Ok I am not sure where to ask this and when I search I don't see anything what I am looking for. I am sure it has been asked before so maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I have Tmo Tp2 stock rom winmo 6.1 with Spb mobile shell. I noticed this before the shell addon.
When I receive a picture message it shows up as a attachment. I know this is probably just a windows thing.
How can I receive a multimedia message without having to open the attachment? Like you would on a dumb phone.
Thanks in advance

Does anybody know a way of creating a shortcut to messages and navigating directly to Text Messages. By default it takes you to the last account you were active in.

Do you want to start a new message, or just open the SMS inbox?
V
Start a new message.
Thanks
I've got an app. will post it later, hopefully tonight. Still at work.

This should work if you put the link in something like Pocket Plus.
Unfortunately as WM2003SE upwards you can't specify whether it is SMS or Inbox or MMS etc, so you will need to make sure the correct account is already selected before using the links.
To edit it, open Notepad and drag the file into the window, then change the name in the To section.

Guys, I've posted programs to quick dial and SMS from shortcuts

Tell me how it goes!

PS Anton.Valleyman - these work on the same idea, but have a nice message box on no command line!
Thanks Vijay, the cab responds with not a valid ce cab file. I am trying to install in on a XDAIIs with the latest Rom.
Thanks

Aye, though if you've got Pocket Plus you can create shortcuts to the .lnk and it does the same thing as your prog, but only with the inbuilt icons.
I've got about 15 of them as a separate tab of P+.

Ahh "-transport"....what a wonderfully logical name for it...
Bloody programmers, some give the rest of us a bad name!

pearler - I'm not sure if anyone else had a problem with the cabs, but I've linked directly the executables as well. You'll need a way to make shortcuts though - gsfinder is my weapon of choice.
Ant: yeah, "transport". Who'd a thunk it? [Programmers' joke ]

Hi there,
I have had a couple of WinMo devices and like to keep all my text messages.
Everytime I do a hard reset or get another phone, I make a backup with SMSBackup and restore them using this program too.
The problem is that the older messages aren't shown by windows in the thread mode (also not in fe. PocketCMContacts).
These messages come from a winMo 5 device...
I can see the messages when I disable the thread mode, but I find the thread option better and would like to use it.
Does anyone know what I could do to make these messages show in thread?
Is there a conversion needed?
thanks in advance
Maybe this guide will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420564 ??
It's for PIM Backup but it might be the same root problem with WM Threaded SMS's.
Thanks
Dave
Thanks for the info. Have just tried this, but now the messages show in thread (not all of them, the ones from windows mobile 5 are in the bottom seperately...) but can't view them.
If I select a message, I just get a blank screen with the date and time of the message, but the messages aren't displayed.
If I use fe. Vito SMS Chat, I can see all the messages and they are set to the correct person, but the default windows message program and pocketcm apparently don't recognize them..
Annoying, so if anyone else has had the same problem and has it resolved...

I'm not a techie, by any means. I have the HTC Tilt (8900, I think?). They keep advertising the "threaded SMS" messaging with Windows Mobile 6.1...but mine won't do it? I have the most current/recent ROM version (I did check my phone for that), but all my txt messages look like emails. How do I fix this? I want my messages threaded, but don't know how to get it. Thanks for any help!

It can be possible
Search for Advanced confing and install it, you´ll have much more options than just switching to threaded mode
Hope it helped,
Hi guys, I had a HTC S710 running windows mobile 6.1 - that you guys hacked (New phone comming soon - S710 broke:-() and I wondered if you could make a few things clear for me?:
Firstly, I set up my hotmail and a few other email accounts, and ever since when I went the reply in threaded text I got two error messages, one of which saying "This account is encrypted. Please try again on a different account..." (Something like that - definatly to do with emailing but its been along time I can't remember exactly!), and the only way I could text is too read it then go back to contacts and send from there! Is this a common problem/has anyone else had this? Is there a fix?
Secondly, my new phone will be running windows mobile 6.5 and I just wondered if the same thing will happen on that. If it will is there a fix on WM6.5?
Now, I like threaded messaging but if there is absolutly no other fix, I dont mind living with out it!
Thanls

Thankyou for moving my post for me, I wasn't sure in the first place! Sorry!
Two questions really.
If I knew where to get a manual (can't find one anywhere) I'd not need to ask the first question:
OK, I've received an SMS which I want to forward to someone that isn't in my phonebook. I can hold-press the message and select 'forward', but instead of being able to put the number in to send it to, Hangouts pops up (which is the ****tiest text app I've ever seen, btw) and makes me select a contact. Because there is no contact for this number, I tried creating a new one (although I don't want a contact for this number) but when I put the number in, it won't let me save it; I've tried pressing enter but nothing happens. This is the single most frustrating thing I've found with KitKat so far.
In fact, I have another question:
Can anyone recommend a decent SMS app? Really, hangouts is truly awful.
