I dont want first, middle, last name. I just want one name.

Hey dudes,
Is it possible for me to have just one name field?
I dont like this first, middle and last name.
How can I fix this?
Can I rename all the names to first name?

I think you need to be more clear about exactly what you are after..
Are we talking about the Contacts list?
If so why not just fill in one of the names? If you only put one it will only show one.

I have a bunch of contacts where their name is split all over first, middle, last name especially these chinese names. 3 words, tan sue jon
First: Tan
Middle: Sue
Last: Jon
so how can I change all of the contacts so that it will take all these fields, combine them, and only store it in First Name.
First: Tan Sue Jon
Middle:
Last:

Reorg Contacts Display Name
Try this little app i've made.
It will make you contacts display FirstName - Lastname.
One small glitch, somtimes i have to push the button more than once in order to update all contacts (i do not find a reason for this...) but it works for me.
I'm working on an improved version that will also allow to add birthdays to calendar and pictures to contacts.

Contacts Last/First change...

Guys I have looked online and on my menus of my pro and cant find were I can change the names around from First/last instead of last/first.

I dont have the same phone but I know on WM6 smartphone when your editing or entering the contact information scroll way down under work phone 100 or something () theres a display as or something field with last , first and you can scroll through the options.

You are looking for the setting "File as". It would be easier if you do that in Outlook (assuming that you sync your contacts with Outlook)

I use a server so I am syncing all the time. The problem is that you cannot set first/last for all contacts you have to do it individualy. On my blackberry I could set it on the phone so I didnt have to change each one.

Yeah, it's the sixth field down ("File As...") when editing an "outlook contact". Tap it and it will give you all available options for the name you have entered. It's annoying, I know. Wish you could just set it as an "overall" preference, rather than having to do each conatct one-by-one.

Question about Manilas People Tab

Hi!
When selecting Contacts to assign to the People Tag only Outlook-Contacts can be chosen but no SIM-Contacts. The "normal" Contact application is showing both.
I have seen this in many (pre Manila) ROMS before but some had the possibility to choose from both Contacts at this point so it must be possible.
Does anybody know more on how to change this?

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable
You can try it, maybe works.
If the key doesn't exist, create it.

Just configure Icontact to be default contact manager.

This does only change the visibility of the SIM Contacts in the Outlook Contacts, not in the Contact sheet you see when you try to add s.o. to the people tag.
Any other idea?

I'm gonna ressurect this thread because i also want to know the answer to the origonal question. I would like to get the Manila People Tab to recognize my Sim contacts. Outlook contact manager and all phone applications already do by default in my rom but when i go to "add" a contact to my People tab it displays nothing as I have no contacts copied to my phone. I did a test and copied a contact to my phone and Manila will then use it but I am wanting to avoid that if i can.

You can change that in settings for each contact, that's what I have done.
I use the setting of - Surname, First Name (Company).

I've tried to search how to organize favorites contacts in manilla 2.5.
By default, pictures are arranged by name and only first name is displayed.
If you haven't picture associated, you will only see first name, so you don't really know who it is!
I'de like to rearrange contacts as i like, does someone think it is possible and if so can you tell me how please ?

Organize your contacts outside of your device, then sync them to your device.

Thank's for your advice Bruce but how do you want me to arrange contacts outside the phone.
The only thing i can do is to change the first name
