About China Mob. phones. with win 6.1-6.5 - General Topics

Dear Sirs,
As far as I can see this site is dedicated to HTC and SE. Please be so kind to unswer: have you got any valuable info about China made Phones ? For Example Sciphone N12 ???
It runs on Win 6.1
CPU: 624 mhz
Ram: 128 MB
Very good phone model with WiFi, GPS, 3.2Mpx maine camera
The question is that I can not connect it to my CPU (Win 7).
I have alredy intalled all possible updates for Windows Mobile Center.
CPU starting to search new devise, found it and then try to install drv. But can not find one.
May be you know the unswer to this problem ?
Note: Schiphone N12 runs great with Win XP via Active Sync. Tested on another CPU.
May be this problem is because of Win 6.1 may be I need to install Win 6.5 ver. Please advise.
Deep thx.

This tends to happen when your usb port is not supplying enough power. This happens on my desktop (which has a P45-UD3P motherboard) but not on my laptop (HP 6930p) Use a cable that draws power from 2 USB ports (like the ones you get from USB hard drives).

I think if it works in xp it's a driver issue have a look on http://www.mysciphone.com/ for the driver's vista ones should do.There is a decent forum there who could proberly help you aswell.

Thank you for your kind attention. Can you pls explain more about doble USB. You mean that there must be two USB-in connected to one phone-out plug ?

I have visited this (www.mysciphone.com) web before I have posted here. No solution from them. But thx anyway.

Happy X-mas

Thank to all of you, for your help.
Please can you link me to a FAQ about how to install Win 6.5 on my Schiphone N12 ? I think the problem is with Win 6.1 and Win 7.

Here we dedicate only to HTC devices so you won´t get too much attention

If it is just activesync it's definitely not an issue with Win7. If you do not have a double usb cable, try a powered usb hub.
You're not likely to be able to get ROM support here because we only do HTC devices. Some other OEMs like Samsung get some attention in the general forums, but I don't think anyone actually works on chinese copies here

Hardware Capabilities are not suitable for running Windows Vista
not even the starter edition
Some people have managed to run WinXp or Win98SE
with a lot of effort and unstable
Regards!
Whaaaaaat !?!?!?! Vista lmao, who told you that or where did you read such a thing ?
Windows 95 and 98se or XP are ONLY started on an emulator, not as pure OS. And trust me, they are slow...but ...if you just want to brag, then yes, you can start Windows XP too..but make sure you start the emulation 10 minutes before you intend to show it
i am sure this person is talking about making a skin to look like vista.
Or flash a new rom from Windows Vista...but his request is ambiguous so...we are allowed to guess his questions

My guess:
He wants to throw his Wizard to Bill Gates for not having windows Vista on a mobile phone.
Hahahahahaha
Hahahahaha, Oh amazing! Vista on a mobile device... Hahahaha.
The sad thing is that there are some people out there, and I wouldn't doubt this person is one of them, that honestly think just because it has the LOOKS of an OS, that it equates to actually BEING the OS.
I have a PSP and dabble in the homebrew world a little bit. I've come across some of the biggest morons on the web who think they're installing Windows Vista on their PSP. See for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJyBAmX4VEo
The guy even mentions that it comes with antivirus protection!

i agree
my point was only these OS has been "run" at a PPC Platform
i tested once at universal (former main device) and it was very very slow, if possible and drivers available (impossible i guess) only win 3.11 will run at a normal performance

the latest WM is 6.1 (released or leaked) as far i know so you can try on that but no fancy aero stuff or anything like the visual honey of the vista
as some of the guys said you can skin your device or install a theme with a bit of vista look
sorry maybe you should get an HTC Shift the only device i know of this manufacturer actually capable of running vista
He's probably saw this somewhere. http://www.smartphone.net/software_detail.asp?id=3006

Can I load Windows 2003 on HTC Touch/Dual /O2 Flame

Hi all,
I have been using o2 XDA and XDA II mini for many years , i tried almost all new phones with WM5/6 and i am very much sure that it does not serve my purpose and work.
Can I buy a new 02 / HTC touch dual or tytn and load windows 2003 on it.
I understand that i will loose warranty etc. but is it possible. pros & cons?
Can i do it ? how ?
thanks
roms are tailored 100% for a device
so if the device maker never made a 2003rom for a device
one would have to start from scratch and maybe
have to reverse engineer drivers if some were requied
and not available in a wm2003 model

if someone really wants to spend money and energy he can,but it would be better to have wm5 or 6 for some devices like magician instead an overcomed 2003 for newer ones like touch dual, pharos, cruise, diamond
and by the way people developing os are trying to make a better os every time, and in most cases they do it, so you get better memory handling, better drivers...faster device if you want it that way
WOW! Why would you want to put a server OS on your phone? lol

do you have a specific for example compatibility problem with WM5+?
I have over 10,000 client contacts on my phone , I transferred data to couple of new phones with wm5 and wm6. All is well till I try to search. When i search for a contact it takes around 5 mins on new phones with wm5 and wm6 . It takes 3-4 secs on the the XDAII and XDA mini for the same. having tried many phones and tools , i assumed that the problem should be with OS. with improved graphics and whole lot of other features which take up the active resources may be the search module does not get all that is required.
MY xda mini 2003 / xda II 2002 have less features ,less graphics so they are faster is what i have concluded from all these experiments that i have done wit new phones.
Thanks

If you compare the search tool with my kind of data, you will understand taht the new OS is not of any help to me. I agree , that there may be whole lot of new features and drivers , But search in a n integral part of the os and don't understand why that should change. and it works superb in earlier versions 3 secs V/s 5 mins to search.
Your problem is caused by a new way of working with memory in WM5+ systems. WM2003 used part of RAM as a storage medium for installed programs and also contact databases were located there. WM5+ uses internal flash instead. Data from flash doesn't disapear when you run out of battery juice. On the other hand it is a numerous times slower. However i cannot imagine the slowdown would have been so drastic. I would advise you trying the fastest possible device with lots of RAM (Samusng Omnia i900 or HTC Touch Diamond). It is possible the slowdown will be more acceptable. If it will be no success you can modify some ROM to use RamDisk as a storage medium. However, there are no new devices with WM2003 ROMs available.
That is the most convincing answer that i have got since last year when i started looking for replacement for my XDA.
After trying almost every new and latest PDAs in the market, I am sure that the new PDAs will not be any great help
BUT your statement - " Modify some ROM to use RamDisk as a storage medium." makes me hopeful.
Unfortunately, for novice like me it ends there. I don't know how modify ROMS, or any place where i can get it done. Even if i get one, i don't know how to load it. Tutorials did not help much, they were just too much technical. I may be a odd one in this developer forum, but this is only place where i think i can get the answer. I am just looking for PDA that is just equvialent to my XDA II and XDA mini
Many Thanks for your response

WM Rom for Samsung Jet

Hello all,
Someone knows if there is a wm rom for the Samsung S8000 (Jet)
I like to hear about it, and i know that this forum is mostley related to HTC phones..
Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks
Greetings
Alex
Welcome to forums
As here we dedicate only to HTC devices you won´t get too much atention, however in off topic there is a thread regarding samsung (another model)
or better try here:

Good luck,
I am suprised noone has attempted to cook a WM Rom for this one, it's just like the Omnia II except small and lighter

Samsung JET have a Samsung OS - so there is no way to cook a Windows Mobile ROM for it.
you mean it's impossible to replace Samsung OS with WM? I am sure it's possible. Has anyone looked into it? What are the obstacles preventing that happening. Is it fundamental?

I agree. I don't see a reason.
Saying that this is not a WM device is not valid. You can load other OS in your phone if it supports the hardware and the loader interface. If the hardware is so similar, it's a matter of analysis...
If I had one, at least I'd try to flash a OmniaII rom (phone+boot+pda).
I'll contribute $$ to the cooker that could provide such ROM for the Jet s8000.
Cheers
One more contributor here! 50USD for someone that cooks a Jet WM ROM.
I bought one to my wife. The phone is great and I would definitely have one if a Windows Mobile ROM is avaliable...
btw... it has the exact same processor and general specs as the Omnia II
About processors i'm not sure... But OMNIA II have 256Mb RAM vs 128Mb in JET. Maybe there also different radio modules (GSM/UMTS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and different video controllers.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english

i'll contribute another 50 USD if there is a winmo rom for this phone
i think there would be alot in interest here, particularly since many xda users would happily flash a WinMo rom if it were available!
I have recommended this model to my brother and he loves it, his previous phone was the N95. Now to get the Jet to WinMo!:

[Q] windows 7 for hermes

hi everyone.
dose anyone have any idea if we can find win7 for herms somewhere?coz i have checked that 6.5 its aweful i did,nt liked that so if anyone can help us all to find win7 for herms that will be nice.
regards to all xda family members
in a word...
no
That is never going to happen for so many reasons, the HD2 is the only phone with a ROM currently, but the Hermes doesn't even vaguely have the correct specs.
Windows 7 is unlikely to ever run on *any* phone, ever, period. Firstly, there is no ARM version of Windows 7 and secondly no phone would be beefy enough to run it anyway.

Windows Mobile 6.5 Needed

Hello, I have been developing android for phones for a while but need to know if there is a way to port Windows Mobile 6.5 to the HTC CHACHA. I ask of this because I want to see the old 6.5 again but on a newer handset. I did like it then and want back now as well.
Please reply soon.

Are you joking? Dont do this s**t, dont put windows wher he shouldnt be.
Windows on phones is the worst mistake that MS do.
I know what you mean dude, but is it possible? I have loads of .cab files to test out on the OS and have been collecting them for years - if they work on the ChaCha I could be on to something.
The OS can be similar of that to the HTC Excalibur or the HTC Snap. It doesn't really matter which - but is it possible on the processor??
Gimme a shout (PM or something) with some other extra info (mainly how do you want the OS) and if there's any chance of taking it off an old HTC phone that I have lying around gathering dust on it. I remember having an .img with 6.5 but it got lost (prolly deleted it).
Hi, thank you for replying Alex C., i need a rom for the ChaCha in the format of the one that used to be on the Samsung Jack (it is a Windows Mobile 6.5 qwerty).
However will the ROM work on the ChaCha processor and will it be stable??
Also, the processor on the Jack is 528MHZ and the ChaCha is 800MHZ will there be a significant speed increase??
If you can get me a ROM that will boot and stable - we could open a Windows Mobile thread.
Also, you said you get something off a HTC phone - will HTC Excalibur be able to work on ChaCha.
Thanks Alex C. Please let me know soon, TechMayhem.
Don't bother wasting your time, you don't have any proprietary files, don't have a bootloader and WM doesn't have support for your phone.
Android phones use dalvik VM to load the java-based Android OS. WM is not java-based and can therefore not be booted by this phone. Only possibility is that you would mix up an WM 6.5 phone with the chacha, but I don't think you will succeed. Ever. You might try just picking up a second hand WM6.5 phone though, I don't think they cost much. And you could always try your .cab's on a emulator on your pc.
