downloding htc touch2 working
http://touch-hd-icinhersey.blogspot.com/
Hi guys,
I having some issue with IGO8 version 8.3.4 on my Touch2. If I set the device settings in IGO menu to "backlight always on" or "Smart Powersaver", than I m not able to search city and in the search bar is shown a strange character + I get a strange beep tone. If I set in IGO device settings to "use device settings" than it works properly, but of course uses my settings from WM, which will turn off the backlight after the set period.
I am a little bit frustrated about the issue.
I already tried some things posted for Touch HD like editing the sys.txt but without success.
[device]
Type="ALIAS_TOUCH HD"
sdcard_dsk_num=7
*of course tried with the follow as well:
type="HTC Touch2"
Anybody has the same problem, any idea to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
I also read that this is a common bug in IGO versions 8.3...
Hi,
you can try this sys.txt:
[device]
type="ALIAS_TOUCH2"
sdcard_dsk_num=7
[roundaboutcam]
enabled=0
centery=20
[debug]
enable_buildings=1
enable_roadshadow=1
enable_roadsign=1
show_oneway_3d=1
show_oneway=1
disable_3d=0
show_arrows_on_route=1
show_lane_info=1
skip_eula=1
[map]
show_oneway=1
3d_landmarks=1
3d_buildings=1
3d_buildings_distance=2
3d_dem=1
3d_dem_detail=2
3d_roads=1
3d_tunnels=1
popup_info=1
[power]
backlight_day=90
backlight_night=50
copy/paste in your sys.txt
for me was ok
After editing the sys.txt like above I can search for city but can't search the street.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
igo 8
IGO_8_SD.rar.torrent
to resolve the strange character
in data.zip / config / keybind.txt / [default]
add :
x87="NOP"
xE5="NOP"
Very simple fix...
Open the sys.txt, and change
[power]
backlight_events = 3
That fixes the backlighting and keyboard issues.
(But TomTom 7 is still better if you want proper navigation istead of an app full of useless gimmicks !)
thank youuuu

I tried this solution but it doesn't work. There was no [power] field in the sys.txt but I added one just like you wrote. And I still got the annoying beeping when entering the town and street name for the destination. Of course, this happens when iGO8 is set for baclight always on. Anyone else know what can be done about this?
(TomTom does not have maps for all the european countries. I guess it's good if you live in one of the bigger countries but where I live, iGO is the single app supporting local detailed maps.)

Well I found out that my version of igo was the problem and now that I've upgraded to 8.3.4 (before I had 8.3.2), the solution does indeed work and backlight can be set to always be on without fiddling with the entire phone's settings. [thanks bib*oops for the advice]

Same problem here. But there is solution.
Open the sys.txt in notepad and erase all text and put only this :

type="HTC Touch HD T8282"
sdcard_dsk_num=7
This works for me. I dont know why.

Can some one please tell me, in simple English, how to stop the backlight going out when you start Tomtom with windows 2005. :? Thanks
Take a Hex-Editor with Unicode-Support
Load TomTom.exe and search for the Unicode-String 'Backlight'
Replace all matches with 'Bbcklight' and your Backlight stays on!
I cant find the backlight string??
Is it possiable to send me the TomTom.exe with the backlight already sorted out??
Well, its a unicode String. Try searching for "B a c k l i g h t" including the spaces. I can attach mine to this post. Its from die European Version 5.21 - Upgrade to 5.21 first or it won't work. I'm not sure about it working with American or Australian Maps, somewhere I heard the software is a little different in other continents.
Known Bugs of this Release:
-Skips Map Activation :twisted:
-The file '\My Documents\TomTom\CurrentMap.dat' is not created at first startup. Just copy the attached file to this location(Create the Directory if neccessary, of course)
I cant get it ??? I must be doing something wrong!
I think I will buy a torch :shock:

Hai,
It absolutely works.
When you search with your hex-editor for backlight, try to seach as "textstring" with AND wthout "unicode Latin" + with AND without "Case snsitive search".
Now you can find all the "backlight" strings. I have changed every B for a C and saved the file. Then copy the Navigator.exe back to your PDA and voila: Tomtom leaves the backlight as it is.

No, you'll need Tomtom 7, which you can get from this forum. Tomtom 7 does not work with your version 6 maps, so you'll have to purchase new maps. Yes it sucks. Also, you cannot move your Tomtom services, such as Traffic, over to your TD2. This is because Tomtom refuse to support the device.
Sorry for the bad news.
Personally, I'm so pissed off with Tomtom that I'm seriously considering using something else like IGo.
tom tom
yes i'am not gonna buy the tom tom 7 i'am really mad too
i have igo 8 also then i'm just gonna put that one on my td2

Hey all! On my phone it is that version that works perfectly! If there are problems with the voices, simply copy the voices folder on your memory card!

I got ttn7.915.9196.vga_black_yarda working here perfectly with with Western-Europe 830.2307. It came in my All-programs list and i added it myself to the "today"-screen with comes with your HTC.
Hello
Where should I put the voices folder?
When I start the tt7 they ask me to add a new card, then I go directly on the website to choose the card I download it but then where should I install it ?
Thank you
Voices goes in the root directory of the SD card. Same as the maps directory.
Latest tt7 bought from tt on 4GB microSD does'nt install nor work

How did you do it, man?
I bought the SD-Card TomTom 7 with Europe_1GB maps (825 built 2159) offered on TomTom's website since some weeks.
Neither install, manual install, TomTom Home nor something else works.
The extracted "TomTom Navigator.exe" and also the Home app 2.6 refused to support my O2 TDII device.
Then I installed 7.910.9185 black VGA, but I was only able to download one city map. My bought Europe maps are recogniced, but rejected when I select it through menu "maps change".
How can I make use of my Product code now? Or is there any chance at all?
Please help, or send me some hints by PM.

You have to make a shortcut to windows\startmenu\programs.
You can copy the file and paste it as a shortcut to the programs folder with explorer. If you don't like the name "Shortcut ..." you can rename the shortcut to whatever you like.
If you now look at your programs than you will see your shortcut. There is also the problem of the clipped voice. You can run any audio program except Media Player with a silent audio file, then the voice clipping is gone.
You can also search for the audio problem fix. Someone has made a cab file to fix al the problems in one installation.

Tomtom 6 'memory access violation' ideas wanted!
Had Tomtom 6 (fully legal) working fine on my Kaiser. On TD2/Topaz, whatever I do (soft,hard reset, load from different sources) I get the same 'Tomtom cannot start: memory access violation' msg. Internet search shows lots of people with same prob, but no answers or workarounds. Seems to me might be screen/display related as TT starts to load but with squashed format before hanging. Reluctant simply to buy TT7 in case a) that exhibits the same prob and TT specifically do not support the TD2/Topaz at the mo and b) some people seem to have got TT6 working fine on TD2.
Any ideas gratefully appreciated- might have to have a look at iGo as previous poster suggested, which is a shame as have used Tomtom since v2.
Thanks,
Tony

Although I haven't tried it myself I believe it is mainly a screen size issue, if you use the "WVGAFIX3_BY_Cotulla" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=455974 and change the res TT6 will work.

hi chaps.
had various htc devices - ran igo 8 on mda compact 3 (artemis) and also nike touch plus.
whilst loving the touch plus, no inbuilt gps is a pain and the campact 3 is great but no keyboard for txting and msn.
the raphael was supposed to be the solution to all of this but with no satnav i wight as well sell it. really frustrated and have been trying to resolve this for weeks. i've seen other threads where ppl have offered advice by pm but as a fairly new poster and not wishing to post junk, my pm'ing hasn't been enabled and i can't ask these ppl for help.
Please someone help before i give up and sell my raphael - i really don't want to !!!!! but need satnav and like igo8
You should be specific - what is the problem? igo8 works fantastic on my Raphael, quickly finding satellites and it is very very accurate.
Works great here.
What problem are you experiencing, specifically?
the sd card i have with the software installed fine on mda compact 3 and touch plus but when i try the raphael, it starts install, the progress bar fills and then the installation stops as if it has finished (seems very quick - as in too quick)
the icons are generated to start and uninstall in "programs" but when i select igo, i briefly get the progress icon but then nothing. i've tried altering sys.txt as suggested in other posts but still doesn't work.
i have the rar file if anyone can look at it or the sys.txt file.
as i say, has worked fine on other devices with wm6.1
don't know what other info i can give?????
I've always found that when I make changes to the sys.txt file I have to reinstall Igo so that it copies the new sys.txt file to the install directory....
can anyone provide me with a working sys.txt file - also someone has mentioned resolution settings in the data.zip file - can anyone provide further information on this???

I also can't get iGO8 working on my Fuze. I have TOMTOM Navigator7 working but I prefer iGO8 since I have it working on my Navsoon 4230 and use it often.
iGO/MIO products have superior POI databases, thus the reason I'd rather use iGO over TOMTOM.
I think my problem may be the data.zip file or maybe the version I'm trying to use. I remember reading somewhere that for WM6.1 you need a specific version of iGO8....is this true?
You can check here

maybe you can find your solution.

Tomtom doesn't give any Resolution errors, so it should work for any resolution, but the Tomtom Version Tomtom 7.910
Tomtom 7.910 needs v 8.XXX maps, but you should be careful some map versions are only for PNAs ... You you should download the maps compatible with PDA or PDA&PNA
Tomtom is the best for Europe, but I do not like its simplicity, I like iGO 8.3.X Maps are updated monthly
Tomtom can not identify your device's com ports as well, for example, it may find your internal gps as a bluetooth gps, or viceversa.. So you should search for any kind of gps device in settings of tomtom in case if it does not recognize automatically

I shared QVGA version of 7.910 on one web site, but before sharing I tried it on Htc HD, Htc Diamond, Htc Diamond 2, Htc TyTN II. So these resolutions are, QVGA, VGA, WVGA.
TT sometimes identify your Internal GPS as a bluetooth GPS, I say this information if some can not find their internal GPS, aim is to help to solve issues not to say bad things about TT.
If you have licensed version you may find correct maps, but ones that do not have should be careful to download maps that are compatible with PDA.
Regards.
Anyone has the same problem?
I've tried TT 7.910, 7.915 and 7.916, but all have a refresh lag.. So normally the screen (your position) is updated every second, but at my HD2 it updates in 5 or 7 seconds!
I've tried the internal GPS as wel the COM4 and 9600 baud GPS...
Google Maps works perfect (as far as I can see).
Don't know what to do about it.
Anyone?
Xmoo, The TomTom application works indeed but as soon as it starts it says it can't find any maps and then tries to make an internet connection in order to download maps at www.htc-citymaps but it then results in an error as the webpage doesn't exist.
How do you get TomTom to work with the maps and speech ?
Note: the installation CAB was 9 MB's hardly enough to conatin a full working navigation tool so it's clear that i'm missing data.
TT Maps n voices
black vga cab is 13.3MB - no voices, no maps no htc-citymaps - no joy....
Any help...anyone?

I have managed to get it working, i had to create a 'CurrentMap.dat' file and place it in '\My Documents\TomTom'. This tells tomtom which map to look for.

With WM 6.5 you don't need the TomTom Audio Fix anymore
All 7 versions of TomTom wil work with the HTC TD2.
I have had 7.450, 7.915, 7.916 and many different builds.
Now I have v7.916 Build 9192.
There is a new version of TT
TomTom Navigator 7.918.9193
can anyone please let me know what settings you use for Tomtom 7?
For example, do you select the "internal gps" or "other enmea"? If you select the "Other .." then what "COM" and "Baud Rate" do you use?
I have wm6.5 and tomtom 7.45.
Thanks
It depends what you are using
What is your device?
Do you use an external GPS device?
I use what is in my signature en because i use GPSModdriver i take
other nmea - 9600 baud - GPSModdriver

If you select "Other", choose COM4, baud rate can be 4800 or more, 19200 may be a good choice. Note that some versions of Tomtom 7 do not show properly the list of received satellites, both with "internal Gps" or "Other..."
One most recent version of Tomtom solves this problem and also solves the audio cutoff issue (for WM6.1 users).
Aikon
my device is diamond2 and i have installed tt7.45 on it successfully but i do not get any gps signal.
i was wondering is there any particular set up required for it to work?
No i have the TD2 also and in the beginning i used internal GPS and it worked great accept for the lag.
Go to settings from windows and go to external GPS
in Programs my setting says COM4
in Hardware my settings says None and 4800
in the third tab(toegang in dutch) chek the box
Try to install the latest version of TomTom Navigator 7.917.9186

...try to get outdoor ;-)
Download the latest Quickgps.
How long did you wait?
I tried outside including on top of the roof at work!!! waited for 30 mins, to signal at all!!!! not even one grey bars!!!
I have the TT 7.45, wm6.5 (official). I have run quick GPS a couple of times as well.
I was wondering if it would help if I cohse to install a custom FW like Dutty's.
But I will try to get the latest TT and GPS Mod Driver and report back here on how I get on.
thanks

really strange; I never had such problems; I also didn't need the gps mod driver;
How is tt configured? Built in receiver?
Cyron - which version of TT have you installed?
What settings have you applied (internal GPS, or NMEA with com4)?
thanks
