How to move games icons to Games folder? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi.
Does somebody know how to move games icons to Games folder? (For example "Autumn Dynasty" or "Jumba")

I do indeed
using the file explorer on the phone (these folders dont show up in windows) find the game exe in my device>program files>"folder name of program">
It will be here, probably the icon will be the games icon. Now hold your finger down on that for a few seconds until an menu pops up and select copy.
Now go to mydevice>windows>startmenu>programs>games and hold your thumb down in an empty space until the menu comes up again, and press "paste shortcut"
If you dont get something just ask again

I take it you mean just moving the shortcut icons from the start menu in to the games folder of the start menu. If the icon already exists in the start menu then its pretty much the same as above just go with the file explorer to \windows\start menu\programs "cut" the icon and "paste it in to the games folder.
BTW you can view the windows folder on your pc. You need to connect your phone through active sync then go to "control panel" on your pc, then "folder options" then go to "view" tab and deselect the "hide protected operating system files" Then using phone browser you can view the contents of the windows folder. It is however painfully slow to open and you run the risk of screwing up your device if you go round deleting things but it works none the less.

What so on the home screen, one of the 3 tabs is a like to the games folder? I found one way using resco explorer. Browse to windows/startmenu/programs and then hold your finger on the games folder till you get the menu pop up, select send to> start menu as shortcut. Then go to add a program on the home links and go to programs (instead of bookmarks or contacts) and the games folder will be there, the image will be the resco explorer image with the word games underneath it
Hope that helps, took me ages to work it out lol

Here is a link i created using THIS app. If you copy it to your start menu somewhere (\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.......) You can then assign it to the quick links. What it does is opens file explorer with arguements to take it to the games folder. Basically it opens file explorer in games folder of the start menu.
It does what resco does to create links but a bit more manual and its free.

Thanks! however the send to option is greyed out, not available.

Yes, it creates a shortcut to the games folder, but you can modify shortcuts and change the parameters. Just copy it to your PC and edit it.

Moving Icons Completely
Is it possible to move a games that I download to the game folder neat and clean (meaning without having a bunch of short cut to, short cut to, short cut to)?

Windows Directory
Hi,
Sorry for my stuppid two questions.
Where is the exact win directory and how can you create a shortcut to the application ?
Regds
Henri
Using file explorer.
Make sure you are viewing internal memory, go right to the root. The windows folder is there. (slight pause as loads of files!)
Tap and hold and select copy, navigate to \windows\start menu\games tap and hold and paste shortcut. You can also tap and hold, select rename and remove the 'shortcut to' text.

I giveup, i quit

sorry by my inglish , i have being trying for 6 months to make A folder shortcut but nothing works, i have being reading all the esteps on all the threads over and over , but nothing works.i am tired to try to make i simple shortcut, tired to try to change the estar icon, tired to try to change waiting star icon , i just cant do it, nothing seems to work to me, maybe iam so stupid, KEEP THE GOOD JOB ,
open file explorer. locate the folder you want to make a shortcut to. press and hold on it until the dialoge box pops up. choose copy. next navigate to the place where you want the shortcut to show up to... like \windows\start menu\programs\ press and hold inside this folder and choose create shortcut. Done and done.
you can change the wait icon with wisbar advance 3 from lakeridge software.... and most likely with other applications.
other thoughts:
download and try gsfinder. its a file explorer but better then the original windows mobile one. There is also a file explorer enhancement you can install that expands the capabilities of the original file explorer. you can find all of these with google.
you can try the shortcut manager application.... which will even allow you to create/modify and change the icon of a .lnk file. (you can only change .exe icons by modifying the .exe file directly) you can however create a .lnk file to anything.... and change the icon on that.
you can even... nudge nudge... create the shortcut in a text exitor and save it as whatever.lnk
ie:
\program files\facebook\facebook.exe
save as facebook.lnk voila... there is your shortcut... which you can save anywhere... like to
\windows\start menu\programs\facebook.lnk
and then it would show in your startmenu under \Startmenu\Programs\Facebook
does any of this help? its pretty basic stuff..... dont give up yet...
The easiest-to-use software that I have seen for shortcuts is SK Shortcut Manager.

[REQ] Pasting in Explorer

To paste something in Explorer, you must scroll down to the bottom of the screen and then try to long tap the white space in between the last item in explorer and the black bar with the two soft keys.
I know that for my kaiser, there was a tweak available to make the 'Paste' item appear in any long press menu in explorer. This made it possible to paste an item even if you long pressed on another item.
I can't remember how this tweak was called. I searched a couple of times but I can't seem to find the right keywords.
Is this available for the HD2 and where can I find this tweak?
Help is greatly appreciated. I can't get my fat fingers in the small white space sometimes. Also comes in handy when drunk.

would be great
dont wanna install totalcommander, just want it with integrated one.
thanks,
DN41
Or you could just open the menu and select paste from there
(menu, edit, paste - you may need to scroll the menu to get to edit)
Hey thanks for the tip!
I sometimes don't notice these scrolling menu's. In coreplayer I also forget to scroll when I look for the Blank Screen option. Then I think the option is not there enymore

Does anybody know if there is a way to mark multiple files in the explorer? just works for me as long as the folder has less files than a screen full. otherwise only scrolling works :-(

Very good Question! I have the same problem.
Has anyone an answer?
Please?
It's not possible in the default file explorer I'm afraid. You either want a 3rd party file explorer like total command or resco, or try the file explorer extension here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=421723
I'm not sure if it does actually give you the ability to multi-select, but it's worth a look anyway
@johncmolyneux
Thank you,
but it does not work for me.
Or i don´t know how.
Is here any developer, who can make that:
-you tab and hold any file in explorer
-after one second the file will be maked
-then you have another second to begin to drive your finger over the other files you want to mark
-after your finger stops, the box pops up, where you have the choice to copy, delete,...
Is it possible to program it ???
Excuse me for my english. I hope it is understandable.

The file explorer extensions only add to the existing functionality of the app. What you're asking for is a change to what's already there. You need to start looking at 3rd party apps. Resco Explorer is probably the most popular, but it's not free. Total Commander is another popular one, and that is free. Google can point you at both of them.
Good luck mate.
Hi,
Resco Explorer works.
ThankYou.
it still is a littlebit strange in file explorer. lets say you have 3 or 4 files in your folder then its easy to select all the files because the directory isn't scrolling, but when there are too many files to show on one (portrait) page then you can't select mutiple files because the page is now scrolling. strange...

how too add shortcut link on sense UI home screen?

Hi,
Just got my hd2 (tmobile) day before yesterday and its amazing, i can go on and on about it
on my previous winMo device i had spb mobile shell installed which allowed me to add a shortcut tab "my shortcuts" on the home screen clicking on which would open a window where i could have my favorite programs, contacts, docs etc in one place.
is this possible to do this on the home screen of sense UI, where there are 9 customizable tabs present or is it possible to put a shortcut of any folder on the home screen.
i ask this question because one of tabs on the home screen has a transformers icon on it, and clicking it takes me to the transformers folder on the sd card which has transformers 1 and 2. this same transformers icon/shortcut is also present in programs menu.
i added some mp4 files in the transformers folder on the sd card which has both movies and after doing that when i click on its icon it does direct me to its folder but only shows me the 2 movies not the added mp4 movies.
i hope iam able to explain myself
having a shortcut tab on the home screen which can add a shortcut to a folder would be very helping other than just having the stock program, bookmark, contact options.
thanks in advance.

Touch and hold over an Icon, and drag it off the screen to delete it. Tap to add a new shortcut.
Look into Cookies Home Tab editor to add more shortcuts
Explore folders, find and select program file and hold it, tap copy, now explore windows folder-startmenu- programs- edit- paste shortcut, done. Now you can add it to quick links. If I understand you right.

i have a couple of movies in my storage card and i would like to have an icon on my device to each movie on my storage card, that way i can put them in my quick links ,
The T-MoUS version, has Transformers pre-installed. it has a Transformers icon in the start menu that when selected, it opens a window with both movies lined up in a list type format located in the storage card . Is there a way to create your own?

i had to return mine today at the store because it had a small spot inside the screen, maybe a dead pixel, giving the same affect as you would see when you would sprinkle a drop of water on LCD.
the store reps. were acting up for a replacement saying that even when they get new onces they have already reserved them for new customers, also the tmobile (611) rep told me they would be able to help me had i purchased the phone online
so i returned it

how can i move game icons into the folder

hey all
pls be gentle im not very familiar with this amazing htc hd2 ..
before posting this thread i was searhing for answers in the forum but didnt find any...
i installed some games and apps , but some icons are in the start menu and i would like to move them into the games folder , and inside the games folder to create a subfolder .
how do i do these things ????
tnks !!!
The easiest way is to move them manually as they are only shortcuts (.lnk files) anyway.
I use Total Commander. Navigate to "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\", press the "ctrl" button at the bottom of the screen (allows you to select multiple files). Once you have selected them, click "File>>Copy\Move", then click "Tree", navigate to the destination folder (in your case, "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games") click "OK" and then "Move"
Job done. You can also do the same with File Explorer using the same method in theory, although its cut and paste instead and I believe since kinetic scrolling was introduced in WM, its impossible to select multiple files. I may be wrong though...haven't used it for years!
Use resco explorer then go into windows, start menu, programs, there you will see all the app ext. then cut it and open the game folder and paste it in there. You can do one at a time or more than one at a time.
Shokouhi
thanks alot !!!
thank u guys for a qucik and helpful answer .
