Speech Synthesizer on HD2 like N95 8gb? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hey guys
I was wondering if there is a text to speech function that can be enabled on the HD2?
I found it handy on my previous phone(Nokia N95 8gb), where when someone calls, the speech synthesizer would read out the name of the person calling. Bit Robotic yes, but handy when driving, as you don't have to look at the phone to see who is calling.
TIA
Ibb

I sugest to use MSVC - Microsoft Voice Command

I can't seem to locate that in the HD2, I'm assuming its an app I have to download?
Thanks

yeah it is, and in my opinion, its not worth it lol

£30.99!
I think I'll be happy to live without a Speech Synthesizer, lol.
Shame its not something built into the OS/Rom.
Thanks for the link [★]

voice speed dial

sorry for new topic here but in these voice speed dials is there one that just finds it in the phone book ala the duo or are they all where u have to program them in, all the ones i have seen u have to program each persons name or whatever in the voice speed dial thing to access em, was looking for something like the duo does and it just finds it when u say a name thats in the contacts, thanks in advance for any help and again sorry for the new topic, but i have searched and searched i may have over looked something looks like what i am asked is, is there way to use voice speed dial without setting up voice tags first?
Voice Commander, either by Cyberion or Microsoft don't require "voice tags". Meaning you have to record something for every name or program you want to use. Try looking them up in the other threads (they are discussed) , but even better - read about them from their respective websites. Solving the bluetooth problem with these are my biggest nightmare. So guess life is good if that's the biggest problem!
Cheers

Voice Command sucks so badly..Options?

Cyberon Voice Commander, that came on my TouchPro, sucks so badly.
Not only doesn't it work very well, but the women's voice is so annoying,
I would throw her out of bed!
I liked the older MS Voice Command much better. does anyone know if this progrma works on the TouchPro.
MS Voice Command works great with Touch Pro...AT&T actually includes it with the Fuze.

Extracting a program from a certain phone that is came with to place it on a phone it didnt originally come with is considering warez.
We all know about warez and links to it on this forum
Forewarning
It is hit or miss with me....goes something like this.
Press button on headset...beep beep
Me: Call George Smith
Phone: Call Bill Smith
Me: Cancel
Phone: Cancel
Me: press button...beep beep
Me: Call George Smith
Phone: Call Jorge Symth?
Me: Cancel
................
20 minutes later
Me: press contacts locate George Smith, hit call.
Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes, it thinks I can't speak English.
Comical, but that's been my luck with voice dial, "you talk, it types" programs etc...Speech is a strange thing. I'm sure it will get fixed one of these days,
but there are so many variables with speech.

1. Is there any way to completely delete Cyberon Voice Commander from my Touch Pro.
I would like to do this before I load MS Voice Command.
2. DeniaL, I've got a store bought copy of MS Voice Command v. 1.5.
Do you know if this version will run on The Touch Pro?
3. Does MS offer a free upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6?
I think the Voice commander chick is mocking me!

1. there are some custom made ROMs out there w/o this annoying Cyberon thingy - but remove without reflashing: nope. It's burnt into ROM. But after installing MSVC, deleting an existing pairing with your Headset and reconnecting it's quite gone. MSVC has taken over then. More in the guide down below - and even more in the original thread beyond posting 9.
2. I'm not DeniaL, but in former times there was a very VERY fine tutorial for it from bengalih - Definitive Guide for Microsoft Voice Command (MSVC) on the Kaiser/Tilt 2.0 - it's now partially gone as well as bengalih - respectively bengalih has taken his wisdom with him. -- Originally written for Kaiser but works on raphael like a charm (tested). (original article as attachment below)
MSVC 1.5 is intended for use with WM 5.0, it's very outdated and will not work; 1.6 was built for WM 6.x but works with WM5 as well.
3. Do you believe in miracles? - NO i suppose - and so does Microsoft. But PocketGear has an ---> offer for 10 US$
So long and HTH
EDIT: There are different versions:
US-english, UK-english, french, german, ...(even more?).
Since I use the german one I don't know if the two english versions differ in voice synthesis.

LOL at the video, that's cool. Well, I'm using Vista's voice recognition casually (Vista Business) and without training I get fairly good results. Maybe 'cos I don't have neither an accent nor a dialect. I think results with my spoken english might differ even it's fair enough tho (no ugly german accent)
Other fine results
But MSVC on Windows Mobile may have some problems b/c english is very colorful: kiwi, aussie, oxford, scottish, canadian, north, east, west, south, middle, west-coast, [...] the individuality is overwhelming and there is no option to train (which is a pretty bummer) but that's why there are UK and US versions: the recognition schemes are different.
But as far as I can say a major problem is: speaking too loud, speaking too slow, speaking in discrete words other than in a flow, eating up the microphone... just hold it 1 ft. or 30cm in front of your face and speak just normally - and have microphone auto-amp off. Very fine results for my part. Maybe with a bit more forté --- and in louder environment just a bit nearer and cover the mic with your finger after your last word is said. (...kay... took me three months to perfectionalize that) AND to make use of more nicknames (typed like the spoken name sounds like; helps a lot!)
Just my five cents, hth and so long

Tellme for wm6.5

hi,
just saw this software that will be available for wm6.5.
its a voice activating software (sent texts, make calls etc with voice commands)
www.tellme.com
i think its a sub company of microsoft making it.
it says its going to be available through wm marketplace for wm6.5 phones, but cant see why it wont run on other wm OS's.
anyone got a beta of the software? or any other info
Nice site.. Lets wait and see how nice the program would be..

you can search the net for items and places with a voice command (eg. starbucks or ipod etc)
u can also write texts and send them using your voice.
i think it is the evolution if the ms voice command software (microsoft trying to interwine software together and changing the name so that it seems like something fresh and new).

Read the link it does all that and more.
Are MS ever going to release this then?
TellMe was (I believe) a separate company working on this snazzy voice control software, and I believe MS snatched them up to use as a replacement for MSVC going forward.
"Tellme" is certainly a snappier name than "Microsoft Voice Command." It actually looks like Tellme combines MSVC with the voice controls of the Bing app. I wonder how much overlap there will be.
Tell Me is part of the Samsung Intrepid WM 6.5 ROM. Would be great to be able to install that on my phone. Anyone up for the challenge?
hmmm would really like to install this... any1 with an interprid that would let someone here get the app. dont kno how its done but im sure the smart guys here do

Ditto.
Would love to get my hands on that cab.
TellMe
Tellme's primary business is in enterprise IVR systems and Voice enabled CRM and such. The TellMe Mobile apps including the WN6.5 client and the BB client as well at the 555-tell all agregate the voice samples collected during use to make the voice recognition part of their software more acurate and reduce the need for programming.
Seems pretty ingenious and gives Tellme a huge chance to be a great voice app unlike some apps that leave me screaming at my phone like some crazed person. While it again dials some completely random number from my phone book.
I hope that this exclusivity for the intrepid is short lived.

Dont I wish....so for just reading the site abunch goping for someone with access to the right phone.
on a seperate note all these exlusive deals tick me off. They should just post the app in marketplace and be done with it.
All we need is a ROM dump from the interpid, and we should be able to pull it out and create a cab. However, the phone isn't available yet so we will have to wait a bit longer.
Someone with a Samsung Intrepid needs to port it for us.
yes please
You can get it now, well according to their site, however Im in the uk and thus I dont think i will work for me!....
http://www.tellme.com/you/get
How frickin' insulting!!! Right now, on AT&T, T-Mobile & Verizon it's only available on Blackberry devices! And on Sprint, it's all Blackberry except for one WM device - the Intrepid!
WTF, Microsoft?!
Package here.It doesn't understand a touch screen, but it seems to work.
Hey guys, since I'm such a 1337 H4x0r I managed reverse engineer the installer from PPCGeeks to find out where the installer got the .cab from. Well, it paid off and I found the .cab straight from the site, and you can download it from: http://m.tellme.com/windows_mobile/TellmeSamsungIntrepid3515.cab. It still doesn't work on my Rhodium, but I figured I'd post this anyway, so you don't have to go to download from PPCGeeks or if you wanted a .cab file instead of the installer.

Offline voice recognition

Is there an application that is similar to Google's voice actions application, but offline, for when I don't have service?

Vlingo
Hello girls and boys,
Like you, I was yesterday looking for this frantically as I have just got an Android device as my work mobile and have an old Windows Mobile 6.5 phone (Touch Pro2) as my personal mobile which runs Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 and can do quite a bit without needing to touch the handset (illegal whilst driving in the UK). I have to say; I was finding it difficult to believe that with all the awesome power of a Desire S when compared to the TP2, why is it I can't find an offline voice command application? Google's Actions are great yes, but does it REALLY need server side processing for these commands? I then came across a forum where someone suggested Vlingo and no-one really acknowledged the post. What a great app! Totally free, works with bluetooth headsets and actually does speech to text as well WITHOUT needing to be online.
I suggest you guys take a look as it seems to be a great piece of software that's pretty well written. http://www.vlingo.com

[Q] Speech to Text

Has anyone found a good speech to text/text to speech application that is compatible with the HD2? Some friends have had Vlingo but it is not compatible with the HD2. Thanks
I would like to use such a tool as well - could be a great little helper while driving in a car and whanting to take notes... I'm interested as well!
Yah it will be so useful.. and can save lives !!

I guess you have WM running? On Android you can use its buildin speech recognition.
For Windows Mobile you should have Voice2Go. I 've never used it, but googled on 'Speech recognition for Windows Mobile' and found this. Looks pretty good.
