Well being a total newbie to Android this is probably a basic question, but ,i need to be able to play WMA files , it appears that there is no native support in Android , probably a licensing issue i guess , so are there any apps that can play WMA files that i can download for the EVO ?

The Evo will play WMA files. Sense music player has built-in support for it. Vanilla Android does not.

when i try to play the WMA file it says "unable to play this type of audio file"
these WMA files come from MS Office Communicator via email , they are my work voice mails... maybe they are a different version or something ?
any ideas ?

Not sure to be honest. All of my music is WMA format and the phone plays it fine. My Nexus needed a mod to play them.

All u have to do is edit the name of the song. Change WMA to MP3 & it will work find. I had the same problem.
What about WM streaming (many radios are streamed using windows media), is there any way of playing them?
I tried that and it still will not work...

my windows media player won't play *.mp4 files anymore.
it used to play them without any problems just click on the file and it will play.
now when I click on the file, it gives me an error; cannot play the file.
However, if I go to the library of WMP, it will play ok.
now the other problem is whenever I play any movie, not all of them will play in landscape although it used to play all of them in landscape

You need to fix the file association for .mp4's. You must've messed it up somehow. You can do it with extended file explorer or total commander.

You had installed some ROM and or program? Try to remember what you installed or changed the last time I was still working to find if it is a problem with ROM or program!
Failing that there are tons of media players out there that should play that with little effort..Check me if you cant find whats going on and i will hook you up..
It's really hard to find a decent SWF flash video player in the Google Play store:
* Many SWF players are not free.
* Many SWF players require a separate "Adobe Flash Player Plugin" to be installed, but the website for this appears to be down.
* Many SWF players fail to register themselves as an activity, so when you select an SWF file in Astro or Dropbox, nothing happens.
What's a decent SWF player for Android? I use v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
I download certain games off the internet in .swf format and play them offline a lot, but is it possible to convert .swf files to .apk? If so, what software(s) can I use to do so?
