quick newbie question...
I'm using rogers HTC Magic
32A S-On
HBOOT 1.33.0009
CPLD-12
Radio- 3.22.20.17
and my question is how do I turn S-off?
after that I wanted to install CursorSense 0.7 on it
You need to install an Engineering SPL or a Hard SPL. You cant just 'switch it off', this is manufacturer's way of preventing us to flash all the good stuff (the motherf***ers lol). Look into Amon_RA's SPL thread, and you will find all the info you need.

Hi!
My magic is 1.33.0006 (Vodafone Spain) so is a Perfect SPL, I have been reading about the different ROMs and some of them need a different SPL, my question is:
If I rooted my magic (was shipped with version 1.5) and now I have installed the Cyanogen 4.2.13 and the RA Recovery 1.5.2G, Do I need the goldcard to change the SPL and the radio version? or with just entering in the recovery mode is enough?
Thanks in advance,

Yeah. Entering recovery mode is enough
Goldcard method is basically avoid region check (if you will flash official ROM, that isn't for your country). In some times GC may used when flashing .nbh to get rooted.
i still am confused about the PERCECT SPL, which I have (.0006) is this SPL good enough for flashing new ROMs, I completed the 1 Click ROOT with no issue flashed the latest Cyanogen ROM, but I wanna try a HERO rom, its kinda why I got a Android Device. This SPL stuff is actually confusing me, five years for HTC devices I have never had an issue or really been confused on what to do, there is a first time for everything.
If i do need to change my SPL, which should I goto? I would like tjust to leave it alone and contine to FLASH on, cause I've been waiting for weeks to get an Android device and flash awaY!!
THANKXXX
actually I think I found a thread just above this one that answered my question, but if anyone want to confirm the correct idea, thatn that would be cool, but I m gonna go ahead and upgrade to SPL: Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 BUT i would like to be sure thats what i need to do, i would like to keep my NO BRICK record intact

Hi,
Thank for your answers, I'm thinking to change the SPL but I'm not sure which one use, Is the same Danger SPL and the one posted in the sapphire-port-dream website in google (I can't post urls) as latest? If I flashed this SPL will I be able to install all the ROMs that need different SPL? or is better a Engineering version like Engineering SPL 1.33.2010 (I'm confused about the differences).
My magic is SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT - 1.33.0006 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.1926I
Also I want to ask, if I flash the new SPL (if the versions above are compatible with my phone), Will I need to re-flash again the Cyanogenmod version (or the ROM that I choose)?
Thanks!

Mmm... 1.33.2005 (Haykuro Danger SPL) is most popular SPL for 32B-devices
Devs recommend it to flash before flashing their ROMs.
Usually, you don't need to re-flash ROM
Hi, I have a T-mobile 32B with perfect SPL and my friend helped me to install new SPL:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H

Now I have big problem : keyboard map is incorrect and don't have home button (original T-mobile phone don't have search button) and I can't go to recovery. Now I want update to any SPL which support Tmobile phone button correctly and I want have root.
Please help me, I'm trying google it too.
Please help me, please please please
... I thought it was usually bad to have a 3.x radio on a 32B.
Can you still fastboot?
(It's possible he could have clearly flashed the wrong SPL on it)

Yes, I can use fastboot and flashed recovery
I don't know why our dev doesn't post SPL with radio, as I know each SPL come with a radio, if you use fastboot flash correct a pair without reboot between flash them, your device never bricked
i thought it was currently not possible to root the.010 perfected spl
be it 1.76.0010 or 1.33.0010
how did you do it
i have a new g1 that has 0010 and would like to root it
You must have a goldcard and you will be able to upgrade to any nbh file for G1. (I have a devphone nbh, I will find it and share)
excellent, thank you
please advise when you have found it
in the magic forum there is a post making a gold card
can i follow those instructions?
Hi
Been trying to root my uk vodafone 32b magic today, which was originally on a perfected 1.33.0007 spl. I followed guides over at unlockr.com to use a goldcard to flash the danger spl of 1.33.2005, which has worked, but im stuck beyond that. I can boot the recovery image (have to use the H version now as my phone now shows itself as an H/32A on the fastboot screen), but when i update to the cyanogen mod the phone freezes on the splash screen.
It just sticks at the vodafone logo following applying the two zip files. Is it anything to do with flashing the danger spl and the device now has the 32A stuff on it (i.e. it shows as 32B ENG S-OFF H now rather than G).
The infor on the fastboot screen is now as follows:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT - 1.33.2005 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO - 3.22.20.17
If anyone could give exact instructions on what i need to do i would much appreciate it..... im not sure whether i need to flash 32B radios or what...
Thanks in advance!
You need to flash a 32A/EBI1 port because your radio is 3.22.20.17.
Your UK vodafone came with that radio?

if you have 6.35 radio and 1.33 SPL with S-ON then you could go to repair shop to exchange phone motherboard.
Or to save some money you could buy new one and sell this one for parts.
Proper way of upgrading to new radio:
- eng SPL 1.33 ( S-OFF )
- radio 6.35
- SPL 1.76
- rom for 6.35

i check the original thread in a chinese forum(he posted same thread before). he said he can run fastboot; recovery is dead and even splash1 doesn't show up. i assume, at least, this cannot be defined as brick, right?
the original thread indicates that his phone was SPL 1.76.0007, which is PERFECT and RADIO 6.35.08.29 before. he just directly run the ruu which contains SPL 1.33.0009 in order to downgrade but the phone stuck at flashing radio and then he removed the usb cable. eventually the situation said in this thread came out.
i wish the information i provided can help find out a solution instead of talking about sending the phone to the service.
so there is downgrade RUU?
didn't know
and AFAIK there is no safe method to downgrade Perfect SPL 1.76 - there is solution for old radio/spl but I didn't seen any about 1.76 SPL
As far as I know every where where I've seen instruction about flashing FLASH ROM memory there was a lot of warnings "do not interrupt flashing in the middle!!!", "be shure to not lose power supply durring flashing!!!" with explanation that "you will have electronic junk if that happen" and "only paid service after that".
And that warnigs was for PC motherboards, photo cameras, mp3 players, handhelds, phones, cd/dvd recorders even...
So i don't know if anything could be done.
Maybe goldcard but since there is no working fastboot (since it have S-ON SPL) and phone is not booting then CID must be obtained without phone or if adb is working then follow goldcard tutorial to install ENG SPL.
After installing ENG SPL there will be no problem with flashing new ENG SPL 1.76 for 6.35 radio and flashing ROM for 6.35 with fastboot command at computer.
Hi there,
I have been reading abit on gaining root access on this phone and here is my progress so far:
I have a Vodafone New Zealand HTC Magic 32B running Android v1.6 with the following SPL in the fastboot screen:
sapphire unknown 32b ship s-on g
hboot-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Jul 31 2009,15:49:25
I have managed to create a goldcard and apply this engineering spl (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010 - ROM v2.53.707.2) by Amon_RA in hboot.
After rebooting, the splashscreen has changed to HTC and I now have Android v1.5. Everything went well, so I thought until I went back to fastboot to check on the SPL
sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off h
hboot-1.33.2010 (sapp10000)
cpld-10
radio-3.22.20.17
jun 2 2009,17:27:03
As you can see it is now s-off h where it should be g?
And the radio is now 3.22.20.17.
I understand I have messed up by applying the wrong SPL. I tried to fastboot "recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G.img", it hangs at the HTC magic splashscreen.
My questions:
What should one do to obtain s-off g and the appropriate radio?
Should one:
apply a different SPL, say 1.33.2004? < I think this is a google phone engineering SPL?
Or:
Change the radio following Amon_RA Revert to 32B Radio and ROM instructions?
The whole point of me gaining root access is to store applications on the sdcard and have a clean fast ROM.
Thank you all for your help.
p.s. Please feel free to move this thread to the appropriate forum if I have posted it wrongly.
use the 1.33.2005 engineering SPL (it says here)
Thanks for your reply excogitation.
I have managed to downgrade the radio back to 2.22.19.26I using Amon_RA method. Here is the latest HBOOT info:
sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off h
hboot-1.33.2010 (sapp10000)

I am running Amon_RA custom ROM at the moment and it is asking me to activate my T-mobile myTouch 3G phone. Now I could not use gmail because I could not activate via a t-mobile sim card.
Under Settings > About phone > Model number = T-Mobile mytouch 3G
Is there any way I could change this Amon_RA to a vodafone base? or is there anyway to activate google account via wifi like it was in Vodafone?
Thanks for your help!
Update #2
After turning off and on the phone. I am able to log onto google via wifi
Amon_RA custom ROM is fast! I am enjoying the clean v1.6 android. Way faster than the stock ROM.
Perhaps later I will try Cyanogen ROM
Thanks Amon_RA for the awesome rom!
One more question:
If I ever need to send the phone back to Vodafone - how do I revert back to the stock ROM and SPL?
flash the stock rom (either from your backup or search the web),
flash the stock splash if you have a custom one by then,
flash the perfect SPL back.
That should be it.
