data destroys battery - Touch Pro, Fuze General

so my battery life id say is average it may go down about 5 pct an hour with average use as in just texting or messing with it but no calls or internet.
when data gets turned on i often lose about 7 percent in 10 minutes.
im on 3G so obviously some drain is expected but this is absurd and didn't happen in the past.
any ideas?
or where have people found the best deals for batteries maybe i just need a new one

thats not obserd thats normal lol and ur lucky if im txting like all the time my battery may last maybe 3 hours lol

You might want to consider changing your radio version.
Out of intrest how old is your touch pro? I've had mine 18 months and the battery life over the past month or so has been degrading rapidly. I find that if i play a game then i get about 30 minutes battery life and web browsing kills the battery too in 2 hours. expansys or handtec should have replacement batteries available.

i just updated rom and radio and hasnt been a noticeable change.
i got it the day before it was released on att back in november so about 13 months now

yea i know what u mean i cant even get 3g to turn off and there is no 3g in my area only max edge if i am lucky

Battery life?

Hi there,
I notice now for a while that the TyTN II has incredibly short battery life.
I've got a few questions about that. Are there ROMS out here, with which the battery life is longer?
And are there batteries out there with a higher capacity than 1350mah, but who still fit in the TyTN II without the need of a new back cover?
Thanks for your time
Regards,
Dennis
Although I don't have any answers, you are reading my mind. Hopefully one of the 'gurus' here have some answers!

You can read the posts under Kaiser accessories, this will help you find extended life batteries. I know there are a few posts there. As far as the Roms go, the fewer programs you have running the better off you are. I know active sync is a huge memory hog. I am using XDA live 1.3 and is great but it is for AT&T. I wish I could help YOU out more- trust me.
I switch from 3G to Edge when I am not browsing. My battery life greatly increased and I do use direct push.
-McMex
So the XDA Live 1.3 is only for the AT&T Tilt? Not the TyTN II?
Anyway, besides this, I don't use 3G. Even without using the internet on my PDA, the batterylife is soooo darn short!
I have WM6 version 5.2.1921 (Build 18521.0.7.0), with latest Radio.
All the battery options I see here above 1600mAh, make the TyTN II bigger as far as I know...
regards,
DM
You don't use 3G did you shut it off? Can you elaborate a little on short what is short to you one full day?
-McMex
Does edge use more power than normal GPRS?
Thanks!
Hi Martin!
Thanks for the tips. I will check out the area you suggested. I think I need to stop watching my slingbox on my Tytyn II ... I'm sure that would save me a lot of juice . I just can't seem to live without my American TV!
I think I will just buy a spare battery to swap with. I don't want to increase the size (or weight) of this thing any further!

As far as I know I shut it off. Under phone settings, I switched to GSM.
On a full day, hard to say. When I use the device "now and then" to lookup appointments and make a few calls, there's a quarter left at the end of the day.
Whatever I do, I need to recharge it every end of the day. It's a huge difference compared to an older Hermes device I owned.

Dennis
Yeah, same experience here as well. Very very disappointing indeed from an otherwise great PPC!
I stay on 3G all day with Direct Push (about 60 messages / day) and about maybe an hour total of phone calls / 2 days and I am able to stay on for 2 complete work days (i.e, remove phone from charger Monday morning and not have to recharge until Tuesday bedtime).
With Edge only, I only last until the end of the same day.
Signal Strength is key. I get full-bore signal strength on 3G at home and work. I get 1~2 bars of EDGE at the same locations...

Interesting... I'll try setting my phone's "Network type and GSM/UMTS band" both to "Auto". I switched to GSM, because the signal strength seems rather low with 3G for some reason... Besides this, I've been told that 3G consumes more power?
Cheers.
my battery on my tilt goest down to about 88% by the end of a day with me using it marginally...(checking time, text messaging, not too much talking on it though)

So it the end of the day you battery is at 88%? Or are you saying it losses 88% by days end? If the former, WOW... at that rate it would last you about 8 days!
Do either of you sync you phone to a PC during the day?
I get about 2 full work days as well with normal usage & about the same number of emails. I also keep bluetooth on. All in all I'd say that Kaiser battery life is better than Hermes.
I can get about a day and some change on one charge. But I don't think it was better than my Hermes. I usually charge my phone before I sleep< but even at 100% my tilt is around 89% when I get up after about 7 hours sleep. My Hermes would still read 100% and yes i do understand Hermes operates in increments of 10. Do you think the poor batter life can be attributed to the lack of ATI Imageon drivers. Since now even the simplest of rendering has to take up valuable cpu cycles, which could have been handled by the dedicated video hardware.
by the end of the day its at 88% sorry for not being clear, I dont sych it very often...just to add music or to toss a new rom on there.
Same for me. I had some issues with cooked ROMs with older radio...used to last about a day max. Now, I'm on CUSTEL's latest ROM with the latest radio. Not sure if it's the ROM or the radio software, but I'm on pretty much 2 full days. I'm right on 3G/Edge margin area...gets about 3-4 bars with EDGE, about 1-2 bars with 3G / H. Goes back and forth. I get about 100+ emails a day via continuously connected Direct Push on top of normal phone call usage.
So far, I'm pretty happy with the battery life. Definitely better than my 8525.

What the hell am I doing wrong?? I barely get though a whole day without charging. I only use my slingbox a bit and am on Wifi most times. I have my settings to automatic but think I usually connect via GPRS vs 3G when I'm not on wifi. I don't even have my bluetooth on
I am using the standard HTC ROM on my HTC Tytyn II that I downloaded from here and flashed (all by myself thank you). I needed WWE but my phone came with Swedish.
Sorry to hijack your thread, but I need answers!

serious problem with vibrant

Hi I have bought vibrant from ebay and using it for about week now
and it has serious battery problem
first of all
right now i am using official updated 2.2
but even before updating there was battery problem so it;s not 2.2 for sure
so i downloaded app called battery minder which gives me % and how many minutes left on my phone
so here is the problem comes when i fully charge my phone
no wifi, no blue tooth, no gps, data turned on it shows i have about like 6 hrs
and when i turn my wifi on and when it;s connected it says i have 18 hrs or something
and when i just turn my bluetooth on without wifi it gives me like 1 more hr from 6 hr so about 7 or 8
and when i make my phone to airplane mode it gives me 22 hrs or something
and the minutes showing on there it;s pretty accruate
so is there way to fix it? and even if there is way to fix it airplane mode and 22hrs i think that's way too little
or is that supposed to be
i don;t know how other ppls battery is so that's why i am posting here
please please help me
i love the phone but battery is just not right
and my point of view right now i do not think it;s the battery because when i turn my bluetooth on it gives me more hrs...
so please help me
i think longest i used in one day is like 8-9 hrs
when i didn;t really do anything with my phone...
maybe i played with it for like 1 hr maximum...
that's maximum usually 6 hrs or 5...
please please help
oh and i tried pulling my battery out and everything...
factory reset...
one last question if it is the battery if i change my battery get it from ebay or something which one should i get if i get those cheap ebay batteries will it damage my phone?
please help thank you so much
The battery drain was fixed for the Vibrant a few builds back. It should only be draining when your screen is on and you're actually using the phone. You may be expecting too much out of your phone. Those who report 14+ hours of use usually get that because they barely touch their phones all day or use it mostly for texting which takes very little battery life.
Dont rely on battery apps. Just use and enjoy your phone.. If you need, extra batteries are cheap online.
are those cheap batteries good?
will they damage my phone?
i see on ebay that like 3 batteries are like 10 dollars...
is that trustable?
and also i am not trying to expect too much it;s just that
when i turn my bluetooth on i get more hrs and i don;t know it;s just not right to me
and when i didn't use my phone at all i had like 40% after 12 hrs
when my friend uses iphone 4 and had 86%
is that why android sucks so much?
I have 2 ebay batteries and have had no problems with either.
thanks for that comment
i guess i will order but i still can;t figure out this battery problem..
You can try reflashing your ROM. But I really don't see a problem. Your phone has a super amoled screen which eats tones of battery. Being connected to 3g eats more battery than wifi, etc. You may just be expecting too much out of your phone tbh.
but that same for the iphone
my friend and i had class so oviously we couldn;t really use our phones
and after like 12 hrs later
he had 86%
and i had 40%
since i didn;t turn my screen on that much
that means i didn;t use the super amoled
and we both were using 3g
so atleast it should be somewhere near iphone
You can't make a direct comparison like that. Your phone and your friends phone have different operation systems, different amount of processes running, different hardware, and different batteries. Not to mention different signal strength which also effects battery life.
thank you for reply i understand what you are saying but
i just don't know
if it;s like 20 % difference i get it..
but 40%?
even though it;s different phoen and different system
it;s way too much..
you can compare mac and window with same spec
it;s not going to be that much different
40% shows me there is something wrong..
If that's what you wana believe. Maybe you should get an iPhone then.

Battery life issue

Okay well it's saturday now and my battery still sucks so much, I went to t-mobile and he installed a good task killer and power save mode toggler... Hey it got better!! But what happened? Still the battery life is depleting.
So I called t-mobile and said I can go exchange it for another phone... problem is most t-mobile's are sold out near me, so I have to wait again.
Also, I master reset it just in case it was one of the many apps that I had downloaded.... Actually, I think the battery is WORSE than what it was. God help me.
Does anyone know what's my issue at all? Could it be that something is wrong with my phone? I might actually go exchange it tomorrow in the city (new york city) where they have many in stock.
I've read a few places online where people had witnessed the same issue and they returned it for a brand new phone, and they said their battery was a lot better on it.
yeah my battery life is pretty bad too
everything else is perfect though, so guess I cant complain too much
My battery life is great. Best battery life I have had yet on a smart phone. I can go 12 hours with moderate to heavy use and 20 hours with light use.
So i'm assuming I have a defected phone or battery issue? Because with very light usage I really only get maybe 7 hours rofl

Today I used my phone heavily and it remained at my work the entire time on 4G.
..I sent about 15 emails, 30 text messages and 30 min of Voice Calling.
..Browsed the market for about 30 minutes
..Browsed Facebook 30 minutes
..Browsed Google Earth for 15 minutes
..Played 20 minutes worth of Flash videos
..Played Fruit Slice, Flight Control and Dungeon Defenders for a combined total of 1 hour
..Messed around with various other apps and tweaking my device for a total of 2 hours.
I took my phone of the charger at 4:45am and when I got home from work at 3pm my device still had 14% of juice left. That was after about 5 hours total usage and 11 hours of standby. I am happy with that.
Root your phone with super one click. Download bloatware freezer from market. Freeze wifi calling, and other t-mobile crap, uninstall latest maps update.

O3D from GumMobile UK, faulty or has to be like that

I bought my o3d from gum mobile UK, after month and a half daily use, I'm worried if my phone is damaged or not, I have 3 batteries for phone now to survive day at work. When I listen music and use MSN, battery dies after 4 to 5 hours, recently started to happen weird stuff with 2g network, I used to use 2g only option to save battery but now my radio signal is 1 to 0 like week ago I had it all the time at 4. Phone is Simfree and I use o2. Yesterday my 2g network continuously swapped between e to g every min causing my phone staying without signal, so I had to use 3g to get atleast some network signal, its at 0 to 2 on 3g but also was at about 3 to 4 before.
My battery drains like 30 % per hour when playing dungeon defenders 2 and when I'm on standby its about 5 to 10% per hour, I changed LG home to go loader ex to fix Android system to use 60 % of battery but battery life still hasn't improved.
Anyone experience same issue and how good are gum mobile UK return faulty product policy ?
H.
Seems about normal that, battery life is not that good then again most smart phones don't last much these days.
Since you had the phone for a while they might tell you to take it up with lg if you are having issues.
But I don't see it as faulty, though
Today started to happen complete madness with phone, since I'm using 2g most is the time, today my sister couldn't call me neither I could call her back while with 2g network with 3g I could call and text her but when I also tried to call friend of mine who stood next to me, I couldn't because some weird error occur saying that connection was impossible to made. Has anyone experiencing samelately?
I'm on o2 and such weird stuff started to happen few days ago. Is there problem with phone or It's O2?
Hey there,
I'm with O2 as well and my 3G is ALWAYS off and I've never had this problem.
I'm in London I dunno about you.
Perhaps your region isn't so go with 2G?
I mean I dunno for sure this but I have no probs here with my 3G off.
And the battery isn't the best of this phone, but you can do some stuff that might help to improve its life.
At work, where I have access to internet, I switch off the Wi-Fi from my phone and that has helped a lot!
Don't worry your phone shouldn't be a problem. Try to restart it to see if it helps or something.
As its only just started happening then give O2 a call, perhaps they have a problem in your area.
Even if they deny it I would be inclined to give it a week or so before worrying about it being a problem with the phone.
I also have doubts about 2G saving much battery power compared to 3G on the Optimus 3D, as it uses so much power idling anyway. I have tried my phone overnight in airline mode, 2G and 3G, it doesn't seem to make a great deal of difference unless you accidentally leave messenger running which really kills the battery.
I not touched my O3D lately as I hate the battery life, picked up a Galaxy S2 last week and I can easily last 2 days on this phone and the choice of custom roms out is insane, take away the 3D side and it trumps the O3D in every department.
I am absolutely fed up with this phone. Have the above isdues and more. I am so angered that I paid for this piece of junk a efin premium price on a contract and now I'm stuck with this phone. Battery life is unbelievable. Never once had it such lousy batterylife with a smart phone. I have to reboot this jubk phone every then and now to work with it. LG u make me sick.

[REF] Batterylife results of i727 Skyrocket

I know it has only been out for a little more than a day, but curious on what sort of battery life people are seeing on the Skyrocket.
Thanks
Just got mine about an hour ago so I will report back, what I can say that LTE is amazing.
I had it since yesterday... however.. I had a wakelock issue.. so mine never went to deep sleep till I found the culprit..
but so far so good. it's very similar to the OGSGS2 (I owned for 28 days)

Not just on LTE. I'm constantly getting 7-10 mbps on hspa+. Never ever seen that speed on any of the so call 4g phones on at&t till now. I did a speed test at 3 in the after noon where I usually was getting 1.5 - 3.0 on my ogsg2.

They are reporting a full day use with no problems.
"The battery is larger than the one on the SGSII by a good margin, the better to supply that power-hungry LTE radio. Though most of the time I was on HSPA+, the phone lasted all day and through an idle night with 30% battery remaining, a solid showing."
Another review: http://www.phonedog.com/2011/11/07/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-first-impressions/
"Skyrocket brings a rather large 1,850 mAh battery to the table, and it shows. If you're a road warrior or someone who's away from an outlet for an extended period of time, this may be the device for you. With moderate use including some calling, text messaging, browsing the web, downloading apps, and running Quadrant Standard tests, I was able to make it through the day and well into the evening before a recharge was needed. On a related note, I've chided Samsung devices in the past for taking too long to charge, and that seems to have been improved upon. "
(woot 100th post)
have to say it has Great Battery life.....probably the best on a phone that i have had so far. again its still new. but i get a full day of use and still have 30-40 percent done by the time i hit the pillow.
im impressed especially since its an LTE phone and everyone kept yelling----IT WILL BE A BATTERY HOG.
nope
my wakelock problem was with FriendCaster Pro. After stopping the app a few times it release wakelock and it's properly going to deep sleep
As for battery. I finally got a "full" day of use. from 10am to 11pm I have about 19% left. That included GPS use for about 15mins, watched a movie on NetFlix (A Knight's Tale) and about an hour worth of 3-way calling and some texting.
I have Background and Auto Sync on with K9 email polling every hour for one of my POP3 + and 2 IMAP account is pushed.
Polling calendar using Calengoo every 3 hours
Honeslty no issues at all. I use my phone for txt calls web all day for work had no issues at all. I don't have Lte in my area but occasionally travel to areas that do. No pixel issues either, yea its bigger but nothing noticeable.

I wish I could say the same. 12 hours later my phone is down to 10% from full charge.
Guess I will pay AT&T a visit and see if they would replace the battery for me.
today... i've been on battery for 13 hours, 1.5 hours with the screen on, mainly surfing around using LTE, as well some texting. also downloaded a few apps.
37% remaining.
i think that's pretty good.
I've been unplugged for a little over 18 hours as of now, (about 7 of that was idle while I was asleep) and I am at 34% right now. I've used the phone quite a bit today and I would say that battery life seems to be about the same as the original GSII.
Yea mine is no different from the i777 s2. I did however root it n disable some junk. I'm sure that had something to do wit it.

Yes quite respectable, granted my iPhone runs forever on a charge but it's pretty good. Also I had read that the phone will turn off the LTE radio if it's not in a LTE area, opposed to other networks.

This is from my first day with the phone, you can see it was idle for the first 7 or so hours while I was asleep, then what I would consider pretty heavy use, being my first day with the phone.
This is what mine looks like after 2 hrs
why do I think my screen is at 51 how high is your brightness? Just figured out that automatic screen brightness is set to certain brightness turned down maybe will help me get more battery life
