ipaq glisten), if I receive an email, the notification will show up on the start menu, but if hte email gets cleared on the server, the ipaq will also clear it (and it won't show up on my today screen), however, the icon remains until i go to the mail app (even though there are no longer any new mails). This is annoying.
Any suggestions? I don't need anything fancy... it's really just the nofications that are bothering me.
Moved as not software release.
i guess my question can be simplifed to:
if i have more than one notification, how can i get them to display separate icons for each type of notifcation (instead of a generic "balloon"/notification icon)?
If anyone has used Windows Mobile Standard (non touch screen), you know what i mean. If i get an email and a missed call, i see 2 different icons on the startmenu/status bar.
my second question is:
if i receive an email, my phone will show the email icon on the start menu bar. this is great. however, if i don't touch my phone (so the icon is still there indicating unread email), and i check the mail on my computer, so it's marked as read, it will also be marked as red on my phon. this is also great. HOWEVER, it will still show the mail status icon in the start menu bar, even though there are no new messages anymore. To clear it, i have to go to the mail app...
bumpity bump... seems like this subforum is dead!
the email thing is still a really annoying issue... after clearing emails on my desktop, and i take a look at my phone, i think i still have new emails.. but i don't... it's just the icon isn't going away until i go to my inbox.
lol already on the third page... i hope i get banned for bumping again.
really, no one knows of a) a fix for my described problem or b) a program which shows all the notifications?

Click to collapse
I also find this very annoying! Anyone having a solution for this?
Thanks.
One thing that has bugged me with nodo/pre-nodo is that if you have mutliple unread text messages, and you use the notification bar to jump into one of them, you cant go back to the messages screen without hitting the menu button first, and then the messages tile. Is there a fix for this in Mango?
