Hi guys,
I want to use my HD Touch to stream music (mostly in mp3 format) from my main pc, i.e. like a squeezebox.
What's the best software which will allow me to do this?
The only thing I can find is "LobsterTunes" but its last release was in 2008
Thanks
I use WMP to run a media server on my pc, and Conduits Pocket Player to access it from ppc over my wireless home network.
Orb...i really think this is your best bet.

Have a load of .mp4 music files.
MS Media player will not play these? any plug in
Other players wont stream via a2dp on my magician.
Looking for a player that streams mp4's to bluetooth.
RE: What media player will stream to bluetooth and play .mp
The Core Media Player with aac plugin . The plugin can be found here : http://www.rarewares.org/aac.html and the player here : http://www.tcmp.org/
hmm This is for windows not a mobile device
I was thinking of mobile device support from pocket media player. under WM 5.0

Click to collapse
Nope, it's not only for windows... you can find a pocketpc download here:
http://corecodec.org/frs/?group_id=53&release_id=225#r225
It's also the only player for pocketpc with decent h.264 playback...
Tried before
Tried this before, nice player for videos, but never got the streaming over bluetooth to activate like it does automatically when paired and using pocket windows mobile.
Tried all latest codecs no joy.
Will try latest program version and downloads.
streeming is not a player issue if the os dont support the bluetooth A2DP profile
pretty sure even wm2005 dont
It works fine from windows pocket media
just want the sound from tcpmp to come out the same way over my headphones , wireless
GDawes: I don't get it. You're talking about both the Magician and WM5? Which one are you using?
To use A2DP on the magician, you need to install a new Bluetooth stack. Check out my app VJVolubilis here, which may help you out, and alternatively, read Chatty's post towards the end (as of now)

Hi, Hoping this one hasn't been posted already - couldn't find it in a search.
I use Windows Media Centre in Vista to record TV shows. I then use Windows Media Player to auto sync those shows to my Pocket PC (TyTN II but that shouldn't be important here).
When syncing, Windows Media Player does alot of (essential) file conversion, which slows down the syncing process. Does anyone know if it's possible to set WMP to do this conversion as soon as the file is recorded, so that when I plug the device in I don't have to wait for conversion?
Sorry I dont' know. I use tivo to record, which transfers to my pc, and from there I stream it using winamp remote.
but you might not have an unlimited data plan i guess
I love my iPhone because it can be my media player and my phone. But, I need more functionality offered in Windows Mobile.
So, do you guys use your Windows Mobile device as a Media Player? Or do you have separate Zunes/iPods/etc. to do the work of the media player?
If you do use Window Mobile, let me know what program you use for your media!
TCPMP is an excellent media player. I have not found an unlocked audio or video file it could not play. If you search for TCPMP in this forum or in the XDA-Developers Wiki you'll find most anything you'd want to know.
That said, while TCPMP is a nice player, it is not an organizer nor does it have a fancy "choosing" function for selecting files. Perhaps someone could recommend an application that makes launching TCPMP more intuitive.
Both have their place
I've got a Zune 30 that I bring along when I know I'll want plenty of music to choose from. My main reason is that battery life on my Tilt is not what I'd like it to be because my 8 gig sd card has plenty of room for tunes, and S2P is one of the slickest programs I've ever seen. You would be comfortable with it immediately. I do listen to Audible content (newspaper) on my phone every morning with the Kinoma player. It's actually easier to get the content onto my phone than to get it on my Zune. Audible's manager program blows hard. The Kinoma player can handle pictures, video, and streams as well. I use it for Youtube all the time.
As an added bonus for us Zune owners, I recently discoverd that ZunePass subscription content can be synched to our phones with Windows Media Player and plays just fine in either WMP or S2P, so I have been putting more music on the SD card lately.
on those occasions when i only want to carry one device then I use S2P to play audio files on my Trinity.
S2P on the Tilt for music, TCPMP for movies. Done.
Is s2p free? What media formats does it support? Is it A2DP compatible? And does it have any way of controlling music in standby mode (Can you click the D-Pad while the screen is off to skip a song??? Can you control volume using the toggle switches?
Thanks for the tips guys!
I use the HTC Audio Manager, which has a very similar interface to the classic iPod. You can use the D-Pad to control it and the volume switch to change the volume (but I think the device has to be on)
It supports A2DP.
You can also control it from the home screen (http://www.unwiredview.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/htc-touch-diamond-official.jpg)
Kinoma Player
I've used this free program called Kinoma Player which is brilliant.
It has full touch friendly interface, it can stream youtube files, supports many other files, it's great overall, even has podcasts.
I'd recommend that program, you can get it off of Windows Mobile Total Access or from Kinoma's sight directly.
Hey, about the ZunePass stuff, my subscription music doesn't work on my T-Mobile Wing. Any clue why? probably cuz of the DRM's but you guys said urs worked, so it leaves me wondering.
Do you sync ur Zune music to your phone using Windows Media Player sync? Or do you just drag & drop the music to ur card?
Sync the ZunePass content through WMP
and it should work. At least that is what works for me.
Hi all,
Today I decide to move my stereo system away from my computer. I have an old pocket Pc with WIFI and want to set up music from my computer and PPC to play it.
I think that mp3 broadcasting is the way and from my winamp will control everything .. and PPC will receive and play stream.
Can you offer my software or better way for this.
thanks in advice.
a way
you can do this by doing remote control over your pc from the ppc and play the music on the ppc.
Hi,
I want have access with my vox (WM6.5 from FB) to my notebook via WLAN and network to get files or listen music (e.g. streaming mp3s with TCPMP). Is there a way to realize ?
After short google investigation I found Resco Explorer for PPC to get access to files on notebook. But smartphone version hasn't that feature.
Any idea?
Regards Odiad
you could try to stream music and videos with vlc player.
if tcmp doesn't work, maybe HTC Streaming Media Player will.
Hi Klownk,
thanks for the hint. If I am try to use HTC streaming..... and I go to "Connect" I have to fill an adress. Can you support me how to fill in:
Example:
Notebook name (in windows): Notebook
IP in private network: 192.168.1.105
Music is in: C:\Music\....... (many subfolders with music files /mp3/WMA)
Networkname (SSID): Odiadnetz
So how to fill in into adressbar of HTC-Tool ? And do I have to fill in every path of each song ? Or is there a way to browse in my music folder structure?
Or can I use the tool only for streaming in www ?
Thanks in advance
Odiad
Conduits PocketPlayer can receive (and even send!) streams. It detects available servers via UPNP. You need to have a mediaserver installed on the PC. I did this once to see if it works (it does) but I don't remember which mediaserver performed best. See http://www.conduits.com/community/forum_topics.asp?FID=19
